I've disappeared off the list! Could someone put me back please?! (I'm on my phone so can't) EDD 8th may, #1
Ta!

mythical · 09/05/2012 12:34

Hi guys I've not been admitted into labour ward yet as contractions have stopped but I am 1-2 cm dilated and I've had a sweep and scan. Babies est. weight is 7 lb 15 oz everything looking good, provisionally booked induction for a week tomorrow if nothing happens but midwife was convinced things are v much on their way so gonna get home and see if I can catch some sleep as I haven't slept last night at all

Newtothisstuff · 09/05/2012 12:49

Exciting Mythical, will kept my fingers crossed it all happens soon.
I've been having tightenings on and off for the last 48 hours, nothing regular tho, anywhere between 30 minutes and 8 minutes apart (last night 8 minutes apart for 4 hours Sad) was examined today as the trace showed the tightenings (meaty ones as she called them) she said im also 1-2cm but my cervix is still quite long which is good, her advice to me for me to make my section on Tuesday is to not move !! Easier said than done with a 5 year old but I have noone to look after DD1 if I go into labour so I'm going to stay put Grin

Bodeccia · 09/05/2012 13:02

Congratulations myweeangel, I love the name Noah! Blimey he was a bigg'un! Thanks

Lovely to hear your progress, ladybee, I'm glad you're being well taken care of with your PND history.

Best of luck mythical! Have a good rest and I look forward to hearing all about it on the other side.

Thanks for updating the list sarah, good to see someone is on the case :)

I'm going to have some lunch (I have such a craving for macaroni cheese!), have a long hot shower and then go for a walk. Thanks for the "chill out Bodeccia" advice. I'm glad I'm not alone :)

Catsycat · 09/05/2012 13:42

Well done myweeangel. Impressed by the size of your little Noah! Hope you are both doing well.

mythical - how exciting! Hope to hear good news soon. Hope you can get some rest before the big event.

Ladybee glad to hear how you are doing, and that everything seems well. (and thank you for the birthday wishes - I'm now in the last year of being in my thrities - sob!)

bodeccia glad its not just me who hates those seats at the RST! I was starting to think I was anatomically weird (well, I probably still am, but maybe that's not why the seats are uncomfy, at least!). Hope things get moving for you soon. BTW I'm booked for an ELCS, and the "when will it happen" stress has just been replaced with "don't want to go into labour before my ELCS" stress - I think being pg messes with my head whichever exit route the baby is meant to take Grin!

SES excellent you got to be at home for Owen's birthday - have fun!

Exhausted today, so might try and get a few minutes sleep while DD2 is having one of her very rare afternoon naps...

Wrigglebum · 09/05/2012 14:14

This thread is moving fast! I keep reading as I feed but never get round to posting! I can't remember who I've congratulated so I'll have to issue a blanket congratulations to all those who've popped! Loving all the names and can't believe the size of these babies! I obviously just bake them small as people keep commenting on how dinky Adam is! Ds1 was even smaller but DH and I are both fairly big (though were small babies).

Ladybee- I also have an innie and an outie nipple! My right is inverted (also a bit better after feeding DS) and has super fast let down- was shooting out of there yesterday! As long as you are comfortable feeding and the baby is getting enough milk then the latch is probably good enough. Think I'll use breast shells to collect some milk to freeze as I'm leaking lots from the other side when feeding. Ds1 never took a bottle but if I haven't had to pump the milk out I'll be less annoyed if it gets rejected Grin.

Adam is still super calm, I'm wondering when the spell will break!

Harecare · 09/05/2012 17:27

MUST NOT SHOW HOW JEALOUS I AM OF MYTHICAL AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS ALREADY POPPED

Had a lovely day with DD2 at playgroup today and now the outlaws have taken DDs for tea at Morrisons so I can write up a session someone is covering for me on Friday. I don't know why I'm bothering as it's only an hour and although I'd thought I'd be doing it leaving a nearly 2 week old baby with DP, since she's not here I could probably still do the session myself.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Huge congrats to weeangel..I remember you saying your dd was a big baby too so they were expecting a whopper.. that considered I don't think Noah is overly huge! Well done anyway, and lovely name.

harecare I honestly do feel for you, being overdue is so awful. Are they talking sweeps/induction etc for you? Hope you can still have your home birth.

mythical yippeeee hope this is it for you!

ladybee I had the same thing with ds whereby he fed so well from one side and seemed to position wrong on the other side so I got horrible cracked nipples...I had to express from that side for 2 weeks before I could put him back on it as it was just too painful, but the rugby ball hold definitely helped once we were getting back into it (just a bit awkward to do when out and about!) anyway, great to hear you and wriggle are getting on well with feeding.

newtothis hope labour doesn't start for you! Grin feels weird to say that when I'm wishing it so much for most of us!!

Right..off to finish dinner then try to finish knitting this blanket!! Baby will prob arrive when I do the last stitch! Grin

saggybaps · 09/05/2012 20:28

I'm fourth due on the list... argh!!

Overdue & hating every minute of being pregnant, but still can't be doing with the birth bit! I have a 'stretch & sweep' tomorrow at 1pm + might book the reflexology induction again for Friday.

I really want to go walking but the weather here is atrocious. Must also check my labour bag as DH threw it together 2 weeks ago when we ended up in hosp.

Well Done myweeangel on your not so wee angel, sounds like a very positive birth.

myweeangel - congrats! Look forward to hearing your birth story :)

mythical - good luck!!

Wrigglebum - great to hear Adam is doing well :)

Newtothisstuff - hope LO stays put for you for the time being!

purestcocoa - hope you get to give birth at the birth centre!

Sympathies to all those frustrated with being overdue.

Thanks for updated list!

Thanks also for happy birthday wishes for DS. We've had a great day and he loved all his presents. Party is on Sunday :)

LimeFlower · 10/05/2012 08:11

Any babies overnight? :)

Gosh,so many posts!

Thanks for the reassurance re hiccup and looking after-together with DH will make the best effort for our little one :)

Went to the city yesterday, stupid car didn't want to start-thought it was a flat battery, turned out to be immobilizer playing up.Car started no bother once DH put the key in Blush the joy of being blonde...

Managed to go to Primark and got whole bag of goodies for a few quid:black full briefs for hospital and strappy tops with breast support-brilliant,firm enough to hold my boobs and pads and not too tight at the same time.

38 weeks today and mw appointment later on-hope everything's ok,trying to think about any questions i might have before the Grand Finale but nothing springs to mind talk about being blonde again-

got the things ready for the hospital bag yesterday-no way i'd squeeze it all into small cabin suitcase-would need a "proper" one

Feeling cr@p last night,my throat gives me a hard time again, will mention that to mw again. The doc said that they can't give me anything for it until I'm pg.Looking forward to have this baby asap so whatever frog is sitting in my throat would go away if it's pg related(hope so) or doc looking at it properly.

Belly still sitting high, baby gave me a fright this week as it must have fallen asleep and didn't move when i went to bed.The hefty wallop that woke me up about 2 hours later was greeted with much relief.

A question to all of you:when did your belly drop and how long did you have till the next stage (and what was it-plug going, contractions, waters?)?

Will catch up with all your posts later in the afternoon, have a good day :)

Harecare · 10/05/2012 11:43

lime I think my belly has been dropped for a few weeks now and no plug. Did have some decent contractions last night and thought this was it, but all gone now. I think the baby can have head engaged and be in perfect position for weeks with nothing happening and similarly it can not have dropped at all and then does and all of a sudden it's all systems go.
I hope your throat gets better soon.
Just had another sweep and the midwife sounded more positive. We're going to DPs Mum's for dinner tonight, so ideally I'd like contractions to start soon please and then leave DDs there after dinner while me and DP go home and have the baby.
Very sleepy now though and I don't think much will happen if I sleep.
Garn!

tostaky · 10/05/2012 12:09

fingers crossed for you harecare!!! Let us know how it went :-)

Limeflower - im afraid but what harecare says is true... you can have lots of signs but nothing will happen for a few weeks...
Last saturday i lost my plug, was 2cm dilated, baby 4/5th engaged... and still nothing.... nada, zilch... im only 38+2 though.

how is everyone? Mythical have you had any more contractions? (or better your baby?!!)

planning to go to central london tomorrow to get DP's fav chocolates and do some window shopping.. (and secretly hoping that a short tube ride will get this baby moving....!!!!)

BlueCrane · 10/05/2012 12:16

Morning all...wow this thread is busy now that babies are on the move Smile think it could be a while before there's news here though I have had (sorry TMI) some clear mucus coming out this morning...though could be (very late) remnants from activity with DH yesterday morning I guess Blush so not getting my hopes up that it's anything of more significance yet!! I am desperately lacking good sleep at the moment as am up for the loo at least once an hour through the night...how my bladder fills up so fast when I'm not drinking anything during the night I have no idea but it's driving me loopy and leaves me feeling sooo drained and tired in the daytime! Last night out with DH tonight - Bill Bailey here we come! And then DM flies in on Saturday morning after which LO can arrive anytime Wink Wink cue little 'hurry up' hints to bump! But, only 37+2 so can't really complain yet - really feel for those of you overdue now!!

Huge congrats to the new arrivals though Grin fab news! Hope all is going well for you all!

I have the joyous task of sorting through a load of work emails that I didn't quite get to before I left the office but really do need to do...once this is done though it is the last of my 'urgent, must do before baby arrives' tasks which will be nice as it has been bugging me for the last two weeks! As you can tell I have made a great start by logging onto my work laptop and first stop is MN Blush MUST focus and crack on...

LittleSarah · 10/05/2012 12:51

Hello all

Well my back has decided to start playing up. Low down muscle pain, not labour related, have had back probs in the past and this is just the same. I get a few twinges sometimes and it usually doesn't last so very much hoping this goes away soon.

Harecare - Hope the sweep works! You deserve your baby!

Lime - As far as I can remember mine have usually dropped down by 35/36 weeks and engaged and I've always gone into labour a day or few before EDD. With dd I lost plug about 3 days prior to labour (midwife thought it wasn't that when I described but I am pretty sure it was) and don't remember losing it at all with ds.

Waiting for midwife now actually. She said last week she would stop round after clinic but no idea what time clinic finishes so quite unsure when she may get her. Could be a totally different clinic to one I am thinking off as well so maybe not til afternoon..? I did try and phone this morning to find out but she wasn't in. Ach well, we'll see. Just hope she doesn't turn up when I am taking dd to piano later.

Feel a bit low today generally. Don't really want baby to come til next week ideally (although delighted if he did arrive early of course) as I have all my plans for dh and paternity and my mum coming to help and so on all worked out, but at the same time I can't be arsed waiting!

LittleSarah · 10/05/2012 14:52

Message from midwife: Different midwife coming tomorrow am. Probably!

LittleSarah · 10/05/2012 15:00

On the upside got a response from my doula course leader: 'WOW that is a really fabulous piece of reflective writing and I am more than delighted to issue you with your certificate of attendance and completion on our Mindful Doulas course ? well done!' Yay! Can relax about that now and look into actually doula-ing in the new year.

Newtothisstuff · 10/05/2012 16:31

Well done littlesarah Grin that's fantastic news

mythical · 10/05/2012 16:40

Ohh well done you!!!
Harecare I hope things will happen for you!
Nothing to report here - no progress - just seems like I'm in v slow early labour with painful contractions! Being examined tomorrow if nothing happens tonight

LittleSarah · 10/05/2012 16:43

Thanks guys!

Good luck mythical! I really hope things speed up for you tonight.

dreamingofanallotment · 10/05/2012 16:51

Well done LittleSarah! Hope your back improves soon.

Keeping fingers crossed for you mythical, hope things get going properly for you soon.

Hope the sweep does the trick for you harecare.

I'm sooo fed up, but know I shouldn't be as I'm only 2 days over and it's my first baby and they tend to be overdue I think? I just keep waking up in the morning thinking 'oh, nothing happened then'. Oh well, there's always tonight! (not sure why I feel like it'll all kick off in the night - is it more common?!)

luckynumber11 · 10/05/2012 19:42

Well done littlesarah, how nice to know that's out of the way and you're ready to go with the doula-ing when you're ready.
Good luck mythical and harecare, I really hope everything gets moving for you soon!
My bump has dropped in the last few days. I don't remember this happening with the last 2 pregnancies. And I'm definitely achier and all round more uncomfortable now than with the last two....but I put some of that down to this being 3rd time round and my internal muscles / ligaments being all stretched out! I will be surprised if this one comes early, even though i do feel really enormous now (again more than with the other two!)

Wrigglebum · 10/05/2012 19:58

Hi all, sorry to those of you who are overdue and fed up. Lots of bouncing on balls and rest are probably best, either that or book and pay in advance for something in a week's time Smile. It's so frustrating having false labour, plus it means when the real thing starts you don't really believe it!

Well, 10 days after CS I am feeling a lot less sore. Went to toddler group this morning and managed a quick walk round the shops. I'm going to speak to my insurance co when I can as I think I'd feel safe to drive in a few more days (could just about do an emergency stop already I think) so I'll see what their policy is on when I can drive. A lot of people say they drove after 3 weeks and I'd be happy with that. Mum and dad are here next week to help out with DS so that will give me a bit more rest.

Had our final midwife appt before we're handed over to the health visitor. Mw said my scar is looking great and my surgeon is known for nice neat scars. Feeding is obviously going even better than I hoped as Adam put on 9oz in 5 days! He's now 6lb 12oz, so 8oz over birth weight at 10 days. No wonder I'm so thirsty all the time.

My weight is now less than a stone over pre-pregnancy weight but I was about half a stone over what I'd realistically like to be so not too far to go I hope! If Adam keeps feeding like he is (and I lay off the choc) then should manage it after a few months I hope, I'm not in a hurry.
