Flickstar · 19/06/2012 14:37

Shock pixie a lady at work just said to me 'you look so pregnant in your face' how rude is that?! I asked her if she meant that I was fat and she said 'no, just puffy but not in a bad way' as if you can be puffy in a good way?!

zippys · 19/06/2012 16:16

Hello ladies, just wanted to pop my head in and give you my good news, we got our BFP just over a week ago from ICSI (after being told odds of sucess low), had my fist scan this morning and we got to see little beans heartbeat. After three year and our m/c I cant tell you the emotions when we saw that little flicker on the screen. Its still early days (6 weeks today) but trying to stay positive Grin . Still on lots of injections to try to prevent m/c but worth the pain a million times over.

Flickstar · 19/06/2012 17:14

zippys!!!! Wonderful news. So absolutely thrilled for you and your DH! Please stick around here and we can hold your hand through the wobbly times. xxxx

Wow zippys that's absolutely wonderful news. I hope you have a happy and healthy next 9 months.

zippys · 20/06/2012 08:23

Thank you - have to admit welled up at the lovely comments. It feels a little unreal at the moment and still very anxious and worried but trying to relax somewhat. The morning sickness is letting me bean is still in there. Got another scan next week at 7 weeks and then I am released back to the NHS (we had to have private treatment as no NHS IVF in our area) to wait for 12 week scan.

Flick cant believe you are next - and I am sure that women is weird!!

Flickstar · 20/06/2012 11:24

Still so pleased for you zippys! What day is your scan next week?

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 20/06/2012 16:46

Thank you all so much for the lovely messages Grin
We actually ended up leaving hospital today (Wed) - we were offered an extra night because Harriet needed observation after swallowing muconium (sp?) during delivery, and my sore bits needing a bit of attention. It was nice to be looked after for another day & night. We also had a long tutorial from a student midwife on breastfeeding - tip: if they ask you if you want a student at your ante-natal appts & labour, say yes! You get one-to-one attention Wink

I'll take a look at the PN thread & put my birth story there, then it's optional!

How much more good news can one thread take! Congratulations zippys, what wonderful news for you, really hope the next few weeks go smoothly & quickly for you & your little bean Smile

Flick, on the home strait now Wink hope you're taking care of yourself & getting everything organised. Smile

pixiestix · 20/06/2012 20:10

Ohhhhhhhh, congratulations! Smile Smile Smile

Link to postnatal thread for Late - its really quiet over there as we have all decamped to FB but people will come over if they know there's a good birth story to be read! Grin

PearlyFish · 21/06/2012 23:00

Congratulations Late and welcome to the world little Harriet! :)

I'll be keeping an eye out for the birth story so thanks for the link Pixie

MCT76 · 25/06/2012 08:22

Congratulations zippys! It's lovely to see you on this side of the fence and I hope you're feeling well and managing to keep your worries at bay.

How are you feeling Flick? Not long now...you must be counting the days!

Late: How are you enjoying your first days of motherhood? Are you getting any sleep? Hope your "sore bits" are on the mend! Grin

I finally told my parents last weekend via Skype. Me and DH said we had something to show them and put the pictures from the scan in front of the camera. It took them about a minute to figure out what it was and then, as expected, my Dad smiled and said: "Great news!" and my mum broke down in tears and couldn't speak from the shock! After she'd composed herself, she stated she wanted to come for the birth to which I agreed. However, I told her it was still early days and I wanted to wait at least a couple of months before making any specific plans. They are coming over in 3 weeks' time for a fortnight anyway and I am not really looking forward to it as my mum is incredibly overprotective and overbearing at the best of times and now she's going to feel like she's got an excuse to tell me what to do at every given opportunity...I will have to lay some groundrules to avoid confrontation, I think.

On a different note altogether, I ended up in A&E on Saturday night for the silliest of reasons. We'd been to Cambridge for the day with my DH's family (a 7-hour round trip in the car) and I felt a bit numb when we got home as I'd been sitting in the same position for ages and only stopping briefly once to use the loo. As I was turning in bed to switch the light off, I seem to have trapped a nerve in my neck which in turn led to pains in my upper chest (by the diaphragm). It was so excruciatingly painful that I was struggling to breathe. DH said I went completely pale so he panicked and took me straight to hospital. As soon as they knew I was pregnant, they saw me straight away and after several tests, the doctor said it was probably just a trapped nerve and nothing to worry about. He was lovely, as were all the nurses, and offered to check the baby's heartbeat to reassure me. I had to wait for the midwives but it was worth the 4-hour stay just to hear that sound...spent all day in bed yesterday and I'm feeling much better now but not quite fully recovered so I guess I'll just have to grin and bear it until the pain goes away...joy!

Hope you've all had a good weekend! x
