Morning all!

Fanbelt - very jealous of your BBQ. I can't wait to have one this year - having been a veggie for a few years, BBQ has a whole different side to it now I'm back to eating meat!

Well, yesterday went well: men turned up to move the pool table as planned. Had to move a bookshelf to get it out but could have been worse. The moving of the bookshelf then prompted us to move that bookshelf into the dining room, another one into the conservatory, along with a couple of CD racks, and a Lay Z Boy from the conservatory into the dining room! Unfortunately, the Lay Z Boy hasn't been used for a few years and although the firdge bit still works, the heat / massage bit seems to be broken - much fiddling with electrics today to see if we can get it working; the concept of being able to sit in a chair and get a massage at the moment is very appealing!

Today's plan is pretty easy - empty the bedroom for plasterer starting tomorrow. So that should be easy...Hmm. Also going for Sunday lunch with a friend and her husband - her baby is due in April and haven't seen her for a while even though we text / mail and she doen't live far; will be good to catch up!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

RoaryMouth · 25/03/2012 15:12

Good afternoon!
I wish I could be as productive with my weekends as others seem to be. After a busy week at work and having a pregnant ladies attitude to sleep - up to pee, up for cramp, repeat... I have stayed in bed until midday both Saturday and Sunday, awake but lounging!
Today I have accomplished one load of washing and feel very satisfied to have it hanging outside to dry. Now I must go an put my feet up with a Brew!

Kveta · 26/03/2012 09:39

hi all,

yay for returning DP Kayzr! you must be thrilled! and not long until he's your DH too, how exciting!

:o at mini-cheddar Seriously! sounds like you had a crazy busy weekend, I'm exhausted just reading about it!

Fanbelt we had a bbq yesterday - it was lovely not to have to cook for once, as DH obviously wanted to play with his new toy. I just cut some links up, and handed them and some corn on the cob over to him, and left him to it - best meal prep in a long time! DS was so excited by the fire, but refused to eat anything that was cooked on it, so the silly child missed out on some yummy sausages and sweetcorn! More fool him! It was his and DH's first ever bbq too, which is a weird thought. In DH's country they normally stick frankfurter type sausages on a stick and toast them over the fire, but not really grilling anything.

I am again broken with tiredness - not sure how much longer I can keep this up tbh. I managed 2 hours sleep on saturday night, and about 30 minutes last night. I am propping myself up with a can of diet coke at my desk at the moment. I made the usual mistake yesterday of feeling much better after my 2 hours sleep, and went for a walk with DS (testing out the new pushchair, it's brilliant!), only half a mile to the shops and back, but I am SO sore after it. I am not enjoying this SPD malarky one bit. anyway, it meant there was no comfy position in bed last night, not helped by a 2 yo appearing like a malevolant spirit at 3am, and trying to sleep on my face. I ended up on the sofa at 5.

baby had hiccups yesterday though, which was sweet - I'm trying so hard to enjoy this pg, as I'm pretty sure it will be my last, so had my hand on bump for ages just feeling her twitching away. She is so wriggly at the moment. So that was a bright moment in a wearing weekend!!

10 weeks tomorrow, well, probably 12, it's not so long, is it?! Hmm

Kayzr · 26/03/2012 10:11

Morning.

Kveta you poor thing. I think being tired is the worst thing in the world.

I fell and twisted my ankle yesterday. I can't put much weight on it and getting up and down the stairs is very hard Sad

But on a good note MIL2Be ordered our pram this morning. Plus my GTT test is normal!!!

DairyNips · 26/03/2012 10:25

Morning allSmile

kveta sorry you're getting so little sleep. Hope it improves soon.

kayzr sorry about your ankle, must be so soreSad Good news on your GTT though!

I found out the cause of my terrible 3 day headache, sinusitis. Am now on antibiotics and nasal spray and thankfully the horrific pain in my eye has gone. I spent one night just waking and crying with the painSad

We had ds2's 2nd birthday party yesterday. Just a casual do, few snacks and him and his cousins running about in the garden enjoying the sunSmile It was lovely!

Dh back to work today after his week off, boo! It's his birthday today too, poor thing. At least we can celebrate later with some yummy food no doubtGrin

It's a glorious day here, hope it is where you all are!Smile

SpecialJK · 26/03/2012 14:38

dairynips hope the sinusitis gets better soon. I've managed to dodge it so far, but I wake up every morning with what feels like a cold.

kayzr sorry about your ankle
kveta hope you manage to get a good nights sleep soon. you must be running on empty? not sure if you have the time, but I've been having more baths in the evening to try and relax me.

Question for all the 2nd, 3rd, 4th timers. I have homework for my NCT class and need to report back tomorrow! Smile

What was the most useful, and the most useless, piece of baby stuff/equipment you have ever bought?

All answers gratefully received. So far I have top/tail bowl as a useless one. Milton cold steriliser and tablets (rather than a steam one) as the most useful.

Kayzr · 26/03/2012 14:56

Special A sling was the most useful thing I have ever used. I could stick DS2 in it to get him to nap. The most useless was a nappy wrapper. It was the most stupid waste of time and money in the world!!

Special lol at homework!

Sorry you guys are suffering Kveta, Kayzr and DairyNips Sad Hope things get better soon.

It is becoming very difficult to find any motivation for work when the weather is this nice, I feel like someone is alternately sawing my rib cage and my pubic bone, and the rest of my team are nowhere to be seen. I am making the most of it, but I do feel guilty for being so lazy. I need to find another outlet for my brain - I sense it could be shopping!!! Grin I am currently debating whether to bid for a cot on ebay, but having never done it before, I am a bit apprehensive Blush

Trip to the pram warehouse planned for 14 April - am a bit ridiculously excited about this Grin

How is everyone else getting on? It has been a bit quieter on here lately - hope that is because everyone has been enjoying the good weather!

T&H

P.S. Has anyone else read the thread about toddlers saying the most mortifying things? Has absolutely made my day today Grin

DairyNips · 26/03/2012 20:10

Welcome annakinGrin

Hmm most useful thing I have had, I would say as presents go, you can never have enough socks and bibs, I always lose them!

Useless, probably baby bath, easier to use a bath support in the big bath or just get in with them. It's such a faff filling a baby bath and emptying it etc!

Kveta · 26/03/2012 21:10

hiya.

least useful things for us: bath support thing (we used our hands), bath temperature indicator, nappy bin.

most useful: digital thermometer, wooden baby gym, lansinoh/nursing bras

Yay! - Go Kveta !! Sadly I had terrible night last night. 3 days left at work and I was having horrible anxiety dreams all night and kept having to get up for the loo. At least no cramps though...

Can't remember my best/worst baby buys - all feels a bit too long ago... One of the best was probably McLaren umbrella buggy. Got it 2nd hand for about £30 and it's been so useful - probably the only thing apart from the cot (which was given to us by SIL) that we'll be using for all 3 kiddies.

Welcome to Annakin Smile Leg cramps are horrible aren't they - I seem to get them more when I've had a busy day dashing about and not rested enough...

Hobnobs My DH bought an 8-track mixing desk off e-bay on Sunday. It was our first foray onto e-bay and it was really exciting. We won the auction, literally in the dying seconds. It was pretty easy to do (I think some of the other ladies on here are a bit more expert than me) and we definitely got a good price so I'd give it a go, if I were you. I've got a friend who bought her conservatory on e-bay!!

Anyway, should really be working, not MN-ing, given that I've only got 12 hrs left at work (woohoo!). Oh but just quickly, my DH (who's been out of permanent employment since being made redundant in September 2010) has just texted to say he's got a job interview on Friday!! First interview he's had for a very long time so we're rather excited! Grin

DairyNips · 27/03/2012 12:16

Hey everyoneSmile

Woo hoo kveta that's brilliant news! Hope it continues!Grin

My sinusitis is being stubborn, the pain had gone on sun but came back yesterdaySad Not as bad as it had been but enough to make me feel grotty all day. It's still there today and I'm trying to take painkillers as little as poss. Great timing cause I've only got today and tomorrow to do my OU assignment. Staring at a computer screen with a headache and sore eye isn't funSad

CathFin · 27/03/2012 13:03

Dairy - think a few of us have had sinus issues - my infection has finally gone - can't decide if it was the antibiotics in the end or whether it would have gone anyway.

I also had a session of reflexology - no idea whether it made a difference but it was quite relaxing.

The reflexologist nattered all the way through - she inadvertently had her third baby at home in the downstairs toilet and self birthed and the baby was so slippy it slid into the toilet!!!!! Great story - they were all fine apart from the shock! Typically they had phoned the hospital who said they should stay at home for a bit longer!

Worst buy - steriliser, pretty pointless if you bf and then do baby led weaning at 6 months!

Best buys - baby bjorn bouncer chair thing.

Exercise ball too - very useful for sitting on and bouncing upset babies as well as before birth.

thedogwalker · 27/03/2012 13:47

Hi all, been absent for a while, with a cold, and lack of sleep. Work is busy and I just feel I'm getting no rest. LO due in 11 weeks and DH not due home now until 9 weeks. Cutting it fine, I will have to keep my legs x Hmm
Morning, So sorry to hear about the LO's heart defect, but at least you now know about it and can prepare and the Drs have already set up a plan of action to resolve it. Thinking of you x
Blondie, Glad your move went well but sorry to ehar aout your Grand Mother.
Kayzr, sorry to hear about DP's Grandmother but Yah that he's home Grin.
SamJ and Annakin welcome, hope you are both well.
Special I've now been racking my brain, (which is very taxing with the amount of tiredness I'm suffering) to come with the list of best and worst bought items for your LO. [sits and ponders]...... well for me an electric breast pump and the lansinoh nipple cream were both a god send. Not exactly got a worst thing, but buying too many clothes of the same size. DS never got to wear some of them, will come in useful this time round with DS2, but I would say buy clothes wisely, otherwise you will end up with a wardrobe full of clothes which are new or nearly new as the LO has grown out of them so quickly.

Hope everyone is having a good day, take care xx

Warlin · 27/03/2012 14:47

Hi All

I'm back after more than a week away from MN...I had my lovely three days away at a spa hotel and the mother to be pamper package was great...shame it only lasted 1.5 hours....practically slept through it. DH played golf so it was great to relax...all undone though as moving house on Sat so manic at the minute with boxing stuff up. We got our new house all painted so I can't wait to get moved (and sort the nursery!!) but at the minute all I can see is mountains of stuff needing packed up and with no more annual leave it all needs done in the evenings....boo!

Have read the posts and sorry to hear a lot of you aren't feeling well. We are getting close now ladies...10 weeks and the fun begins!!

TMI alert....is anyone else very swollen down below with a lot of discharge? It's just come on in the past few days and doesn't feel like an infection..just wondering if it's all part of the pregnancy journey!!

TDW hoping you can hold off and keep sane for at least another 9 weeks. will be worth it in the end!

SamJ and Annakin welcome and congrats

Morning, So sorry to hear about the LO's heart defect, but at least you can prepare and get the medical support you need.

Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine...it looks lovely from my office window :(

SpecialJK · 27/03/2012 16:19

Thanks to everyone! I'm going to look like a right girly swot in the class Smile

blondiedollface · 27/03/2012 16:21

Warlin on the subject of TMI... I have had exactly the same, just over the last few days! Feels swollen like if I'd been itching, but it's not overly itchy; and the discharge has just increased in quantity... It seems it's the hormonal change going into the third trimester..? But yeh anyone else suffering with this?

Kayzr · 27/03/2012 16:27

Hello

Kveta That is brilliant. Long may the sleep last!! Grin

Welcome to Annakin and SamJ congratulations!!

Warlin I'm glad the spa was good. I hate moving house. I moved when 8 months with both the boys and I have promised myself I will never move when pregnant again.

I bought the car seat today. Babies R Us have a sale on and we got the britax seat that fits onto the pram for £80 instead of £130. Very happy with that!!!

Hope everyone is ok, the weather here is amazing. Hope you all have sunshine too.

Warlin · 27/03/2012 16:32

blondie glad I'm not the only one and fingers crossed it's just the hormones. Haven't been able to see down there for a while but looked in the mirror and didn't recognise what I saw Grin As if feeling like a whale isn't bad enough for bedroom confidence!!!

CathFin · 27/03/2012 17:28

Warlin/Blondie - I had the same with my first pregnancy - even went to the doc but I think it's 'normal' - didn't get it second time and this time having a bath seems to make me v itchy down there so I just shower instead - seems to help!

DairyNips · 27/03/2012 17:53

Warlin I have had very occasional swelling down there.. I've definitely had the more discharge thing, for most of the pregnancy in fact, not known anything like it before!

TeaandHobnobs · 27/03/2012 20:21

Warlin ditto, although I have had the swelling and discharge for months. Every appointment the MW comments that I have one ketone (?) in my urine, and have I had any discharge - but I thought what I was having was like normal (i.e. Not smelly or weird looking) so I say no... Maybe that's bad of me! Took a look with the mirror out of curiosity a few months back, but won't be doing that again - I had no idea things could look so different in pregnancy! Blush
Still suffering with this pubic bone pain, so my yoga instructor has said to keep my knees together as much as possible - so there is no chance of DH getting a glimpse at least Grin

A new challenge for you ladies: am going to a friend's baby shower on Saturday. So far as a group we have bought a bottle of pink champagne and one of those baby bouquet things as gifts, but I have now been tasked with spending £20 on some other gifts. Any suggestions? Despite being a mum-to-be myself, I can't think what I would want to receive as a gift!!!

DairyNips have you tried steaming to try and shift the gunk in your sinuses? I second CathFin's suggestion of reflexology - I used to get sinusitis so often as a teenager, and my mum used to massage the appropriate pressure points on my feet. It really worked, I could literally feel them draining away.
