Rach

good luck today, i hope they get it going asap so you can meet your little fella without delay. take it v easy afterwards, hope you've got lots of help. i'm still in my pjs and haven't been out of the house, and he was born 5 nights ago! but dh still thinks i'm doing too much. not getting much sleep, obviously, but i seem to be ok so far, i think because i'm having such a quiet unstimulating time. i MUST try to have a nap today though.

will be thinking of you Rach, and can't wait to hear your news. xxx

Morning everyone those with bumps and those with babies.

Nothing exciting to report here and to be honest don't really want to have the baby today. Feeling totally rotten with the cold, had worst nights sleep ever usual cold symptoms coupled with the SPD pain, the heartburn, the BHs, up 6 times for the loo I just feel so tired and horrid today. DD still got the cold as well. Most annoying is that because I gave no sympathy to DP when he had the cold recently (you know men and the cold and I lost it and said it's only a bloody cold) DP is not giving me any sympathy!! I could handle the cold but not when I'm due to have a baby any day now and have a cranky 18 mo. So at him today. Anyway thats my rant and feeling sorry for myself over with for the day.

Rach - best of luck for today I really hope your little man is born today, you have been in for the long haul and if anyone deserves to have their baby today it's you! Will be thinking of you and sending you some positive vibes.

Iris - so excited what's happening with you? Maybe you've had the baby by now?? I hope so too. Hopefully you'll be on to let us know later.

Stripeybumpsmum - nice to hear from you, hope everythings going well playing the waiting game liek the rest of us.

Hunker - I'm having a day off from our pact as don't fancy pushing a baby out with a head full of snot but if you want to have yours today go ahead I won't be cross (much)!

Eshay and M2OAB - morning hope you are both doing well!

Hope theres no one else I have forgotten, have a good day all will of course be checking back regularly for updates!

hunkermunker · 17/01/2006 12:26

Rachey, thinking of you and can't wait to hear from you about your little boy!

SK, what is it with us and coincidences?! I can't face labour today either as DS wasn't well (temp, bit sicky and teething molars possibly) in the night and I didn't get to sleep until 4am (yes, 4am - was awake again at 7am to go to hospital)! Was lying there having strong BHs and praying not to go into labour! Hope you feel better soon.

Iris - am hoping that no post from you today means you're in labour!

Saw arse of a consultant this morning who told me that gestational diabetes meant I couldn't have a waterbirth even if I go into labour naturally. Asked him (well, told him) to check this and he did and said rather sheepishly that it was OK. Asked him what could happen in the pool that wouldn't happen out of it - he couldn't answer me. Honestly - it is possible to get out of the pool, some consultants just want to manage each and every contraction, it seems!

I know there's no guarantee I'll have a waterbirth, but I don't want the chance taken away without very good reason!

Sooo, am booked for induction on Saturday (which actually means I'll be going in on Friday evening at 5pm). REALLY hoping it doesn't come to that though.

hunkermunker · 17/01/2006 12:27

Just to clarify - the consultant was an arse, I didn't see his arse

loomer · 17/01/2006 12:35

Hello lovely ladies all...

Trying to catch up with all the news, so much to read!

Rachey - best of luck with the section, sounds like you are going into it with a really positive attitude. It will be so fantastic to finally meet your little man, can't wait to hear the announcement.

Sending lots of labour vibes to all of you still awaiting precious bundles, esp. Hunkermunker and Sweetkitty (I really feel for you hun, I thought we were going to to be birthing at the same time...) hope things kick off properly for you both very soon.

Just been looking at all the new photos on Yahoo site - what a gorgeous selection of tiny ones we are producing eh? Such lovely photos, esp. of your two daughters Mak, just lovely! I've updated my folder now with some pics of Scarlett from over the weekend.

Just awaiting arrival of midwife at the moment, so that I can get out into town whilst it's still sunny. My milk came in yesterday, and am feeling a hell of a lot better for it now, no more bawling my eyes out every half an hour (tears of joy though, I hasten to add!).

Will keep checking in to see who pops next. Take it easy everyone (with bumps and without).

xxx

loomer · 17/01/2006 12:41

Oh god I am such a numpty - I totally forgot to say that we have finally decided on the name!!!

Scarlett Eve

HOW could I forget to mention that?!?! Perhaps I need to go and have a bit of a lie down!

hunkermunker · 17/01/2006 12:44

Gorgeous name, Loomer! Will have a peek at your pics later.

sweetkitty · 17/01/2006 12:55

hi HM know what you mean about consultants, what is it with them they seem obsessed to have you in strapped to a bed or having a c section just in case. Don't think they believe women are capable of birthing babies without their intervention. I didn't go to sleep until well after 12 and got up at 6 as couldn't get back to sleep must have got up about 40 times in the night too and it's really hard to go to the loo when you are in agony. Stick to your guns and have your waterbirth as you said you can actually get out the pool at any time.

At least the end is in sight for you if you are being induced on Saturday. If someone were to offer me an induction I don't know what I would do, half of me is like no I've fought everyone for this homebirth and I believe in my body's ability to get the baby out but I'm so sore and fed up right now just want her out of me!!

Right Hunker we will have the day off and tomorrow we will have our babies 18th Jan sounds good

Loomer - good to see you, didn't know you had named the baby, Scarlett is really pretty was on our short list too. Glad everythings going well with your little princess, theres a post natal thread now hopefully I'll be joining you all on it soon.

Nice babies vibes to Iris and Rach xxx

oops crossed posts Scarlett Eve are lovely names Loomer, don't worry about it your brain is scrambled with all those baby love hormones

Eshay · 17/01/2006 14:44

Hi ladies,

I have had a bit of a boring day. Not much to do and I don't really feel like doing anything either. Went for a walk but had to wee so it wasn't very long. It's only 2.40pm! Not sure what I'll do next. I have a list of things that need doing but I'm just not in the mood for anything - except eating maybe

Lovely name, Loomer!

No word from Tickle yet - i wonder if they are still keeping her in hospital. Hope not. That would be too long!

NotAcow · 17/01/2006 16:35

Oh blimey - a million posts to catch up on again...

Eshay - thanks, yes mum is MUCH better than the awful crap nanny. everyone here is soooo relieved she's gone, including the kids i think! and mum's feeling better already, so she's 'useful' again. i am lucky that she can come and stay for all this time, and visit at others too.used to want to live anywhere but england, but now i have kids am v glad of my family being accessible afterall!
LOL at your MIL - my dads the same. have finally introduced him to the mobile revolution and he isnt half funny about working it. bless. can fix absolutely anything on earth, but answer a mobile phone? oooh no.

iris - unfortunately the 'show' was a bit of a flop im afraid. was really only a v little bit of it, and theres been no action since, not even BH. head IS engaged, which cant be comfy for him (certainly isnt for me!) but other than that, no action at all. poo. so ill be here for the duration with you, dont worry!
oh i just read next post! you moo! cant believe your fore-waters have gone! you are def on the way, i'd say. gov guidelines say you have 72 hours to go into labour naturally BTW, but local policies vary so take advice, but know your rights too

Babelisa - ouch. hope youre feeling better soon, and the feeding gets better. i never could seem to express much, even when feeding was in full swing. just have to keep trying and trust that they do much better directly, when they get there. like Eshay says, the bath is a great place to 'practice' (for both of you. some babies get it right away, others need to learn the skill)BF'ing; all that soothing warm water and skin to skin contact.

hi george - good to hear you are well, if a little sore

iris - dont be embarassed, i'd get excited too if waters had gone... hope all is well

Rach - oh good luck honey - like you say, better an elective cs than an awful labour and emergency cs. best of luck, and at least the end is in sight eh??

Stripeybump- hope u are feeling better soon, cant be long now, and the hormones etc will calm down then. hang in there, you'll be fine, and you'll have LO in your arms B4 you know it

Lyra - SLEEP! you know it makes sense! (i never could on cue either, so i know how it is, but being overtired really is the pits so do try)

HM - pmsl at seeing your consultants arse good luck with the water, hope it happens for you.

Loomer - Scarlett Eve; lovely name. she'll be some sort of literary or showbiz/theatre darling no doubt

right, am off to spend a moment attending to my family who all think ive been sucked into the PC screen forever!!

best baby/feeding vibes to one and all... catch you later xxx

Mumfun · 17/01/2006 18:51

Sorry cant deal with all these posts.

Just to say all the best to Rachey - hope all goes well.

COngrats to all those whove got thsir gorgeous babes.

No signs here at all - well dischuffed. Saw midwife today and was really good with me - booked me into hospital appointment for next week to discuss what to do if no arrival. Confirmed baby is well big but also has shifted a bit to the side and not back to back today - hooray.

Reflexology has not worked for me so well this time so far - I did react this week but not enough yet, Different baby - different reaction (Having said this might make baby decide to go overnight)

So still waiting here - doing a lot of cooking nice food and cakes as there will be none afterwards!

Lets hope the vibes work soon and babes decide to make their appearance pronto.

Take care all

sweetkitty · 17/01/2006 20:50

Evening all just checking in to see if there was any news on Iris and Rach (or anyone else) I suppose no news is good news and they are too busy with their little new babies.

Nothing much happening here just coughing my insides out, feel like I have to hold myself in when I cough or everything is going to fall out my hoo haa, what a lovely thought. Regular MW brought another on call MW to meet me tonight, very nice lady seems to think I am going to go anytime soon (although think she was saying that to make me feel better).

notacow - glad your mum is feeling better and is helping you out. Sometimes I wish I had someone to take DD away so I could have a nap for a few hours. Also feel really guilty as I'm not able to do as much with her as I would like.

Hi Mumfun good to see you too

Well I'm off for an early night tonight (no not one of those have given up on that for now) need some sleep.

Take care and sending loads of contraction vobes our way!

Hiya girls

i have mastitis now, so feeling a bit grot. pumping and trying to clear the blockage, also taking a homeopathic remedy, hope it's soon gone.

one thing about being pg, they're so much easier to feed there!

hunkermunker · 17/01/2006 22:46

Oh, Lyra, poor you. Have you got antibiotics? Post on the breastfeeding topic on here - lots of support there. Hope you're over it very soon.

DS awake just now very, very upset - not in for a restful night tonight either, I don't think. Oh, and he'd been doing so well with his sleep!

Tickle · 18/01/2006 08:17

Hello all - just trying to catch up on a lot of posts!!

Sorry it's been a bit quiet here, but I have been trying to take it easy. I'll post details another time on birth announcements - still trying to stay in bed a lot & resist helping out in the house.

DH gave a rundown I can see, bless him, so you know we have our little lad (8lbs 6oz BTW). Still not 100% on the name... DH & I were pretty settled on Theo before he was born, but now I am keen on Ingo - so we have to get to know him a bit better

Just wanted to say hello, & thanks for all the good wishes. Congrats to all who have popped, and sympathies to those still waiting

Will put a pic on yahoo,
see you later
T xx

sweetkitty · 18/01/2006 09:10

Morning all anyone had a baby in the night?
Nothing as usual here

Tickle - great to see you don't worry about not posting get loads of rest I know how hard it is just to lie there, I'm not a lie there type of person but sometimes you have to force yourself, not easy with 4 kids I suspect! Many congratulations again on your little man, the birth story sounds traumatic but you got there in the end and thats all that matters. Love both names maybe Theo a bit better .

HM - right you up to have a baby today then? today would be very good day for me SIL goes away on business tomorrow and DP is in Edinburgh (about an hour away) so tomorrow and Friday not the best of days.

Lyra - never had mastitis so cannot offer any good advice but I'm sure theres loads on here, hope it clears up soon and you can get back to enjoying little Alex.

DP on a half day today think he feels sorry for me with all this and the cold/cough on top of everything else. Am getting so fed up with all these twinges not doing anything much. Tesco's messed up the grocery order yesterday have reordered for today just hope they come on time have no food in the house.

Hopefully we will get some news on Rach and Iris today as well.
