Arrrghhh! Just lost a whole post which took me 20 mins to type Angry

Right, I shall try again....

Afternoon all!

small all that prodding you with needles sounds horrid - how has today been?

surf Yes, I am going NCT, in Havant...I suspect you're nearer Chichester/Emsworth? I live in Horndean so it was my nearest class. I laughed at your OH telling you the surf is up...I suppose you could cut a hole in the board and lie on it with your bump poking thorugh [brin]

Warlin I hope your presentation went well today?

Tea Oh no, just as I thought your bleeding was slowing, now you get this news :( As the others have said at least you're in the best place. My neighbour's daughter had her baby at 32 weeks a few months ago and they're both doing great, but hopefully little tea will hold on a bit longer for you and I rea;lly hope you are more comfortable soon.xx

Kveta Congrats on your paper being accepted...I understand that this is a lengthy process - well done :-)

Gwennie My NCY finishes at 09:30 too....far too late...my alarm goes off at 5:45!!!

Thedogwalker my MW isn't coming to see me to do my birth plan until I am 36 weeks...cutting it a bit fine for my liking so I think I will finish it and she can just look at it for me and maybe add some suggestions.

Cathfin Where are you hiring your tens machine from? I seem to have lost the leaflet I was given. Blush

Mckayz I was snoozing at midday too Grin In fact I am just plain rubbish today, so tired and I think my blood pressure must be low as I feel like I am floating on the edge of conciousness most of the time!

Well I finally got my compression stockings today.. I think I'll save them for the office tomorrow...v attractive Grin

I've also eaten too many choccie digestives today....feel a bit shaky..too much sugar me thinks Hmm

CathFin · 25/04/2012 17:52

Amethyst - I have hired mine from Boots each time - not sure where else does it and I was too lazy to research any other options!

SpecialJK · 25/04/2012 18:32

Been away for a couple of days and it's all happening. I really hope tea is ok.

Small hope you're ok too! Not fun being stuck in hospital. Some ideas for pram, I've got an iCandy Strawberry, picking it up this weekend. 2 others in my NCT class have got an iCandy Peach. I got the strawberry as I'm mostly 'urban' whereas they wanted something that had chunkier tyres. Then the other pram i looked at was the Uppababy Vista, gets v good reviews and not as expensive as iCandy. I thought some of the Silver Cross' and the Mamas and Papas prams looked good too.

Yesterday I was on the train and had a very strange moment, I thought it might have been a very strong BH, took my breath away, and sorry for TMI, but it made me want to vomit and poo at the same time. I was actually sweating on my forehead! Lasted about 20 secs. Not had anything since, but the kicks and movement seem to be in different places

Baby was breech before and I'm 31+3. Was wondering whether the LO was doing a 180 turn in my stomach???

gwenniebee · 25/04/2012 18:32

Hoping no news is good news from tea........

Kveta and others who asked about the nappy deal - it's in Boots and they have 2packs of own brand newborn for £4 and 2 of pampers for £6 - I liked the look of it because I have no idea what brands we'll find suit us so went for both! They are so tightly compressed though that sadly 102 sounds more impressive than it looks!!

ceej I have really enjoyed our NCT classes, there are 7 other couples and we didn't have a ladies only day - I guess they differ from area to area. I think we've got a good group, all the people seem really nice and we have had a lot of giggles as well as the serious stuff. I found the first day the most informative in terms of labour etc and have found the rest of the classes more reassuring that I "know" quite a lot already (years of au pairing - yay!). It's certainly not felt like wasted time though as it's really reassuring to hear other people ask questions I feel I could have a decent stab at answering.

First day of children back in the classroom for me - summer term, drought, and torrential downpour! Ugh... a day of wet breaks is not what's needed on the first day back! I was more ready to go home than they were at 4pm!!

DH is preparing to give a tutorial online tonight so he is re-assembling the desk we have just dismantled in the ex-spare room/study... bless him! We are waiting for my mum to come with "the big car" next week and take some furniture out of our downstairs to store in my childhood bedroom before we can assemble the desk down here. Gosh, this baby is causing all sorts of trouble! Better be worth it :)

gwenniebee · 25/04/2012 18:34

Ooh... should have said, the Boots offer I mentioned ends 01/05 - hence I bought mine now rather than waiting til nearer the time!

thedogwalker · 25/04/2012 19:46

Hi all,
I'm suffering painful BH tonight, not a happy bunny, as I'm really uncomfortable.
Regarding prams, I recall looking and looking and looking for the perfect pram when I was having DS1. As I wanted to have 2 DCs close together, I went for one which I knew I could convert into a double if and when required. It is a big decision as they cost a lot of money and it would be a waste to buy one that only had limited use or ended up not being up to the job. Anyone still looking for prams, all I can suggest is go to the pram shops, walk around with them, pick them up, (some are really bloomin heavy), close them and re-open them and then pick the one that really does it for you. I ended buying the icandy peach, which I adore.
I was so organised with DS1, my hospital bag was packed at 30 weeks and everything was built (moses basket and cot etc) and in place. This time, I haven't even bought the stuff that needs to go into the hospital bag yet, let alone pack it. I really must give myself a kick up the bum Grin.
Hope everyone is well, take care, I'm off to move about abit to hopefully get rid of these horrible BH.

Kveta · 25/04/2012 20:03

hope you feel better soon TDW

also hope no news is good news from tea - we're all rooting for you here you know!

re: prams. do not get a graco travel system. we got the mosaic, and I HATED the bloody thing after a few weeks of use. It was shite. Sold the pushchair element and got ourselves a britax vigour which we brokenheartedly sold a few weeks ago. We now have a Phil and Teds and it's ok - miss the Britax as it was so so lightweight to push, but we need a double this time, as DS is just too unreliable to not put in a pushchair. The P+T does have a huge shopping basket though, which is a bonus! We also have a wee cheapy maclaren (quest or triumph, something like that) which is brilliant. Apart from the graco, all have been 2nd or 3rd hand btw, we are monumental cheapskates!!

the travel cot arrived yesterday so we put it up today, and it actually feels more robust than the 4th hand cot bed DS currently occasionally deigns to sleep in! very impressed with it so far, but obviously time will tell if DC2will actually sleep in it :o think I just need sheets for that, some more nappies, and a wee outfit for baby to come home in, then I should be pretty much sorted for stuff. Less sorted for house being clean and space made for the cot though...

right, best get back to the kitchen. the weather is so bad here I am actually making bread rather than going out to the shops to buy some. now that's taking laziness to whole new levels :o

evening lovely ladies. kveta interesting that, I wonder why the rich wanted so many kids? small 'fat one, fat one going to get fatter and burst and baby will fly out ha ha' had me pissing myself! tea sending you all the lovely energy I gathered from the beach for you yesterday, hope your okay. amethyst that's a shame yes chi for us starts 1/5 which seemed crazily too late at the time but is now very very soon. must start listening to hypo birthing thing. special that sounds terrifying i would have been sprinting home with a panic attack pronto, are you okay now? and dogwalker having bh too, is everyone as I don't think I am does that mean that my labour will last a million years?

I am frustrated today, have lots of things to do in new house but it all seems to involve heavy boxes and light fittings and things that I just look at waiting for oh. also made a cake today and forgot to put the fruit in it, it looks beautiful but tastes boring and fruitless, all that butter and posh flour such a waste. still not a big deal i know! just tired winges. Did some stretches for hips and back last night and actually didn't have hip pain every hour in the night - unbelievable.

Weather like the end of the world here today and a very big sea.

blondiedollface · 25/04/2012 20:39

Hello to everyone, having literally just read everyone's posts I have retained precisely 0% of the information... Such is my brain's capacity now!

Have had a busy 3 days with DH and feel absolutely exhausted, we now have everything (that we think we'll need) for LO and the nursery is finished give or take a few things such as putting the curtains I've made up and finishing off covering the rocking chair :)

DH and I's one year anniversary tomorrow and he has had the week off, we were hoping for the same weather as last year! No such luck, but last year the 26th April was 26 degrees and not a cloud in the sky... He was talking about some surprise, so I am very excited and looking forward to an early night so I can make the most of our day tomorrow together!

On the other hand does anybody know about paternity entitlement? DH had an interview on Monday and got a new job that starts on the 14th May, he's taken it as it's more closely related to what he wants to do, is more money (which is never unwelcome), and shorter hours - aside from not being entitled to paid paternity it was a no brainer in terms of taking it or not. Will he still be entitled to 2 weeks off, even if they are unpaid?

Tea Hoping no news is good news and that everything is ok with you and Minitea - sending hugs and best wishes your way.

Gwennie Have done the same, we have over 100 nappies in sizes 1,2 and 3 (just in case LO is a 9lber, fingers crossed not but DH is 6'5 so if LO is long she may be weighty) my mum came over and asked if I was having triplets with the amount we'd bought! Same goes for wipes, we've 4 different brands, about 36 packs - maybe I'm crazy haha!

Kveta and McKayz and to anyone else who has suffered a MC my heart goes out to you. But as somebody (can't remember who sorry) said - I too am a great believer in everything happens for a reason and you have the LO's due in June :)

All of your NCT classes sound like they are going well and that they have at least been usefull! I am starting a Lazy Daisy Birthing class course in May, and I'm very excited about it, they promote the use of movement and yoga during labour and seem to be a fairly relaxed 'get to meet other mums' type of group.

Hope you didn't all get too wet today and enjoy the rest of your weeks Grin
Xx

gwenniebee · 25/04/2012 21:04

Still waiting for DH to finish his tutorial before I can feed us....... so tired would quite like to cry now but must be :) as he has been working late.... where is the crying "smiley"?!!

While I have been preparing our delicious (but now overcooked) repast, I have been pondering the following: we have just met all these lovely people at our NCT classes but most of them are due before us. I know at least half of them know what gender baby they're having and of those I've asked none of them are calling their babies the names DH and I like. By which I mean the names I've always imagined my babies will have and DH has no say in the matter. So, given that they are new friends, if any of them pop out little ones and call them "my" names, do you think they'd be annoyed if we came along behind and used the same name?! Or can we still act as independent people??!!

I'm hoping that when I've eaten this will seem a less potentially fraught decision!

Ooh, yay, Apprentice time. My one weakness.

Fanbelt · 25/04/2012 21:34

Have just spent the last couple of evenings catching up on all the millions of posts since I was last on here. Seems to be so much happening with you all. Hope those of you in hospital are doing okay, especially Tea and mini-tea . Having had two early babies myself, I can understand how scary/worrying it is but in both my experiences, my boys were better out than in and when they were in NICU they were cared for brilliantly by the staff there. And now I have strapping 9 and 6 y/o boys who you would never guess started off life so precariously.

Having said all that, this pg seems to be going scarily well in comparison with previous two. Had 34 wk MW appt today and discussed birth plan. I'm booking in for a c-section at 39 wks but MW said she thinks it's highly likely I'll go into natural labour before then which will be a really novel experience - feel a bit like a first-timer in that I've no idea about what's likely to happen or how it will feel and I've not bothered reading anything about it up 'til now 'cos I just assumed it wouldn't happen.

Have done very little in terms of actual prep for hospital. Have bought some nappies, breast pads, matenity pads & pants but not got round to actually packing anything. Also have been given loads of baby clothes from a friend of mine but need to wash them all before I can pack baby's hospital bag.

Re. prams I'm a total cheapskate too! I've bought a 2nd hand Quinny Buzz which was recommended by a friend of mine. Just need to get the Maxi Cosi car seat to go with it. Also have 2nd hand Mclaren Truimph which I used with DS2 and was brilliant - would highly recommend as a 2nd, lightweight pushchair for when they're a bit older.

Hope everyone is well, i've been getting really achey back, and can't survive at the moment without my afternoon nap - feel like a granny, hobbling around. Also been getting quite strong period pain like BHs which aren't fun - sympathise with you special .

DairyNips · 25/04/2012 22:09

Just popped in to ask, although this is ds3 for me i've never noticed Braxton hicks before. Today I keep getting a dull/ mild period type pain that keeps coming and going. I feel my tummy but it doesn't feel rock hard when this happens, doesn't feel much differentConfused Anyone had Braxton hicks like this?

blondiedollface · 25/04/2012 22:18

Dairy My BH have involved a lot of the cramping period-like pains you describe.. It's the same sort of dull ache I'd get a day or two before starting my period! HTH :)

DairyNips · 25/04/2012 22:20

Ah thanks blondie that's probably all it is then. I was starting to imagine early labour scenarios in my head.. Baby can't come yet, I'm so not readyGrin

Fanbelt · 25/04/2012 23:02

Dairy those sound exactly like the sort of pains I've been getting. I've assumed they're BH - but like you, even though I'm on DC3, I don't remember getting them with the first two.

TeaandHobnobs · 25/04/2012 23:06

Evening all!

Will keep this brief as I am still high as a kite and my brain is utterly incoherent (don't even know how I'm managing to type!), but BabyTea arrived this evening at 19:55.

I'll give you all more detail tomorrow when my brain may actually function - at the moment, I'm still not sure who I am!!!

blondiedollface · 25/04/2012 23:10

Tea Congratulations!! Hope all is well with both you and BabyTea :)

Massive hugs and smiles to you!!
Blondie Xx

McKayz · 25/04/2012 23:10

Congratulations Tea hope you are both well xx

DairyNips · 25/04/2012 23:16

Fanbelt thanks for the reassuranceSmile

ceeej · 25/04/2012 23:23

Welcome to our first 'June' baby!! Huge congratulations tea and I really hope both you and babytea are well and relieved that all the uncertainty is over. Looking forward to hearing the full story tomorrow, have a good sleep, ceeej xxx

Fanbelt · 25/04/2012 23:24

Wow - have just burst into tears at your news Tea! That's brilliant - congratulations.

I couldn't sleep at all the night I had DS1, I was so excited/high. In the end I got up and wrote down all that had happened in my diary and I'm so glad I did - it's something I cherish now.

Smile Smile Smile

Whoo hoooooo.........

rachyroodle · 26/04/2012 03:39

Hi, just returned to the thread after a little while away. I lost it for a while but all the sleepless nights mean that I am spending a lot of time reading MN!

Congratulations to Tea on the first of the June babies. I guess once we are into May they will start coming at a fast pace.

Also a cheapskate with the pram. we have bought an ICandy cherry on eBay. Seems good. I also want to buy a baby carrier/sling but feel totally overwhelmed by the choice. I think we will be sorting out the things for our hospital bag this week too which makes it seem really real. Looking forward to starting NCT in Fareham in a few weeks too.

I have a question. I had a voice mail from the health visitor today who said there is nothing to worry about but would like to visit before the baby is born. Obvs then started to worry as I thought health visitors started visiting after the birth. Has anyone else had this? will be nice to meet them and am hoping it is just a get to know you visit but just wasn't expecting it...

Smallwonder · 26/04/2012 03:42

Hi Rachy Grin
I have no idea but sounds routine - maybe just wanting to meet u. Almost May, we can actually say baby due next month!!!! Scary!
Hope u r well. IcAndy does look nice!

rachyroodle · 26/04/2012 04:01

Thanks Smallwonder and glad to see am not only one awake Smile
