Last update before birth announcement ;o)
Have called hospital and they want me to come for induction.
Would have prefer no induction, but not much choice. Hope I can still have my waterbirth.
Might have some slight contractions started, but really not sure I would call them contractions ...
Have been up and down the stairs for twice 5th floor.
Waiting for DP to come back from work and then on my way.
Will do some more steps until DP arrives.
You all take care and have a great weekend.
And don't hesitate to join me for a weekend baby if you feel like it.

LOOMER · 06/01/2006 14:49

Ooooooo Maman, EXCITING! Shame about the induction, but really hope you get your waterbirth and that things go smoothly from here on in.

Lots and lots of luck to you, can't wait to see an announcement - your DP is fully briefed on how to post the news on Mumsnet, yes?

M2OAB - great to hear that babs is ready for the off position-wise... sorry to hear that your midwives are not inspiring confidence. Just keep pushing for what you want, and fingers crossed for the test results coming back quickly.

Lis - hope the CTG goes well, at least you get to hear that lovely reassuring sound of the heartbeat chugging away! One of my books says that since scalp monitoring has to pass through cervix, it is only possible once dilation has reached 1 or 2 cms, and membranes have ruptured. HTH.

Right, going to finish my book now with a nice cup of peppermint tea.

Mum2OneAndBump · 06/01/2006 14:50

Firstly Maman2006 - ooh how exciting i can not wait to here all about it. Goodluck, try & relax as much as you can

Lis, Hope your CTC monitoring went ok, thanks for the reply, your not going mad i am in surrey but not at either of your hospitals i am at St Peters, always have found them rubbish even when my ds had suspected menegitis they were rubbish so we got moved over to royal surrey, then onto frimley park as royal surrey had no beds. Frimley is a nice hospital & they were very nice there.

The only hope i have is that when i had my Ds at St Peters Hospital i was very very pleased with the care i recieved through my labour & the midwives on the labour ward were very very nice so i was happy with that. On the other hand when i got moved down to the ward after having ds i was back to moody staff that could not be bothered, think thats why my breast feeding never worked as no one was willing to help me i cried the morning after i had given birth & begged dp to get me home, i was lucky as i was allowed out which was a huge relief!

Anyway as you have said SK i have learn't to just smile but sometimes it makes you feel a bit sad & down as you just want someone to talk to & understand you when going through this, its a very precious & scary time, but i will be fine i have MN to come & fire all my questions at you have all been a great help to me so thank you.

Sending lots of contraction vibes to everyone, especially those of you who are late you must of had enough now by now i know i had when ds was 10 days late, god is there hope i can get this baby out early? I do hope so

Eshay · 06/01/2006 15:00

Hi girls,

Nothing has happened here either. It's so exciting to read about Maman's imminent arrival. If you're still here, I was induced for DS and they would have let me use the pool if I had made some acceptable progress but I never did. So being induced does not always rule out using the pool. Let's hope you get to have what you like.

No ohter news here. DS is in bed so I'd better get off the computer and take a wee nap myself before he wakes up. Catch ya later!

Mum2OneAndBump · 06/01/2006 15:11

I ment CTG monitoring lol

Just an update my bloods from hospital are all ok so now all i need is the ones which test for the Bile Salt in birmingham!

sweetkitty · 06/01/2006 15:43

Best of luck Maman don't know about being induced and using a pool, quite fancied the pool last time but when the time came couldn't get me off the bed nevermind near a pool. Had a good birth though so don't despair too much if they don't let you use it.

Just had shower and rubbed some more clary sage on bump. Also been moaning on the phone to my mate who's due 2 days after me. She's the same as the rest of us, bored, fed up, desperate to get the baby out, she went 2 weeks over last time and had to be induced and she so doesn't want that this time.

Am going to try sex tonight, I'm getting that desperate! Got all my drugs apart from the Morphine which they have to order in especially!

BBWBabeLisa · 06/01/2006 15:46

Just got back from CTG monitoring and all's fine.
Am so excited to read Maman's post. Sending out positive thoughts and hoping all goes well for her and wee one.
Thanks for the info on scalp monitoring Loomer. That's put my mind at rest a wee bit as 1-2cm isn't too long to wait to be able to start monitoring her. I was worried I'd have to be really far dilated before they could attach it.
Gonna get DH to take some piccies of me later today as I have no pregnancy pics and therefore no way to remember how big bump was. Will post them on yahoo when done.
Must remember to show him how to post birth announcement on MN in preparation for next week!

Lis x

Rach69 · 06/01/2006 16:23

Ooh news and action how exciting!

Lots of luck Maman - I hope it goes well and you don't have to wait 2 days for contractions like I did with ds1 when my waters went (used every one of my maternity pads and ended up on a towel!)

Lyra - could be a good omen with dd's af (is it her menarche? that must mean something!) I used to synchronise with a girl in my office and girls I shared a house with too.

Sweetkitty - right there with you on waiting till the head's hanging out! I'll believe it when I see it...

Mak - good news, you are sounding ready!

Mum21 - good news too, IME community mws are lovely and hospital ones vile! why is that?

Lisa - sympathies with the CTG, when I had dd she was continuously monitored due to her position and the belts just wouldn't stay on so I had a mw hold a monitor against me for the whole labour - left a huge crater in me! They couldn't use a scalp monitor because she was face first (although they did try to get a bit - poor her) this will mean they have to break your waters asap though which may make things intense quickly and you will be pretty much flat on your back for the whole time too - have one of those nice epidurals! I feel like I could do with one now for my aching bod!

iris66 · 06/01/2006 17:09

Coo - it's been a busy day on here!! Sounds like we're all just sooo ready now. I do hope it's a case of once 1 goes, we all do!! (though I'll just wait now until DD is safely home from Buxton on Mon if that's ok!)

Good Luck Maman!! - must be well on the way now - I can't wait for the announcement!

My BH's stopped completely & LO decided to have a day of aerobics instead - despite my going for a tromp round town with DH! We found the most adorable little snow suit in TKMAX for a tenner (realised that DS had no outdoor clothing!) it looks like it's made of pale blue sheepskin (but isn't) and has detatchable booties & gloves. Am thrilled to bits and it's washed up a treat too! Plus, my sling (aka 5m of chocolate brown crepey fabric with a posh label on it) arrived this morning so I've been having a play with that too

SK - I noted your dislike of clary sage and agree wholeheartedly. Decided not to buy any in the end (isn't it expensive!! flippin' £7 for a tiny weeny bottle!!) but had a few good, if not nauseating, sniffs in the shop.

Lyra - your thread about the dogs/labour is really interesting - Millie's become much more fussy round me lately & keeps resting her head on my bump. I'm sure she knows LO's in there.
Good news about your DDs af too!!! DD & I were synchronised so that hers started when I ovulated (poor DH only had a few days per month when neither of us were hormonal!) I do hope it'll get you going

I'm feeling really tired & dopey this evening so am going to have a nap now. We may be going to visit DH's mum tomorrow so won't be around if we do. Have lovely weekends all - bye for now

Rach69 · 06/01/2006 18:07

Just reading the thread again - Mum21 - I think she probably means aqueous cream (I used to put it on my eczema) it's v cheap water based emollient cream moisturiser.

GeorgiePorgieCHRISTMASpuddinga · 06/01/2006 19:27

Hello hello hello. I'm back on line. .

Good grief I've missed you guys.

Iris has been a saint and kepot me posted via text. Will catch up on the thread in a min, but just wanted to say hello first.

Nothing happening with me. Spent 4 hours in hospital this morning as though waters had broken... was getting contractions etc etc. Turns out that I've got a weak bladder and had wet myself . Cripes, the things we have to go thru.

Like Iris I've had 3 nights of heavy duty BH. Really painful. But when midwife checked me this morning she said I wasn't even dialated. My cervix is officially made out of concrete . After all the stress of getting the damn stitch in and out, looks likie I didn't need it after all.

Have joined you all on pineapple front. Have just juiced and drunk an entire pineapple....feeling a bit sick now to be honest. Have had clary sage baths. Tried to eat curry but thought of it turned my stomache, so ened up with chile con carne.....bad, bad mistake . Up all night with MONSTER acid reflux and then bad case of the trots the next day .

OK, am going to read what's been happening to you all.

Anyone got link to yahoo so I can see Chuffed's pics?

Hi to all the newbies. Lovely to have you on this thread. Good luck to Maman2006. Can't wait to hear your good news.

It's good to be back girls . Let's hope that this is like a domino effect....one starts and the others follow.

G xx

PS - must change my log in name!

Tickle · 06/01/2006 19:45

nice to see you back Georgie Poor you on the moisture front! Maybe the stitch just scared your cervix rigid so it would behave itself
And I hope Maman is doing ok
Have officially given up on watching for signs of labour - just bored now...
House is pretty clean tho

GeorginaP · 06/01/2006 20:02

OK, have caught up with what everyone has been up to.

Seems as if we've got a bunch of stubborn babes who don't want to come out, but are quite prepared to give us maximum pain in the meantime . They are just little teases aren't they....she says thru gritted teeth as another lovely BH kicks in.

I never have got the concept of patience. As New Yorker's say..... WAIT is a four letter word .

Oh, can someone tell me where the pressure points are on my feet to see if I can get DH to rub them and get this little Beany out before she gets too big.

Am off for glass on wine.

Oh, and kudos to those that have managed marital relations . Poor DH sh*t scared of coming near me. Don't tihnk he could 'raise a smile' if his life depended on it!!!!!!

G xx

sweetkitty · 06/01/2006 22:15

Welcome back Georgie

Have been doing the Clary Sage thing again tonight, one of the cats came over took a whiff of me and ran away! Says it all really. Apparently I cannot get the morphine until Monday not that I'm planning on using it, don't want sleepy baby that doesn't feed again. Have told MW to lie to me and say she's given me everything.

I think it must be the weather thats keeping these babies inside, when I was pregnant in July there were loads of earlies (me included ). Am giving up the pineapple after having the trots at 2am last night!

Iris - snowsuit sounds lovely, DD2 will have DD1's little pink ones.

Right off for an early night (not like that though well maybe)! take care all x

Rach69 · 06/01/2006 22:25

Goodnight Georgie, missed you too! mwah!

Hey and watch out - they told me it was wee with ds1 and I went home crestfallen, only to return a few hours later (thinking my bladder had exploded) with some fluid in a cup! Told the snotty registrar to stick his cottonbud in there to see if it turned black (to detect amniotic fluid) and lo and behold it did! Waters can trickle and then be sealed again by the baby's head engaging. It could be you next....

I can feel the killer BH, push down, push down!

Nice weekend ahead without kids but even ex-h is nagging me to get it out asap! Hope you all have good ones and more babies please!

Mak · 07/01/2006 06:32

Morning ladies
early morning for me. Have been awake since 4 with wave style contractions, just began to fall asleep again - and POP, my waters have gone.HOORAY .
DH is in a flat spin so I keep telling him to calm down.
I'll keep you posted.
TTFN

iris66 · 07/01/2006 06:46

Oh Wow Mak - - you'll have your little bundle by bedtime then!! fab!! All the very best hon

Only a v quick post from me as sorting DD out to go away today - up 1/2 the night with her in floods of tears due to an acute attack of nerves (mainly) plus a good dose of being fed up/crap social life/ always working etc etc. I felt so impotent & had a little cry myself at one point as there was nothing I could do to make everything right for her (though nor should I, really - teenagers eh!) Suffice to say she's bounced back this morning (apart from v v puffy eyes, poor kid)and is stuffing bacon butties as I type.

Hope the morning brings more waters breaking etc on the roll call!!

ps Welcome back Georgie!!! Seeee now you're back people are starting to pop!!!!

Rach69 · 07/01/2006 07:09

Great news Mak! Hope to hear from you soon.

Absolutely nothing here but bilious early morning vomiting as usual (sorry TMI!). Can't seem to sleep past 6am these days - this babe better not be an early riser!

Iris - your poor dd - just an attack of nerves I guess? Hope she has a fab trip. You sound like a great mum

sweetkitty · 07/01/2006 08:34

Morning all thought my waters had started leaking this morning but alas think it's just me being a bit incontinent!

Mak - that's great news hopefully you'll have a baby by this afternoon and Maman2006 too, it's all happening now, pass some of those contraction vibes over here.

Iris - aww your poor DD glad she is feeling better now, great what a good cry can do.

Can't wait for the birth announcements now

OP posts:
lyra41 · 07/01/2006 09:01

we were obviously all waiting for georgie to come back before we started. let's hope we're on a roll now. so excited for maman and mak, but a little bit too!

good to have you back georgie, missed ya!

i actually slept past 8am today!! amazing for me, but couldn't get to sleep for love nor money last nite, ended up getting up at 12:45am for cheese on toast and warm milk, and that with some fluffy chick lit seemed to do the trick.

sweetkit
my bladder is like yours i'm afraid. it was brilliant all thru pg, but in the past few weeks it has been a bit wayward! i staggered to the loo wen i woke up this am, a little too late as it says in some toddler book about potty training, had to change pjs! and there was me thinking that all that bouncing on my birthing ball was toning my pelvic floor, oh well...

laters lovely girlies x

Tickle · 07/01/2006 11:01

Ditto on the bladder front here - starting to give up under all this pressure.

But signs that things should be on the move here at last... had a show this morning, so passing on instructions for dd1's school swimming trip to the mainland tomorrow to my mother - in the hope that dh & I will be busy elsewhere! No other signs at the mo, but didn't have contractions to speak of with ds, then it was all over in 2 hrs

Good luck Mak & Maman - hope to hear from you soon!
Iris - hope your dd has a fab weekend

see ya later xx

iris66 · 07/01/2006 11:36

waiting waiting...then people are popping all over the place!! fab news Tickle!!

Thanks all for your lovely thoughts re DD. I've just texted her loads of love and hugs for a fab time and am sure it will be! I think part of her nerves were that she was concerned that I'm going to have the baby while she's away & then she'd be the last to meet him. Have assured her that, if he does arrive, I wont allow any visitors until she gets back

at all the bladder stories!! (would say PMSL but I don't want to tempt fate!!!). LO doesn't seem to stay down long enough to cause me too many problems (yet!)so I've probably ages to go. Remember it well with DD though as I had the weakest pelvic floor in the world

Rach - at your vomming! thought it had gone now - poor you. It's not lasting all day is it?

Georgie - reflex points on the feet:
uterus - 1/2 way down diagonal line between ankle bone & heel tip (inside of foot)
Acupuncture/acupressure point Sp6 (tones the uterus) - 5-6 finger widths up the leg from the ankle bone (again, inside of leg)
Pituitary gland - centre of the "whirl" on the pad of your big toes.
Points are on both feet/legs. Give all a firm massage with your thumb (you can use your knuckle on the pituitary one) for at least a couple of minutes each. HTH

Anyone doing anything this w/e? (labouring aside!!)We've no plans. DH has just taken over from me doing some ironing (so he can watch the footie guilt free)& I'm just about to have a nap. Feel like I should be doing something but I really can't be bothered (thinly disguised laziness masquerading as "resting" )

Look forward to all the DH/DP announcements of the LOs arrivals!!

sweetkitty · 07/01/2006 11:57

Right that's it I'm getting very at all these waters breaking/shows, looks like we may have 3 babies on the way.

Tickle - great news about the show hope it all goes quick for you now, I suppose it will being no 4!

Got a bit emotional this morning after I thought my waters might be going but they haven't. I know I've still got a week to my due date but I just feel so lousy especially when things happen like I see DD falling and can't move fast enough to catch her as getting up is a nightmare. I'll be terrible if I go overdue.

Officially 39 weeks now so MWs go on call from today so unless I'm induced I'm having a homebirth

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 07/01/2006 11:58

Not doing anything much this weekend - off to look at double buggies (still not decided)!

OP posts:
GeorginaP · 07/01/2006 12:41

Hi there one and all

Really glad it's not just me thats wetting myself . Had another leak this morning. So ....sure I didn't do this with DD.

Yeee haaaa Tickle. Great news about the show. And yeee haaa to Mak about waters breaking. Could be the start of all of us getting going!

Any news from Maman?

SweetKit - am with you my love. V pleased for everyone, but a little miffed that Beany not making an appearence. Still got another week to go. My mum thinks that I'll go quickly when I do go..... which could be interesting because if DH at work, it'll take him an hour to get home!!!! Could be joining you in home birth after all. Not sure whether it's good or bad thing that I had carpets cleaned before Christmas

Rachey - how you feeling? Bit fed up I guess.

Had another 3 hours of horrible BH last night. Looks like it's set into a pattern now. Get them on and off all day and then for 3 hours at night. Grrrrrrr.

Iris - you sound like just the type of cool mum I wanted when I was a teenager. Your DD is so lucky to have you. Really hope that I can be as supportive of DD1 when she;s going thru trauma's of teenager-hood. You couldn't pay me enolugh to go thru my teenage years again. Yuk. Was flat chested, spotty, awkward.....not a good look! Thank god for make-up, decent shampoo and wonder bras

DD with her Dad this w/e. His new g'friend is Russian and they are celebrating Christmas this w/e. Apparently they do it two weeks atfer everyone else. Little bit of useless info for y'all.

DH and I are going to have quiet w/e. Few littler chores to do and then off to see Brokeback Mountain early evening and maybe a meal after. Tomorrow if weather less pants we'll go to Richmond Park and take a walk.

Am now employing reverse psychology on Beany. 'No, no, its OK, you stay in there for as long as you want my love. We're not excited about meeting you at all' .

Have also knocked pineapple and curry on the head as too painful with acid reflux and the trots .

OK, better get on with some bits and peices. Could be last free weekend that I have for the next 15 years.......

G xx
