Kayzr* Glad all is well with your LO.
Special I am an ebay virgin, but am thinking it may be worth going on and selling stuff that I no longer need, all in the aid of recycling of course Grin. Is it easy to set up an account etc?
I'm having a busy day at work, but it means the hours go by quickly. I manage to come on here whilst eating my lunch at my desk and doing as many women do, multi task day.
Hope everone had a great mothers day. take care xx

Shelduck · 19/03/2012 13:12

CathFin and rrrayray - thanks for encouragement over driving. Yes, I would say that my fear of driving is actually a phobia. I had wondered if hypnotherapy would help, but that's as far as my thought process went - I don't really know much about it hypnotherapy or how I'd go about investigating it. Anyone?!

small - Have a fantastic holiday! I'm relieved that I'm not the only one having problems finding a comfortable position at night! I usually try to lay on my side, but if I lean back too much my back hurts, and if I lean forward too much, my bump hurts, and it seems to be there's a window of about 5 millimetres where both are OK - but no amount of propping will keep me there! I think I need some kind of harness...

Kayzr - glad LO is OK. I do find mine has quiet periods too.

Special - the Gingerbread stuff looks really nice. Hope the antenatal class goes OK. Let us know how it goes! I've just got the dates for my NHS antenatal through and it clashes with my NCT breastfeeding workshop - so not quite sure what to do about that. I'm sure I'll work something out, but I'm slightly paranoid that asking to reschedule will get me caught in a war of ideolgies. I'm worried that I'll get a black mark against my name if I tell the NCT organiser that I can't attend the breastfeeding workshop (natural, nurturing, encouraging of bonding) because I'm going on a tour of the hospital maternity unit (i.e. place where unborn children are tortured by doctors). You don't think they'll expel me, do you? I sound like I'm being massively unfair on the NCT, but I think this is just me practising the guilt of feeling like a bad mother no matter what I do that will no doubt become familiar over the next years i.e. the rest of my life. Grin

Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day and got spoilt as much as they deserved (or more! Wink)

Kveta · 19/03/2012 13:20

Shelduck we had 2 couples in our NCT bfing class who had been unable to attend their own class - it's not going to be a black mark against you :o unless your NCT teacher is bonkers, which sadly may happen. Hopefully you'll get a sane one, like we did!

DS woke at 4am yesterday, so I saw a lot more of mother's day than I planned to Hmm he then spent the day whining because he was so tired. After his nap though, the 3 of us worked together to make a big chocolate cake, and he was much nicer after that! He actually ate some dinner too, which is unlike him at the weekend!

I'm loving that the weather has finally perked up - kicking DS out into the garden of an afternoon is much better than having to find ways to entertain him indoors, especially since he has started to draw on the floor and walls (not sure why?! we have given no indication that this is acceptable behaviour?!). lovely on newly decorated walls...

nothing much exciting here, except baby is in another mood, where she does the odd prod, but is otherwise stationary. I keep on going 'haven't felt her move today!' to DH, then get a hoof in the diaphragm just as I'm panicking. I think she will keep us on our toes once she arrives :o

we are planning to get baby stuff together after easter - it still doesn't feel totally real that by father's day, we will have another child. we were looking at some old pictures of DS yesterday, including the first ones, where he was latched on for the first time - he was so teeny tiny then! I'm starting to wonder what it will be like to feed a newborn again, after having a toddler mauling me the past few months.

I just calculated - I have 10 weeks +2 days left at work, and 11 weeks +1 day until baby is due.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!! Shock

where has the time gone?!

flossy101 · 19/03/2012 14:40

Hi all Smile
Can I join?! I am due on the 25th June, and I cannot wait!!

Had a stress free pregnancy so far, but very fed up at work! Still, only 10 weeks, 4 days and 2 hours left until start maternity leave!

MonkeyJr · 19/03/2012 16:02

Hi All,

It has been ages since I posted but have been trying to keep up with all the posts. Wow we can talk!

All has been going really smoothly so far but now that I have said that I am sure the heartburn, leg cramps, sleepless nights will hit me - karma Wink
The one update is that we have found out that we are having a little girl :) which I am over the moon about. Not so sure about DH as he keeps mumbling something about firearms licences LOL

Special - let us know how the NCT class goes, don't start mine for another month!

Kveta - I haven't done any shopping either. Still trying to decide on the pram Confused. Hopefully have a little more time before I find it all too difficult.

Have a great day all!

AmethystMoon · 19/03/2012 18:32

Hi everyone
I typed out a really long post last night and then lost it - arghhh!

Shelduck - I love your pictures idea :)
Warlin I hope you're okay now and the cramps have gone/eased?
rrayray - I've started getting heartburn too :( I'm just eating smaller portions (not like me at all Grin) and drinking milk when it hurts. Gaviscon makes me retch!
SpecialJK Take it easy at work and Yay! to your ebay success, I must start again...I need the space...and the money!
Thedogwalker I've started to get sciatica too, my MW has referred me to a physiotherapist...hope it helps - no sign of an appointment yet though :(
Kveta and Seriously - I'm glad your GTT went okay, fingers crossed for good results.
Smallwonder - I'm right there with you on not sleeping - it's driving me nuts. Last night I actually managed to get into quite a deep sleep, but then my DP's pager and mobile were going all night as he works for the emergency services and is on call. I was trying hard not to be annoyed as if he gets called it means something horrid has happened - which is sad :(
Kayzr - I'm glad you and your LO are okay, it is stressy when they suddenly stop moving isn't it.
Welcome flossy - love your countdown to ML Grin

I've not been up to much exciting, I have started shopping though Grin, I spent a frustrating day yesterday trying to find a few newborn bits to take to the hospital and for the first few weeks. LO is measuring on the small side so don't think she'll be a whopper! I am really not a pink person and it is so hard to find neutral stuff in bright colours (i.e. not beige!). I don't mind bright pink, it's the pale girly pink that is EVERYWHERE I'm not keen on. I think it is because I have red hair and pale pink looks terrible on me, but I've just never liked it. I got some nice sleep suits in Next with the scratch mitts built in and one in Boots in the sale :). But then finding hats to go with them is impossible. So I ended up getting 2 white hats in mothercare, hopefully it'll be nice and warm and she won't need hats for long. Thinking of starting my own baby clothes business NOT selling pale pink...but then I guess most people like it, so I might not do very well! I do think in this day and age most retailers are very behind in their exclusively pink and blue options for small babies. That said the stuff for 3 months plus is lovely, they've got some really bright things in M&S and Next...so I plan to hit the Next sale and buy things for next summer.

I've also started my hospital bag. Bought some cheap big pants from Primark...waste of money, they just aren't cut to my shape :(...so I got disposables from Tesco in the end. I think I'm gonna need a suitcase, I keep thinking of things. If anyone has a list of hospital bag contents that they've tried and tested I'd be grateful...pretty please Thanks

RoaryMouth · 19/03/2012 19:20

Hi everyone!
I'd like to join your thread at this late date. You have all been very busy chatting without me. I've had a read through and feel reassured to see many similarities - cramps waking me up most nights, buttock and pelvic pain (which have been not as bad for the past week) and general lack of sleep. I'm taking the lack of sleeping ability as training.
Other than that I am enjoying my first pregnancy!

Welcome RoaryMouth and flossy - and welcome back MonkeyJr!

I'm thinking of getting my hospital bag stuff together too, amethyst - DH is very busy at work at the moment, so we won't have time to do proper baby shopping until Easter, so I figure I can direct my desire to shop at something else! Having said that, just came home to a bill for the property service charge which is twice as much as previous years Sad ouch.

thedogwalker · 19/03/2012 20:10

Kveta I feel the same about holding teeny weeny baby again. DS is 18 months and he is quite tall so it will be weird cradling a LO now that I'm use to my big lad. Welcome back monkeyjr amethyst I'm no use on the hospital bag even though this is #2, in Germany, the hospital provides disposable knickers, pads, nappies and clothes for LO all you need to take is the going home outfit for LO. So I'm going to have to get ideas from others too. Welcome Roary and Flossy I'm completely knackered tonight, I'm in bed already and will be going to sleep as soon as I finish this post. Roll on ML. Take care all xx

Kayzr · 19/03/2012 20:15

Hello RoaryMouth and Flossy congratulations.

I have my GTT tomorrow and I am really not looking forward to it at all. I have to get DS1 to school and then get to drs to have it. I am going to be starving!!!

DS1 is 5 tomorrow!!! I can not believe he is getting so old. Grin I've just been looking at his baby pictures and he looks so tiny.

Hope everyone is ok.

rrrayray · 19/03/2012 20:22

Shelduck- afraid I have no experience of hypnosis, perhaps there is an area on MN which you could post for people's experiences of whether it works
Etc.

Amyethst - sorry to hear you've joined the hesrtburn club. Thankfully I haven't had any since the weekend! Phew! I haven't even thought of hospitial bag or baby bits etc. we are moving in 4/5 weeks time, I dont feel like I can prepare anything until at least then!!

Welcome newbies! Xx

SpecialJK · 19/03/2012 21:07

Welcome roarymouth and flossy!

tdw relatively easy to setup account, the longest part is the paypal bit so you can receive payments. I've bought a couple of things first to get some feedback points. Got a new with tags on jojo linen dress in an auction yesterday for £16. Also just won a couple of auctions for nursery decoration things as I figure they don't need to be brand new. It does take time to get the hang of writing the description and loading the photos from my iPhone, but I quite like it as I know it will be worth it. At the moment I'm basically funding my maternity clothes buying and baby things from my sales. It's quite addictive!

I'll let everyone know Wednesday what AN class is like. I think I'm early, but the next set of classes would have been cutting it fine. Think I finish last class end of may or something

10000fireflies · 20/03/2012 07:58

Morning all. Just a quick hi from me again. Hope you're all enjoying some good weather. Glad I'm not the only one planning my hospital bag. I've started collecting bits and pieces. I know there's a list of suggestions on the NCT page but I haven't looked at it yet.

We had a friend staying from the US over the weekend and he brought some really cool OshKoskh baby clothes - some fun T-shirts. Not seen anything quite like that here. Slowly accummulating things for the baby now. DH and I treated ourselves to buying baby's first toy - a set of wrist/foot rattles. Really sweet. Not long now....!!! Me, no denying I'm preggers now. Bump apparently growing by the hour!!

Welcome to all newbies. Waves to all. Have a lovely day. xx

Kayzr · 20/03/2012 09:47

I've had the first blood test and the nasty drink. I was told I could go home if I promised to sit on the sofa and do nothing. That shouldn't be hardGrin

rrrayray · 20/03/2012 10:52

Morning all

DD Has picked up the sickness bug thats doing the rounds so had about an hours sleep last night! :-( blurgh.

DairyNips · 20/03/2012 11:09

Morning ladiesSmile

rrray sorry to hear that, hope she's better soon.

Ds2 (who is 2 today) also has started with a bugSad he has a temp and was sick yesterday evening and twice in the night. Thankfully nurofen is helping so he's at least enjoying opening his presents.

Surprisingly we managed to get some sleep as he was sick around midnight then slept till 8am..

How is everyone today?

ChateauMargot · 20/03/2012 11:10

Welcome, RoaryMouth and flossy!

Ugh - smallwonder and AmethystMoon, I'm with you on the disturbed sleep. Fortunately the hip pain has stopped (for the most part), though. Trying to focus on the positives!

DH and I are off to Bognor Regis for the weekend from Thursday (DH's work is taking him there on Friday, so I'll have a day to myself and then we'll have two days to mooch about the seafront eating fish and chips). Never been before, but looking forward to a mini break/change of scene. If anyone has any suggestions for things we absolutely must do (as well as good places for me to potter on Friday - bearing in mind I won't have a car), that would be greatly appreciated!

justwantcheese · 20/03/2012 12:18

hi all, can't believe how close we are all getting to the big day, time has really flown-from the first pips to enourmous tummies Grin
my hospital list will be;
lots of big pants
lots of pads
2 button front nighties
10x ribena cartons
lots of choc
dried fruit
toothbrush etc
ipod
magazine
charged up phone
slippers
dressing gown (dark col)
something comfy to go home in with elasticated waist
5 onesies
nappies
car seat!
baby wipes.

think that's it!

AmethystMoon · 20/03/2012 12:49

Hi all

ChateauMargot - you're coming to my part of the world! I can't think of much to do in Bognor apart form the seafront fish n chips, but for the day you're alone get a bus (or train) to Chichester (very close) - fab shopping. Lots of places to stop for a drink and rest, very pretty. It's not all big department stores, lots of high street names but all smallish....and go to Montezuma's for their gorgeous chocolate (on East Street) - the bags of huge chocolate buttons are lush Grin. My hospital is in Chichester so everytime I have an appointment I have to wander to Montezumas! If you get a bus to the train station, you'll be at the bottom of South Street, then walk up to 'The Cross' and the whole centre is basically a cross shape with a North, South, East and you've guessed it a West Street! Easy :-)

When you're with your DH there's a nice cafe on Bognor seafront shaped like a big sort of bronze wave - that's good to stop at. You could always go to Butlins Grin. Other local places are Emsworth and Bosham or a bit further afield Arundel is lovely. If you've not got a car though, I think they can all be reached by train. PM me if you've got any questions. Right I'll stop waffling on about my part of the world now :)

Justwantcheese - thank you for the list....I think I have most of these...dressing gown is white though (drat!)...a few things I hadn't though - cartons of ribena - fab idea I love ribena Grin...oh god car seat!! I'd have forgotten that!! - Knowing me I'll leave the baby behind Hmm

Dairy I hope your DS2 feels better soon, how rotten on the little fella's birthday :(

Kayzr I hope you're resting on the sofa and the rest of the test goes okay for you x

10000fireflies - thanks for the suggestion of the list on the NCT pages, I hadn't thought of that :)

Right back to work......

millyv · 20/03/2012 12:50

Afternoon everyone!!

It's been busy on here again, I can hardly keep up!

No real news this end, I have been sleeping better and am now into a little routine of bath/shower at 8.30 then bio oil mysellf (I think I'm winning the battle of the stretch marks so far as I don't see any and have asked DH to check where I can't see!) and then onto the bed with an ice lolly to cool myself down whilst watching some rubbish on the tv ready for sleep at 10! Seems to be working so far and I do feel a little better but I still get so tired around 3 in the afternoon for some reason?!

I do have positive news on the old toilet front, had started to struggle more and was feeling sick for about 5 days of not going and then literally all hell would break loose and I'd spend half a day on the loo - sorry for TMI! Last week I started having granola and yoghurt for breakfast again and since then I have been going every day or at the longest every other day - so not sure if thats been helping it along? Worth a try for anyone suffering?! I had been adding either strawberrys/blueberrys or kiwi to it aswell - although not all at once!

Still going to my pregnant yoga class and it seems to help with the aching back which is nice. I've had a few more incidents of the cramp in the middle of the night, which is weird because it's always the same leg and the same place? But nothing major to complain about really.

I have a man coming over the house tonight to have a look at the nursery windows for blinds, hopefully he won't be as expensive as hillarys and will have just as nice stuff, it's a local company and I have been recommended them by a few people so hopefully I can tick a job off the list tonight!

I have started to think about my hospital bag and have spoken to DH about this, we are hoping to go shopping to pick up some things we haven't got on order next weekend so although they won't be packed they'll be in the house!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Xx

CathFin · 20/03/2012 13:25

Milly - the constipation is just awful. I keep meaning to buy some of the glycerol pessaries my midwife mentioned for emergencies, must get some more blueberries too - they definitely help my DS so might sort me out too!

Must start thinking about my hospital bag properly too, need to get nappies etc my braxton hicks yesterday were awful and its made me a bit jumpy.

Also need to ring doula to see if she can come and meet hubby and me as he has suddenly realised that we might need a spare pair of hands to ensure I don't end up in a situation where I am in hosp on my own while he waits for someone to come and look after DD and DS.

SpecialJK · 20/03/2012 13:28

hey millyv
Have a look at Tuiss (online) for blinds. You have to put them up yourself, but my DH did the bay window and were all really easy to put up. They were about 1/3 the price of the equivalent at John Lewis. I think they're good quality (and I'm picky)

thedogwalker · 20/03/2012 13:34

Kayzr Happy birthday to DS1. Dairynips Happy birthday to DS2, hope he feels better for his big day. rrrayray Hope DD gets better soon.
Doesn't it all seem so close now, with all this talk of hospital bags. I was so organised with DS1, it was already packed by now, but this time, it seems work is taking over and I have hardly anytime for organsing my life. I finish work on Friday 13th of April Hmm and I will then concentrate on baby stuff.
Hope everyone is well, take care xx

Kayzr · 20/03/2012 13:40

Well the GTT wasn't the horrible thing I was expecting. I was blooming starving though by the time the 2nd lot of blood was taken.

Dairy Happy birthday to your DS. I hope he is feeling better now.

I don't really have anything either. Just some clothes. I think the pram is being ordered in the next few days as MIL is paying for it and she is coming round tomorrow.
