Gosh Jen do you think we could all borrow your DH on a sort of rotation basis?

jenfraggle · 22/02/2012 19:03

I'm sure he won't mind Biscuits just let *Dream catch up on some sleep for a bit first and I need him back in May :)

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 22/02/2012 19:17

Sorry for vanishing - my boss appeared and sat down behind me and settled in for a good blether, most inconsiderately, so I had to hide MN and look innocent. Thank you all for your messages of support, but it was most definitely BH. I counted them every 3 minutes for a good half hour, got up to go to the toilet while wondering what to do and to check for any mucus plug/show and when I got back to my desk they'd stopped. Very sorry for the false alarm. Jen, I really wish I had had a sneeze labour and was cuddling Bean right now! Still, she is only 34+5 still, so she'd probably have wound up in SCBU on a ventilator, so I suppose it's good that she stayed put.

Glad everything's okay Too, glad the discomfort has gone!

pommedechocolat · 22/02/2012 19:26

Hello Too - yes think it's probably best she stays in for a bit longer. Glad all is good!

I have uploaded some more photos - I think bump may have dropped since 35 weeks? It's definitely bigger but not much bigger than with dd1 I don't think?

Sorry for mememe :)

Have a good night biscuits!

I'll be watching OBEM after Daddy Daycare. Somehow it makes me more excited about birth than anything I think. I concede I may be strange :)

Biscuitsandtea · 22/02/2012 19:26

Sounds like a plan Jen. I agree that dieting the Dream sleep situation out first is the priority and then perhaps he could tour round as the babies are born? Like a sort of miracle worker?

Too I'm glad you're ok and they were def BHs but be careful - remember those that you couldn't feel Confused. That bean will come when she's ready and it really isn't long until your CS date now Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 22/02/2012 19:28

dieting? Errrr not what I meant at all!! Sorting the Dream sleep situation!!!!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 22/02/2012 20:05

There's a woman on my pg-post-stillbirth thread who is going in for induction on Feb 29th. I was a bit Hmm at the date - not sure I'd be too happy with that! Also, one of my friends at work was induced with her second child on Feb 28th in a leap year and when she asked for a later date the consultant refused, so she was determined to have the baby before midnight (she did!).

I think the BH were caused by overheating at work - the canteen was really hot and although I went outside to try to cool off after lunch I didn't really manage to, despite having no coat on in February in Scotland.

I am the first of my friends to start having kids, and only one of DH's friends has had a baby, although he's 4 years older than me. So I feel very young to be pg - and every one else seems to think so too! My little brother was born when I was 18 and my twin and I got some v funny looks when we took him out in the pram. I also look very young for my age, because I am short and round-faced, so I've had some strange looks too. I still get ID'd buying drink in the supermarket unless DH is with me.

Scream, I think tonight's OBEM features someone pg again after a stillbirth. I shall be watching but fully expect to be a sodden wreck by 10 o'clock! That's if the TV would decide to cooperate - it's currently having problems with the signal and cutting in and out.

The sausage was hidden here for the first time in weeks the night before last. Blush DH is conscious that a gentleman does not bother his wife to fulfill marital duties until a) she's stopped bleeding, b) the CS scar has healed up and c) she wants to, hence the desperation to get one last shag in.

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 22/02/2012 20:28

You can probably guess by my other thread that there will be zero sausage hiding here for a while.... Blush

Glad it's calmed down a bit for you too. It is awfy mild here today I have to say. We've got the air con on in this stuffy lab.

musicalmrs · 22/02/2012 20:43

Too, glad the discomfort's stopped now!

Pomme, lovely bump pictures! I think your bump has dropped a bit too.

Jen, my DH had a similar problem until a couple of weeks ago! But now LO is very good at behaving when he comes near me with hands. In fact he's said goodnight to both me and baby for the last two weeks, and has always got kicks and wriggles out of LO :) very sweet!

Scream and Too, aren't people so rude with the assuming things! I can sympathise with the IDing - picked up something in Matalan last year and was told that I couldn't buy it as I was too young to have a Matalan card (16!!). Too, I'm also the first of my friends to have children - and the first in my family. Bad for hand me downs, but good in terms of getting spoilt rotten by all our friends/family!

I will be watching OBEM tonight - can't wait! Will bring some much-needed cheer into this boring evening of lesson plans. And most likely floods of tears. Very glad DH will be at the gym.

musicalmrs · 22/02/2012 20:46

Ooh, one quick thing - over the last couple of days I've found myself to be almost constantly hungry! Is this a normal third trimester thing? Maybe I've not upped my calorie intake enough...

Toast and hot chocolate required to see me through OBEM I think...!

jenfraggle · 22/02/2012 20:54

I haven't had the constant hunger musical and I think I'm only a week behind you 27+3 today. I have only put on 3lb in total though so maybe I should be more hungry. I'm not starving myself or dieting in any way, I just don't seem to have put on the weight. Wish I was like that when I was younger and then maybe I wouldn't be a size 20!

DreamingOfPeace · 22/02/2012 21:44

pomme, lovely bump, you are clearly not suffering from pregnant bum and thighs either! I think you're quite a bit bigger than with dd1- or is it just me?!

NinjaChipmunk · 22/02/2012 22:17

wants i am an old fogey like you, i'm 37, will turn 38 shortly after bean arrives.
Am shattered, rl is v busy this week so apologies if i don't get on much. Think i may head to bed, nighty night.

pommedechocolat · 22/02/2012 22:18

I'm still undecided dream! My photos are a bit rubbish for comparing I think.
Obem did make me weep a bit tonight. I think maybe the hairdressers' mother might have been better not being at the birth though. Dh now terrified again!

DreamingOfPeace · 22/02/2012 22:42

I would rather have a CS than forceps, any day of the week. Barbaric...

scarletfingernail · 22/02/2012 22:49

I thought that about OBEM too pomme, poor lady Sad. The baby boy's forcep injuries were like my DS's, although the OBEM one looked like he'd been injured just on the one side. My poor DS looked like he'd been beaten up, and the red rings turned dry and scabby a few days later. He looked awful bless him Sad

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 07:41

When the babies are that high why don't they do a CS?! Even I'm getting cynical and wondering if its to keep cs numbers down from a cost point of view now... I will go to CS instead, even if I've had one vb to avoid that :-(

On a different note, we have built one of our cosatto hogarth cotbeds scream, I'm very pleased with it. Drop side so much better than on dd's mamas and papas Jasmine cot.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 08:42

Pssst! biscuits, I'm feeding dd chocco hoops, Asda's equivalent of weetos for the third or fourth day in a row... Maybe the highest sugar cereal on the market, no nutritional value...

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/02/2012 08:54

That's exactly what I was shouting thinking, Dream! They said the baby was very high and not descending at all, so why not go straight to CS? That poor little baby with the forceps marks across its eye. Scarlet, your poor DS having those too. I was also shocked that they sent the first woman home after she was all geared up for an ELCS - and appalled that she then had bleeding and wound up having the EMCS instead. I would have been begging to have the ELCS and refusing to be sent home.

Musical, I'm also the first in my family to have kids but I expected that, being the oldest of my generation (by 3 minutes. My sister's not gearing up for kids any time soon, though!). DH's brother and SIL have kids, though, so we've had lots of hand me downs from them - car seat and heaps of really expensive baby clothes like Chloe cardigans. These will go nicely with Bean's normal outfit of Tesco and Primark. Grin

I started the 3rd trimester really hungry, but it's eased off a bit now. I can't eat so much in one go at the moment, probably because Bean makes me feel fuller.

I have called in sick today after more BH during OBEM and a dodgy tummy this morning. I couldn't face the discomfort of yesterday, and besides, I have a MW appt at 3.30 so it would have been a short day anyway. The MW can reassure me about the BH! They still don't feel like cx, though.

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/02/2012 08:55

Mmm, chocco hoops! Why don't I have any?

OP posts:
pommedechocolat · 23/02/2012 09:06

Too - I think that's sensible to call in sick today. Wow on chloe clothes! We had some Dior baby shoes from an Italian friend. DD never wore them but loves playing with them!

I had a dodgy tummy this am which made me a bit excited as it can be a sign but I do remember that loose movements happened for a while before dd was born so maybe not an urgent sign :)

I also thought the ELCS woman should have protested a bit more about being sent home - especially given her history.

Dream - DD had a nutrigrain bar for brekkie which is probably less nutritious than chocco hoops!

Scarlet - DD had a huge cut (ripped off first layer of skin nothing deep) the entire width of her head from a failed ventouse when she was born. She also developed little lumps in her cheeks which the mw decided was forceps damage as it was where they normally get bruises. It feels so sad to see them all bashed up doesn't it? Dd wore a hat at all times for ages :)

PopcornMouse · 23/02/2012 09:21

I am constantly ravenously hungry but I'm only 7 1/2 weeks Blush I have gained 1lb but I think it's all gone to my (.)(.) as I've gone up a bra size already :(

Good idea to stay off work, too - very sensible. Good luck with the mw :)

Thyroid bloods came back yesterday at 1.4 TSH which is really great, and a massive weight off my mind - they're going to test again in a few weeks.

I have booked tickets for the theatre when, all being well, I will be 36 1/2 weeks. Is that terribly unrealistic? Confused I didn't realise til afterwards Blush

PopcornMouse · 23/02/2012 09:30

It's really sweet that you met DH so young musical :)

purple it is a bit crap when everyone assumes you're too young to be married! (I get that too, and I'm really not that young anymore Hmm )

I'm avoiding OBEM like the plague. I figure, I'm updiffed now, the last thing I need is to scare myself over labour :o

jaggythistle · 23/02/2012 09:35

not watched obem yet as sensibly (for a change) went pretty much straight to bed after work. DS just looked a red faced and v flaky when he was born as he was 'overcooked'. looking at photos he did have a scratch or cut above his nose, no idea what that was from. he had a bit of a conehead too from being wedged against my cervix for so long!

I'm starting to feel properly heavy and fat now. i feel all throbby and puffy legged when i get in from work! have been trying to elevate my feet at night so i feel better by morning. 5 and a bit weeks of work left...

dream after DS teething and cold recently, almost every meal had to involve cheerios in some way. he asks for them all the time. he's still not back to proper meals yet really. plenty of pasta and rice, but mostly accompanied by cheese and raisins and cheerios stuff. we have a freezer full of his usual wee portions of curry, Bolognese etc. toddlers eh!
brooking for sneeze births or timely cs as required for all imminent babies...
