Not sure about the Lucozade just saw someone mention on sweetkitty's other thread about drinking it!

Never heard of it myself but thought i might as well try it as getting very bored now!

Went to pick ds up from nursery & brought big bottle of Lucozade so am sitting here sipping it now will let you know.......

Stomach cramps seem to have stopped again, blimey this is getting boring.... no doubt we will all have our babys & then we will be moaning about lack of sleep etc, thats what we are here for though we love to moan.

Hope everyone is ok will update after i have seen midwife, feeling positive about seeing the midwife as its the really nice one today & not the witch so thats a good start

Mum2OneAndBump · 19/01/2006 13:17

Oh & if the Lucozade does something that will be a very hyper & active baby as it's an energy drink so i could live to regret this .......

barrelrider · 19/01/2006 15:29

Hi all

I've finally got a login for mumsnet, having skulked about reading this thread for the past week!!

I'm 40 + 1 today, due 18th Jan, don't know sex, 34, my first.

Totally fed up and hormonal for past week but all your messages have kept me going

Had first sweep today (had to beg the midwife as they usually wait until 41 weeks here). It was perfectly OK and didn't hurt a bit, although she said things don't feel ready for action. The baby is also only 2/5 engaged, and she thinks it's about 9 1/2 lb already.

So I know I sound mega negative but it's because I really really really can't wait to see the baby. My relationship with hubby is shot to bits at the moment - everything he does/doesn't do is annoying me! He won't help me with names, he's too stressed about work and not enough about this, he's putting on weight and complaining, he didn't organise paternity leave and now says might not be able to get much holiday when baby born. AAARRGGGHH!!

Promise I will be cheery tomorrow!! Just wanted to say hello and thanks for letting me read your messages

sweetkitty · 19/01/2006 15:39

hi barrelrider welcome to mumsnet a word of warning it is seriously addictive!

Welcome to the Due in Jan thread thinking of renaming it "get these babies out of us now" I'm 40+5 weeks with my second DD (darling daughter) I'm the one thats been doing all the moaning and whinging on here . It's good to read the messages on here as it reminds you you are not the only one going through this.

I think my MW is coming today and am going to ask her about a sweep, I'm not keen as I'm a bit of a wuss (which is mad considering I have already had one baby).

OP posts:
Eshay · 19/01/2006 16:08

Hi Barrelrider, welcome to our club. Nice to see a new face. My MW did my sweep this morning but did mention they normally wait till 41 weeks here too. I had mine done because I have a C-section booked for 41 weeks and would really rather not have to have it. So she obliged and did the sweep early. Not very pleasant, mine. Mind you, I was squirming before she had done anything

SK, have you had yours then? It might be just what you need. But don't get your hopes up too high as there's no guarantee.

Well, back to the boring task of proofreading my dad's poems. He's having some published and I'm the lucky one who gets to prepare the manuscript. He's mighty thrilled and asks me about my progress every day but I can't be bothered, really. I have other things on my mind.

iris66 · 19/01/2006 16:19

Hi all - just a v v brief post to say I'm home!! & I thought I'd be straight back after my appointment on Mon!!!!!! .
Dominic George was born at 0232 on Wed 18th Jan weighing 8lbs 2oz after induction due to high BP & partial waters going. 2 drips & constant monitoring meant no labouring in water - didn't get round to hypnotherapy either so just had G&A. MW totally fab & made sure I didn't tear. will post details when I can.

BIG contracting vibes to those of you still waiting & congratulations to those who aren't.

hugs to you all & will read up properly & post soon. iris x

sweetkitty · 19/01/2006 16:40

ooooooooooo was so excited to see you had posted Iris, CONGRATULATIONS welcome to Dominic George, hope you are both doing well!

Have you heard anything from Rach?

MW didn't turn up here so she's probably coming tomorrow now. Unless I have to phone her tonight that is

NotAcow · 19/01/2006 19:38

hello all - just a quickie as my mums taken the boys up for their bath and i should go and help a bit i spose!

wanted to say welcome to barelrider and dont worry about moaning - all of us (fewer everyday!) who are 'left' still waiting are in the same boat and moaning about it to each other, so youre more than welcome to join us!

lucozade? hmmm. have given up on all these remedies as i cant take the disapointment when they dont work. the only one with any basis in science anyway is the natural prostoglandin thing... can i be bothered? mostly no TBH!

well done Iris! congratulations and celebrations and soo glad it all went so well, considering the difficulties esp. welcome to the new little man too

SK, M2OAB and Eshay - hope the 'sweeps' work. am thinking of asking my mum to do one on me! i had a bohemian upbringing and all that, but it is still a bit wierd to have your mum doing stuff like that, when i think about it. mind you, no wierder than having a total stranger do it i spose!

good luck and labour vibes (vibes?? cant think of a less 60's word for it, im afraid ) to all those who need 'em, and lovely cuddly well done vibes to those who have done the deed and finally have their LO's in their arms

sweetkitty · 19/01/2006 20:46

Evening all just wanted to say goodnight and contraction wishes to all of us still waiting!

Hi peeps - still not caught up but phone now charged & so have message from Rachey!!!

"Finn Alexander is here! 10lb 4oz emergency c/sect in the end born at 0237 18 Jan. Spent 10 hrs on drip then 4 hrs in labour but couldn't push him out. Had failed ventouse too & he became distressed. pix to follow."

Sorry it's late girls (and Rach!!) CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Dominic hasn't let me sleep yet and couldn't sleep mon night at all so am slightly (!?!) in fairy land. Thank goodness he can get lots of daddy cuddles too now Hopefully catch up properly next time & get photos on yahoo. xx

sweetkitty · 19/01/2006 21:11

Aww Many thanks for letting us know Iris I know what those first few sleep deprived days are like, you are so tired but on such a high too, hope you manage to get a few hours tonight. So Finn and Dominic were born 5 minutes apart on Wednesday morning

Please pass on my congratulations to Rach wow what a size (hope this isn't a recurring theme now for January babies) I hope Rach is OK and resting up too.

Cannot wait for all the gory details and pictures now. Will update the stats tomorrow now v v v excited!!!

Tickle · 19/01/2006 21:18

well done iris & rachey & welcome to the boys!!!

Eshay · 19/01/2006 22:35

Hi girls,

I just logged on to say i think my sweep might have worked! I've been having cramps all evening and DH has gone to pick up his mum so I have some peace of mind and feel we can go to Hospital when I want. They're pretty irregular still but pretty painful so i do think it won't be long, not until next week anyway, so I might miss out on my C-section. Yippee!

Such great news about Rachey's baby. What a weight! And here I am worried that mine is going to be over 9 lbs... Silly me. Congrats Rachey and well done. hope you recover quickly!

Well, if nothing happens in the night I'll be back to report so. Have a good night all.

Mum2OneAndBump · 19/01/2006 23:18

Hi all just a quickie from me,

Congratulations to Iris & rachey & welcome to your babys

Eshay things are looking promising!

Well had mw at 3pm had high blood pressure & slight protein in urine, so had to go to the labour ward tonight at 5pm only just got in!
Been checked blood pressure came down & only trace in urine, been sent home with nice jug & bottle to collect every wee in !

I have also been on a monitor & have been having small contractions, its all mostly in my back & lower stomach but they bloody hurt! They are still quite far apart though & not lating long enough, i have come home to sleep but can not see me being here tomorrow

Goodluck all & i hope everyone is ok. xx

Mum2OneAndBump · 20/01/2006 01:23

Ok can't sleep pains every 7 mins but lasting about 40 seconds, god i am shattered been awake since 6.30am

sweetkitty · 20/01/2006 07:39

Morning firstly nothing happening here.

Eshay and M2OAB - wow things are looking really good for you both now, will keep everything crossed today for you both.

I don't think I am going to have this baby well ever but I don't think I am going to get to have a homebirth. Really don't fancy an induction but I suppose it would be for the best. Will phone MW and ask her to come and do a sweep for me later if she can. Think with this cold/cough and worrying about who is going to look after DD has really gotten to me today. Sorry to be moaning again, why do I start every day in tears!!

OP posts:
lyra41 · 20/01/2006 08:09

morining sweetkitty

it won't be too long now, at least if it is induction, you'll know about when and where your baby will be born and you can get your mind round that instead of all this constant waiting and discomfort.

feeling lots of sympathy for you hon, even with my kids being ill and me having mastitis, i'd rather be this side of the birth, i know the waiting in pain is rotten.
IT WONT BE LONG NOW!
What happened to hunker btw? i think i've missed any announcement. i heard she went into labour, but nothing else. do yo know her news yet?

M21AB
hope things are moving along smoothly in labour now, and you don't have the long drawn out pre-labour i had, my contractions stayed at 7 mins apart till i got to transition!

Eshay
Yay at your signs of labour! Good luck and keep us posted if you can!

Good night last night, but still the hour and a half spent feeding in the middle somewhere, but i just listen to the radio or a story tape and doze, so it's not so bad. mastitis seems to be clearing up thank God, belladonna seems to be a brilliant remedy for that.

see y'all later x

sweetkitty · 20/01/2006 08:16

Hi Lyra sorry for being such a misery just so down in the dumps today feel like I am never going to have the baby. If I do have to go in for an induction DP won't get to see DD2 being born as he will need to look after DD1. I just never thought I would be looking at an induction having had such a quick and early labour with DD, I do have another week and a few days to wait though (I'm going to be even worse next week).

So glad your mastitis is clearing up now, thankfully never had it myself last time, sore nipples was bad enough.

Hunker went into hospital on Weds morning but I think she was being kept in because of the GD, she had the baby Weds afternoon but wants to do the birth announcement herself, hopefully she will be able to get on today as I think we are all dying to know what flavour she had too and how it went for her.

M2OAB and Eshay - sending you loads of contraction vibes!

Think I will update our stats thread now

OP posts:
Chuffed · 20/01/2006 09:14

Sorry I haven't been on for so long. Hope it is soon for you SK it must be awful waiting.
Have just got out of hospital went in on Monday morning after blood tests on Sunday revealed I may have a blood clot on my lungs as I had chest tightness.
It was an infection of the uterus and looks like it might be clearing up now thank goodness.
Having feeding problems with ds, is really lazy on the breast and is now 'failing to thrive' as he hasn't put on enough weight and I am having to do 20mins only then give him as much formula or expressed milk as he will take and as I don't seem to have any luck with expressing the continued bf looks pretty hopeless at the mo which is really getting me down as I have had so many complications that I really haven't had a chance to get going and establish bf.
Have a cranial osteopathy appt on Wed so just have to get through the next 5 days and then hopefully it'll help him feed more efficiently.

sweetkitty · 20/01/2006 09:19

Aww Chuffed poor you and here is me moaning sounds like you have had a horrendous time. How are you feeling now?

My DD was a bit like your DS to start with as she had jaundice and wouldn't suck. I had to express for her too but I kept with it and kept giving her the breast before the EMB and she seemes to get the hang of it coupled with the phototherapy for her jaundice too. Stick with it keep trying him on the breast. Hope the cranial osteopathy works as well. Sounds like you are doing everything right though.

NotAcow · 20/01/2006 09:55

havnt caught up properly this morn yet, but good luck to Eshay and M2OAB

and big hugs to SK - hope you are feeling a little better by now... had a cry this morning myself so youre not the only cry baby round here!

try not to worry too much about all the things you cant help worrying about (stupid thing to say) and i really hope things start moving soon. even if it comes to an induction in the end, at least it'll all be over with soon and once you have LO at home this will all fade in memory

barrelrider · 20/01/2006 10:11

Morning everyone

Well how jealous am I - 2 of you due after me and sounds like you're in labour now!!! When I saw the mw yesterday she said my cervix wasn't 'favourable' yet. Masses of good luck to Eshay and Mum2one, sounding good

Have resigned myself to a Feb baby, psychologically that's more helpful. Am putting on weight due to comfort eating (cheese crisps, raspberry ripple ice cream???).. also anxious that baby is going to be huge!! I am getting totally obsessed with it, every time I see a mw now I ask how big they think it is: latest estimate was 9 and a half pounds but what if it's another 2 weeks?? Keep having dreams about the baby being born and walking immediately!! I know it's stupid but I'm scared the baby will be too big to be cute - that's really silly I know. Also I have incredibly insensitive family who keep going on about this big baby being sumo wrester/discus thrower etc and I'm sure they will have lots of fun if it is born large. Worse if it's a girl I suppose, seems to be more acceptable to have a big boy!!

Sorry to hear about your problems Chuffed, I don't know anything about any of them but it sounds like you're in good hands.
