CathFin · 16/03/2012 11:35

TDW - would just like to say I had been up in the night with DD and then up at 5am with DD so at some point collapsing in bed is the only option!

Warlin - I'd ring the midwife but they will probably want you to pop in for some monitoring. I had some twinges a couple of weeks ago but I didn't take my own advice and just ignored it. Its stopped now anyway. Think it was just everything stretching and taking the strain.

Seriously - I've never tried a neti pot - not sure if I will be able to as lots of things are making me gag.

Shelduck · 16/03/2012 11:42

Warlin - Oh God yes! Definitely just private pictures for DH and I! The idea of framing them and putting them up in the hall, and then MIL coming round visit...! I'm sure some people would happily show them off though - Facebook, mouse mats, personalised Christmas cards (you could decorate your naked bump with tinsel). Grin

thedogwalker · 16/03/2012 12:13

Cathfin I hope you didn't think I was having a go at you, I was just envious, as I wanted to be in bed. But obviously it wasn't a treat for you either if you were just catching up and missed sleep in the first place. Sorry if I offended, I didn't mean to. I know what it's like when the LOs play up, my DS has been good so far, fingers x, he stays that way. Hope you had a better night last night Smile

Kayzr · 16/03/2012 13:23

Warlin it does sound like braxton hicks. But please ring your midwife if you are worried.

Shel I have thought about maybe getting DP to take some pics but have been put off. Someone I know has just had a load of pictures done of her and her DP just in jeans with his hands over her breasts. They are all over Facebook and they are vile. [sick smiley]

We've been to the fire station with play school this morning. It was very good. But no good looking firemen. SadGrin

CathFin · 16/03/2012 13:35

TDW - I wasn't offended, just saying it was rather unusual! I was quite gutted that I couldn't do the same today although I did get a full nights sleep (apart from waking up to turn over) last night!

Someone would have to spend a lot of time photoshopping my stretch marks for me to consider a photo of my bump - not sure its something I want to remember too clearly either!

TeaandHobnobs · 16/03/2012 13:41

Ugh just went with a friend from work to the BEST BURGER PLACE EVER (Byron). three bites into my delicious burger and the fire alarm goes off!!! Stupidly didn't think to wrap up my burger and take it out with me, but had to abandon ship entirely when the fire engines turned up.
Am so Angry I really wanted the rest of that burger! And my chocolate milkshake!
The crappy sandwich I had to eat from pret instead was just pants in comparison.

Ok, pity party over Grin

Hope the cramps stay away now Warlin. I've been wondering for a while what Braxton Hicks will feel like / if I will get them. The last couple of days I've been getting sort of stabby/achey pain in my groin if I walk too fast - any theories on that?! Is it mild SPD/PGP or whatever it is called now?

I am so desperate to start buying stuff! Looking forward to antenatal classes starting two weeks today Smile

Kayzr · 16/03/2012 14:04

Oh I meant to say Congratulations to Tea. I need to learn to drive. I refuse to have any more babies until I can drive.

I am also desperate to buy stuff. We are going to start getting stuff after the wedding.

rrrayray · 16/03/2012 14:57

Hello all. Appologies with lack of posting. With the new house project managing, choosing paint & tiles, and DD I haven't had much time to myself recently.

How are you all?

Warlin - I assume all has calmed down now? I've had a few little twinges but nothing of any regularity. Definately second what others have said, exactly what your midwife / mw team are there for, call if in doubt. Both then & you would rather be on the safe side.

Pregnancy bump photos - lovely idea, wish id done last time round too. Am still pretty neat & most people seem a bit surprised only 11 weeks to go, so maybe I should get on & get photos done before the explosion of growth at the end!

Fairly well here. This baby certainly moves less / more gently than DD, but im
Not worried as this certainly seems to be normal for him. The movements are much more controlled and soft than jerky and seem to be all facing inwards & almost tickling my insides than jutting out of my stomach!

Had 2 more migraines this week but luckily struck in the evening so was able to just climb into bed before they reached full strength. My new symptom is heartburn never had any at all with DD and it is mighty unpleasant so sympathies for those who have been suffering with it for a while. Does anyone have recommendations for diet things to help (ie, does a certain food group make it worse?! ) and also what's best for treating? Any tips greatly received.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend planned. My DH left this morning is back Sunday early morning, leaves Monday am and back Wednesday lunchtime so am flying solo for a few days!

bemybebe · 16/03/2012 15:52

ray I am a fellow heartburn sufferer. Gaviscon suspension was my long-term friend until it stopped working (recently)... so my obgyn recommended Zantac 300mg/once a day in the morning before trying something more strong. Zantac is the brand name for RANITIDINE, which otc medicine I believe.

Foods to avoid - anything with caffeine < sniffs >, chocolate , acidic like fruit juices (so no pain au chocolat with an orange juice - wail), fatty or fried, however, do listen to your body as some people say the foods "on the list" do nothing to them, whilst "permitted" trigger heartburn. In my case before I asked for help anything was setting my heartburn, even water. But it was completely unbearable when I got a cold with running nose and this was also affecting me to the degree that I could not even recline without major pain... it is much more manageable now, but I do stay on a very plain diet.

Kayzr · 16/03/2012 16:24

Ray I use gaviscon. I have 3 600ml bottles dotted about the house. Like next to the sofa and next to the bed. Everything seems to trigger mine except spicy foods, which is good as I live on spicy food. Orange juice is the worst thing ever for me. I forgot yesterday and had a bottle of fresh OJ and it was unbearable. Milk is meant to help too.

Shelduck · 16/03/2012 17:23

Yes, many congratulations Tea! I'm so pleased for you. I can drive, but I've hardly driven at all in the last 15 years because it scares the shit out of me - I mean I'm seriously frightened by it. But having a baby has kind of brought me to the crunch point, and I know I'm going to have to do it if I'm going to have any sort of independence. I was hoping that motherhood would bring out previously untapped reserves of courage in a Hollywood ordinary-mom-does-what-she-has-to-for-the-sake-of-Little-Jimmy sort of way. Those of you already mums - do you think being a mum makes you any braver? Or will I just be so tired that I won't have the energy to be scared anymore? Wink

CathFin · 16/03/2012 17:45

Shelduck - I passed my test when I was 17 and then basically didn't drive until I had my daughter at 34 (because we were in London and I didn't need to!). It did scare me witless for a while but funnily enough I found a heap of mums here who admitted to lots of random driving behaviour - won't use the A3, won't reverse park etc - I am a lot more confident now and its just a case of doing more driving. (Says me after scraping the front bumper on a bollard last night - the stupid thing was black and it was dark and I was reversing!).

Well done Tea!

rrrayray · 16/03/2012 17:46

Kayzr & bemybee - so sorry to hear others suffering with heartburn. Having never had it, it's Really rather unpleasant isn't it? I had heard milk can soothe it too, but unfortunately they think that my migranes maybe being triggered to a slight dairy intolerance. Goodness me, roll on June!

Shelduck - driving doesn't bother me in the slightest, so I'm not sure my opinion is of much worth! I would imagine that initially you would perhaps be even more fearful of driving, I know I felt ever so nervous driving DD a few days old around. But, I think eventually you'll over come it to enable you to get to baby groups or anything else you'd really like to attend. Fingers crossed. Are you actually genuinely scared / have a phobia as opposed to just not that fond? If so.... Had you thought of addressing the problem, perhaps with some kind of hypnotherapy? Not that ive ever tried it, but I've heard of others who have overcome fears this way. Good luck!!!!

SpecialJK · 16/03/2012 20:07

checking in! been quiet this week as mental at work. was in bed before 10pm every night. Last night I could hardly walk to my car as the pulling pains on my stomach were so bad. Resolve to tell my boss that I can't do as much as that in the future.

tea congrats on the driving test!
warlin hope cramps are ok

I'm being punished anyway, as last week everyone had leg cramps and I was thinking I was lucky as I hadn't had any. Spoke too soon. leg and really painful foot/toe cramps every night this week, to the point of crying. I've figured out that if I keep my feet really warm with 2 thick socks on each it seems to stop.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. We've been clearing out the cellar and I discovered ebay selling this week. just sold £60 of stuff that's been down there for a year, so I'm going back down tomorrow to find some more! It's all going in the 'baby fund' Grin

thedogwalker · 17/03/2012 17:25

Tea you've been amazingly restrained if you've not been buying yet. Get out there girl and shop, shop, shop Grin. Sending lots of relief hugs to those of you suffering heartburn, its not started yet for me and I do hope it stays away. Lots of feel better vibes to my fellow back pain, pulling tummy pain and general all round aches and pains. I've been to a soft play area today with my DS1 and after fooling around on some of the areas with him my sciatica is now making itself known. Off swimming with DS tomorrow so that will help it. Hope everyone has a fab mothers day. Take care xx

Kveta · 17/03/2012 19:16

hi all

GTT was ok yesterday - I was allowed lucozade instead of the pure glucose solution! which is good, as I was quite sick already in the morning. felt rough by the end of the 2 hours, and as they couldn't find a vein in my left arm, have 3 holes in my right arm :( and I had such bad heartburn all day too, which was annoying as I couldn't take anything for it...

knackered again, as I didn't sleep at all thursday night. DS has slept through for 2 nights in a row though, so I'm really annoyed that i haven't slept!! DH gave me a long lie in this morning though, thank god.

i'm having awful braxton hicks this evening, am sitting down now because a few have been quite breathtaking. just hope they go away by bed time, I want some sleep tonight!

no plans for tomorrow, DS bought me some chocolates in the supermarket today, which I somehow paid for Hmm but otherwise just having a quiet day!

hope everyone has a nice mother's day tomorrow!

Morning all and Happy Mothers Day to all mums and mums-to-be :)
(I'm Ecstatica btw, I don't feel very Ecstatica at the moment -- more like Sciatica!!!)

I haven't had much of a chance for a catch up. I feel like I'm at least 35 weeks now, not just 27, I can barely sleep at all on my side, so already sleeping upright surrounded by pillows and waking constantly. I need to banish DH from the bedroom soon, let's say he has quite a rude awakening should he snore or move when I finally get off to sleep ;)

I still haven't bought a thing. Easter weekend will leave just 8 weeks till LO arrives so I thought that may be as good a time as any to buy a few bits. Good idea yes? Cajole...cajole.... How are we all doing on the hospital bags -- think will aslo start mine Easter weekend.

Looking after children is hard at the moment, they are as good as gold, I home educate so have very little in the way of breaks but they toddled off to grandparents yesterday and I am flying out in a few hours for a week away. Can you believe GP letter for flight costs £25 here!

Looking forward to catch up at some point in the week while child free and abroad :)

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday girls. Ohhh...congratulations to passing driving test I meant to say :)

Is Alligatorpie around?

DairyNips · 18/03/2012 11:12

Another MNetter is offering boys clothes to a good home.

Kayzr · 18/03/2012 15:30

Mothers day has been quite hectic. I thought last night baby was quiet but as she had been mixing during the day it was ok. By 10 this morning there weren't any movements so I had to go and get monitored. She had moved so all her limbs are more towards my back. Everything is fine she moved back when I was at the hospital so I've been getting kicked again

Kayzr · 18/03/2012 15:30

Mixing?? Blush moving even.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 18/03/2012 17:43

Afternoon all!

Well, GTT on Friday was okay - didn't feel as bad as I expected. Apparently they'll phone me if there's a problem, write if there isn't. Either way, if I haven't heard anything by Thursday I'm probably okay. Hmm

Went piano shopping yesterday and found a lovely little piano that I fell in love with. It's not painted, so not sure my hand and footprint idea will work, but it is beautiful and the guy has done a good deal for me even though it's a bit more than I was looking to spend - just need to arrange delivery now!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 18/03/2012 17:45

Kayzr - meant to say in my post above, I had a quiet baby yesterday; much less movement than normal and I was very conscious of it. This morning, the little sod has been hammering me incessantly since I got up! Assume he must have shifted position too but if he hadn't upped the activity today, I'd have been thinking of going in for some monitoring too.

CathFin · 18/03/2012 19:42

Happy Mothers day all!

Mine is also swiveling around quite a bit - definitely a lot more kicks today and transverse at one point as it was either side of my abdomen but its getting bigger and the prodding is a lot higher up the bump.

Antibiotics are disappointingly not working so far so spent most of today in bed making the most of Mothers Day and not feeling stressed about everything that needs doing.

SpecialJK · 19/03/2012 08:54

Morning all. What a gorgeous day! I hope all the mummies out there had a lovely mother's day.

kayzr glad everything was ok with LO.

smallwonder have a lovely holiday! Wish I could take some days off Envy

Looking forward to a much quieter week off work. I've also discovered a new addiction... ebay. In the last week I've sold about £200 of stuff. all of which I'm using to then buy things for bump. I've decided to get the Gingerbread range of stuff to decorate the nursery as it's gender neutral, but not beige.

First NCT antenatal tomorrow night, quite excited by that, as makes it seem all the more closer. and 11 weeks of work left.... definitely countdown now.

Hope everyone has a lovely, little constant kicks, day x
