Evening all had the curry now just have to have sex.

Rach - good to see you can't believe you've not had a baby yet, are you sure theres one in there? I'm beginning to think I'm making it up. You poor thing you must be so fed up being in hospital all that time too, really feel for you. Thought by no 4 you would cough and he would have fallen out, typical man though! If I don't post again bestest wishes for tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

HM - so much for our joint "lets have our babies on their due date pact" as usual nothing to report here, bad BHs and shooting pains through my cervix but nothing. Think her bum or feet are under my ribs, very breathless and sore.
Shall we go for tomorrow instead then?

Hi Folks, Just a quick note from my hospital room. DH has brought my laptop up so I can type a quick message. Haven't had time to read all your posts but will do as soon as I'm back
Came in Tuesday around 11am to be induced. 2 doses of prostin had little effect so was left overnight to be tried again Weds am. No progress by am so third Prostin and left to see if any progress over 6-8 hours. Weds PM told still little progress. They could have broken my waters but didn?t want to late in the day in case it resulted in emergency cs needed in middle of night when only skeleton staff.
Thursday am, waters broken, 10 minutes later epidural put in (to be prepared in case cs needed), drip put up to bring on contractions. By 10am was all settled with my insulin, glucose, and anti-biotic drips in and ready for a long wait. About 3pm consultant brought in coz the midwives were concerned about her heartbeat being slow to recover. He said he?d examine me and if still onl,y about 2-3 cm would need cs, but if 7-8 or so could afford to wait a few hours. He examined me and shocked us all by saying I was fully dilated and ready to push! About half an hour was spent pushing but Lola?s head wouldn?t come down enough. Consultant called back in and Ventouse tried, it was no use. Forceps tried, again no use. Theatre team called for crash CS. They told us they?d have to put me out as they didn?t think they had time to top up the epidural, so Andy wasn?t allowed in theatre. They got him in scrubs just in case they found when I got there that they could do it awake. While they took me into theatre he went to the rest room to tell my mum what was happening, by the time he?d done that and got back to the theatre doors they told him the baby was out! As soon as I got into theatre they put epidural top up in and it hit the spot right away so they were able to get on with it with me awake. Andy came in just as they were cleaning her up.

7lb 6oz, 16.49, 12th January Lola Rose Catherine Pearson

Didn?t need to go to special care first night but next morning blood sugars had dropped so she did and only came back to me this afternoon. Having probs getting her to touch the breast now as she?s had bottles for 2 days in SCBU. Sticking with it tho, so prob won?t be home for a few more days til we?ve established a good feeding routing. Can?t wait to get home and show her off. She?s her Daddy?s IMAGE, it?s quite scary!

Catch up soon. Lis & Lola xxx

sweetkitty · 14/01/2006 22:41

aww Lisa many congratulations sounds like you had a long haul but got there in the end

Welcome to the world Lola, so pleased for you honey as I know you were so worried. Stick with the boob, bet your getting some good advice but mine is offer boob first before bottle every time (I did this with DD and she clicked on eventually) best of luck, we'll be here if you need some support.

Take care of yourself and can't wait to see some pics of your little bundle.

I'm mega broody now seeing all the Yahoo pics and birth stories.

hunkermunker · 14/01/2006 22:41

Massive congratulations, Lisa! Lola sounds adorable - can't wait to see pics! Hope you're home with her soon.

SK, I know Yes, let's go for tomorrow! DH asleep atm - may have to wake him up, but it's not worked after last night, shall we say?

Rach69 · 15/01/2006 06:13

Congratulations Lisa - you did it!

Not too much sleep last night due to aroma of second hand vindaloo in the bedroom!

Beautiful clear sky and full moon at the moment - come on Moon - I am a Cancerian - turn my tide!

Have just looked at all the gorgeous pics on Yahoo (and how gorgeous are they?! )and it's really cheered me up - there is a light at the end of the tunnel - there is a baby in here (although it's a good thing I've seen the scans - beginning to feel like Mary I with her phantom pregnancies!)

Thanks Iris - have your number now so will keep in touch, it'll be you I text straight after the Guinness Book of Records!

Spent 3 hrs on phone to big sis in NZ (a mw) who has given me a good pep talk - wish she was here -instead I get my mum and 94 yr old grandmother who are descending today... (Lord give me strength!) as if I don't feel enough like a walking womb 'the grandpara in bed 2 with the 6th IOL...'

Good luck to everyone else!

iris66 · 15/01/2006 08:46

Morning!

Congratulations Lisa!!!!!!!
There must be a dodgy batch of prostin doing the rounds!! Sounds like you had a right time of it too! Am so pleased that Lola's sugar picked up so quickly. You'll both be home in a flash I'm sure and good on your DH for bringing a laptop in for you

Rach - got your CAT(s)/number.

Have yet to convince DH that sex will work so no action here . Seems like we're out to prove every therapy/old wives tale is pants Think I'll end up induced next mon too(hope our hosp has different prostin!)

Bacon butty is calling......back later

sweetkitty · 15/01/2006 09:50

Morning all

Nothing here either did the full works too, walk, clary sage bath, curry ans sex - zilch!

Woke at 12, 2 and 4 with bad pains, the ones at 4 were horrendous then nothing. Needless to say I'm very down today spent the morning in tears, DP keeps asking "why I'm crying?" grrr. To make matters worse DD is ill too and all she wants is her Mummy but as I can't get comfy sitting for any length of time I can't comfort her. Had argument with DP as I want to go out for a bit and he doesn't think I should but I've been cooped up in here all week it feels like. Just keep thinking I can't face another week of this.

Anyway moan over sorry I'm sure I'll feel better soon.

Rach - best of luck for today hope the give you superstrength prostin. I know we will all soon be on the post-natal thread moaning about sore nipples and leaking sanitary pads! The end is in sight for us all now.

take care all x

Mum2OneAndBump · 15/01/2006 11:00

sorry

Eshay · 15/01/2006 13:37

Oh poor Rachey! I so feel for you. It must have been awful being in H for that long and nothing happening! Mabye the break today will give your baby the right idea. If all else fails and you do end up with a Caesarean, they're not all that bad, really. Yes, it takes longer afterwards to recover but the actual operation is over and done with in no time. You can even hold and cuddle baby while they sew you up again!

So good to hear from you too Lisa - we've all been thinking about you over the past week. What a pity DH didn't get to be present at the birth but I'm sure he was glad it all went well in the end. I was at FPH on Friday and was hoping to see you walk past, Lola in arms. I didn't really want to go running up and down the corridors calling for 'lisa&lola' no last name known..

Bought a pineapple today so will eat/drink that later on. I thought about having sex last night and this morning but the weekend is not relly ideal for the baby to arrive so I left it. Not that it helped any last time around... I wonder if supermarket peeople know what's up when a pg woman buys a pineapple...

T is having a nap so I'm going to have a lie-down too. Have a good afternoon and evening - may there be lots of shows and wet trousers

Mum2OneAndBump · 15/01/2006 14:13

Afternoon, just thought i would pop in & let you all know nothing happening on this front, anyone having any luck today??

Eshay - You are due on the same day as me i think? 19th? funny you say about the people in the supermarket wondering about pregnant women buying pineapples, i felt a tad like that yesterday as i brought 2! I had a whole pineapple last night, i felt totally sick but was determined to eat & finish it off, it has done nothing so far, so will be attempting my 2nd one tonight, goodluck with yours!

Sweetkitty - Try not to feel to down, it must be hard for you as your DD was 2 weeks early before so being late is new to you, its frustrating isn't it? I was hoping i would be early this time round as ds was 10 days late & that nearly killed me, i have a strong feeling this one is going to be late now, she seems to be as stubburn as her mother

For some reason i keep thnking the 25th so we shall see......

I don't care when she comes as long as i do not have to be induced, i am so so determined this is not going to happen i just would be so so upset if i had to be

Anyway had a nice 1hr 30 mins to myself to do all the housework & put the washing on while dp toke ds out, oh it was such bliss i never ever get that break at weekends it was fab

Hope everyone is ok. xx

sweetkitty · 15/01/2006 14:24

hi all feeling a bit better but very emotional today and have no appetite whatsoever, am just eating for the sake of not feeling hungry. Trying not to read too much into it.

M2OAB - thank you for your kind words, I think I am my own worst enemy thinking that I would be early again this time, funny thing is everyone has started talking about induction and I'm like I have 2 more weeks yet! I think other people try to be helpful but they aren't really they just make you feel worse, if I get one more text sayig "any news" or "are you still pregnant" I will scream. I know what you mean about the BHs they are so sore. I was a bit puzzled last time as everyone else was getting them and I didn't get so much as a twinge.

Eshay - good to see you and good luck on the pineapple front, I did it last week and they just gave me the runs - sorry! Must be an even longer month for you girls due the end of Jan too.

Am a bit worried about going into labour at the end of the week as SIL is away with work so won't be able to come and look after DD as there is no one else it means DP will have to stay with DD but I suppose we will get round it.

Oh I think I'll do an update with Lisa's details on it that will cheer me up.

Hey Hunker apart from the posters that don't post that often you and me are next on the list so that must mean we will have our babies soon.

You need to have a boy too to even things up, how's today looking for you, not looking good for me !!

OP posts:
iris66 · 15/01/2006 15:40

Sweetkitty - the list is looking great - so many babies on it now - we must be due another rush of births soon Your LO will come when DD is fast asleep so DP won't have to leave you at all

Talking of which I think I'll just sleep my way to my induction on 23rd - it's all I seem to want to do at the mo (have just woken up from a 3 hour stint ) and there are absolutely no signs of any action here. LO is just making me mind numbingly tired & hungry so he can grow extra huge - he's going to be too big for 1/2 his clothes at this rate!!

Haven't had any texts from Rach/DP yet. I do hope it works for her today.

Anyone got any nice plans for next week? I figured that if I book something I really want to do then maybe I wont be able to do it IYKWIM. Am planning on not shaving my legs at all and booking a pedicure/manicure Any other ideas?

lyra41 · 15/01/2006 17:13

Hi Iris

I recommend a massage, i really enjoyed my last one, and quite fancy another now i'm post natal. i think i'll try to find a massage therapist who can come to the house to do me, then i can have one soon. eating and sleeping your way to the birth doesn't sound too bad, go for it girl!

ooh Rach, i'm so sorry you don't have your baby boy yet and that you had to spend so much time in hosp. hope you can cope with the visitors, are they staying at your house? i think that would be too much for me, now or before.

we've had lots of visitors over the past few days which is lovely but a bit tiring.some have been abs fab, bringin meals, doing jobs like cleaning the floor, doin shoppin and takin the washin away and bringin it back clean. friends like these are the best at a time like this.

pls exc the 1 handed typin, got alex on my knee.

sweetkitty · 15/01/2006 17:20

Iris - nice to see you, sleeping/eating to the birth would be great, wish I could I have a nap most days now though when DD naps. Was looking at the calendar and the 23rd is only a week away for you now. Are you hoping to go before then or are you resigned to the induction? Give me another 2 weeks and I'll be agreeing to someone with a rusty hacksaw delivering the baby!

I'm a bit worried about clothes too last time even the newborn ones were too big for DD so her first ones were up to 7 1/2 lbs the rate at this one's going she will be coming out walking so half her clothes will be too small too.

Lyra - good to see you, you get better at the one handed typing with practice I found. I hope you are getting really spoiled and getting the chance to put your feet up.

The stats are looking very good 10 babies already and the pics on yahoo are great too love seeing them especially ones with proud siblings off to make dinner now DD a little bit better now she's had a good sleep.

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 15/01/2006 17:21

Sorry forgot to add best wishes to Rach and Tickle I really felt for Rach how rough is it to be in hospital fo days and not leave with a baby? Fingers crossed for her.

Hope Tickle is doing OK too and gets to go home soon.

Hi all

Got a text from Rach. 7th prostin didn't work . Have no further news so don't know what they're likely to do next. I can only assume it will depend on how bad her pre-eclampsia symptoms were. Will be sending lots of "cervix like a plate of custard" vibes tonight (don't ask!! - Lyra - the imagery is all your doing ) Really hope she has some good news soon.
THINKING OF YOU RACH!!!!

but oooooh - am totally stuffed. Big sleep = no lunch so totally pigged out on DH's roast beef dinner earlier. Ended up gorging myself & had 6 yorkshire puds too to mop up delicious gravy/mustard mixture (I am soo going to pay for this later!!)

Lyra - good to see you! Am seriously impressed with the one handed typing (maybe we should all get into practise now in readiness ) What lovely friends you have bringing you food & doing washing!! Think the massage is a really good idea too (upper back massage around the spine is particularly good to help milk/engorgement probs btw). How are DS1 & DD enjoying their new little brother? The reality must be a bit of a shock but I bet they're as pleased as punch. have they changed his nappy yet?

Sweetkitty - resigned to induction? I think not! Am getting desperate as it's just about the last thing I want (and I was soooo sure he'd be early!) I'm really struggling to get support in doing anything to get things moving IYKWIM (ie natural prostaglandin) Going to take Millie on a big walk tomorrow & have reflexology booked for Thu (in addition to the self help stuff I'm doing every day) Starting on high strength homeopathic stuff tomorrow too so fingers crossed (not that I'm panicking in any way...much)

Will let you know if Rach texts again. Am off to practise my impression of Waynetta slob (doesn't take much!!)

hunkermunker · 15/01/2006 19:04

Oh, poor Rachey - really hope things get going for her soon.

SK, nothing here. How are you?

Had a lovely day - took DH and DS out for lunch, just to Pizza Express, but was really nice. DS was SO sweet - kept saying "Danks!" (thanks) to the waiter and waving at people arriving and leaving the restaurant. He's started picking up "his" mobile phone (DH's old one) and saying "Hiya" then pausing, then saying "See you soon, bye!" - makes me laugh! Can't believe that a couple of months ago he was hardly talking - it all happens so quickly!

NotAcow · 15/01/2006 21:25

typed this out this morning, but forgot to actually post it (duh??) will add other bits on the end to hopefully catch up...

V useful and handy MW mother arrived yesterday...and shes got a cold! so im nursing her back to health with elaborate yummy breakfasts and high doses of lemsip cold and flu with extra honey and lemon. she keeps apologising for being sick, the dozy mare, but im sure she'll be alright soon enough. and the kids are loving having her here anyway so thats alright then.

have just about managed to find time to register on the yahoo site adn look at one or two pics. Gorgeous!! hopefully will find time to see them all later...

i thought it might all be kicking off at 3am this morning, but luckily only told dp and didnt get the whole circus started for nothing coz it turned out to be wishful thinking (and wind!!??? BH's i guess, but pretty strong) oh well, still just over a week till due date so cant really complain.
the head is engaged now tho and MW mum says i have an 'irritable uterus' which is a good sign apparently, so fingers crossed for an early, or at least on time arrival. yeah right! no 1 was 38 wks, but no 2 was 42 weeks so at least i know not to count my chickens, so to speak.
have just changed the birth pool water and it'll take hours to heat up, so soda law says it happens now tho! haha. i wish.

SK - have so much sympathy for you with the SPD. sounds much worse than mine, which since a bad patch a while ago has stayed pretty much a bay, so im pretty chuffed with that. hope it goes away for you swiftly after the birth and doesnt give you too much trouble till then.
and yes, the nanny would have driven you nuts, im pretty sure. it was nice to have the washing and stuff done, but ultimately she was soooo annoying, the bad outweighed the good! would rather do it myself and cope with the pelvis pain! now thats annoying... hope the best mate is ok soon too. had no idea it was so common!

Mr Tickle - LOVELY post from you. congrats to you both and glad all is well in the end. ahhhh.

Mak - Niamh is a gorgeous name.

Eshay - yes, agree my mum will be much easier to argue with than the horrible 'hired help' (really never imagined i would ever say things like that!!), and i resent doing the housework less now that im not paying someone else to do it. and its her duty to forgive me if i do get unreasonable coz im her daughter, and the only one to give her grandchildren and 9 months preg so, goddamit, im supposed to be a pain in the arse, arent i??

Rach - !!! blimey girl,ok, so im prepared to wait another week if it means you can get all my contracting 'energy' somehow - if only it worked that way really hope things get going for you sooooooon. you have, im sure, all our fingers crossed for you and your armoured cervix!

Lisa- sounds like some scary moments there, but well done you and the name is gorgeous too. good on you for sticking at the BF, even tho its hard for her when shes had bottles... im sure you'll get a routine going in no time with a bit of determination. fingers crossed for you.

SK again - hang in there girl. nearly over now.

lyra - lovely friends! and 1 handed typing is something we all better get used to. that or voice recognition programs... now that would be cool...

iris - how yummy does that roast sound??? mmm.

MH - ahhh to DS. mine is doing much the same now; 'oh genks!' (thanks) he says cheerfully every 5 minutes, and when i moaned about the wireless network going down earlier he followed me up the stairs saying 'whats wrong mama? talk to me mama! use words!' cracked me up. bless.

anyway. must go and lounge around moaning and groaning...

sorry for such long post but only really get a chance once a day, and you lot post so much its hard to keep up!

sweetkitty · 15/01/2006 21:54

hi all

Little DD not well very lethargic and head full of snot, think we are in for a bad night, shes never ill as well.

notacow and hunker - aww your DSs sound adorable, DD only says mama and dada and eetie (sweetie) she has her own language though think she is waiting for us to learn it! Am typing this one handed DD on knee I'm an expert don't know what I'll do with 2 though!

Iris - thanks for letting us know about Rach poor thing that little man is refusing to budge. Send her all our love and best wishes if you can. I hope you manage to avoid the induction then, I know what it's like now trying everything and nothing working. Am thinking about reflexology myself, also is there anything else homeopathic you could recommend? Being nosy but what was your DDs birth like?

Hunker - not a sausage happening here, woken up from nap with bad BHs hate them, theres always a tiny part of you thinks "it may be the start?" Can't even face some more natural prostaglandins tonight. Shall we go for tomorrow then?

notacow - good your mums arrived to help you out. Yes the SPD is a nightmare and the main reason I want the baby out, last time though it went as soon as the baby was out so hopefully will be the same this time.

Right hope everyone has a good night big waters breaking contraction vibes for us all especially Rach take care x

OP posts:
iris66 · 16/01/2006 06:27

morning all - it's stupid o'clock and all is, well... dark and quiet actually! No more news from Rach yet so hopefully it's a good sign!

All quiet here in irisville - apart from the fact that DH is clearly reading my posts & made an unprompted move on me last night (was starting to feel as alluring as Jabba the Hutt!!!!) But sadly, apart from a few rather painful BHs, nothing has happened yet. Maybe a second dose is necessary (tonight? huh? can we? can we?)

Sweetkitty - hope Abbie had a better night than you were expecting (it's awful when they're ill - especially when they're not normally - isn't it).

I can't recommend anything homeopathic for you as I don't know enough about them - sorry. My homeopath said there were loads of remedies that could kick start labour (she used kinesiology to work out which one is best for me - though whether he's ready or not will determine whether they work!!!) and gave me 2 that weren't in my commercial labour kit(pulsatilla & sepia) Ones in my kit that it says can support weak contractions (and so presumeably could cause them?) are caulophyllum & gelsemium, but you'd need to go to a homeopath to get the high potentcy stuff as they only do up to 30c in Boots.

I'm resigned to thinking DS is going to be on time or thereabouts like DD was. She arrived at 40+1 - or 39+6, depending on which date used (hosp couldn't make up it's mind so DD split the difference!) I had pretty much a text book pg & labour with her (as with this one - GD aside)so fingers crossed that this one will be a text book 2nd labour once he decides to get his head in the right place!!!

iris66 · 16/01/2006 06:42

All your LOs sound soo lovely btw - I loved that time when DD was learning to speak & starting to interact more with perople.

Hope one of you (at least) is feeling more than a little labour-like today will check in later.
