BlueCrane · 24/05/2012 02:31

Mentioned the plug to DH who seems pretty calm and has gone off to bed. I'm in the living room bouncing on my ball reading random posts on MN to keep me entertained Grin might try bed again soon but not holding out much hope of sleep as Braun too awake even if my body feels tired iyswim! Few tightenings but not frequent at all...

Are your contractions regular now? Sounds as though they're pretty painful if it woke you up! Have you rung the hospital?

BlueCrane · 24/05/2012 05:22

Just saying hello to you all again...went to bed not long after my last post but haven't really slept at all and now wide awake again and think I am now having contractions every 7 mins ish...like very strong period pains that ease in, get a LOT stronger and then ease out again. Soooo...have given up on sleep and now back in the living room sat on my ball hoping I don't need the loo too much as really don't want to wake DH, DM or DSD as don't want them fussing - far too tired to deal with that and actually dreading all the attention come morning when they realise I've not slept at all!!

tostaky how are you doing?

...and everyone else?

tostaky · 24/05/2012 05:25

Hi, hope this is it for you bluecrane how was your first labour?
I'm still home but I have woken DP and asked him to have a shower. Cx still 3 mins apart but much more painful...
Might call doula and go to hosp...

BlueCrane · 24/05/2012 05:31

Morning tostaky this is DC1 so am experience-less in this field! Sounds as though calling doula and making a move towards the hospital before any signs of rush hour traffic would be a good plan for you Smile hope it all keeps up the pace and everything goes well!!

SirCharles · 24/05/2012 13:22

We had a baby boy yesterday lunchtime! He is gorgeous. Both DH & I are totally smitten. They kept us in over night for observations but should be allowed home shortly.
I will write up my birth story when I get a chance. Funny to contrast it with my birth plan.... Best laid plans & all that!!
My first reflection is that labour is a bit boring & tedious - probably why the term "labour" is used. Grin
Good luck to all those of you still waiting to pop.

tostaky hope all is progressing well. Just thought I would share doula experience... Ours was brilliant. She was on the end of the phone for me & DH (mainly DH in the end as I did not want to speak to anyone) and rocked up towards the end when she figured DH (& I) would need more support. We had not phoned her but she made the right call!!! I was losing the plot & DH was cream crackered!!
She was gr8 especially when i would make signals or say something DH could not understand - she would translate - eg she wants u to move the bean bag, your massage, turn the light off etc!
V positive experience & would def recommend a doula. She complemented the MWs & was a real support to us. Fabulous!
Good luckSmile

I'm still bouncing on my ball...trying to get back to 4min intervals as fell asleep earlier and everything stopped...grrr...at 7min intervals currently so will see...really want to have this baby today!!

SESthebrave · 24/05/2012 13:53

Congratulations tostaky and Sir Charles :)

tostaky - I'm so pleased you got your VBAC. Look forward to hearing more.

SirCharles - doula sounds great! Glad it all worked out.

BlueCrane - hope things are progressing for you!

We are now very close to the end of this thread. The rate things are going I think I might be (one of the!) last to pop but happy to move over to post natal thread if you'll have me there!

luckynumber11 · 24/05/2012 14:23

Congratulations sircharles and tostaky. How wonderful that you got your vbac in the end tostaky. Really really hope I can go that way too! Good luck bluecrane too, thinking of you.
Dont worry ses, I really think I am going to be the last one waiting here...can't believe everyone else has got to the finish post! As soon as this thread ends I'll continue writing on the post natal thread, so see you over there ses, even if we are still pregnant!

LittleSarah · 24/05/2012 17:00

Woooo! Lots of babies!! Happy days!

tostaky - Glad to hear you got your vbac!!

cupcake - AMAZING!! You pushed out your wee man all on your own and no induction!! That is so great.

SirCharles - Congrats! So pleased to hear your doula was such a help, I hope I manage to be so helpful and intuitive when I help out at a birth.

imissbrie - Congratulations on the birth of your wee girl, sounds like you had a lovely smooth labour too! I grazed with my dd, hopefully it will heal up nice and fast.

wriggle - Sounds like Adam is gaining weight really well. Finlay was 6Ib when he was weighed on Friday, I think he'll have gained a good few more ounces when he weighed by health visitor tomorrow. He feeds very frequently!

Good luck to all who are still waiting. Before you know it you will have your babies and it will feel like they have always been there.

BlueCrane · 25/05/2012 01:23

Went into hospital and endured hideous internal only to find out that all my hard work and pain had just succeeded go getting little one to 3/5ths engaged and not dilated at all! Was so so disheartened and fed up when I got home and desperately tired too having not slept last might at all! They gave me some painkillers to take so I could try and get some sleep which have helped a bit but am a little loopy on them! Contractions back again after dipping away, pretty strong too so just hoping they're actually doing something this time! Managed to type this on my phone but no idea if it makes sense!

MixedClassBaby · 25/05/2012 11:54

Rosie Eris born at home 23rd May. Congrats to all of you with babies born and best wishes to all those waiting. Well done to Tostaky who I was talking to on childbirth thread. We got there in the end! X

SESthebrave · 26/05/2012 19:39

LimeFlower · 26/05/2012 22:55

SirCharles tostaky and MixedClass congrats on your babies :)

ses and lucky still on the waiting side here :(

i lurk into postnatal thread but don't post then-sorry,I don't feel the "right" to be there

to those of you still waiting and wanting to whinge, rant or cry here's the good place:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1475000-Time-to-evict-baby-new-thread-for-heavily-pregnant-ladies

well, wishing all of you good luck and all the best as I've got a strange feeling i might be popping in June :(

luckynumber11 · 26/05/2012 23:19

Hi, yes still waiting here. Been to the hospital twice in last 2 days as I had 24 hours where I felt much less movement. They wanted to check me twice but everything seems fine. Drinking loads of water really helps - hadnt realised how much more you need while pregnant and in this weather. I have a second sweep tomorrow morning - ouch!!willbe 40+6.
However, I read your comment on the postnatal thread tostaky and like you, my biggest problem is a terrible case of piles. Came on really badly this week and last 2 days have been agony. Had been treating them but with no relief. Today midwife gave me cream with hydrocortisone, so this may help a bit more..? The worst thing is, I haven't been through labour yet, what on earth will happen then?? Asked midwife if everything would burst (!!), she says it will be ok... But already had bleeding from it today (TMI , sorry , but feeling really rotten and down with it). So kind of hoping to hold off labour for a few days now to help me recover a bit first.
Hope you are feeling ok and a bit more positive ses and limeflower.

BlueCrane · 27/05/2012 00:53

Little Maxwell was born at 6.20am weighing in at 6lb9oz! Mum feeling a bit battered after stop start labour, pethedine to get me from 3-5cm last night (I was utterly exhausted already at this point) then into the pool to get to transition, then told water not warm enough to deliver in so had to get out and somehow and move onto the bed...I hadn't realised that for the last pushing stag you weren't allowed any gas and air so this came as a bit of a shock but after a few pushes out he shot...literally...and caught the MW and dh totally by surprise (especially as it was 'one last push' before the MW wanted me to turn around so that she could put a catheta in as she thought my bowels were too full and thus losing up proceedings...having said that in hindsight I just wonder whether she wanted to scare me into pushing harder!!). We're now home, I'm pretty sore as his speedy exit resulted in 2nd degree tears so I'm feeling fairly fragile...plus I still haven't slept and my new mini friend can't seem t make up his mind about feeding which is poring hard work...just hoping he's full enough now to sleep for a bit!

purestcocoa · 27/05/2012 09:07

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to those who have had their babies. I have had my hands full with Imani. She prefers cuddles to her cot and luxury mattress Grin. Sorry I haven't had a chance to keep up with the thread.

She's 2 weeks today! I will post my birth story, for those who are interested, when I get a chance. I'll also add catching up with the thread on my to-do list Blush.

Come on May babies!

luckynumber11 · 27/05/2012 13:05

Congratulations bluecrane, I think getting them out quickly is the best way! Hope you manage to snatch a bit of sleep soon.
Had my second sweep this morning. But midwife could still only get a fingertip in at 40+6... So it's not exactly ready to go now.
Looks like induction on thurs could be on the cards :(

SirCharles · 27/05/2012 20:32

Come on May babies!! Am thinking of all those of you waiting to pop & sending positive vibes your way. Couple of comments on my birth story below for those interested.... In the meantime an Updated birth announcement - NAME!!! Theodore Harold arrived 1132am on Wed 23 May 2012 at St Thomas Hospital weighing 7lbs 8oz or 3.385 kg in new money.

Totally gorgeous & mum n dad completely head over heels.

Just remember - all the aggro, the piles, the tears/grazes, heartburn etc are all worth it. As soon as your LO is put on your chest & you have the chance to see what you have created - well.... It was a beautiful moment. As was watching DH fall in love with him. Gorgeous!!

Birth story highlights : Despite going into spontaneous labour in the middle of Mon/tues night I did not avoid induction as the drs decided I was not progressing fast enough. They were worried the pre eclampsia would worsen so augmented me with syntocin at 1am Wed morning. Woweeeeeee. By 4am I was having v powerful surges & as these were all in my back (& had been since Mon morning) I started to lose the plot through sheer lack of sleep. I had not used anything more than massage, hot water (incl having a picnic in the bath Tues evening!!!) & paracetemol/codeine til this point..... I could not figure out how to work the gas & air (I did in the end tho!) as I could not follow basic instructions!!! Oops Blush. So I had a mobile epidural at 7am....... be warned if you have one of these..... You can still feel plenty!!!! This is when I worked out how to use the gas & air Grin.
Theo was born a little grey I understand & frightened DH. I gave birth kneeling on the floor whilst leaning on the bed so could not see what was going on but given the sudden activity I gathered all was not perfect. Due to the epidural I could not move unaided so remained there until Theo was breathing & the staff were happy to leave him to attend to me.

Good luck ladies.

Congratulations Sir Charles, Cocoa and Blue crane!!!!
Enjoy all the cuddles and dont forget totake care of yourself :)

Lucky - apparently there are some suppositories and i will get some tomorrow in Boots... and if the midwife tells you not too push, dont push!!!! lay on your back as it will lessen the urge to push (not on all four, you will want to push more)
Don't worry a week or two after labour, it should be ok :)

good luck ses and limeflower - let us know :)

HeidiHole · 28/05/2012 17:56

Oh my goodness how have you ladies managed to update so soon after the birth?

Our son James was born on May 23rd :) Weighing an eye watering 10lb 6oz but did it with gas and air/one shot diamorphine and thank goodness escaped the dreaded forceps/ventouse/c-sec/episiotomy. Apart from a million stiches I escaped unscathed so we're on cloud 9 cuddling our baby now!

First time i've had a spare second to breathe, let alone come on mumsnet! Off to read everything I've missed, there must be lots!

cupcakefairy · 28/05/2012 21:43

heidi Grin congrats!! And thanks for setting a new record for biggest baby I was beginning to feel out on a limb with my enormous boy Grin
Huge congrats to blue too so glad all those pains were leading to something!

This is prob the last post on this thread! Ladies please come over to the postnatal thread even if still pregnant..nobody cares! There's not even much chat going on there at the mo anyway.. see you there :)

I'm off for another night of endless feeding..yaaaaawn!
