Hello everyone, hope you've had good weekends. Hasn't it turned cold?! Hope all you dizzy ladies are taking it easy. I've got my 16 week check on Thursday and I can't think about anything else but hearing baby's heartbeat as without symptoms or movement, I have no idea what's going on inside there. Does anyone else worry?

I've got a school friend I haven't seen in years (and am not likely too as she's in Ireland and I'm in the UK now) but we are friends on facebook and have a lot of mutual friends plus we are from quite a small town.....anyway she had a little boy about 2 months ago and is using "our" boys name. I intend to use the name anyway if we have a boy as we won't encounter each ever really but I do know because of bloody Facebook, there will be some raised eyebrows at home. It's not a common name but I have always always loved it. DD's name is the same as a uni's friend's DD's name, born 2 months apart but again names were thought of independently but we spell them differently - I use a traditional Irish spelling and she has anglisced hers.

I've got a wedding next month and bough a second hand dress for a tenner off ebay and it's perfect - a sparkly Debenhams number x

What happens at a 16 week check? I have mine this week too though I'm not quite 16 weeks :)

MakeTeaNotWar · 16/04/2012 11:46

Usual checks of wee and blood pressure then the midwife will listen to baby's heartbeat Smile

elvislives2012 · 16/04/2012 13:40

popcorn I am intrigued...... how did u find that out?!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 16/04/2012 13:46

Lol - DH spilled a bag of lawn fertiliser on his newly laid, freshly watered turf - when he tried to clear it up he ended up with burns (albeit not severe) on his hands. The lawn also "burned" and died, and he had to returf where he'd spilled the fertiliser.

cakes82 · 16/04/2012 15:21

I've got my 16 week check on Thurs too i'm only 16w on the Fri though. I've persuaded dh to come so he can hear heartbeat too! Also wishing more symptoms so I knew all was well. I can't believe how quickly everything seems to be going, worked out earlier only about 23wks left!

Guccigirl79 · 16/04/2012 16:58

Is anyone having trouble controlling their squirting eyes?! I have just had an episode on the phone to the clinic trying to book 4d scan in,first woman I spoke with said I had to wait til mid July & could only do friday's or saturday's even though I explained we can only do a Wed or Sun.The second lady I spoke to said the same til I explained situation couldn't control my eyeballs & she found me a sunday just like that!! Why do people give such crap customer service??!! Sorry for moaning but bad customer service really pisses me off!!!!

Pheebs24 · 16/04/2012 17:08

Hi Gucci I'm properly leaky eyes-wise at the moment - even some ads on the tv have set me off!! Its awful cos I'm not a crier normally, so my family will make the most of it...

But at least I didn't need tissues at my scan this morning - I was sat preparing myself, with Mum on the way to hold my hand, and a letter plopped onto the hall floor to tell me the scan has been moved to Wednesday! :(

I was getting quite excited too... but nevermind, good things come to those who get shoved down the NHS waiting list, or something Grin

Just got to explain to my in-laws that they won't set eyes on their first grandchild just yet, and hope DH got one of my text messages so he doesn't panic trying to ring me from wherever he is in the world.

Hope you get to see yours tomoz Loopy! Enjoy!

Gucci - Oh my this week has been terrible in the leaky eyes department.

I watched Finding Neverland - BIG mistake. Bawled my eyes out at the end, got quite embarrassed when DH came out of the bath and saw me. Luckily he is lovely and just gave me a big hug and I was able to laugh it off as hormones.

Then could barely contain myself for a couple scenes in the Hunger Games. Had to stare at the roof in the theater to keep from totally crying.

Then on the radio this morning I heard a little story about some dogs (not sure if I should repeat it on here or we may have enough tears to sink the titanic) and I totally broke down bawling my eyes out again while driving through rush hour traffic.

LoopyLa · 16/04/2012 18:01

Oh Pheebs that would really piss me off!! So sorry to hear you've had yours delayed. I'm Angry on your behalf!!

Sorry ladies, I'm totally Grin at your leaky eyes. I have them too but your stories are making me giggle!!

LoopyLa · 16/04/2012 18:03

Thanks Thunderboltkid I'm doing half day at work tomorrow - am I kidding myself or what that I'll do anything?!!

DameFlatYouLent · 16/04/2012 19:42

Another one with leaky eyes - has anyone been watching the Big C? At the end of last week's episode I just bawled and bawled and bawled. DH was like this Shock

MsInterpret · 16/04/2012 19:55

I must be made of steel - no leaky eyes here atm.

Famous last words - I will definitely be due for a big bawl-out soon then, won't I?

Have 16 week check tomorrow, (I'll be 16+4) and i agree - SO looking forward to hearing the heartbeat. I cant wait!

What a pain about the scan moving Pheebs but agree, better to know bfore you arrived at the hospital!

elvislives2012 · 16/04/2012 21:01

popcorn Haha I'll remember not to do that!
I have leaky eyes at the mere mention of the PG or family or anything related to babies. Good grief, I hope It's not always like this....

LoopyLa · 17/04/2012 07:56

Scan day!!! Wahoooooo! .....

Is it 4pm yet?!?

Confused Wink

Bubblebell1 · 17/04/2012 08:57

Morning girls.

Good luck today loopy. Hope the time passes quickly.
pheebs , wishing you luck for tomorrow too.

I'm a lil bit leaky, cried at disneys Tarzan Hmm. Most embarrassingly if the kids argue I cry too. Blush.

Took ds1 to the tower of London yesterday. Was a brilliant day out but I must have over exerted myself running around with an 11 year old because everything aches. Right from the tip of my toes to the banging headache ive got.
Also got the tell tale pubic pain of spd. I so hope I don't get that this time. It's bloody agony Sad

Hope your all well. Grin

Bear1984 · 17/04/2012 10:06

Good luck Loopy and pheebs for your scans!

I am now 14 weeks, and have been feeling the worst this past week! It's driving me mad, surely I should be getting better? I had to go to hospital over the weekend as I thought I was dehydrated but turned out I was okay, but they said I may have picked up some kind of infection or virus but they couldn't be 100%. I've been off work the past two days, and I'm going to see my GP in an hour as I know she'll be able to help me a bit more as she knows me and my medical history better.

I have been very tired, I've got bags under my eyes as my stomach gets so uncomfortable when I get into bed. DP is flipping the mattress today for me to see if that helps. I have one of those cushions as well for bumps but it doesn't seem to really help at the moment.

Last night I was getting really sharp pains in my sides and in my stomach. DP had to help me walk to the bedroom and climb into bed as it hurt a lot. This was something I had over the weekend as well, which I told the doctor I saw but he said he didn't think it was anything to worry about, but now I'm worrying again so we shall see!

From the scans I have had baby is very active which makes me wonder as to whether that is why I feel worse now since baby is getting bigger. I had to go see a consultant and they did a scan which I was not expecting so it was lovely to see baby again and baby was waving away Grin but as DD was very small when born (4lbs 13.5oz), they want me to have routine scans to check baby is growing well, so I have scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks as well as the 20 week one.

Anyway hope everyone else is feeling much better than I am! Lol.

pinpan · 17/04/2012 10:23

Good luck, scan people! Can't wait for my next scan next week. Bear, sorry you're feeling bad Thanks - hope you can keep the worry suppressed and just enjoy extra peeks at your little one along the way!

I got up this morning (reluctantly), felt okay, showered, was just trying to try my toes when my back gave me ten minutes of absolute agony. It was weird. I guess everything is just loosening up and falling apart. Confused It felt pretty much fine again once I'd managed to crawl into clothes, though I have spent all day being much more aware of having something in my bump, rather than just feeling fat...

Guccigirl79 · 17/04/2012 10:52

Good luck to those with scans today hope all goes well :)

Ooooo I felt a definate 'lump' just underneath my belly button last night, which I can only assume/hope it's my uterus with something lurking inside!! I was quite taken aback really, then I got DP to feel & he kept saying 'dont prod it,tiddler wont like it' lol bless him I'm sure he thinks it will fall out with poking!! :)

LoopyLa · 17/04/2012 11:27

Guccigirl your post made me Grin How far are you now?

I can't for the bump to move into the tummy area. I'm 12+2 so low at the moment and squeezing into normal clothes (the bloating has subsided too, yay!) still but looking forward to embracing maternity wear! Smile

Guccigirl79 · 17/04/2012 12:05

Loopyla I'm 14+2 now due 14th oct. I have been wearing my maternity jeans for the last couple of weeks now & I thoroughly recommend them to you, they are soooo comfy! :) I got a few bits from the next sale & think they still have some items online so would recommend there,I keep being told to try H & M but as I loathe going into town that may not happen lol

Bear1984 · 17/04/2012 12:54

I've just been to the doctors. They think I may have an infection so I have to go down to the hospital later to be checked over. Not looking forward to it as I was reading up on my symptoms and then read that it could be ectopic pregnancy so I quickly closed the web page down before I start freaking myself out and will just wait til the appointment to see what they say still freaking out...

McPopcornMouseNFries · 17/04/2012 13:12

How far along are you bear? I'd have thought by now the baby would be a decent size and it would be really obvious (i.e. VERY painful) if you had an ectopic?

McPopcornMouseNFries · 17/04/2012 13:13

PS - don't freak out! What I mean is, it's way more likely to be a UTI or something at this stage I'm sure :)
