Hello Ladies,

Sorry to have been an absentee for a while. Lots of things to deal with in RL & didn't want to continue with my 'poor me' posts.

So I'm back now with a PMA.

Had 20wk scan & discovered #3 is a girl. We are all absolutely over the moon. Boys were desperate for a sister, they cannot wait to meet her.
She has a name we all adore and already is as much a part of our family as if she was here. (Getting to this point has been a struggle but I got there in the end)

We have maxed the plastic buying everything pink we clap eyes on. I have got most of her big stuff now so i'm double bluffing fatè. In a 'if i'm completely ready I will carry her to term' kinda way.

Have scans booked for 28,32 & 36wks and i'm being seen every 2wks for Bp & urine checks. There is talk of giving me steroids at 28 just incase but will see what the scan shows and what my Bp is doing at the time. So far so good and i'm feeling really well.

Great to read about all the pinks & blues. I'm afraid I must confess I haven't kept up will all the posts, Ladies we talk too much!

Hope this finds you all happy, healthy & still managing the odd full nights kip. Grin

ChateauMargot · 11/03/2012 11:58

CathFin, Kveta, Kayzr, TDW - yes, sounds like sciatica, doesn't it? Weirdly, after getting more regular over the last week to the point that it was almost constant on Friday, I've had no pain all weekend. Really really hoping this means it was just a one-off, but shall see. Am doing a preggy yoga class once a week, and using some of the exercises before bed, so that might help. blondie, shall try clenching, too!

TDW - That sounds very much like the sort of thing we have in mind for our birth plan! Learned about delaying the cutting of the cord yesterday, and definitely will include that.

thedogwalker · 11/03/2012 14:43

Hi all,
Cathfin, think I'm going to delete the birth pool part, as I started in a pool for DS1 but came out and I'm not that fussed this time, much prefer to be walking about, as I do not want to be put on my back and strapped to a monitor.
Stuntnun that is wonderful news, so happy for you Grin.
Boysrstupid nice to have you back, we dont mind you coming on here for a good old moan, that's what we're all here for, so don't stay away so long in future. Congratulations on the girl.

I'm shattered today, I went swimming with my 18 month old this morning, then raking leaves and mowing the garden, this afternoon, which is on a slope from hell with a petrol lawnmower which isn't that light to push around and all whilst 6 months pregnant. Now just the cake to ice, that I baked this morning and then maybe I can sit down and enjoy some with a nice cuppa. Roll on DH getting home for good in 2 and a half months.
Hope everyone is well, take care xx

MammaInTheMaking · 11/03/2012 15:13

Congratulations Stunt that's super lovely that you got your BFP and things are going well.

Had the dreaded calf cramp last night and DP is abroad on a stag do so nobody there to stretch it out. Argh it was awful, got a v sore leg today.

Gorgeous day in London today, I had a Magnum icecream Grin

bemybebe · 11/03/2012 16:27

Fantastic news stunt Grin How exciting!!!!!!!!
Good luck to you and the bump!

Novmama · 11/03/2012 17:43

Evening everyone. Just managed to catch up with the new thread. Have been away for a week's hols (Centerparcs) not relaxing at all and I think I'll puke if I go swimming again for a while! At least it was a change of scene and great for DD - she loved it. Plus will be only hol this year for obvious reasons. Already planning to save for a hot holiday next year before DD starts school and we cannot go out of season.

Anyway everyone who has had colds/flu - same here - back to back colds for us. Caught one whilst we were away - literally couldn't breathe. Feeling breathless as it is.... Have lucozade test/FBC again to test iron levels - but know they are still low as I feel like death warmed up. Plus have to have anti D this week. I'm also feeling tearful - anything can send me off.

Think its harder being pregnant in winter - last time was summer and I felt great. Roll on June!

Back to work tomorrow - need to work out when to take ML from and how long I can take - hopefully the year if its affordable.

Oh well - keep smiling all - we are getting there....

ecstatica · 11/03/2012 21:23

Hello everyone,
I haven't managed to catch up on as much as I would usually, but life got very busy recently and I've been SUPER tired and grumpy! I'm also going away next week (must be mad travelling the way i feel but I won't have the DC with me so hopefully can just rest when necessary and will be ok on flight). Must admit that although i was very much against the concept of the Kindle, I am now enjoying the convenience of downloading books for the flight and quiet time :)

Now feel 100% pregnant....12 week countdown :) Is anyone else finding it impossible to sleep Hmm I can honestly cry out of sheer frustration. I ended up with the Dream Genie pillow up at my neck so that I could sit upright using one of the supports as a headrest!!!! It's up, down, painkiller, wee, emotional roller coaster most of the night.

Okay, so who wants to be my hospital bag partner? :) Whoever is going to start hospital bag packing first can count me in please. Once I return from abroad end of month I'd like to get mine ready...and have someone to swap notes with. Dalrymps If you are expecting on your EDD (if that makes sense) we are very close in delivery time :)

I hope I haven't missed too much. I'm sorry about K's loss, hope TDW had quality time with DH, that Milly is better, Warlin's house sale went through and everyone else is ok. Will try to start logging in daily again.

I also only seem capable of cooking one big meal a day now. The children think its great, we have eaten out 3 times this week Blush Kitchen full of food but too damn tired and heavy to cook it more than once a day, if that! Tsk Tsk.

:)

DairyNips · 12/03/2012 08:49

Morning ladiesSmile (Dalrymps here)

Ooh ecstatica did you mean me? I'm
Due 6th June though (although have been 2 weeks 'late' the last two times).

Anyway, whether your meant me or not I'm now suddenly realising that I actually have to think about packing my labour bagShock I think I'm a little bit in denial as I don't feel prepared yet. I want to majorly sort through all the crap in our house before number 3 gets here and have the house in a reasonable state. Trying to do this whilst fitting in my OU is proving difficult Hmm

How is everyone today? I slept ok last night but some nights am just tossing and turning all night long. We have been the house of illness this week, ds2 and I caught another cold, dh has a terrible cough and ds1 has had a temp/virus for days. Thankfully it seems to be passing for all of us now.

Kayzr · 12/03/2012 09:58

Morning everyone

I have had an awful morning, meant to be having my GTT. First XH rang to say he was ill so couldn't take the boys to school. Then my stepdads car kinda blew up in a dramatic fashion. Very loud bang and smoke from under the bonnet!!

So no GTT for me today. Luckily I rang the maternity ward and they've said I can have it at the doctors surgery here instead of having to go to the hospital. So that is now the 20th which is DS1's 5th birthday.

I am so pleased that I am able to get it done at the surgery instead as it makes life a million times easier. I really don't know why they don't do that already, they did with DS2.

I hope you are all well, I am on the countdown to DP's return. About 12 days to go!

justwantcheese · 12/03/2012 10:35

Kveta sorry you're having such a bad time. Sleep deprevation is horrible and you sound like you have a busy life. Thanks for making me smile with your drop kick quote
Feeling very rough today, looking after 3 kids spd and really knackered. Roll on ml and June! Q

Fanbelt · 12/03/2012 11:41

Morning all,

Boysrstupid sounds like you've got a similar situation to me - I'm on #3 and after having two boys, we were told at 20wks (with all the usual provisos) that this one's a girl. I haven't gone too crazy with the pink (yet!) but we've already got a name and I feel very different this time around knowing it's a girl. I've also got growth scans booked in for 28, 32 and 36 wks 'cos of problems in previous pgs (pre-eclampsia and IUGR). The 28 wk one's tomorrow and I'm starting to feel a bit nervous as I've been told, given what's happened in the past, they won't hesitate in whipping her out if they think there's any hint she's not thriving. All of which means (Ecstatica) I started getting my hospital bag ready yesterday so I can have it in the boot of the car with me just in case for tomorrow. I'm probably being paranoid but was so totally unprepared for my last two I'm determined to have everything ready this time round.

So my hospital bag so far consists of:
3,000,000,000 (approx.) maternity pads (90p for 10 from Tesco)
1 x pack of big maternity knickers from Tesco
6 x pairs ancient pants so ok to chuck out if they get particularly disgusting
2 x nighties with buttons down the front for BF (£6 each from Matalan - thanks Kayzr)
1 x old box of breast pads given to me by a friend - need to buy some more
1 x toothbrush and small tube toothpaste
1 x Garnier make up removal/cleanser wipes (on offer in Tesco for about £1 at the mo)
Other things that I'm going to add are bath bag with all the usual stuff, a towel, some loose clothing, slippers, dressing gown, my kindle, phone, charger and food (chocolate hobnobs + other forms of choccie Wink, cartons of apple juice etc.)

I've also started on Baby's bag which just has some cotton wool balls, teeny tiny baby nappies (Pampers, from Tesco), 5 x body suits, 3 x sleep suits (all tiny baby). I don't have much for Baby 'cos if she's small they only wear a nappy when in the incubators and DH will have plenty of time to bring in all the other stuff we'll need for taking her home. Obviously if she goes to term with no probs we'll all be rejoicing and Baby's bag will have to be re-packed/added to.

Sorry for long post!!!

Fanbelt · 12/03/2012 11:47

Ooh, and I'm having GTT on Weds. My MW is doing it at the surgery which is just over the road from me so quite handy. Not looking forward to it though - I hate sugary drinks and I'm fairly certain I'll be fine - my problem is small babies, not big ones! I have to have it though 'cos my sister is T1 diabetes so I'm considered high risk.

millyv · 12/03/2012 11:49

Morning everyone! I'm starting to feel semi human again now, so although I've been trying to keep up with everything I thought I'd best say hello whilst I have 5 mins!

stuntman Congratulations on your BFP and sending you best wishes and good luck for November!

Mamainthemaking Cramp sucks doesn't it! Luckily I haven't had it since Dubai, try eating some ready salted crips and doing some leg stretches before you get into bed - it seems to have helped me!

Ecstatica I can't believe the 12 week countdown has started - so exciting! I have been thinking about the hospital bag question and think I would like to start picking up bits and pieces here and there save buying it all in one go. Any suggestions on must have's? Also how many baby clothes/nappies do we take with us?

Dalrymps I'm the same with the sleeping, some nights I'm straight off other nights - like last night I was tossing and turning until 2am! No rhyme or reason for it either which is annoying!

We went away for the weekend with the DH's gang of friends, every year we hire a 'big' house and all go away together, there were 7 couples and 5 babies/children this year and it was a fab weekend. The youngest was only 3 months and as they live out of the country it was the first time most of us got to meet her - she was gorgeous and so chilled out - I love baby cwtches!

Off to meet a friend from school tonight who has a 2 month old little boy, can't wait for even more cwtches - suddenly makes it all feel very real when you have a little one in your arms!

Nothing much to report really, the cold seems to have left the building although I'm still blowing my nose frequently, which is annoying but much better than it was. I also have another MW apppointment this wednesday morning, so hoping they will say my BP has gone back to normal as I do feel a bit better, although I get tired very easily. I think thats whats been getting me down so much - usually I'm so active but I'm just out of breath and shattered after the smallest amount of exercise - anyone else like this? DH says it's probably due to the bp and it will get better?!?!

Oh and have been to 2 pregnancy yoga classes, the first I wasn't too sure about as I've not really done yoga before and didn't think it was much of a work out but after speaking to some people I went back last week with a different mindset and felt I got much more out of the class and also felt like I'd stretched and moved far more so hoping I can get into the swing of it!

Sorry if I haven't mentioned everyone and thank you to those of you asking after me! Hopefully now I'll have a nice chilled last 14 weeks?!?!!?

Xx

MammaInTheMaking · 12/03/2012 12:03

Good sale in Gap at the moment. I went a bit nuts yesterday.... Blush

Hospital bag packing sounds very exciting to me! But i think i'm a bit early yet to be launching into physically packing it. I have however started to buy things for it such as biiiiig knickers and maternity pads. Any ideas on how many is usual to buy both for the hospital stay and then for at home?

Kveta · 12/03/2012 12:06

hi all, last week of the 2nd trimester for me, woohoo! (I think that's right - it's week 29 that the 3rd triemster starts, right?) only 3 more long bastarding months to go.

I am really really hating being pg at the moment Angry so sick of the lack of sleep, the sore groin/pelvis, the constant fecking peeing, the lack of sleep, the disappearance of my immune system (onto cold number eleventy-million or so), the heartburn, the constant hunger, the sore nipples, the lack of sleep, the inability to take any medication that does anything, the lack of sleep - oh, and did I mention the lack of sleep?! Angry And baby isn't very active at the moment, but does kick just often enough to reassure me she's there - but not as much as DS did (which was pretty much constantly), so I am permanently worried. She is very good at the 'no kicks for 12 hours, then BAM in the bladder just as I say to DH that I haven't felt a kick for a while' act too.

I KNOW some women would give a limb to be in this position right now, I really do, but fuck me, I am not good at it.

apologies for the rant, but I needed it...

spent yesterday gardening, and am paying for it now, and it's pissing me off a lot. All the crap about 'pregnancy isn't an illness!' that's trilled at me by anyone I am less than 100% positive to is pissing me off too. And walked into town on saturday and no less than 3 people winced when I said I had 3 months to go. (when they asked me, I'm not just marching up to strangers to announce it :o). and said 'ooh, it's going to be a big baby, isn't it?'. I struggled not to bellow 'OH DO FUCK OFF' 'NO I JUST CARRY MY BABIES LIKE THIS!' at them and just smiled wanly instead.

Would anyone guess I was angry today?! no?!

I shall come back later and be calmer hopefully, but needed to get this off my chest so I don't scream at someone at work today :)

Fanbelt · 12/03/2012 12:28

Hey Kveta rant away - I am with you on all the gripes (lack of sleep, sore pelvis, constant wee (bought some Tena lady for the first time last week - DS1 said "I know what those are mummy, they're to put in your shoes, aren't they"), hunger, heartburn, colds etc. etc.) except I keep getting people saying "ooh you're carrying quite small aren't you". It may look small but feels like I'm gestating a baby elephant.

AmethystMoon · 12/03/2012 12:33

Hello everyone

God it's only lunchtime and I'm knackered! I just want to curl up and sleep for a month. Kveta I don't think I'm suffering quite as much as you are (hug) but I'm right there with you on the no B#*%^y sleep! I'm off to London for a conference tomorrow, so v. early start and v. late home...looking forward to the conference but not the sheer strain of staying awake and not fainting...not sure how I'm going to get away with not sitting for more than 10 mins! Hmm

Thanks fanbelt for the hospital bag list, I'm a first timer so clueless... I rely on the wisdom of the experienced ladies on here for lots like that Grin Off to find a nightie with buttons after work. I really need to start thinking like my baby could come early (just in case) but at the moment, it's like I think 23rd June is some sort of guarantee Blush. My Mum was born at 26 weeks, which I will be on Saturday but it just doesn't seem possible...it all seems so far away...need to get my ass in gear!

blondiedollface · 12/03/2012 12:44

Mamma I went totally nuts in the Gap sale too, bought a couple of outfits in each size up to 12mths... Maybe a bit too far, but up until now we'd bought nothing!!

Kveta Understand your frustration 100%. We are moving house this Friday and I spent my day off on Saturday packing, not lifting or carrying, just packing boxes. Work on Sunday could not have been MORE of a nightmare, was in so much pain the SPD seems back with a vengeance and I'm getting this weird stretching/numbness on the left side of my ribs. Had to call in sick today and because we're so understaffed I HAVE to go in for 4 hours this afternoon when all I want to do is soak in a bath and relax all day! Would be nice to actually just be able to do necessary things and not suffer afterwards for them...

Rant Over. It's getting very exciting and things all seem to be moving along nicely, we've put the deposit on our pram DH got very excitable test driving it for the 4th time! I'm feeling more bumpy every day and just can't wait to be in our new house so we can finally get the nursery ready!!

Today really is going to be one of those days and I'm hoping these 4 hours at work (6 hours if you include the commute each way) go far quicker than they usually do.

Kveta · 12/03/2012 12:50

glad others understand my rants, and sorry I went off on one a bit!

I meant to add my birth plans too, from DS - have replaced my name and DH's with initials though :)

Birth Plan

K and J

Pain Relief ? I would like to start in a pool, escalating to gas and air if required. Epidural to be last resort, please discuss it with me. I do not want pethidine.

Positions ? I would like to be able to move around freely.

Birth - I would like to give birth in the water if possible.
I would like my baby to be passed to me immediately to do skin to skin and I will try to feed ASAP.
Please do not tell us the sex of the baby; J would like to find this out for us.

Baby - J would like to assist with the weighing and measuring of our baby.
J would like to put the baby?s first nappy on and dress baby.

Special Care

If baby has to go to special care, J will accompany it. Please do not let any other visitors see our baby before I do, and remind J to take photos.

Caesarean Birth Plan ? K and J.

I would like the anaesthetist to give me a running commentary.

I would like skin to skin contact immediately after the baby is born; please only take baby to the resuscitaire if absolutely necessary.

I would like to breastfeed ASAP after baby is born, if possible whilst I am being stitched up.

I would like to see my baby being born, would you please lower the screen at the point of birth.

Please do not tell us the sex of the baby; J would like to find this out for us.

J would like to assist with the weighing and measuring of our baby.

J would like to put the baby?s first nappy on and dress baby.

General Anaesthetic

If for any reason I have a general anaesthetic, please remember that I wish to breastfeed ? I do not want formula milk to be given to my baby. J will look after baby until I recover, and would like to do skin to skin. Please remind J to take photos of the time before I come round.

Special Care

If baby has to go to special care, J will accompany it. Please do not let any other visitors see our baby before I do, and remind J to take photos.

this time I will be shortening it drastically to (effectively):
*Epidural (NO pethidine or gas and air)
*Breast feeding (NO formula without prior consent from me)
*assisted placenta delivery is fine
*vitamin K injection is fine.

or, my favourite birth plan (which I saw on MN a while back):
get baby out
keep carnage to a minimum
don't tell me if I poo.

:o

Kveta Go for it!! I think the not sleeping well is the worst thing ever. I haven't been a good sleeper since having DS2.

I am going to start putting a bag of stuff together soon I think. All being well we wont be going anywhere near a hospital but still everything will be easy to find and if I do need to go to hospital its done. I'll forget something though, I always do.

Fanbelt · 12/03/2012 14:34

Kveta I love your final birth plan - that's pretty much what I'm going for this time round except I'm having a c-section so I really don't want to know if I have a poo! Also I love all the reminders for J to take photos!

Think I might stop off at Baby Gap on my way home from work today too - thanks Mamma and Blondie.

Warlin · 12/03/2012 16:13

Hi All

My goodness you ladies can talk! I haven't had a minute to post over the last few days but did catch up on some reading at the weekend. Think this house move will be a bigger job than I thought Hmm

Congrats stun that's great news and wishing you well with the Nov bean.

Thanks everyone for the hospital bag/ birth plan advice. I feel so far behind as we haven't bought much for baby, let alone thouhgt of hospital bag. Hopefully once we get settled in new house end of March I can start to really plan. I'm still worried I might go early as the baby is so low (though I would secretly love a few weeks early) so I really should get organised in some way. I did order a maternity nightdress from M&S for the birth but it's huge and I look like something out of the 1920s...so not my style Grin I'm convincing myself I'll grow into it and that it will be nice and comfy Confused.

11 more weeks of work for me and counting.....

We have a heart scan tmw night so looking forward to that, although a bit apprehensive in case anything is wrong. I have Downs Syndrome in the family and we were unable to get the nucal scan done so praying tmw won't show anything up.

Anyway hi to everyone (too many to mention), I'm off to look online at baby gap!!

TeaandHobnobs · 12/03/2012 19:27

Glad you are feeling better millyv and sorry you are feeling rough Kveta Sad

Well I have joined the snot club this weekend, yuck. Currently trying not to freak out about tomorrow's DRIVING TEST ahhhhh Shock

Other than that, enjoying a calmer time at work now Smile Desperately want to start buying stuff, but I'm trying to restrain myself until the decorating is done... Just waiting on the decorator to come back with a quote!

Many thanks for the birth plans and the bag contents - food for thought!

Wishing everyone a lovely evening

MammaInTheMaking · 12/03/2012 19:51

Who brought up chocolate mousses?? Because I've gone nuts for them!

CathFin · 12/03/2012 20:03

Kveta - think the smell gives the game away if you do a poo - ewk!

Tea - good luck for your driving test!

Tried to sort out my baby clothes this morning - aided by DD (4) and DS (2), not a good idea. However have pulled out all the 0-3month stuff so I can launder it. In a moment of madness I think I freecycled a load of stuff so I actually need to get a few bits - can't find the 0-3 babygro's DS wore, not sure if I lent them to someone though!
