Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mythical · 02/05/2012 15:19

I apologize in advance for the tmi question but can a plug not be bloody? I think I might have just lost mine - I'm due tomorrow. It was v thick and like a big gloop but it was yellow
Things might be looking up for me?

Bodeccia I think until you move out you might have to put up with them but cupboard afterwards definitely.

My mum keeps saying nan is asking me when I've booked the christening for ( my family are Christian orthodox and fon't live in the uk)
Also in our country babies ears are pierced v young and I definitely don't want that..

Newtothisstuff · 02/05/2012 16:48

That's what I had yesterday mythical, I was at the hospital anyway and the midwife had a peek and she said yes to it being my plug, no blood in mine either !! Grin how exciting ! Your baby might make the due date Grin

dreamingofanallotment · 02/05/2012 16:52

Ooh fingers crossed mythical! I don't think plug is always bloody - I lost some at about 32 weeks and it sounds very similar to yours. Hope it means baby is imminent!

Bodeccia - back of a cupboard sounds the best place for those wall hangings! Can you go with a 'we don't want anything hanging over the baby so can't put them above cot/nursing chair/changing mat etc etc??

Good luck oltob! Hope all has gone well today.

Hope all is still going well wrigglebum and that your ds was v pleased to see you at home!

I watched a breast crawl video on youtube a while back LittleSarah - they're amazing!

Well I'm ready for this baby to come now, I've had enough of being achy etc! the texts asking 'how I am/any twinges/only x days to go' have started already - I still have 6 days until I'm due! I dread to think how many messages I'll be getting if I go overdue!

All this talk of pate and cheese has made me very Envy I can't wait to have a brie and cranberry sandwich..mmmm!

tostaky · 02/05/2012 17:00

Exciting mythical ! Baby is not far now!!

I've just watched an episode of one born every minute and cried each time a baby was delivered!

I've been having Braxton hicks I think unless they are very early contractions. I'm only 37 weeks and have been late for DS1 and 2 so I don't put my hopes too high...

I've cleaned the fridge too today Grin

Hope everybody is doing well and that we'll have some announcement soon!!!Wink

LimeFlower · 02/05/2012 17:25

come on mythical and Newtothis any twinges yet

i'm dreading to see the plug-trying to convince myself "it will be just like a big snot" but still urghhh,i don't like the thought of all this things my body will expell before and after the baby Blush

dreaming that's why when i was asked about my EDD i always said vaguely "at the end of May" but my DH started to give the accurate date.now i'm just waiting resigned when the texts/mails/calls will start

baby has at least one hiccup a day-first one usually wakes me up in the morning, second either in the afternoon or evening.

cleaned the house a bit-sorted out a few things in the cupboards and got rid of some tat-hope it's not this "nesting instinct" yet Hmm

mythical · 02/05/2012 17:30

have a dull ache in my pelvis but then again i do most days.. however I may or may not be be bouncing around like an idiot on the gym ball at the moment.. :o

purestcocoa · 02/05/2012 17:49

Thanks for the nursing pillow advice! I've ordered my widgey and the spare cow cover from Asda.com. Where would I be without mumsnet? :).

I'll jump on the tmi train- Mythical and Newtothis -I was losing bits of yellow mucus all day on Monday. I also thought I lost my plug at 36 weeks but that was a lot clearer than this time. Now it's just the usual discharge. I still have 4 days to go until my due date. I'm curious to see if the acupuncture has any effect on Friday. Anyone tried it before?

dreaming the messages have started for me already. I keep on repeating that I will tell everyone when she arrives as I doubt they want to know the contents of my underwear. I might start with the cheeky responses soon Grin.

Lime my baby gets hiccups a lot and my midwife said that I should buy infacol.

Happy May everyone!

purestcocoa · 02/05/2012 17:51

ooooh...keep on bouncing mythical!

Harecare · 02/05/2012 18:53

bodeccia Put them up in the room the baby will be in at your Mum's and then make sure they stay there so baby is familiar with the room should she ever sleep over - it'll please your Mum and you won't have to look at them for long.
mythical - very exciting!
I had a faint yesterday after DD1s swimming lesson - just too hot. Had to lie on a red blanket in the 1st aid room while a Mum I don't know got DD1 dressed. I thought it had triggered something and I may have the baby today, but nothing. The next few days are going to be so tough. Holding in the baby when she's blatantly a 9 pounder is tricky. Need to lie on my back more with my feet up!

Catsycat · 02/05/2012 20:45

Oooh, very exciting here, mucus and all!!! Good luck everyone with plugs, twinges etc!

Harecare, hope you are OK. Couldn't face the 2 DDs lessons on monday myself - the poolside is just boiling, so I can see how you might faint.

bodeccia those hangings sound absolutely vile. How does elastic come into it???? Can you post a photo Wink? I would really try to not get round to putting them up, or look for some "genuine" excuse not to do it (dry cleaning chemicals do need to be properly aired out of fabrics before they are worn, for example, so I would imagine they would need to air for a good while before hanging over a cot.... Grin ).

Catsycat · 02/05/2012 20:46

Also bodeccia check the hangings carefully for any mildew - any mould and you won't be able to hang them up at all - what a shame!

BlueCrane · 02/05/2012 21:40

Evening all! Exciting to hear of 'plug reports' must say that now I start to think about it I'm not really looking forward to seeing mine, should I have the pleasure Hmm Been getting quite irritated with myself about how tired I am but have had a better day today which is good. MW and docs tomorrow so will see a) how beany is doing and whether he/she is head down or anyway engaged yet?! and b) chat to doc about this heartburn which was back with a vengence today Angry eitherway I need to buy another bottle of gaviscon!

oltob hope all goes well tomorrow!!

wriggle glad to hear you're home safe and well!

Hoping for some more news from the 'plug losers' in the next day or so...it's all suddenly happenning and I still have nearly 4 weeks until my due date

dreamingofanallotment · 02/05/2012 21:55

I've just spent an hour bouncing on my ball - I feel like the baby has moved even further down...feels v weird!

I've just channel hopped and landed on the 'Nine Months' (uber cheesy 90s film with Hugh grant!) and there was some comment about the maternity ward being busy because of the full moon - May's full moon is this Sunday so maybe there'll be a spate of babies on Sunday eve! (I'm hoping I'll be one of them!!)

Harecare - hope you've got your feet up this evening!

cupcakefairy · 02/05/2012 23:08

bluecrane Shock can't you get gaviscon on prescription? Those massive bottles cost a fortune I'm so glad for free prescriptions! And don't worry about the 4 weeks to go thing, I bet you'll have baby before me & I'll end up hanging on til June again! :)

Also I never saw a mucus plug with ds..and never had the dramatic waters breaking thing, think they just leaked the whole way through labour..so you won't necessarily see all the fluids ;)

harecare hope you're ok, sounds unpleasant! I stopped ds's swimming classes a few weeks ago I was just getting way too exhausted from them so you're a hero still doing it! I'm hoping we can start again in Sept if someone can watch baby.

mythical good luck! Hope this is it & u get to be in the 5% who give birth on their due date!

Well I have booked my wax in for tues so baby is not allowed to come til after that!! Grin
Night all x

luckynumber11 · 03/05/2012 00:01

Hi everyone, well done to all of you with "plug" shows, looking forward to some more baby arrivals in the next few days! Good luck for tomorrow oltob.
I just wanted to come on here tonight with a big :), as I finally finished at work today. Can't remember if anyone else on here is still working? It's a great feeling to finally be out of that routine. But I would definitely like this baby to come on her due date, rather than early, as i need 2 weeks at home to get myself ready and the house a bit more prepared..and I hope a bit of rest before everything kicks off? It's strange, today has suddenly made everything feel a bit more real, it's not like my head didn't know what was coming, but today I've really had to face up to the fact that in a matter of days I will be going into labour / giving birth again, and there really will be a baby in the house again in a matter of days, all being well. I can't quite believe it, my life is about to change massively isn't it?!

cupcakefairy · 03/05/2012 08:24

lucky I feel the same, it's only just started to hit me that I'm actually having an actual baby! I remember the same feeling with ds just not being able to imagine what it would be like.. but it just seemed so natural once he was here :) sure we'll be fine (or I'm just massively in denial!!)

Woke with quite bad period-type pains in the night, wondered if things were happening but no.. here begins up to 3 or 4 weeks of wondering 'if things are happening'!

mythical · 03/05/2012 09:25

Agh is this really happening? It's my due date today... That means I'm having a baby soon!!?
I am bricking it a bit scared?
:o

Beeboles · 03/05/2012 09:41

38+5 (as far as i got with ds1!) Period pains last night,up for hours wondering if this could be it. Still got pains now but not regular, just constant, back and front. On birthing ball now. Got MW appointment today. Good luck everyone!

Beeboles · 03/05/2012 09:49

I can't imagine having a baby round the house again either!
Take a deep breath mythical Grin, you are not alone in feeling like that. This is number 3 for me and i still feel anxious and overwhelmed at times.

Mikocat · 03/05/2012 11:33

Hello all

Apologies for the silence - I have my baby!

On 25/5 I was taken in for induction following my midwife check-up as I had developed pre-eclampsia, DH and I had a couple of hours to go home and pack our bags and then at 9 p.m. They started the induction process.

At 4 a.m. On 26/6 they gave me the next lot of Prostaglandin and then another at noon. I had pethidine, then an epidural, all my nice ideas about the lovely water birth went out of the window as the pre-eclampsia needed continuos monitoring. :-(.

I got as far as 9cm dilated and then they started picking up signs of foetal distress and took me to theatre for emergency c-section.

At 4.24 my daughter was born, I didn't realise that I'd had a post-partum haemorrhage, but it explains why we were monitored for so long afterwards. I couldn't hold her in my arms for two hours until the drugs wore off, so DH had lots of nice bonding time. As soon as they showed her to me I fell in love, I never knew that a newborn could be so beautiful, I always thought they were a bit ugly really! She weighed 7lbs 8ozs.

We were kept in the post-labour ward until late Tuesday evening, a long and miserable experience for us both, with lots of tests on us both for various reasons to do with the PE.

But finally we are home! It's exhausting but wonderful, my daughter, April, is the most amazing thing to ever happen to DH and I.

Wishing all you ladies much better experiences of birth and babies just as wonderful.

Mikocat · 03/05/2012 11:35

Sorry she was born on 27th April, if thats not clear! Baby brain!

tostaky · 03/05/2012 11:49

Congratulations mikocat!!! Glad you had your baby and are now safely home.
Same story happened to me with DS1 (except PE). I hope you are managing ok with the cs scar, it does get better very quickly trust me! And at least you have your pelvic floor intact Wink. Enjoy your baby girl!!! Grin and you can still try for a vbac next time Smile

Good luck bumble bee!!! Fingers cross for you!!
Not long now mythical!! No baby is staying inside forever, it is just a matter of days!

I'm knackered but I will try to do things today as opposed to slobbing it on the sofa like yesterday! Had a lovely cafe with a friend earlier. I also picked up DS2 stomach bug which means that any cramps or twinges in my belly means toilet NOT labour Blush

Can't wait to hear other good news!!!

tostaky · 03/05/2012 11:50

Sorry not bumblebee but beebhole

SESthebrave · 03/05/2012 12:10

Apologies for my absence, I'm only 36+4 and had my last day at work on Sunday.

Congrats to all the new arrivals. It's been great reading through and hearing the stories, gorgeous names and happy arrivals :)
Who's going to be next then?!

As for me....yet again I look destined to not experience a natural birth and worse could have to sit it out in hospital from the middle of next week before a CS at 39 weeks. Really not sure how DS or I would cope with being apart for that time and the impact it will have on his acceptance or resentment of DC2. Will have to try and make his hospital visits fun Hmm
The issue is that with the baby in the position it is, if my waters break the cord is likely to fall straight through and rupture (or worse if round baby's neck and there's also a risk of prolapse.
Consultant has said if baby is still in same position at next Tuesday afternoon's appointment, there is a high chance they will admit me immediately. I did explain that it was DS's birthday on Wednesday and asked if it could be delayed until the Thursday and the registrar just kind of looked at me in a way that wasn't positive! It is also DS's birthday party the following Sunday! I'm hoping that if the worst happens, I'll be let out for a few hours on both his birthday and for his party.

Of course I'm aware that the worst might not happen but the fact that DS was in a similar awkward position and didn't move, the consultant has said all the way along that once it's happened with one pg, it's likely to happen again and the fact that I don't think that the baby has moved position for a few weeks, makes me think that the option of the baby getting in the right position is pretty slim.
In the meantime, whereas I was hoping to have 3-4 weeks at least to get everything ready for the new baby, I now potentially have to be ready for next Tuesday just in case!

DH is being great and helping to talk through ways of working round this. His theory is is let's plan for worst case scenario and if anything better happens - great, it's a bonus.

Sorry for me post but it helps to try and get my head round it all!
I'm busy trying to get everything ready but will try to keep up a bit better on here (especially now I don't have to go to work too!)

BlueCrane · 03/05/2012 13:07

Morning all...well, 36+2 MW check this morning and LO is head down but not engaged yet she also just said 'keep on with the gaviscon' and din't seem even remotely inclined to offer anything else, nor to ask the doc for a prescription for it so I will keep on glugging away the £'s of lovely chalky stuff Confused Otherwise all well and I even managed to go for a swim Smile and am meeting a couple of the ladies from my NCT group for coffee/tea and cake this afternoon which will be nice.

miko huge congrats!! So sorry it all happened in a different way to how you'd hoped but glad to hear that you and DD are doing ok!

SES that sounds tough...sorry to hear LO not playing ball and getting a shifty on into the right position, must be so frustrating for you! Hope the house sorting goes well!

I'm procrastinating a bit quite a lot at the moment so haven't actually got that much done around the flat yet, though I did sort through a pile of admin at 4:30am as was awake from then until 6am before I went back to sleep...straaange sleeping patterns starting! Beany was wide awake and kicking at 4:30am as well though so maybe he/she is trying to educate me on their preferred routine Hmm

Happy bouncing to all those on their balls!!
