Hi all
Kveta, you are already in the 3rd trimester, that starts in the 26th week Grin. Hope you're feeling better now.
MiilyV your weekend away sounds wonderful, I may suggest that to some of my friends as it sounds like a fab way to get together and have the kids too.
I'm knackered again too today, I think that plus the sciatica is the worst thing. I dislike feeling so tired and to be honest I don't think I've ever caught up with my sleep from having DS1 Hmm.
A month tomorrow and that is me finising work, oh I cannot wait.
Hope everyone is well. Take care all xx

TeaandHobnobs · 12/03/2012 21:54

Oops sorry mamma that was me! Blush Didn't mean to cause an avalanche of chocolate mousse cravings!

Fanbelt · 12/03/2012 22:53

Evening ladies, just watching hilarious 'phone sex secrets' on C4 while bubba is wriggling and kicking away. Have got 28 wk growth scan tomorrow morning. Not really sure what to expect - I feel fine and baby's moving loads so hopefully they'll be happy with everything and I can relax until the next one at 32 wks.

In other news, I've chosen some wallpaper/curtain fabric for baby's room - www.remnantkings.co.uk/shop/prestigious-textiles/lapwing-lane-fabric/
We're painting the room white with the one wall that the cot will be next to wallpapered (so bubba has something pretty/interesting to look at) and then a white black-out blind over the window and a curtain made of the same fabric. (And maybe the odd cushion or two.)

Hope everyone's well and coping okay with all the coughs/colds, aches and pains. Oh and speaking of chocolate mousse - Aero mousses are BOGOF at Tesco at the moment - stocked up yesterday Grin

DairyNips · 12/03/2012 23:00

Lol fanbelt I'm watching that tooGrin

blondiedollface · 13/03/2012 08:27

Just a quick q, LO has been moving around so much, and for the last 24 hours although I've felt movement it's not been anywhere near as strong or as frequent as it has been...

I feel like I'd be over-reacting calling the midwife because there has been movement, it's just nothing like it was before, but should I call anyway just to check?

DairyNips · 13/03/2012 09:06

Hey blondie, if you're concerned about baby's movements in any way you should call the midwife. You're not bothering them, thats what they're there forSmile

CathFin · 13/03/2012 09:27

blondie - mine has done a bit of that but then gave me a few extra whacks this morning. I think it still depends a bit on which way around they are some of the time!

TeaandHobnobs · 13/03/2012 09:42

Blondie I had a period of 24hrs last week where it felt like LO was kicking me non-stop. Yesterday he was actually rather calm by comparison. I guess their pattern can change depending on what you have eaten / done (lots of moving around vs sitting still) and perhaps which way around they are in there? But I second DairyNips to get in touch with your MW if you are feeling concerned.

Last night was perhaps the most hilarious experience to date - he went utterly berserk in there for about 5 minutes, while I watched my belly dance from the outside! So weird Confused

Kveta · 13/03/2012 09:57

blondie I have that quite often - baby will have a day of being manic, whirling around and kicking the whole time, followed by a day or two where I just feel the odd tap - pretty sure it's because she has moved into a different position and is kicking the placenta instead.

I saw the MW yesterday for my 28 week appt, and all seems well - measuring bang on for dates, baby kicked the doppler a few times, then deigned to stay in one place for a couple of seconds so we could hear her heartbeat :o BP is perfect, and MW said I need to rest more, but otherwise nothing to worry about.

DS spent the appointment doing the wall of death round the MW's office, so I was going 'why am I having another one?!' as he galloped round the place cackling madly. He was being very cute in the waiting room though, laughing and chuckling at another wee boy's toy, and he set the whole room off with his giggles. And last night - he SLEPT! 7-6.30! Shock Grin DH and I were checking on him by about 5.30am because we were worried something had happened during the night :o And this morning he was a delight, just giggling at everything, singing to himself, ate all his breakfast, skipped into nursery - like a different child. I wish he would sleep more often, it clearly suits him!

TDW I have read so many different pg guides, and most seem to think the 3rd trimester starts at 27, 28 or 29 weeks - hence my confusion! whatever, I am only 12 weeks from D Day now, and 14 weeks from baby DEFINITELY being here, eek! scary biscuits!

we're looking for a bed for DS at the moment, as baby will need the cot-bed later in the year. anyone got any recommendations? we are thinking a low cabin bed (so not one that requires a ladder), and then getting the same kind for baby when she's old enough to need one - they will be sharing a room for the forseeable future! we have decorated the room yellow so far - debating some sort of wall stickers, but will probably keep it just yellow for now, and see.

regarding the birth plan - I used one from my NCT teacher as a guide for it, and she was very keen on reminding OHs to take pictures! luckily DH didn't actually need reminding when DS finally emerged - although we had a hilarious moment in my 2nd day of labout when we went 'do the batteries in the camera work?' and DH took some pictures of me IN LABOUR to test it. The batteries were nearly dead, so he went off to get some more, but looking back at the photos - I looked ROUGH. he is not getting pics of me in labour this time round :o

Kveta Glad your 28 wk app went ok. Got mine todaySmile

We got ds1's bed and mattress from
Kiddicare. Not sure if they do cabin beds though, you'd have to checkSmile

MammaInTheMaking · 13/03/2012 11:03

I think the chocolate mousse made baby extra hyperactive yesterday so it's now off the menu! It's already training for the Olympics but yesterday was a whole new experience. It didn't stop alllllll day and all the movements were so forceful. In the evening DP and I were playing classical music to it and i was walking around the house trying to settle it, DP was stroking the belly but nothing worked at all. Then when DP had his hand on the belly it just pushed on his hand. Didn't kick, but just pushed it continuously really hard. I was freaking out because i'd never felt it go crazy for so long and so hard. Although I love the movements i'm definitely not embrasing them in the way people expect me to. Everyone says the kicking is a wonderful feeling but for me it just feels so alien and weird I can't get used to it. Am hoping i get used to it quickly because there's another 12 weeks to go where it's only going to get stronger. I literally think it's going to come out with muscles! Shock

Blondie, I had a similar situation about a week ago and did get a bit concerned about it. By the weekend it was back to its normal self. Although I didn't phone the midwife i'd say if you are worried then to give her a call.

Got a few more cloth nappies in the post yesterday and they're the softest things ever! DP and I have agreed to get our muscular baby in them as soon as we're home from hospital :)

justwantcheese · 13/03/2012 12:05

did someone say chocolate mousse Grin right off to the shop i go

thedogwalker · 13/03/2012 12:17

Got my hospital tour this afternoon. Got a list of questions I want to ask. For DS1 I was in Germany and the hospital I used there was very pro natural births, birth plans and using hynotherapy, scented candles??? and acupuncture. I'm not sure what to expect from Salisbury District hospital Hmm.
Hope everyone is well and having a good day xx

Kayzr · 13/03/2012 12:27

I have just had a super duper email. DP's ship is towing a rig around the pacific ocean in the next few weeks. The company don't want to risk him being stuck at sea and therefore miss our wedding. SO they are letting him get of the ship early. Only a few days early but that means he'll be home a few days early!!! Grin

Kveta · 13/03/2012 12:54

yay kayzr! that's brilliant news :) when is he back?

Kayzr · 13/03/2012 12:55

All being well it should be next Thursday. I can not wait for a lie in. Grin

bemybebe · 13/03/2012 13:09

Fantastic news Kayzr! Grin

TeaandHobnobs · 13/03/2012 13:46

Kayzr that's awesome! You must be so excited Grin

Fanbelt · 13/03/2012 13:57

That's great news about your DP Kayzr

Blondie I agree with everyone on here who's said get it checked out by MW if you're worried about lessening/changes in movement. Having just come back from the hospital the MW I saw there said that if we're not feeling well we don't want to move around much and it's the same for babies so always worth checking if you're not sure. Also if you have an iphone you can apps that you can use to count the kicks rather than having to remember to write it down and then remember where you put the piece of paper. One a friend showed me was called something like Baby bump, I think.

Anyway, I've just got back from my 28 wk growth scan. The good news is that we're definitely having a girl (not that a boy would be bad news, just that I've got it into my head that it's a girl since being told at 20wks). The not-so-good-but-put-a-brave-face-on-it news is that we're having another tiddler. All the measurements (abdominal, head circumference etc.) were on the lower end of the percentile chart. They were all reassuring me that they don't worry at all until they're off the lower end of the percentile but, given my past history of tiny babies born early (4lb 9 at 36wks and 3lb 10 at 35wks), it's hard to see the positive side. At least I know the money I've spent on tiny baby body suits etc. probably won't be wasted! I just won't be happy until she's out and in my arms, even if it's via a c-section and NICU - I've been there, done that and it's horrible but things could be a lot worse.

Hope everyone's well xx

Warlin · 13/03/2012 14:08

Hi All

Kayzr great news... you must be so excited! What date in April is the wedding?

Glad all the 28 weeks apts went well. I'm leaving work at 3.30 today to go and get our heart scan done. Excited but nervous too. I'm getting lots of movement but mainly late afternoon and evening..he seems to be quiet enough the rest of the day but then maybe when I'm busy I don't notice as much. I agree mama...the kicks are reassuring but they do make my feel a bit queasy!

I'm wrecked too and trying to sort out house contracts, removal plans, painters etc is wearing me out :( Jealous of all those with nurseries etc done. I can't wait to start the buying process!

I got a few wee things online in the gap sale so building up his wardrobe gradually!

TDW that's impressive that you are getting a hospital tour! I won't get one until my AN classes which aren't until the end of May...can't help thinking that's cutting it very June for a mid June baby??

Kayzr · 13/03/2012 14:15

The wedding is the 5th April. Not long to go now, the wedding rings came this morning so I think we have everything now.

They have been looking into his flights and it looks like he will be landing in Leeds at 0950 so we are planning on not telling DS1 so DP can just turn up at school to pick him up.

Miniangel · 13/03/2012 15:30

Hi Everyone

Haven't posted in a bit now but have been reading regularly.

Thanks for the birth plans TDW and Kveta. They are very helpful for a first timer like me.
Kveta your final birth plan made me laugh.
Kayzr yay for DP's early arrival. Wedding day is not far at all. Do post some pics.
Fanbelt thanks for sharing the hospital bag contents. All the best, hope all goes well for you.
I am with Warlin and Mamma the baby has been playing football matches in there and it makes me queasy. The movements are reassuring though.
Warlin Hope the heart scan goes well. Let us know how you get on.
Blondie I agree with everyone, you should speak to a MW if you are concerned about movements.

I have been busy sorting out my wish list and sending baby shower invites. We are looking at about 40 guests and we are having the party at a restaurant on 1st April. I am so excited. The first gift arrived yesterday and it was so exciting to open it.

CathFin · 13/03/2012 17:09

Fanbelt - hope its reassuring that she is on the scale - fingers crossed she stays put for a good while longer too, not nice to have that to worry about though.

Rather tired of being poorly here - think I will finally make a doctor's appointment tomorrow as it sounds like it might be a sinus infection and its just not getting better.

Kayzr - great news!

TDW - at least they do a tour - I had DD at Kingston and DS at St Peters, Chertsey and neither offer a tour. They have video's online, but I don't think that's the same at all.

thedogwalker · 13/03/2012 19:56

Kayzr that's great news, so happy for you. Fan glad that the LO has been confirmed a girl and I've got fingers x that she puts on weight and she goes to term. Warlin how did the heart scan go? I hope all is well. Mini how excitíng having a baby shower, hope you have a great time. I havÉ to say I was pretty disappointed with the labour ward, lots of clutter in corridors, old drab looking, tiny rooms, thread bare blankets and dirty pillows. The maternity ward looked brighter but just one long line of beds with curtains separating each mother and baby. I was defo spoiled on Germany

DairyNips · 13/03/2012 20:22

Kayzr great newsGrin

Had my 28wk check up. All is ok. She said baby is laying across my tummy, hope he doesn't stay like that!
