Good luck dreaming!!!Grin

Newtothisstuff · 15/05/2012 05:08

Good luck dreaming.. We might be birth buddies it's my section today, don't have to be at the hospital until 6.45 but I can't sleep Smile

dreamingofanallotment · 15/05/2012 05:19

That's an early start for your csection! Hope all goes well.

Newtothisstuff · 15/05/2012 05:27

I doubt I'll be having it at that time, just depends on how many emergencies they have through the doors, could be there until midnight.
Hope you are feeling alright ? Smile

dreamingofanallotment · 15/05/2012 05:30

Yeah, not too bad, the cx are still coming every 5 mins, going to try and doze a bit seeing as the bath has gone cold! Just trying to keep my brain distracted!

LimeFlower · 15/05/2012 05:36

Cheers Yorky and cupcake ,i'm going to move around during the first stage

harecare, congrats on your baby,as I made a boo boo on the previous page

dreaming and newtothis good luck for both of you:)

can't sleep, woke up about an hour ago-can't find the good position for sleeping, grrr, some discomfort around one of my hips.

Wrigglebum · 15/05/2012 08:49

Good luck dreaming and newtothisstuff! I was already in theatre at this time of morning for my ELCS so hopefully yours will be as prompt newtothisstuff Smile.

Is everyone else logging on every morning to check for news of births?!

cupcakefairy · 15/05/2012 09:25

wriggle I'm reading constantly on my phone to see the news...and cos I'm so obsessed about this baby at the moment! So want it to come soon... sweep at 2.45 this aft. Due date (by my dates) isn't even til tomorrow but I feel so impatient already!

Good luck newtothis hope you're in theatre already :)

and dreaming so pleased for you it looks like things have started naturally, yippee! Good luck xxx

Catsycat · 15/05/2012 10:23

Good luck newtothis and dreaming. So exciting seeing everyone's news every day! Will be thinking of the two of you today :)

Yorky hope you're OK when DH goes back to work. I'm also a bit concerned about this when it's my turn, as he stays away too. I'm sure we'll both cope though!

cupcake hope the sweep moves the baby along. Get the mw to give it a good prod! Friend of mine tried shining a torch up her fanjo, kind of a "come into the light" sort of thing! Don't think it helped though Grin.

Wriggle, hope I get in early for my ELCS on monday! Have to be there at 8am, and the registrar has kindly put me first on the list (told him there was more chance of me still being there / still being moderately sane if he did that!). I can't complain if there are emergencies though - after all that was me last time, jumping the queue Grin!!!

ballroompink · 15/05/2012 10:46

Congrats to you all - they're coming thick and fast now! Speaking of which...

Sebastian Henry James was born on May 13th at 1.13am, weighing 7lbs 8oz at 39+3.

I started feeling 'weird' on Friday evening and noticed I was having more BH contractions. Real contractions started Saturday breakfast time and I spent the morning having a bath and on my birth ball as the contractions came every 5-7 minutes. At about lunchtime they became a bit uncomfortable, so I went for a walk and at about 3pm started with the TENS machine. Had another walk after dinner, and from 8pm onwards contractions were kind of painful, every 2.5 minutes, and I had to breathe through them. Fast forward to 10.30pm when I had one that was a lot stronger and said 'We're going to the hospital!'

Shortly after arrival at the hospital my waters broke in the reception area (glamorous) and when I was examined at 11.30pm I was 6cm dilated (hurrah! as I thought they might send me home). Then everything went up a notch - got up to 10cm in less than an hour and a half with gas and air (lovely stuff, like having one too many glasses of wine), 18 minutes of pushing and he shot out! The midwife said 'Next time, you might want to think about a home birth!'

All is well with both of us - I have a 2nd degree tear (MW was about to do an episiotomy but he came too fast); we had another night in hospital and came home yesterday evening. He is beautiful :)

Bodeccia · 15/05/2012 10:53

Yay, more babies!

Thanks Congratulations littlesarah on wee Finlay, remind yourself how little he was when he's a 6 foot tall rugby player Grin Thanks

Thanks Congratulations chocolatesparkles Thanks

Hurrah dreaming, can't wait to hear your news and I'm glad things have kicked off naturally for you :)

Best of luck newtothisstuff, I imagine you might even be holding your wee one as I write this :)

For those of you worried about sweeps, it really isn't a big deal. It isn't super comfortable, but it doesn't last long. It is like having a smear test, but less painful.

So I went for a second sweep yesterday and a reflexology treatment and here's my news:

Yep, nothing. Nada. Zip. Nashi.

I'm now 40+10 ffs. The goddam scale doesn't even go to 41. I've been receiving weekly emails from the baby centre of the type: you're now "you're now 16 weeks, your baby is the size of an avocado" etc. I checked my inbox yesterday and got the email "your baby is one week old, how are you doing with breast feeding?". Well, that made me cry :( I actually had to change the settings to no longer receive the updates.

The MW couldn't even do the sweep again because I'm still not dilated. So she poked about a bit and tried to shake things up to stimulate things but to no avail. She did say that most women give birth naturally before they're induced. We shall see...

Wrigglebum · 15/05/2012 10:57

Well done Ballroom! Lovely name too that I wanted but DH vetoed.

Catsy- my hospital recently started using a dedicated team for ELCS to prevent people having to wait too long, seems to have done the trick as we were in do quickly. We were first on the list too. I hope you go in as quickly as I did.

Spoke to my car insurance co yesterday and they said I just need to get a health professional to ok that I could safely perform an emergency stop and I can drive. I've made an appt with the doctor for Monday, so that would be 3 weeks post ELCS. I feel very nearly ready now and I think by Monday it will be fine. Will be good to be able to drive again!

Bodeccia · 15/05/2012 11:08

Thanks Congratulations ballroom! Delighted your labour was so straight forward, I love the name Sebastian :) Thanks

Thanks to whoever is on the case with updating the list btw!

I've created a post natal thread here by the way, I'll put a link on the other May baby thread too to sync us all together

Catsycat · 15/05/2012 11:39

Well done Ballroom, sounds like you did fantastically. Hope the tear is not too painful though!

wriggle hope you get approved to drive on Monday! Interesting about the special team for EMCS. They don't have that at Warwick, but they did say all the ELCS are usually completed by 1pm anyway.

Bodeccia I remember the pain of being overdue. Hope you're finding something pleasant to do to pass the time.

Bodeccia · 15/05/2012 12:33

I have put an up to date stats list on the post natal thread up to ballroompink. Still waiting to hear from newtothis and dreaming. Will message the other thread too. There seems to be various facebook pages popping up too, feel free to put info on the post natal thread (I haven't signed up for them).

Can you tell I have NOTHING better to do?

Bodeccia · 15/05/2012 12:34

Here's the link to the post natal thread

cupcakefairy · 15/05/2012 13:17

Hooray well done ballroom! Sounds like quite an ideal labour really.. and by all accounts a tear heals a lot better/less painfully than an episiotomy so think you had a lucky escape there.

bode sorry sweep did nothing for you :( I can totally relate to how fed up you are, especially over those stupid emails! I was last to have a baby by a good few weeks (few of theirs came early & mine came v late) in my previous nct group & it was torture knowing they were all meeting up at breastfeeding cafes etc & I was still waiting :( not too much longer now!

yorky poor you at the prospect of dh away and you alone with 4 dc ..hope it all goes ok.

Catsycat · 15/05/2012 17:02

cupcake & bodeccia I was so late with DD1 (half an hour short of 19 days!) that all my NCT antenatal class friends have their children in the school year before DD1!!!! How left out did I feel last september??

luckynumber11 · 15/05/2012 18:10

Congratulations ballroompink. I've never had a boy, and I'm not having one this time, but I have a shortlist of four boys names that I love and would have wanted to pick two from had I ever had a boy....and your ds has 3 of the 4 names on my shortlist! So I think you have made a great choice there!

cupcakefairy · 15/05/2012 20:03

Shock catsy that must have been rubbish for you!
My ds was 17 days late :( was horrible.
Sweep today was a non event really & afterwards she booked me in to 'discuss' induction with a consultant on Monday (or my wish to delay induction!) Just so pissed off with them having put me a wk ahead from scan dates cos it means this induction discussion is coming a lot sooner than I'd like :( she said to take all ky charts etc in on Monday to show when I ovulated etc & that I am RIGHT on my dates! I'm just hoping & praying baby comes before Monday.. all positive labour vibes please ladies! (and for all you others still waiting)

dreaming hasn't been back yet..bet she has a baby Envy

cupcakefairy · 15/05/2012 20:04

That should have read MY charts..stupid phone sorry.

Newtothisstuff · 15/05/2012 20:09

Hey everyone.
Section went absolutely brilliantly, so different to the last one
Baby Jessikah was born at 10.40 weighing 6lb3oz she's absolutely gorgeous Grin

Congratulations Ballroom Grin

Harecare · 15/05/2012 20:39

Congratulations Newtothis, ballroom, littlesarah!!
Ballroom, your birth sounds like mine, I didn't know it could go so easily and quickly. I'm amazed! First 2 were dreadful back to back 24 hour non progressing tiring hard slogs. The worst part of this was not being able to sleep in the MLU afterwards.
Bodeccia You sound how I felt on Friday at 41 + 6. Fingers crossed something happens for you.
cupcake All 3 of my DDs had scan dates a week earlier than my actual dates. My hospital will let you go to 3 weeks over the scan date if all is well when they scan you. Hopefully your hospital will allow you to go over if you agree to daily observations. Good luck!

myweeangel · 15/05/2012 20:50

Just posted on birth announcement section, hoping it encourages some of you close to due date with no signs of approaching labour and also anyone who is going to be induced!
Well done to all the new mummies and good luck to everyone else!

Wrigglebum · 15/05/2012 21:25

Glad it went well newtothisstuff, you were in theatre nice and early. All that worry about her size and she is a good weight.
