Wrigglebum · 06/05/2012 08:07

Congratulations Oltob! What a gorgeous name, my cousin has a Toby so we couldn't really put it on our list but I think it would have been otherwise. Any middle name?

SESthebrave · 06/05/2012 08:28

Congrats oltob :) Great that you didn't need further intervention.

Tostaky - well done for always questioning if you're not convinced. Hope you won't have to wait too long!

Well eye infection now back in both eyes. (Will def be getting drops today!) I couldn't open either when I first woke up this morning and I seem to be full of cold! Maybe this is a new strategy my body is taking in that they'll look at me on Tues and refuse to admit me because I'm too germ-ridden?!

luckynumber11 · 06/05/2012 08:45

Congratulations oltob, Toby sounds wonderful, and I'm pleased to hear your labour turned out to be straightforward. It must be amazing being able to look at and hold your little boy at last.

LittleSarah · 06/05/2012 09:49

oltob - CONGRATULATIONS!! So pleased to have our first May baby! Sounds like it all went great in the end.

Tostaky - Phew... but it is all beginning to happen then? Are you staying on the ward?

SirCharles - Yup two weeks is suddenly looking like an age, have accepted baby is probably not going to be early so will just make the most of final prep time!

Bodeccia · 06/05/2012 10:07

Ah, I'm glad the supermoon worked on someone oltob Grin! Many congratulations to you and welcome to the world wee Toby Thanks

Sorry to hear about your eyes, ses, what a nightmare! I hope it clears up soon.

saggybaps · 06/05/2012 11:35

Well done oltob I'm hoping the SUPERmoon kicks in today, although I'm so tired in the evenings I hope it's not a through the night labour!

Off for a walk then I think this eve will be spent bouncing on ball doing ironing, hopefully the little monkey will take the hint & shift that final step downwards! Hope everyone enjoying the bank hols.

Catsycat · 06/05/2012 11:40

Well done Oltob glad you are both doing well!

Will you be in now until baby arrives tostaky? Hope everything goes well for you!

SES a pharmacist told me I could wipe my eyes with a mild solution of baby shampoo and water, as well as recommending the Goldeneye ointment. It seemed to help a bit with my blephiritis, so not sure if would work on conjunctivitis too??? No chance it's hayfever / allergy related is there, just wondering if the cold could be also?

LittleSarah I forgot to say to your post on friday, re your step-niece and DS, I've seen similar from a couple of children at our local baby group, who've been fine with their own siblings. My friend's son in particular would be off playing at the other end of the room, but if she ever picked up another (younger) child, he'd be right over, trying to climb on her knee and complaining. When his baby sister arrived last year, he never exhibited any jealousy at all, and adores her. I think it was the difference of the baby being someone else's or "his" iyswim, so hopefully it will work out OK for you both!

SESthebrave · 06/05/2012 12:25

Thanks for the eye sympathy! I guess I haven't mentioned but I'm actually a pharmacist myself! DH went off to the shops this morning with DS so I gave him instructions to get me chloramphenicol drops as you can buy them without prescription now.

DH is winning big brownie points today. My DB, DSil, DMum & DDad are coming over this afternoon. Nearest to DS's birthday that DB will see him. DH went off to shops, took DS, bought everything for roast lamb dinner for everyone and has now come home and put it all in the oven!

The thread is definitely getting busier now we're all checking for new arrivals! It's v exciting - I wonder whether there'll be more today?!

tostaky - hope all going ok for you

Catsycat · 06/05/2012 13:29

Well, that's handy SES! We'll all be coming to you for advice now you've shared that Wink!!! Glad DH is being useful today - enjoy the roast lamb.

LimeFlower · 06/05/2012 14:04

oltob congrats on the first May baby :) enjoy your cuddles, hope the wee one is not too vocal

hope the hiccuping baby in the womb is not an indication of a colicky one later, otherwise i'm in for big troubles Shock

there were 3 preggos in the village each 8 days apart with their EDD (i'm the last one).just had a message that the first one popped last night...

SES you'll have a lot of questions to answer to right now... :o

LittleSarah · 06/05/2012 16:48

Well I spent three hours this morning digging, weeding and planting while dh, mowed, tidied and trimmed, not a twinge! Baby is definitely comfy. Now we have slight role reversal as dh napping upstairs with ds while I watch (or at least have half an eye on) the snooker!

Catsy - Thanks for reassurance re ds1 and ds to be... I guess it has to make some difference that this one will be around 24/7. Ds has always been so clingy with me and dh (dd would go off with anyone!) and has only recently really started to bond with others like my mum and dad I just don't know how he'll be. He is such a good natured wee chap though so I'm hoping he'll adapt quickly (ish).

Good luck with your walking and bouncing saggy!

SES - Hope the eyes are better soon, glad dh is doing you proud.

Weird thing: I am not weeing in the night. I'm sure with dd and ds that I was up at least two or three times by this point (in fact more with dd). Now I seem to be able to go from 11ish to 6ish, I am quite amazed. Is my bladder stretchier this time too....?

Also, after pains. I don't remember getting these badly before but is that perhaps the hormones tricking me? My cousin said they get worse with each baby and the midwife wanted to check that I has paracetamol and a hot water bottle ready! Slightly concerned about the level of pain I am now supposed to expect post labour!

cupcakefairy · 06/05/2012 18:03

Hooray congrats to oltob! Fabulous news and so glad the birth went well for you. Lovely name too.

Littlesarsh I don't remember any after pains except the ones in my episiotomy and later on with the piles!! Blush I'm sure not everyone gets them badly..
I too am worried about how my ds will be with baby but he is fascinated by them whenever we see them at playgroups etc so hopefully will be fine. I've been trying to show him with his igglepiggle teddy what we do with baby...so do little nappy changes, put him in the moses basket, stroke him & say 'shhhh'...he loves doing all that so I'm hoping on some level will understand what's going on when I'm doing that to baby! He too is a very good-natured little boy so I'm sure they'll be fine :)

ses hope the eye stuff helps.. at this point I'm getting very antsy about any illnesses around me, hate the idea of being ill and going into labour!!

tostaky hope you're ok? Wonder if she's in labour now!

Itchy bump still driving me MAD...dh keeps telling me off for scratching it Blush

BlueCrane · 06/05/2012 18:14

Hello all! So glad to hear all went well oltob and safe arrival of Toby!

Sorry for lack of posting, had v busy day on Friday and again yesterday and bad sleep both nights so am soooo tired at the moment...though DH currently fast asleep on the sofa...may have to get him to budge up! Had a bit of a hormonal emotional moment last night trying to get my head around the waiting game of the next 3-5 weeks...only 37weeks on Tuesday! In part I feel quite good to have a further 3 weeks until edd, but then I wonder how much longer I can wait with the heartburn, bad sleep and being painful everywhere from sore pelvis and being kicked in the side and ribs constantly! But at least baby's room is sorted now and I'm feeling a bt more organised about everything.

Afraid eyes are shutting so am going to try a little lie down...catch up again later.

tostaky · 06/05/2012 18:31

Yay! Congrats otlob!!! Glad the birth was straight forward Smile
Can't wait to hear more about your birth!

I've been discharged from hosp as they think placenta is fine. I'm not sure the baby will make its edd though! I'm 37+4, we will see.
It was really odd last night going from maternity triage to delivery room to ante natal ward! Glad I had my doula and do, it is great to have a little team with me Smile

Re- conjunctivitis: I've always used infused camomille flowers - wash my eyes with it when it has cooled down.

Good luck to those waiting Wink

purestcocoa · 06/05/2012 22:20

Congratulations Oltob I hope you and baby are doing very well.

Tostaky After reading your earlier posts, it's a relief that all is well. Going to the hospital unexpectedly can be very tiring, so it's lovely that you have great support behind you.

I have calmed down since the neighbour drama and I do love my widgey. I didn't realise that it is so multi=functional. I spent a chilled weekend with DP, unfortunately, he has to work tomorrow. I'm 40 weeks today! I have a midwife appointment and second acupuncture treatment this week. Fingers crossed.

Keep iy coming May babies :)

luckynumber11 · 06/05/2012 23:26

Hi, just to say to limeflower and her colicky baby / hiccups question...don't worry too much, I don't think the 2 things are necessarily linked. Dd1 was very hiccupy during pregnancy, but was a relatively straightforward baby, some evening crying in the early weeks, but she soon settled down and didn't have serious colic. On the other hand, Dd2 barely hiccuped at all when inside, but turned out to have serious reflux for her whole first year, which meant lots of crying, regular projectile vomiting of whole feeds, and never sleeping for more than an hour at a time all through the night up until her 1st birthday! An absolutely knackering time for us, but I guess she was in quite a lot of discomfort. So this time with dd3 I am getting more hiccups again... Hoping this means she'll be more of a dd1 kind of baby!

Harecare · 07/05/2012 08:09

Bank holiday baby please!
Congratulations Oltob, I wonder if you liked the name Toby before you came up with your MN name? Maybe a merge of Olive and Toby?
The wedding weekend was great and totally undisturbed by the baby. I was shattered by about 7pm on Saturday - missed my afternoon sleep so had a kip and then back down for some dancing all refreshed which surprised everyone. I can't believe how much effort I wasted bouncing etc to get the baby out earlier when I should have known she'd be late. I was quite worried last week about not being able to go to the wedding at all and have been mildly stressed for the last 9 months so it's nice to be able to relax now.
Just as well I stayed on the May thread when my scan date came earlier than my calculations or I'd probably be the only one without a baby in the April thread!
Have a sweep booked for tomorrow and DP has suggested we have a curry tonight and is back in our bed - hooray! Still not in love again, but we're being nice to one another which is a start.
How much am I allowed to ignore the children on this bank holiday as I just want to sleep, watch tv and read the paper? DP needs to work.

cupcakefairy · 07/05/2012 10:05

What are all these lazy May babies doing?? We need some more birth announcements! I'm having some.pregnancy photos done today by a friend who's got quite a new photography business.. quite exciting to have some good bump pics but also scared I'll look washed out & tired! Lots of makeup needed.. currently sat in leisure centre cafe in my slobbiest clothes watching dh & ds swim, lovely. :)

Hope we hear news soon that there were a couple of bank holiday weekend babies!

harecare greet news about the progress with dh. Baby steps! Glad u enjoyed wedding too.

cocoa 40 weeks today! Hope the acu works its magic!

LittleSarah · 07/05/2012 11:11

Oh cupcake well jealous of your photo shoot! I'm sure you'll look fab.

Yes, come on babies! A week into May and just the one.... no no no. Perhaps mythical...??

limeflower - I too have had hiccough-y babies in the womb with no colic when out. Well one - ds - no colic, no hiccoughs that I can recall from dd and no colic either. So far this one is pretty hiccough-y, will have to wait and see!

myweeangel · 07/05/2012 12:55

waters just broken girls - wish me luck.......

mythical · 07/05/2012 13:04

Good luck!!!!! Fingers crossed for you!!

Newtothisstuff · 07/05/2012 13:17

dreamingofanallotment · 07/05/2012 13:45

Good luck myweeangel! This gives me hope as you are my due date buddy I think!
I've had niggly periody pains this morning but all seems to have faded now - but I have had a lovely cuddle with a 5 day old baby this morning so maybe that'll get things going!

LittleSarah · 07/05/2012 14:27

Woo hoo weeangel! Hopefully a bank holiday baby after all! So exciting!

(Will update list with angel's and oltob's babies when we hear the news!)
