A new thread as the other one was ready to burst!
Thanks *Mikocat" for the new name.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
alwaysanauntie · 08/05/2012 17:02

bluecrane totally with you on what to do once we've actually got the little ones out, am less worried about looking after the baby (i think you just learn to cope as best you can no matter what) and more worried about how this extra person in the house will affect my relationship with DH (it's bad enough the dog gets more kisses & cuddles than I do - he's not exactly romantic & finds it hard to show affection to people) & we have discussed it (response = we'll be fine, stop fussing) but still... :s

Good luck to myweeangel and anyone else with twinges etc (39 wks today and nothing doing here!) Come on May babies! :o

alwaysanauntie · 08/05/2012 17:06

Sorry, x posted with harecare & mythical, I feel for you both being late, had a chat with my dm this avo & I was a week late despite being her 4th, am now thinking I'm more likely to be going down the late & induced route than early with a relaxed homebirth as planned, but I guess what will be will be, hope things get moving soon for you both xx

cupcakefairy · 08/05/2012 18:20

bluecrane I remember feeling the same, I constantly looked at the carseat & just couldn't believe a tiny person would be in it soon.. honestly it will all come naturally it's just lovely :)

harecare & mythical you have my sympathies! Being overdue is hell. I've purposely not told people a specific due date this time but I'm still getting the 'any news?' texts/calls.. grr!

My official due date (by dating scan) is tomorrow but by my charting I'm 39 wks tomorrow.. have a sweep booked for Friday but bracing myself for unfavourable cervix & op baby. Dh thinks being too negative won't help my body go into labour..he's prob right Hmm

cupcakefairy · 08/05/2012 18:22

Oh and alwaysanauntie my dh is a bit rubbish at showing affection too.. but amazingly he is so good at it with ds, really cuddly/tactile and tells him all the time how much he loves him etc.. so you may see a new side to your dh!

Harecare · 08/05/2012 20:03

alwaysanaunty - My Mum went about 2 weeks over with all of her 9 children! She used to lie to the midwives about the dates so they'd leave her alone. I had to strike up a deal with DP when DD1 came along that I'd do the washing up if he gave me a kiss every time he/I left the house, saying goodnight etc. I didn't mind doing the washing up, I just wanted affection and he wasn't so bothered. I also used to get annoyed that he wasn't showing enough interest/affection to DD1, but that changed when she got more responsive.
I've another sweep booked for Thursday and then I'l be panicking about an induction. By my dates I'm the same as mythical so won't be 2 weeks over 'til the 16th - I'm going to ask my midwife if they'll just let me be observed daily 'til then instead of have an induction. They did agree to that with DD1 who arrived 13 days past the scan and 6 days past my date.
Might be crazy to put off an induction when I was doing my damnedest to get the baby out early/on time, but I'm a bit afraid of hospitals and an induction turning into an intervention spiral.

tostaky · 08/05/2012 20:06

i have fund this, if you, like me,have nothing better to think about.... :-)
These results only compare babies where they both showed up spontaneously (no induction).

On average, the mothers in this survey had their subsequent babies 2.02 days later than the baby before it.

The average baby #2 came 3.71 days later than baby #1, based on 97 mothers.
The average baby #3 came 3.64 days earlier than baby #2, based on 28 mothers.
The average baby #3 came 4.82 days earlier than baby #1, based on 28 mothers.
The average baby #4 came 5.56 days earlier than baby #1, based on 9 mothers.
The average baby #4 came 5.33 days earlier than baby #2, based on 6 mothers.
The average baby #4 came 1.44 days later than baby #3, based on 9 mothers.

Catsycat · 08/05/2012 20:14

Oops, sorry BlueCrane Grin! Enjoy Bill Bailey - we saw him in Birmingham in November, and he was brilliant. Last night DH had booked me to sit on the end of the row, btw, which was quite handy!

Lime don't worry about not knowing why the baby is crying. You go through all the options one after the other till something works - though sometimes it's obvious (x hours since the last feed = hungry, nasty smell / squishy bottom = nappy!!!!). Sometimes they do just cry and you won't know why (sorry!), or won't be able to do anything about it. So long as they are safe and cared for, just remember you are doing your best and don't beat yourself up if you don't guess right first time what's upsetting them!!! You too BlueCrane - you soon work out what to do, because you'll be doing it all the time (in a good way) :) .

myweeangel hope you have a bed now, and good luck!

Sympathies to the overdue people - I have lengthy experience of this from my previous 2 pgs, so am feeling your pain. Hope something happens for you soon.

I have the leaning tower of ironing to attend to now - eugghhh! :(

SESthebrave · 08/05/2012 21:17

Quick update from me is that the consultant was happy that baby's head is now 3/5 engaged and central so no need for me to be admitted and full steam ahead for my VBAC!!!

Am only 37+2 so I guess in theory, I could still have nearly another 5 weeks. Also, even though I'm a second timer, I feel a bit of a first timer as I've never experienced waters breaking or a show or a contraction! Help!

What I would say to first timers though is that after the birth, you'll surprise yourself with you maternal instinct. Yes, there may be times when you're left at a loss but there will also be times when you just know what is right for your LO.

Good luck to all those overdue or starting labour :)

LittleSarah · 08/05/2012 22:06

Feeling very happy this evening. Pre baby spring clean complete thanks to very helpful sisters and mother. Everything is just lovely. If only it would stay that way. The thing is now I have nothing to mark time except EDD. Before it was finish work, get some knitting done, do doula essay, and now my last one - CLEAN - is done, I have little to occupy me these next couple of weeks! Going to start another jumper for ds (the one who running around already). I am knackered though!

Harecare - Ten days over! I didn't realise it had been so long. You sound wonderfully calm, I am very impressed! I feel for you too mythical, I have been lucky enough never to go over so I can only imagine how maddening it is!

tostaky - Funnily enough I fit the pattern you have mentioned, ds was about 3 days after dd.... (ie dd four days early and ds only one). So that means this one should be born about the 16th?? Woo just over a week to go then.... or of course I will be way overdue this time.... argh who knows!

cupcake - How was your photography session? We had a mini one of our own this evening and one in particular I really like. My sister says she'll draw a couple of them (she is starting an art course in September) so hopefully I might even get a nice drawing of one.

alwaysanauntie - Good luck with the home birth, I am on my third! Had a firewoman on the phone this evening arranging a home safety check because of gases! Never had that before, ridiculous. She sounded a bit cynical about it too. Not to mention they will have been here a week before the check!

Good luck myweeangel - you'll have your baby so soon!

Bluecrane Have fun at BB, have seen him a few times, always so funny. Apparently he's doing a wee highlands and islands tour soon, little intimate venues. Would love to see that. Don't worry about arrival of baby too much, everything usually falls into place and you'll get plenty of support here during the difficult times!

LittleSarah · 08/05/2012 22:07

Oooh SES - So pleased for you!

cupcakefairy · 08/05/2012 22:37

Fab news ses! I feel a bit antsy too having never experienced a spontaneous start to labour..we shall see!

sarah photos was fun, I'm looking forward to seeing results I might post one on here if nice enough! My sil is a really good artist too & drew one of ds' v early photos for us..we have it framed in his room so hoping she'll do the same again this time :)
Well done getting all your jobs done, now just relax! ;)

bluecrane am v jealous about bill Bailey! Love him.

Yorky · 08/05/2012 22:42

Overdue ladies you have my full sympathy.

DS2 (DC3) was 11 days late, I'd never been late before, and time has never dragged quite so draggingly! Reflexology, homeopathy, 3 sweeps - stubborn/comfy baby! And it was the end of half term so my childcare/mum was about to go back to work - I was uncomfy and just wanting baby out but resisting induction because I wanted my homebirth! Messy hormones galore!
When we had to go to hospital for monitoring/sweep/refusing to be induced yet poor DH was saying 'I've put a babygro, vest and nappies in a bag, do you want me to pack anything for you?' , answer (a little snappily) 'No, I'm not stopping', him 'but just in case?', 'No! i'm not stopping!', repeat until he gives in before being eaten alive! Blush

I don't know if it makes you feel any better Harecare, but DC3s have a reputation for being hard to get going, no idea why, hope it all happens soon

LittleSarah · 08/05/2012 22:53

Yorky! Don't say that! Oh man, it could weeks couldn't it?

SESthebrave · 09/05/2012 08:32

Morning all! V happy here at home to be able to wake up and share in DS's birthday excitement and present opening :) Happy 3rd birthday to my gorgeous Owen!!

cupcake - photos sound great! Hope you can post one or two on your profile for us to admire when you get them through!

Harecare - hopefully LO was staying put for the wedding weekend and is now discreetly gearing up for a lovely smooth labour for you very soon.

myweeangel - good luck! Hope all is going well!

Bodeccia · 09/05/2012 09:54

Morning all

Happy birthday to your DS ses, hope he has a lovely day :) I'm delighted for you and your VBAC too, did you read Ladybee's VBAC experience? Enough to give anyone hope IMO :)

That's cool that you've had photos taken, cupcake, I've barely even posted pictures of my bump on facebook! I have been wondering how to take a decent picture of a newborn baby - gotta be said they're not at their most photogenic in the first few days...

Well done sarah on getting the cleaning done. It is a shame it never stays like that. I had everything nice and clean about 2 weeks ago, and I'm getting tumbleweed dust already...

catsy I remember those seats at the RSC - uncomfortable at the best of times, even after the refurbishment!

40+ 4 here. I'm in one of those vicious circles: I feel like I should go for a nice long walk, but it is raining and I have no energy for a walk. I want DH to come, but he is ill (he has a minor cold a bug that will end the human race). I'm sleeping really badly because the bump just gets in the way of everything, maybe if I was more active I would sleep better. LO's movements are really tight and pressured now because she has no more room. I'm bored of the tension: is it going to be today? Was that a twinge? Grumble, grumble... I feel like there's a lot to be said for those ladies who go for ELCS, at least you know when your LO is coming. I'm having a sweep on Friday. I need to just chill out and realise that this could last for another week and a half.

Hope the ladies who are due imminently/over due are coping better than I am :)

mythical · 09/05/2012 10:02

Well been having contractions since midnight. Not v regular but quite painful! In the bath ATM eating toast (classy me!)
Midwife thinks I'm in early labour & got consultant appt at 11 15 so will see what he says!
Will keep you posted x

myweeangel · 09/05/2012 10:06

baby noah born 11pm last night on due date, 6 hr labour, natural delivery. all well, 10lbs 8ozs, 57cms! shall fill you all in properly soon. back to gaze at my perfect wee man!

dreamingofanallotment · 09/05/2012 10:22

Congratulations myweeangel ! Lovely name and what a good size! I'm hoping for a labour like yours, that sounds great!

Hope all is going well mythical, hope to hear some good news soon!

I'm feeling the same as you bodeccia (although I'm only 40+1) - getting v frustrated and just want to meet my baby, while trying to think positively, but a the same time thinking aargh it could be ages yet! I'm reading into every single twinge too which is driving me mad.

Happy birthday to your ds ses! Good news about being able to go for the vbac too.

What a lovely mum and sisters you have LittleSarah, coming to clean the house! I feel a bit like you with regards to 'stuff' to do - I'd planned it so that everything was done by my EDD (yesterday!) so now I'm wondering what to do! Think I'm going to sew some sort of patchwork baby blanket as I'm hoping the sods law will dictate that if I start a big project, then the baby will come before I can complete it!!

I seem to have a v v wriggly baby this morning, yowch! There's no room left for big wriggles! I've been getting loads of braxton hicks the past few days - I timed them early tues morning (same morning that you started your braxton hicks thread mythical so I was watching with interest!) and they were about ten mins apart and getting achier after starting off pretty painless. I then had a bit of a mad nesting day and didn't really notice if I was still getting them so they obviously weren't painful! Went for a long walk yday eve and then spent an hour bouncing on the ball so I was really hoping that something would kick off last night....but no! I think I need to work on my patience!

tostaky · 09/05/2012 10:36

awwww... Congrats my weeangel!! that was a big baby! glad things seemed to have been ok with you - cant wait to hear your birth story!

mythical - exciting!!!! keep us posted

im already fed up waiting and im only 38 weeks today... Having spent the night in hospital last week made me think labour was imminent but now i realise i have clearly over-reacted!!!!
ive sent DC1 and 2 to my parents (far away) so i really want this baby to come out now before they come back.... im thinking about asking for a sweep at 39 weeks.. after all my mucus plug has gone and im 2 cm dilated with a ripe cervix, so it cant be that long... come on baby!!! I am ready!!!

Good luck to all those waiting, i feel for you DC2 was 7 days late and it was agony...

Newtothisstuff · 09/05/2012 11:28

Congratulations on baby Noah !! Defo not a wee angel ! Well done for getting him out naturally !! Grin seems our May babies might be getting the message now Grin come outttttttt

purestcocoa · 09/05/2012 11:39

Congratulations Beeboles and Myweeangel!

I'm now 40+3 and slowly getting fed up. My braxton hicks are increasing and I feel pressure on and off, but then nada! I am hoping my second acupuncture treatment gets labour going! Although I'm scared of actually having to look after a newborn like bluecrane, I am very uncomfortable.

Hopefully I'll avoid meeting the doctor on Monday as I really want to give birth at the birth centre, but I have until next Wednesday before that is no longer an option. I am petrified of being induced.

Good luck mythical, I hope things are progressing well for you.

Hope everyone else is coping well and will get to meet your LO soon.

Ladybee · 09/05/2012 11:57

Hello again!
Am cool with the delay on postnatal thread, I was lucky with DS that I fell right in the middle of the month so didn't have a long time to wait before joining the PN thread - but I can totally remember the ladies who did fall at the end getting quite despondent as the thread inevitably emptied out. Would be lovely to have all the May ladies together though - definitely the more the merrier, lots of different experiences to draw on in the difficult early days.
Oltob, Beeboles, myweeangel congratulations on the birth of your sons Toby, Tom and Noah. Hope you're back home now and enjoying lots of snuggles and resting.
Catsy belated happy birthday for Monday! wonders whether she read that correctly
LittleSarah I agree with Catsy about your DS's reaction to stepsister's daughter - you may find that it's entirely different when it's his baby, IYSWIM. A good friend of mine who had her 2nd 6 months ago had a similar experience - her baby neice provoked a v negative reaction in her daughter and she assumed it would be similar when her own baby arrived but it was completely different. Her DD was completely besotted and almost possessive of the baby when he arrived. Oh, and I also stopped waking to wee at some stage. Then it came back again. Guess it's just baby's position? My afterpains weren't dreadful. They were worse than for my first but that's because I didn't have them at all with my first. So worse than nothing but not horrendous.
Lime my DD and DS both hiccuped lots in the womb, and out of it too. Both of them so far aren't great at bringing up wind and get a bit fussy in the evenings sometimes but are definitely NOT colicky. Don't worry about it until it happens Grin
Harecare commiserations on going past the due date, it's seriously rubbish isn't it? I was 10 days over with DS, although 2 of those days was in labour (shut your ears 1st timers). Fingers crossed it all happens with a bang in a day or so.
AlwaysanAuntie my only piece of advice re: effect of baby on relationship is not to take ANYTHING as meaning ANYTHING in the first 12 weeks. It can be tough, it definitely takes time to adjust for everyone, so just be as kind to each other as possible and ride it out. Once you've got into the swing of it a bit more, then look at the relationship and see if you can change things if needed but don't assume anything that happens in the first few weeks is how it will be forever.
wriggle - I have the same 'clicking' I think, also on my right. DD seems to feed completely differently on each side. On my right, we struggle to latch until I really shape and she gets enough in, usually after crying in frustration. It completely looks like the 'munching a burger' mouth, and I can hear her really gulping down the milk. If I try to shift my hand or I don't watch carefully, the suction seems to start slipping with a 'tsch' sort of sound. On the left, she latches quickly but with a smaller mouth, and it seems like less areola is in her mouth and I don't feel the tingle or compression nor hear the gulps - but she always seems completely satisfied when she comes off. It's weird - but I used to have one inverted/flat and one out nipple (and this charming variation is something I've passed on to both my children, lucky old them Grin). The one that was flat/inverted did eventually start protruding after a year of BFing DS but it still isn't more than 5mm out normally. Right also leaks occassionally, especially if I think about feeding, it seems to provoke the let down.
I don't think any of it is a 'problem' though, no pain for me now, good weight gain for DD - it's not textbook but it's working and I'm trying really hard NOT to obsess about getting things 'right' with DD as part of my anti-PND strategy Smile
Speaking of which, my latest MW home visit broached the subject again (I had PND with DS and the MWs have that in their records) and we talked a lot about what it normal in terms of fears & tears and when it might start moving beyond that. I think I'm in a normal state at the moment but agreed to the MW referring me to the maternal mental health team so that I've got a back-up pair of eyes/ears checking in with me regularly once they discharge me from MW care - which will be sometime between 4-6 weeks postnatal.
As ever, I try to read - normally at about 1AM on my phone while feeding - but balancing sleeping v posting means I'm not writing much. TImed this one to perfection though, DD calls!

LittleSarah · 09/05/2012 12:02

YAY weenangel!! Well done on your natural birth too with a fairly big baby! Great name! Lots of good names so far, meant to say to beeboles that Tom is on our shortlist...

mythical - Great news that things are finally moving for you. Good luck!

So I am rubbish with nowt to do. Just been dozing in bed this morning and still feel fatigued. Going to go and make lunch now and maybe some cupcakes.

dreaming - I would love to make a little patchwork blanket but as I have never managed to do it successfully it would be a biggish project for me... also, not sure, but think my cousin is doing one. She said she would ages ago but I haven't heard anything since. I think she will do it though as she started one for ds and always felt bad she never finished it. If you have any tips though for doing one I'd love to hear them, I do have 10 days to fill... (I usually go to a craft club but it's off at the moment)... my big worry is finishing the quilt border, no idea how to do that!

Bodeccia - It is difficult to chill out when you just want baby to hurry up and come! If you don't fancy a walk watch a nice DVD or something maybe... baby will come soon I'm sure. In France your EDD is 41 weeks, can you imagine!

Right going to update list as we have three babies for it!

LittleSarah · 09/05/2012 12:06

Cross posted LadyBee. Glad to hear feeding is going well, I suppose it's only a lucky few who have a 'textbook' baby! Also good that they will keep a close eye on you due to previous PND, I hope you are getting lots of support to try and keep it at bay... I really hope as you and catsy say that ds will find his own sibling a different prospect than other small children, should find out soon enough!
