AmethystMoon, thanks for the Chichester suggestion! Will definitely keep that in mind for Friday...

DairyNips · 20/03/2012 18:18

Thanks for the happy birthday/get well wishes for dsSmile

Kayzr happy birthday to your ds too!Grin

emblosion · 20/03/2012 20:13

Hi everyone, just a quick post from me. Haven't had much time to mumsnet as we've been decorating the nursery as well as getting things sorted for the wedding (4 weeks to go, eek!). Am hopelessly behind on the thread but hope everyone is doing ok?

I haven't got much pregnancy related to report, all seems to be ticking along ok (fingers crossed), bump is getting big now, there's no hiding it! Iron tablets seem to be working thank goodness, had a couple of dizzy spells but no more faints since I started taking them. Time seems to be properly flying, I can't believe I'm nearly at the third trimester!

:)

emblosion · 20/03/2012 20:15

Oh, and happy birthday to Dairy and Kayzr's DS's - hope they had a lovely day!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 20/03/2012 20:32

Evening all!

Welcome to all newcomers!

Just popping on quickly to try and help Shel out re hypnotherapy. It's a bit different to a lot of therapies as there is no single governing body. You could look for someone registered with the NCH (National Council for Hypnotherapy) or one of the other bodies but on the other hand, just because someone isn't registered doesn't mean they aren't well trained. Phone round a few therapists, ask them about where they trained, what their areas of interest are and get a feel for them. You could also ask who they are insured through, how much continunous professional development they complete each year - whatever questions you feel would give you a level of information you're comfortable with to help you select one. You could also ask around what other 'tools' they use besides hypnotherapy - the wider their skillset the more likely they are to be able to flex their approach to meet your needs. It's really important to have a therapist that you're comfortable with as the rapport between therapist and client is very important. If you have any specific questions about anything hypnotherapy related, just ask and I'll be happy to answer if I can.

Hope everyone's having a good evening!

ffnorm · 20/03/2012 21:00

Hi all

Congrats Tea on getting your drivers Smile

Welcome new guys!

Happy birthday to dairyson and kazyrson Thanks

Had my 28 week app last friday - was ok,nice to hear her heart beat and she had hiccoughs which was funny Smile Annoyingly I had to fight with MW to get her to add Thyroid function tests to my 28 week blood requests - eventually she called to check with someone else who said of course I need them done every trimester...

Feeling ok,getting the odd night time leg cramp, have realised it happens when I haven't drunk enough.

DS was in a very loving mood this evening - he sat on the couch with me and my top had ridden up a bit and he said "ooh sister" and kept patting my bump Smile

smallwonder · 21/03/2012 08:13

Morning all,
Hope LOs had good birthdays and everyone is doing well.
Please tell me that I'm not the only one who feels soooo tired for much of the time. Being away is nice, I'm having a well deserved break from the children but I'm not very enthusiastic on the out and about front, DH is dying to get to the coast and I would usually be hurrying us out the door, but not this time. I can only sleep upright and its causing some real backache some mornings.
I better make a m/w appt when I return, didn't think about that one!
Anyone having a c/sec with date yet?
I'll spill the beans and say that my LO should be arriving somewhere around the jubilee :)
Now to wake DH to take me for breakfast. Starving.
Talk soon

Fanbelt · 21/03/2012 09:27

Hi all, hope everyone's feeling okay. I've been suffering from the dreaded leg cramps recently and I'm with you smallwonder on feeling absolutely exhausted most of the time. I think DH is getting a bit fed up of me moaning "I'm tired" all the time (I'm getting fed up of me moaning all the time!). I've just dropped the children at school - on Wednesdays I walk to school with three other children so end up feeling a bit "Family Von Trapp" walking 5 kiddies to school. Now I've got back home i'm meant to be getting my stuff together to go to work but I just feel so tired - that awful all-over exahuastion. So I'm sitting down with a Brew and catching up with MN for 5 mins instead!

Amethyst/Chateau I grew up near Chichester too (a village a bit further West called Rowlands Castle) and I can thoroughly recommend Chichester as a nice place to mooch around for the day.

Smallwonder I'm want a planned c-section. I asked the registrar about when they'd book dates when I went for my 28 wk appt. and she said they don't book it in until 36wks (and according to her I might have changed my mind by then anyway - err... I don't think so missus! - Why do they not take decisions that you've spent time and effort researching and agonising over seriously!! - gets my goat!). Anyway, it may be different in different hospitals. I'm booked in at Southmead in Bristol.

I've got exactly 5 days left until I go on annual leave for 2 weeks over Easter and then start ML - it can't come soon enough! Hope you all have nice Wednesdays. Smile

Fan xx

Kveta · 21/03/2012 09:43

hi all, no time to read over the posts, sorry! had aunt's funeral yesterday which was very emotional, and very tiring - then DS would only sleep in my arms last night, after a very perplexing day for a 2 year old (my sister and her boyfriend are staying with us, which he is not used to! and then we all dressed up nicely, drove down south for 2 hours, visited my nan and saw granny and grandad and the dogs, and my wee brother, then went to the crematorium, then to a church, then there was a service, then lots of cake afterwards, then back to nan's, then back on a 2 hour trek north - long day!).

back in the office today and wishing I could just stay in bed!

awful heartburn here, and SPD is getting excruciating, but next physio appt is 17th of April, so a wee while to wait.

right, need to get ready for conference next week, so please shout if you see me on here in the next fortnight!!

Miniangel · 21/03/2012 10:30

Hi everyone

Happy Birthday to Dairy's and Kayzr's DS.
Kveta glad to know that the funeral went well. May your aunt's soul rests in peace.
fanbelt 5 days to go for leave to begin. yay. I agree with you, it's so annoying when pple wait for you to change your mind.

I am getting this awful pain in my left hip and it's very uncomfortable to sit, walk or lie down. Any suggestions? Have my GTT on Friday and 28 week bloods on Monday. I can't believe I am in my third trimester finally. This pg has seemed quite long.

I have my best friend's DS's 1st b'day this weekend and my baby shower the next weekend so really looking fwd to the events. Gifts have started arriving for my baby shower already and it's great to open the boxes and find the things on my list.

rhibutterfly · 21/03/2012 10:38

Sorry haven't got the heart to wade through all the posts i've missed, hope everyone ok and it's smooth sailing for you all.
oh kveta sounds like you've got your hands full, how come the long wait between physio appointments?I hope you have a more settled night with your DS tonight xxx
I'm lucky i've been having physio every week but just my luck this week while my physio on holidays the SPD is at its most painful,my hips feel like someone's taken a sledgehammer to them and i still find using crutches highly embarrasing, on the plus side i'm off work til after maternity leave now so plenty of time to get things prepared, am planning a home birth this time as local birthing centre closing and my physio said theSPD could actually help make dilation easier in labour, hope it's true :)

rhibutterfly · 21/03/2012 10:42

Don't want to sound maudlin miniangel but it could be start of SPD maybe? time will tell xx

surfmama · 21/03/2012 15:10

rhi fingers crossed I hope it's not spd.
surfmama after completing 27 weeks you are in your third trimester. Congratulations.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 21/03/2012 19:35

Evening all!

Long day at work today (which is pretty usual at the moment actually!) but returned home to find my GTT results waiting for me, which was nice. Passed the test so that's one more thing off the list of things that can get between me and a homebirth! Just need to keep blood pressure on an even keel, avoid protein in my urine and have okay growth scans and I should be home and dry. Hmm

Anyway, hope everyone's having a good evening!

bemybebe · 21/03/2012 20:18

Good evening everyone, welcome to all newcomers Smile

SSC - Good to hear that you are on route to homebirth (wish this was possible for me, but I am really scared of what will happen this time and just want to get over and done with the birth).

Kveta - [hugs]

I had a few quiet days slipping off the effects of steroids (was put on them due to v strong BH and previous history of preterm labour at 24 weeks). Side effects are different for everyone but I was displaying all of them at ones - hot flushes/raised t and pulse, great hike in appetite and thirst (i was nearly bursting from all the water and food I had to consume to keep it down resulting in increase in heartburn Angry), mood swings, difficulty sleeping... you name it. The lo was kicking away, but I think she is a bit squeezed in there as kicking was not as intense as before, although not really reduced to warrant going back to the hospital for monitoring...

surfmama · 21/03/2012 20:18

arr hello locals - you are near me in west wittering then... maybe will will bump bumps at some stage!

Fanbelt · 22/03/2012 09:14

Surfmama Fond memories of sailing to West Wittering and playing on the beach when I was a kiddie. Haven't been back for years - last time was on the back of my brother's motorbike to avoid the horrendous traffic so was definitely pre-children!

SSC Glad to hear your GTT result was the right one. I'm still waiting for mine - forgot to ask the MW when I'd get the result back but I presume if it was bad news they'd be on the phone straight away.

My auntie sent a lovely little dress&knickers set through the post yesterday. Everyone seems so excited that we're having a girl after already having 2 boys. Don't ever remember getting this much attention with the first two. I wonder if it's because she's a girl or if it's because she's likely to be our last? But I do love my boys and I'd have been very happy having a third. Anyway, I'm rambling now...

Hope everyone's okay and coping with the aches/pains/lack of sleep/having to get on with daily life while feeling like an elephant etc.

Fan. x

MorningHasBroken · 22/03/2012 09:39

Morning all! Am checking back in having been flying under the radar recently. Unfortunately at our last scan it was picked up that our baby has a heart defect, so I'll now be induced a week early and the baby will have major surgery within the first week. Sad

It's taken a few weeks to digest the info but we're back on track now! Am having frequent scans and the consultants seem overwhelmingly positive that they can sort everything out an mini-Morning will have a full quality of life once he/she is fixed.

Apart from that I'm feeling surprisingly good - not too tired, not too achey, and we're just getting the nursery decorated so starting to see things come together. I even made curtains myself! [proud face emoticon]

Fanbelt · 22/03/2012 09:58

Morning I'm sorry you've had such difficult news. But at least they've picked it up early and are doing everything they can to make sure mini-morning gets the best care. And well done for making your own curtains - I'm going to have a go myself but with my Mum supervising!! Best of luck for the rest of your pg. xx

MammaInTheMaking · 22/03/2012 10:21

That must have been very frightening to find out Morning but it sounds like you are receiving some really excellent care and baby will be as right as rain once he or she is fixed up. Sending you my best love and luck. I also made the nursery curtains (and the bedroom and lounge ones...). All super basic ones but am so satisfied with my efforts :) We got the fabric from Ikea, it has foxes and bunnies running all over it. A bit abstract and maybe a bit trippy but i like it!

29 weeks today and baby's a butternut squash :o

MorningHasBroken · 22/03/2012 10:26

Thanks Fanbelt. Curtains were surprisingly easy btw (used a blackout lining on the back so don't need to both with blinds now) just a bit fiddly due to the sheer volume of fabric you need. good luck with them!

MorningHasBroken · 22/03/2012 10:31

Mamma I may have the bug now too. Did new cushion covers at the same time and am eyeing up the living room curtains at the moment. Found a fabic warehouse nearby where everything is £2 a metre so I can afford to have a go and not get too worried if they go wrong!

We did have a wobbly few weeks but now are just trying to stay positive (you can get so bogged down in 'what ifs' but that doesn't get you anywhere) and make sure this baby is as strong and healthy as possible when it's born. Got measured as in the 85th percentile last week so it's looking good on that front at least... Grin

SpecialJK · 22/03/2012 10:42

morning sorry to hear your news. but very pleased that they picked it up and that the doctors are so upbeat about it. I'm sure everything is going to work out fine, I'm amazed at what they can do these days, especially around heart issues. sending you best wishes.

Hmm, and cushion covers. wish I knew what flavour my LO is. I would be down buying some fabric right now! Sounds like a great idea. I'll add craft stuff to my new 'thrifty' self

My minor panic this morning was around mortgages. I did some digging, and apparently it can be an issue trying to either get a new mortgage, or even remortgage your existing one during mat leave. My deal was due to come to an end in September with First Direct, and apparently they are the worst, they pretty much won't give you a mortgage on mat leave point blank. anyway, called them to see if i could switch deals early, and it turns out they had put me on the wrong rate anyway! I was meant to be a on a capped 3 year deal, but they have me on a different, better rate that means I don't need to do anything as it's a lifetime tracker. So that's a bit of weight off my mind in the short term, still wondering what we do if we decide to move before I go back to work. Not going to worry about that yet though.....

First NCT on Tuesday was good, if not interesting! I'm worried it may be a bit 'yogaish' for me (I can't stand all that relaxation thing, it makes me stressed for some reason, couldn't go to yoga because of it either). Really nice people though, and especially nice to meet people at the same stage as you. The boys were already trying to organise beers!
