My last post was at 10pm last night, and April Edith was born at 1:52am at 9lb in the mlu attached to the hospital. An unbelievably quick and straightforward labour and birth. I guess that's what labour is supposed to be like if the baby isn't back to back!
I'd definitely recommend a home birth to any who can. We chose the mlu as were worried about meconium in the waters leading to a last minute transfer, but while the delivery and birth were great, the hanging around unable to sleep before discharge was rubbish! Got home 2pm after 2 snatches of 30 min sleep while April happily fed and slept for the whole time. Since we've been home and able to sleep she's been permanently on the boob! Very tired!

Baby Isabel Helen was born 12/05/12 at 21:25 weighing 8 lbs 7oz. Squeezed out naturally in 22 minutes after a failed epidural. Midwives impressed with my angry face & speed lol!

Just to let you know that our fabulous daughter arrived on Friday 11th may! No name yet though!

Congratulations harecare , mythical , and googie ! Hope you're all enjoying snuffly, snuggly cuddles and also being able to get some sleep! How odd that after a run of May boys, there's been a run of May girls! They've all come together!

I'm hoping some of this baby arriving-ness will rub off on me, I'm mighty fed up and want this baby out! (I'm a bit like a stuck record at the moment, sorry!) I am enjoying the looks on people's faces when they ask when I'm due and I say 4 days ago - the Asda check out lady looked like she thought I was going to pop there and then!

Oooh, just to add, she was 7lbs7oz and I had an epidural after a 34 hour labour.

I had reflexology yesterday and I'm going to have it every other day until Thursday. If anyone has any positive birthing stories after induction, I'd like to hear them. I'm getting a bit anxious about the amount of "nightmare horror stories" people are eager to tell me when I mention induction.

Seriously, some people have no tact.

You're making me laugh - when does the inability to go to the loo on your own start? when you have to be born in a group of girls!

I'm feeling a bit more optimistic today. I am 39+1 and the last two were born at 39+3 and 39+6 so surely it isn't long now?? I'm trying to look on the bright side in an efforts to lift the grumps. Sounds like you are feeling like me dreaming.

I've been having lots of tightenings..really want to have a baby this week..come oooonnnn.

bodeccia see above when I mentioned my nct friend who had 2 v positive inductions, they're really not all bad. I would love to avoid it this time but won't be too upset if I eventually have to give in.. you can still be in control to a degree eg not wanting to have drip etc.

Well something definitely seems to be happening here but so unlike previous labours I am somewhat confused! First of all no water breaking yet (happened at the beginning before both times) but have been having mild erratic tightening every five to eight minutes or so. Have phoned midwife who is going to call again later to see how things are going... I'm not sure myself! Definitely not 'established' yet.

I didn't have regular contractions until I was ready to push. I was 6 cms and contractions were 6 to 12 min apart, completely random!

Thanks guys. Midwife is off to bed anticipating a call in the early hours. Contractions about every ten mins or so so no idea how long this will take but hopefully will have good news tomorrow!

I am getting rather at all these babies arriving that were due after me!! I've got a meet up with my nct mum pals tomorrow - I really thought I wouldn't be there as I was hoping that the baby would've just arrived/be arriving...but it's looking less and less likely! Although I have been timing the braxton hicks/tightenings I've been getting as I was curious as to how regular they were, and they are coming about every ten mins or so and lasting for about a minute. Trying not to read too much into it though as they were coming every ten mins on Tuesday and nothing has happened since then!

Oooh good luck littlesarah. Mine started with waters breaking and no contractions until a few hours later, then got loads stronger.

dreaming sounds to me like things could happen for you too..my bh haven't been regular at all just totally random pains. Been leaning over my ball again though & am sure I can feel baby's bum at the front now so praying s/he has turned round & things might kick off!
