Congratulations Mythical and Harecare!

I have my daughter, Imani. She was born 9.44 am this morning, weighing 7lbs 8oz. I'm still in shock as my labour progressed so quickly. Even the midwives were amazed.

Good luck everyone else. I will update tomorrow. I started writing this hours ago, so I have probably missed more news.

googietheegg · 14/05/2012 02:00

Oooh well done cocoa beautiful name too.

littlesarah and dreaming hope you're both super smashing!

tostaky · 14/05/2012 04:44

Great news cocoa!!! Well done! I like the name too Smile

Good luck dreaming and littlesarah!!
Anyone knows about bodeccia? Maybe she has had her baby already!!

Nothing new for me... I will ask for a sweep sometimes this week though...

dreamingofanallotment · 14/05/2012 06:33

Congratulations cocoa :) beautiful name!
Well no news from me - the BH seem to be continuing but have yet to turn into anything 'proper'! I did spend half the night feeling v nauseous too - I was worried I'd eaten something dodgy at a bbq yesterday, I was thinking 'nooo, I couldn't cope with labour AND food poisoning!' Come on baby!

How are you getting on LittleSarah? Hope things have progressed well. I wonder if you're having newborn snuggles by now?

Bodeccia · 14/05/2012 08:37

Thanks Congratulations cocoa Thanks (Beautiful name, love it :))

Best of luck littlesarah, looking forward to hearing your news.

Really hope things are starting for you cupcake and dreaming.

dreaming: the only reason I haven't had a hot curry yet is because I am worried about the "after effects". I don't usually eat hot food. I couldn't bear to feel ill AND have to go through labour at the same time.

As for me, still bloody waiting. But, I've had a good night's sleep, I have energy today (I've put one load of laundry in and I've just clean the bathroom - have you noticed the time? Wink). I'm having another sweep today, and a reflexology treatment after that.

Getting a bit irritated by well meaning friends who send me messages like "Baby Bode, this is your aunty _ speaking..." I know they mean well, but I'm trying to stay positive and zen like (which is hard enough). I don't need the added pressure, I guess. I'm sure she'll come when she's ready. (Watch this space for my "I'M SO SICK OF WAITING FOR GOD'S SAKE, ENOUGH ALREADY comments)

Anyway, will let you know when this one decides to budge.

Excuse me ladies, I have another load of laundry to do, and it isn't even 9am...

Catsycat · 14/05/2012 09:10

Wow! Congratulations Saggy, googie, harecare, mythical, bonbon & cocoa! Thanks Can't believe how many of you popped while I wasn't looking! Hope you're all doing well and enjoying your gorgeous new babies!

Good luck LittleSarah, dreaming and cupcake - sounds like things might be moving!

Have come down with another cold courtesy of the DDs and their snotty noses. Hoping it goes by next monday as I don't relish the idea of coughing / sneezing with my CS scar! On Saturday DD1 did her preliminary ballet exam, so I'm hoping she passed. We spent yesterday trying to get the back garden into shape, and it's actually looking pretty good now. We still have a bit of planting to do, and the front garden needs glyphosating in a big way, but the weather's gone a bit grim again - if I get chance I'll go out and do it though. Still ploughing through the to-do list, but doing well!!!

Catsycat · 14/05/2012 09:13

bodeccia good luck with the sweep. I know what you mean about the comments - I'd had a gutful by the time I had DD1 & DD2!!

Off to put a blind up now

LittleSarah · 14/05/2012 10:23

Morning all!

To let you know: The very lovely Finlay was born at 12.34am, weighing just 5lb 14oz. Everyone shattered and happy except ds1 who is well rested and indifferent! (At least not mad with jealously).

Totally different labour again but still pretty quick once things got going. When midwife measured me at 10pm I was only 2cm! Things soon moved on and midwife got a shock when the head appeared! Haven't had a wink of sleep really as just couldn't afterwards, too high!

Good luck to those who are having twinges!

Congrats to purestcocoa! Thanks Sounds like your delivery was fab! Gorgeous name!

Newtothisstuff · 14/05/2012 10:27

Big congratulations Sarah, saw the pic, what a cutie. What a little dot too !!
Glad the labour went okGrin
Me tomorrow Grin

cupcakefairy · 14/05/2012 11:15

Aaah congratulations sarah! So pleased for you & wow so quick!
I'm really jealous of all these babies now though I want mine!! Thanks for the well wishes all but it's really not happening here! Only random tightenings. I have another sweep tomorrow & will have to get dh to 'help things along' ;) after it! Then hoping for a due date delivery on weds.. I seriously doubt it though, need to prepare myself for overdue hell!

Huge congrats to cocoa too, fab you didn't have to be induced & gorgeous name!

chocolatesparkle · 14/05/2012 11:57

I have to apologise for my lack of input, I have been one of these terrible people who reads with interest but never gets round to saying what I have been up to.

I'm delighted to say that Imogen Grace was born early on 6th May. She is gorgeous and we are thrilled.

Have had real problems with breast feeding, struggling with every step. However home now and getting lots of support from community midwives. Hopefully we will crack it eventually.

After all this time in hospital I am rather behind on mumsnet news, so will catch up on the last 10 pages and come back withan update.

Good luck to those still waiting for their babies and congratulations to all those with little ones.

cupcakefairy · 14/05/2012 12:18

Catsycat · 14/05/2012 12:56

Brilliant news LittleSarah - you didn't hang around! - and ChocolateSparkle, glad you're getting lots of support with feeding.

cupcake, hope the sweep gets things going, or DH if not Wink!!!

dreamingofanallotment · 14/05/2012 14:25

Congratulations littlesarah and chocolatesparkle more babies! :D

Well I've had newborn cuddles this morning to see if that will trigger anything....nothing as yet! Just BH carrying on painlessly. Seeing midwife tomorrow so I'm hoping I can get her to give me a sweep if nothing has happened before then. Kind of dreading a sweep though - I've never had any examinations or smear tests before so I don't really know what to expect.

Wrigglebum · 14/05/2012 15:12

Wow they're coming along fast now! Congratulations all, such gorgeous names everyone is choosing as well Smile.

Cewafwb · 14/05/2012 16:16

I have a cold - how is that fair when I am having a baby in a minute! I have also had two coldsores in two weeks - do you think I am being punished for not taking it easy - YES! Serves me right!! Not nice though and can't breathe!

cupcakefairy · 14/05/2012 16:35

Ah cewafwb and catsy sympathies with the colds :( hope they don't hang around long.

dreaming don't worry, a sweep is a bit uncomfortable but not horrible..the weirdest thing is when they poke the baby's head & baby starts wriggling, that feels odd! Hope you can get a sweep.

tostaky · 14/05/2012 19:35

Cupcake- what do u mean when u say they poke the baby's head??? They do t go that far for a sweep, do they?? I'm planning one for thu but you are scaring me!!!!

cupcakefairy · 14/05/2012 19:47

Oh no sorry to scare you! They sweep their fingers around inside the cervix.. mine said she could feel the head with membranes stretched over it.. she was poking around to try to feel which way the head was (looking for the fontinelle) cos I'm so keen to know if it's back to back (but she couldn't tell.)
So yeah..they do go quite far back but honestly it's really fine just a bit uncomfortable. I had mine at home on my bed, bum raised up on a couple of pillows with a towel over them.. tomorrow I'm going into the surgery for it though.

LimeFlower · 14/05/2012 20:14

Congrats on all the babies arriving mythical , LittleSarah , googie , purestcocoa , LittleSarah and chocolatesparkle hope i didn't miss anybody

mythical i loooooove the names of your little one, something that i would have chosen myself if not bugger DH rejecting everything, grrrrrr

cupcake i was told last week by mw that my baby is back to back-she made some poking and proding of my belly and then she announced that.now i'm bricking myself because it might mean longer and more painful delivery ending either in forceps or ventouse or in the worst case emcs.she said(and confirmrd her words on the net) to try some walking on all fours for half an hour a day or get on all fours and with elbows on the floor, arse in the air and try to swing the belly sideways.it supposed to bring the heaviest part of the baby(back) to the bottom of your belly-so baby would be facing your back.
if this didn't work the last thing to try is take a position on all fours with backside in the air in first stages of labour.

tostaky · 14/05/2012 20:17

Mmmhhh.... The things I would do to get this baby out!!!! I'd rather not think about it!!! Good luck with your sweep tomorrow cupcake Smile let us know how it goes.

luckynumber11 · 14/05/2012 20:45

Congratulations saggybaps, googie, harecare, mythical, bonbon, cocoa, chocsparkle and littlesarah. Hope I haven't missed anyone out....can't believe how many babies have arrived in the last few days!! sarah I'm particularly amazed that you now have your baby in your arms as you were my due date buddy. And I really have no signs of any action here! Fully expecting to go another two weeks, as dd2 came at 40+6. In fact, I'm so certain I'll be waiting a while, I have booked a hair colour / cut for Friday afternoon as I can't imagine I'll go into labour in the chair there (let's hope i don't have to get out of there in a hurry or I could end up with seriously weird coloured hair or a lopsided cut!)
Good luck to those of you going for sweeps. I have one booked for 27th May - ages away! Our midwives here won't do one until you're almost 41 weeks. Maybe I won't need one by then?!
I wonder how many more announcements we'll have on here tomorrow?

cupcakefairy · 14/05/2012 20:59

limeflower I've been doing everything poss to not have a back to back baby ..lots of time on all 4s playing with/tidying up after ds! And lots of leaning over birth ball. I had a bad back to back labour but honestly it's not like that for everyone I've heard loads of stories on mn of btb labours that have been much better than non btb, so don't be scared. The baby often turns in labour, my ds was just stubborn!

lucky I really need a haircut & was thinking of booking one for Saturday.. I reeeeally want to have a baby by then though so can't bring myself to do it!

Yorky · 14/05/2012 21:27

So many lovely new babies, thank you to all those who have put pics on their profiles/FB - beautiful, and great names
Its such an exciting time on the thread Grin

Limeflower - I found the position I was most comfortable in during contractions was kneeling, leaning forwards onto the settee - although I was never told baby was b2b its interesting that the shape I wanted to be is the one reputed to help avoid b2b delivery. Not sure what I'm trying to say, but don't worry about it too much.

DD2 had her hearing test today, and she's being registered on Wednesday, DH has already contacted the council to get a bigger bin now there are 6 of us! And he's back at work :( - he added a few days of leave to his pat leave but couldn't stay at home for ever, shame he's working late every night this week, and is away Mon-Thurs next week - bit of a baptism of fire. Sling is a Godsend when trying to get tea ready

dreamingofanallotment · 15/05/2012 04:41

Well after all that worry about sweeps, its looking like I might actually be in labour! I've been having painful contractions every 5-6 mins for the past hour and a half so have given up on sleep and I'm jumping in the bath! Fingers crossed this is it!

Hope everything is going well yorky and that its alright when your dh is away.

Book that haircut cupcake, let the law of sod help you out!
