Here we go again.......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jaggythistle · 14/04/2012 12:00

I shall maybe add more to freak you out once DS is asleep...

Munx2 · 14/04/2012 12:01
Blush

The resolution isn't good on the iPad and I thought the guy on the left was Sam.

Now you have me thinking about David Duchovny (spelling)?

Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Munx2 · 14/04/2012 12:01

I am having a lie down as dd is napping, I really should be doing housework though.

Oh well!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/04/2012 12:07

Hmmmmm celebrity crushes. Mine would have to be Taye Diggs and Christian Bale (which is why Equilibrium is one of my favourite films despite being dire!) Ooooo and Samantha's boyf Smith from Sex and the City. If you want weird crushes though.... I have to say I'm a little bit in love with Halle Berry Blush That doesn't mean anything! Just that she's so gorgeous I think it transcends gender Grin

McPopcornMouseNFries · 14/04/2012 12:39

Oh scream I love equilibrium mostly for Sean Bean :o

McPopcornMouseNFries · 14/04/2012 12:50

Nuchal and blood test back - 1:3800. That's good, right? The letter says it's low but I was sort of expecting an extra naught iyswim!

Munx2 · 14/04/2012 12:51

Don't worry Pop that is fine, low risk. Congratulations!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/04/2012 16:06

Ha, I thought it was Mulder in the infamous Speedo shot, but it was so small I wasn't quite sure. I used to love the X Files...and David Duchovny...and I had quite the girl-crush on Scully as well. Blush

Pop, yay for low-risk nuchal! Maia's came back as 1:10 Hmm just to freak me out, so 1:3800 is excellent.

jaggythistle · 14/04/2012 16:21

yeah could only find quite poor quality screen captures with a quick Google too! it has made me giggle that someone else recognised the speedo shot though! Grin

i was just starting season 2 as i worked through the ironing mountain pile, but lost concentration a bit so started watching cheesy old movies, Glee and music dvds.

is it wrong that i watched Rattle and Hum and thought that Bono didn't look quite as rough when he was younger? well in black and white anyway.

jaggythistle · 14/04/2012 16:31

Blush yay for good results popcorn, got a bit sidetracked about the speedos there and forgot to add this!

jenfraggle · 14/04/2012 16:53

I didn't get a result pop, the letter just said low risk so the numbers mean nothing to me

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/04/2012 17:09

Yay for Popcorn getting a low risk result!

I think I've turned into the pregnancy grinch. One of DH's 5 pregnant cousins came round for a visit earlier, she's 34 weeks and so happy and positive! Whereas I'm just so depressed at being 38 weeks when I really thought I'd have escaped by now. I was really negative through the whole visit. I feel guilty now, I hope I didn't drag her down at all. I wish I was happy and jolly - at least it's only 11 days to go. It just feels like a lifetime and I'm soooooooo fed up of waiting around in pain when the baby reached a safe weight TWO WEEKS ago!!!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/04/2012 17:28

Apologies for bringing my grinchy mood to the thread. I just can't seem to shake this really negative emotional state. I think it must be pg hormones, there is no rational reason for me to feel SO fed up!

DreamingOfPeace · 14/04/2012 17:39

scream, console yourself with safe weight still not ideal. Your baby is building vital iron stores in her liver, strengthening up and practicing coordination etc. You're doing fantastically by cooking her for longer. 11 days!! I remember how far away that seemed only too well, but you'll get there! I can't recommend a twin pg for a barrel of laughs or the constant demands and ebf newborn twins but my boys are delicious :-)

Wants3 · 14/04/2012 19:19

No weird crushes here I am afraid! DH and I are off out for an Indian with a group of old friends. It has been organised by friend who has been through messy divorce(still only communicates with ex through solicitor) she now has a new man who we are going to meet tonight. There will also be a couple who we haven't seen since we moved down here 10 years ago!

NinjaChipmunk · 14/04/2012 20:07

jaggy that youtube vid was v odd but I guess I expect no less from Tori Amos as she is completely barking! Whilst I don't like her music you've got to give her some kudos for simply not giving a shit what anyone thinks. Not sure how she came up with the concept of heads on arms and legs, its rather disconcerting to begin with.
I haven't seen the X Files for ages but I happened to catch quantum leap the other day, love it, brilliant series.
pop my result was 1:1900 and that was considered low so yours is v good. I think mine was bumped up by my age
aw scream you poor thing, you'll be there soon enough. You never know she may still come a bit early?
dream hope you are doing ok? How is dd adjusting to the additions?
wants enjoy your evening out.
A quiet evening here I think, about to put ds to bed then just chill out in front of the box.

scarletfingernail · 14/04/2012 21:02

Great result Popcorn re the nuchal results. I didn't get a number either jen, just a letter saying low risk. Must be different for different areas.

Erm,...I think some of you missed the part that said weird celeb crushes. Some of these mentioned are perfectly acceptable! Jaggy Bono wasn't too bad when he was younger, I think he was in fact my Mum's celeb crush in the Rattle and Hum days.

Scream I think that even if you go until your CS date of the 25th you'll still get in before me and I'll be 5 days overdue by then! If we're continuing with the boy/girl pattern and we know you're having a girl it makes sense that you will be next. As myself and Jaggy have UBBs either one of us will be after you with a boy, then either myself or Jaggy with a girl followed by Wants with her boy. I've got it all figured out Wink

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 14/04/2012 21:38

i was only about 10 or 11 when Rattle and Hum was actually out, i don't think i was that impressed at the time. Grin

nice figuring out scarlet, won't it be funny if we do get one of each ubb!

sorry you feel so pants scream, hope the next week and a bit flies past.

the first 2 weeks of leave have been so quick for me, seems mad that it's now less than 2 weeks till my due date. Shock feeling a bit unprepared...doesn't seem real at all yet.

DreamingOfPeace · 14/04/2012 22:46

Tired wave from me! I need some more sleep, the duo are going to break me!!!

DD being very gentle and sweet with her brothers so far, she's taken it far better than I thought she would. She's been spoilt rotten with loads of 1:1 with daddy/ grandparents every day though. Just not me, stuck feeding babies, can't lift her though may have once or twice and too sore for our usual stuff. I feel guilty but she seems fine!

Sorry for reading and running again

McPopcornMouseNFries · 15/04/2012 01:12

scream you're perfectly entitled to whinge! Everybody's body copes with pregnancy differently and while it's great she's managed to stay chipper it doesn't make you less of a person to need it over now. I'm sure your day will roll round soon and before you know it the pain and frustration will be a distant memory :)

You know sometimes you have a guest over and it seems to go fine but then you look back after and realise it was a bloody nightmare? I've had one of those. Can't go into it in too much detail but included such gems as "are you getting rid of the cats? They smother babies you know" and "you're not going to know what hit you, I don't know how you're going to manage" directed at dh which I thought was particularly off.

Cheers for the reassurance on the downs screening :)

NinjaChipmunk · 15/04/2012 09:52

oh pop thats a bit shit! I think some people really don't know when to shut up. I've not had that but numerous times, especially since we found out its a girl, we had people saying 'oh you can stop trying now you'll have one of each' like having one of each is some kind of magic deal. I couldn't have given a flying toss whether it was a boy or a girl, it took us 19 months of stress to conceive this time around and actually, quite honestly, I might still want more kids if I'm not too old and too broke in a couple of years. Mind you, just wait till you've had it and people pass on their gems of wisdom as to what you are doing wrong - just smile and say thanks, i'll consider it. You'll get good at ignoring things I promise!
Well the sun is out and ds has another party this afternoon. Think we'll take it easy other than that.

Wants3 · 15/04/2012 12:33

I had a lovely evening out but got back rather late! I am currently married to the incredible sleeping man, maybe I should go in and casualy say "my waters have gone" to see if he moves:) we have a hospital tour booked in a couple of hours so hE will have to surface soon.
In regard to people's 'helpful' comments, ignore, ignore, ignore!

cakes82 · 15/04/2012 18:01

My mum said she would probably give me advice because that is just her, but as with all things in my life I may or may not choose to take any notice and she is aware of this fact lol.

We've chosen not to have any of the available downs screening done. After trying for so long to get pg we will love our baby no matter what, so not going to worry about what might or might not happen.

Hope everyone is having a reasonable day and the sun is helping to lift moods.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 15/04/2012 19:15

Yay! The grinchy mood has finally lifted! I have to give credit to my DH (who was probably up half the night trying to think of ways to get me to stop taking out my bad mood on him!) He thought I just needed something positive to focus on, and suggested that I could perhaps think up a birthday treat for myself, most likely involving a swanky hotel and spa.

So after much fun-filled deliberation I have come up with an UBER birthday plan, mostly revolving around pampering and sleep! (My birthday is one month after my elcs). I'll be checking into a yummy covent garden hotel around lunchtime, and then hopefully having a lovely uninterrupted nap probably for the first time since giving birth! Then late afternoon I'll head over to the Sanctuary for a massage (I think it'll have to be a pregnancy massage still, so they put me on one of those special tables where you don't put any weight on your stomach). Then after my massage DH will come up and meet me at this super romantic restaurant in Covent Garden that I've been wanting to try for AGES. My lovely Mum has already agreed to babysit while DH has dinner with me. Then he'll head home and I will have a whooooooooooooooole night of luxurious sleep with no interruptions! (Except probably having to wake up in the middle of the night at least once to express before my boobs pop!)

I am so excited, even just looking at the websites has totally snapped me out of my evil funk! I'm excited about it now, but I think I'll be even MORE excited about it once the sleepless nights set in after the baby arrives. It will be my first baby-free night in TEN MONTHS!!! Woohoo!

My family (Mum, Dad, baby sis) were really enthusiastic about babysitting as well. I think it's a great ploy, getting them to sign up to the babysitting before they've seen how much the baby cries! Grin It'll only be for 3, max 4, hours though. My DH will have the baby for most of the day and all night.

Apologies for the me me me, I'm just bursting to talk about it all! I could go on for HOURS. The hotel looks amazing, and I LOVE massages, and I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for such a long time!

Enough about me though - Popcorn how annoying are the things your guest was saying! Some people really don't think before they speak. The comment to your DH was particularly uncalled for! Is this your DC1 (same as me)? I think we're both going to have to develop thick skins to deal with the thoughtless comments that otherwise perfectly nice people seem to come out with around pregnant women and babies!

Cakes it sounds like you're really comfortable with your decision not to have the downs testing, and I think that's so good given that's what is best for you and your DH. I know other people who wanted to turn down the testing but felt pressurised into it and subsequently got really stressed out whilst waiting for the results. The tests are entirely optional and by no means always helpful - Too had a particularly difficult time with them and Maia turned out perfectly!

Dream still sending lots of No Brooking your way, I do hope your little men give you a bit of a break soon. You're doing so well! It's lovely that your DD is being sweet with them, I cannot even imagine how cute that must be!

Scarlet I still think that the No Brooker boy/girl alternating pattern means that after Dream's two boys we're expecting two girls next! I think either you or Jaggy will pop before me and have a little girl!

DreamingOfPeace · 15/04/2012 19:38

my bad Bat Babies just come alive at night.... though they've been a pain all day too, constantly feeding... They have just both slept for 3.5 hours- in fact dt2 is still asleep, but typically over DD's tea time/ bath time that I wanted to join in with.... I'm feeling really exhausted now.

Your birthday treat sounds AMAZING scream. I also love massages. However, as a wildly over-protective mum who doesn't especially like DD being away from me still at 19 months now it'll never happen for me...! I miss DD, hugely, and I am around, just tied up with the boys constant feeding so not the one taking her to the playground etc.

good choice cakes, if you're not going to consider terminating why worry? I had no testing with my (perfect!) boys largely because i couldn't have it on the nhs and wasn't worried- about that anyway, I found plenty of other things to worry about!!

I'm not sure if the boy/girl pattern will continue for each No Brooking parent rather than baby... wonder if you next scream, then jaggy or scarlet with a boy.
