DairyNips · 27/03/2012 20:26

tea I have done the steaming once, it took the pain away temporarily. Not sure I noticed any draining as such.. Will try again. Might look up reflexology vids on YouTube to see if I can find which point to massage and put dh to workSmile

TeaandHobnobs · 27/03/2012 20:55

It's the tips of the toes that relate to the sinuses IIRC

CathFin · 27/03/2012 21:09

Yes - all along the tops of the toes is right. She may also have temporarily helped my constipation which was somewhere in the middle of the sole of my foot!
Nothing cleared my sinuses when they were bad - never had anything like it that didn't respond to steam or spicy food, miserable not being able to breathe through your nose!

Kayzr · 27/03/2012 21:12

Dairy I usually use steam with some olbas oil. But when I had it a few weeks ago nothing but the antibiotics worked.

My GP prescribed ibruprofen today for my ankle. I was sure we couldn't take that during pregnancy Confused

DairyNips · 27/03/2012 22:31

Ah toes, got ya, will give it a go. That's the thing that confuses me, my nose isn't blocked at all. I just have pressure feeling and a very achey eye/ headache. The area surrounding my eye is really tender to touch too. I've never had sinus probs before so not sure what to expect. Should I be waiting for them to 'drain'? How would I know this had happened? Will my nose be snotty or will the aching just stop?Confused

TeaandHobnobs · 28/03/2012 08:40

I think your sinuses can be blocked without you having a stuffy/runny nose, especially if the reason they are blocked is because your mucus is so thick/viscous (and that is why they've got infected, because they can't drain). I don't know if other people feel them draining, but mine just seem to do that - I feel the mucus running down the back of my throat. If it's not too painful, you could try massaging the sinuses themselves, above your eyebrows and on the inside points of your cheekbones? But that might be too painful in your case Sad poor Dairy I really hope it does improve soon!

DairyNips · 28/03/2012 09:25

Morning allSmile

Thanks tea, yes I am managing to massage around my eye, it's tender but doable. It does provide temporary relief, I've been doing it quite often. Woken with my headache again today, took painkillers before bed last night so I could sleep. It'll have been going on a week tomorrow! Ridiculous! I've got 2 days of antibiotics left so hope they do the trick..

How is everyone today?

Warlin · 28/03/2012 09:33

Morning all

Thanks for all the reassurance about my puffy lady bits Grin It's def bizarre. I have a scan tonight so might ask consultant but so far in the pregnancy have avoided any exams down there and don't want to volunteer for one unless I have to Blush

Can't wait to see LO again though! He was poking his arm/leg out last night....really strange!

DH can't believe how scatty I have become. Think he thinks I've lost the plot Grin. I keep opening the front door with my car keys and then leaving the keys in the outisde of the door..did it overnight last night! And have left the back door unlocked so many times in the past few weeks. My attention to detail seems to have totally vanished!

tea the reflexology sounds great. In my spa treatment i had a bump massage which was fab...so so relaxing. What about some nice anti- stretch mark bump massage creams? Or really nice bubble bath...anything that will pamper I say!

Really don't want to be in work today...far too warm and sunny :( Did a good bit of packing last night and this morning...still lots and lots to do before Sat {big sigh at the thought)

Kveta · 28/03/2012 10:36

hope you feel better soon Dairy sinusitis is horrendous, especially when you can't take mega-drugs to clear it up. :(

Warlin hope scan is good tonight - how lovely to see baby again! My next one is at 36 weeks, so only 6 weeks to go! however, I will have DS with me, so not sure how much we'll see of the baby. good luck with the move - I moved house twice whilst pg with DS, and am SO glad not to be doing it this time. It's no fun.

tea is the present for mum or baby? for mum, then some vast slabs of chocolate from hotel chocolat or the like. for baby, some nice board books? like Each Peach Pear Plum, the Very Hungry Caterpillar, Peepo, Dear Zoo - all classics for a good reason. those were our best gifts when DS was born, the books for him and the vast quantities of cocoa based products for me :o

didn't sleep much last night, but more than 2 hours. Last day at work today before I head off up north for the conference, yay. flight with a toddler whilst 30 weeks pg, I must be mad. I have so many packets of biscuits, small toys, and books to keep him occupied, and must remember to pack the calpol too!

he is so chatty just now, it's a tad hilarious - in the car home from work yesterday we had a bizarre conversation.
'mummy'
'yes darling'
'I'm just curious'
'really? what about?'
'why, didn't ye know? there's no such thing as a gruffo!'
'um, ok, thanks for telling me!'
'ok mummy. Look! digger!!'

I was going Grin and Hmm for the rest of the journey.

Kayzr is your wedding next week already? you'll have to tell us all about it! I would say and show us pictures, but I guess we'd have to go via FB to do that - which reminds me, if anyone would like it, I could set up a secret FB group for us so we can share photos of babies once they are born. Obviously no hurry for that, but let me know if anyone would be interested :) I have set up one for my old ante-natal/post-natal gang, and it is so secret, only those of us on it know it's there :o

dairynips have you tried salt water spray? I got a suitable for babies, Calpol, one when I had a blocked nose as I usually suffer from blocked sinuses. Ok in pregnancy as it's just salt water in a spray form.

DairyNips · 28/03/2012 10:48

Special I have some of that spray for ds, suppose I could try it.. The dr has given me a steroid nasal spray which I'm using but not sure what it's doingHmm

Kveta sorry you didn't sleep much again. Good luck with the flight, sure it'll be fineSmile I like the idea of a fb group, I did that with the last ante natal group and now most of us are friends on fb and enjoy each others baby updates about our now 2 year oldsGrin

Kayzr · 28/03/2012 11:46

Kveta yes next Thursday is wedding day!! Grin I will be putting some pics on my profile from the wedding.

I'm happy for there to be a be a FB group. We did it with my old TTC group and the Dec 08 ante-natal one.

MammaInTheMaking · 28/03/2012 11:48

yes from me on the FB group Kveta :)

Kveta · 28/03/2012 11:56

ok, can't make it unless I have a friend to add to it Hmm so does anyone want to friend me, I'll create the group, and then we can unfriend if wanted :) search for my hotmail.com account - mouldy goldfish (without the space)
my profile pic is a picture DS drew of me :o

I will call it Jubilant mums of Jubilee babies for now!

god, I really am good at this procrastination thing... writing documentation at the moment and it's, um, not gripping my attention :o

ffnorm · 28/03/2012 11:57

Kazyr they don't recommend Ibuprofen in early pregnancy(foetal abnormalities) and after 28 weeks due to potential for closure of the patent ductus, which is an intergral part of foetal circulation which if closed can lead to high lung pressure in the newborn, also could cause decreased amniotic fluid. Interesting that your GP prescribed it.

warln Also very swollen but not having much more discharge but I'll up you on TMI,I have developed a vericose vein in my labia which is very unsightly Blush

Kveta secret fb sounds like a nice idea Wink

Be back later - DS wants to nap!!

DairyNips · 28/03/2012 11:58

Kveta · 28/03/2012 12:00
