morning all

still here, not pg. sorry, shouldn't boast, but it is SUCH a relief.

had a reasonable nite last nite, woke Alex up at 3am to feed as my Jordans have arrived and i thought it was a good idea to keep the milk flowing and prevent blockages. so far so good, but his tongue tie is causing my nips major major damage and makes feeding something of a painful experience. i'm gonna go on the bf thread to see if anyone has advice about bf a baby with tongue tie.

it's been an endless stream of visitors here, which has been lovely, but i'm anticipating they'll slow down today with it being Monday. dh says i need proper rest periods in the day when i try to nap, or i'll get really overtired and milk may suffer. so today between 10 and 12 and 2 and 4 i have orders to stay in bed lying down, listening to the radio, reading or sleeping. i think i can cope with that. dh is being such a star atm, much better at looking after me than he was when we had ds1 and dd. not sure why there's such an improvement, but v glad there is. having said that, there is a bit of a backlog in the washing dept. i may have to look into that shortly.

if i haven't said it before,
BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO LISA! SORRY IT WAS SUCH AN ORDEAL, BUT GLAD TO HEAR YOU'RE ON THE MEND AND YOU HAVE YOUR GORGEOUS LOLA ROSE NOW.

Also big congrats to MAK and everyone else who's delivered from the due in Jan thread so far.

as for the rest of you, i'm thinking of you and sending all the contraction and relaxation vibes i can.

see you soon x

Morning all just checking in to see if anyone managed to have a baby in the night. All's quiet here too. Abbie did have a horrebdous night by her standards but DP got up to see to her but I was still awoken about 6 times. She seems to have perked up this morning though and is on her normal pull out every toy and scatter them as far as possible so all is well. She has managed to give her cold/cough to me though, I'm hoping if I cough a lot it might dislodge this little stubborn madam in here.

Iris - I was thinking about Caullophyllum myself but would either have to see a proper homeopath or order it over the net knowing my luck it would come after the baby did (although maybe thats a good tactic) I think it's like everything else though they have to be ready to come out. Well done on the noctural action last night, I really couldn't face it last night I think DP was relieved TBH. Fingers crossed you get a text book labour with this one too. It will be funny in a year we won't remember any of this waiting and will be preoccupied with them walking and becoming toddlers - scary stuff!

Lyra - nice to see you as always. Don't have any experience of BFing a baby with tongue tie sorry. Am sure there are people on here who have had the same problems. Good idea about the resting as well.

Right hope we get some news and a baby today!

Morning!

lost a bit (and ive seen a whole one, so i know its just a little bit) of my 'plug' this morning, and baby has def moved down. heads engaged.... good to go! hurrah! and the pool waters been changed and is hot again (thank goodness) so all systems go then [i wish!]

SK - good news on the spd going straight away. hope that is thecase this time too, and you are BOUND to have this one out soon!! it just cant stay in there forever! (as half of them seem to want to! Poor Rach!)

Iris - LOL about your natural prostoglandin antics - cant really be bothered myself anymore. he got all offended last time i ordered him to 'service' me, said he felt used and i had said it all clinical and now he didnt feel like it! i told him he got me into this mess, and it was his responsibility to help me out of it, but he didnt find that sexy either! took me ages of cooing and soothing words before he stopped sulking and got down to business - far too much work if you ask me !

lyra - dh sounds like a star! what lovely orders, to stay in bed and rest and feed. bless. and washing?? whats that? yes, i need to get on that one too...

will check in again later if i have time, but sending out happy (contracting/feeding) thoughts to all x

NotAcow · 16/01/2006 09:15

ps kitty - good to hear dd is feeling better too. thats one less thing to worry about at least

Eshay · 16/01/2006 10:00

Good Morning again,

These days I start typing before having read all the posts so someone may have announced a birth or trip to the hospital and I don't know it yet.. Ah, the excitement. No excitement here. I had quite a bit of pineapple last night but then my tongue got sore and my stomach was latting me know enough was enough as well. Then DH took over eating the rest so there's not that much left for me to have today. Maybe I'lll have to waddle to the supermarket and get myself a new one today. Juicing it probably makes it easier to have more. Another pg woman walking through the door, headed straight for the pineapples

NOtaCow - Glad to hear your mum has arrived and you are feeling better about the situation now. She's even apologising for being ill - would the hired help have done that? Of course not, she would have taken the day off! I wish my mum could visit but she's in Holland so a bit far to come and have a coffee. My parents will come when the baby is about 1 week old, when DH goes back to work. I'm sure I'll be sick of them staying at our house after a few days but it's just really good to have some help you can rely on.

MY MIL rang last night because she was super worried something might have happened during the day. Last week we gave her an old mobile phone so we could always ring her and she had gone out without it! She was feeling so guilty that she had to make sure we were all right. The funny thing is, she already finds the coffee maker a bit too complicated to operate so we're not actually counting on her to be able to use the phone at all. In a way we're using the imminent birth as a little trick to get her to try a more modern lifestyle. She's always racing around catching trains, buses and travelling all over the world but no one can ever contact her. SHe's a phonebox kind of girl, which is fine as long as there is no hurry, but she misses trains because she has to make a call first... So maybe by next week she'll have had some time to get used to the idea.

SK - Sorry to hear Abbie didn't have a very good night but great that DP went to tend to her needs. Waking up is one thing, having to go and sit with her is quite another. The timing is just awful, isn't it? At least she's doing better today. Maybe it's a good thing in a way, to get your mind off your bump and on other things - it might make the time go by a bit quicker. If we were any closer I'd say drop her off here - I'm sure Thomas and Abbie would have the greatest time together, throwing things in the toilet and hiding shoes

Ah 10 am - what shall I do today? I might have a nice bath and see what takes my fancy after that. It's great not to have strong nesting urges

iris66 · 16/01/2006 10:10

Hi Eshay - you really bring a laid back vibe to the thread - it's lovely! Chuckled at your MIL's antics - she sounds a bit like mine good luck with the pineapple.

NotACow - nooooooooo at your show!!!! ( pleased for you really )I actually am going to be last aren't I .

Took my homepathic pill earlier. Nothing happened apart from the fact that I now feel vaguely nauseous - but that could be the after effects of yesterday evening's overindulgence

iris66 · 16/01/2006 11:00

OMG!!! do waters go in stages? just had a gush (defo not wee) but doesn't seem to be enough there?!!!!

hotmama · 16/01/2006 11:11

Iris - how exciting. Could have just been the fore waters? Although, I have no experience of this as dd1's waters were broken. Isn't it a bit like us in the bath - could be little/no water in front but when we move there is a massive gush when the tidal wave behinds us gushes?

iris66 · 16/01/2006 11:15

hotmama - forgot about forewaters v strange feeling though - I felt instantly more comfortable (apart from soaked trousers) & less nauseous than before. ooooh I do hope this is a good sign that I won't have to be induced next week

iris66 · 16/01/2006 11:18

thanks

sweetkitty · 16/01/2006 11:28

Oh Iris hope this is the start of something for you, my waters never gushed just like a constant trickle. Are you going to see the MW today and get checked over? Mine has told me to phone if waters go because of fast labour last time. They will check you over to see if it was your waters and if it is depending on your hospital policy give you 24 or 48 hours to go into labour if not they induce you. Fingers crossed eh? I was back 3 hours later to have the baby!

notacow - hope your plug going might be the start of something for you too, the end is in sight!

Eshay - morning too I've given up on the pineapples too

Well have tidied and cleaned upstairs have changed the bed hopefully that will mean by sods law my waters will go or something will happen soon, we live in hope!

Iris - keep an eye on those waters watch out for a constant trickle, keep us posted!

Where's hunker???

OP posts:
iris66 · 16/01/2006 11:46

Have called the MW & have to go in today to be checked over but I can leave it until after tea if nothing else is happening (thank goodness - that's what I'll be doing then!). She said they may let me home overnight if all is ok .

LO has hiccups now & bump is very tender & uncomfortable but no BHs/contractions (wierd!)

hotmama · 16/01/2006 11:48

Oh good luck!

iris66 · 16/01/2006 11:51

Thanks hotmama - going off to bounce on my ball to try to get things going (if they're going to I want to be home for as long as possible!!!)

BBWBabeLisa · 16/01/2006 11:52

hi folks
very quick msg as am v sore from cs staples. we're home and all ok. will try to get caught up over next couple days.
managed to express about 10ml this morning so hoping somethings starting to come thru and she might show a bit more interest.
lis x

sweetkitty · 16/01/2006 11:52

Iris - when my waters went I had to wear a sanitary towel constantly as they were trickling everywhere, MW got annoyed when they trickled on the bed and I was asking for paper towels (she was a witch anyway), they will check it's deffo your waters. I got sent home with some temperature checking things and an appointment was made for 48 hours later.

Don't think they can "make" you stay in hospital though. I got first contraction about 3 hours after they went so loads of contraction vibes on their way to you.

What's happening now, are you leaking?

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 16/01/2006 11:55

Hi Lisa good to see you, keep up with the expressing you will get tiny amounts to start with don't be discouraged. I was getting 10-20 mls the first few days. Keep offering her your breast, then the expressed milk then top up with formula, eventually you will be able to drop the formula then the EBM and just have the breast, the key is to keep putting her to it when she's hungry, she'll get the hang of it.

Good luck and best wishes x

OP posts:
Eshay · 16/01/2006 12:31

Iris, how exciting! And good thing you phoned the MW. It's always best to have s/one look at these things, even if it's just for reassurance. I can just imagine bouncing on your ball might get some more water flowing as baby's head might be pressed firmly against the exit like plug and when you bounce up and down let out a bit each time you're up.

Lisa, so glad to hear you're at home now. Recovery from a C-section can be difficult but I found that once I was at home things progressed much more quickly. Well done for keeping up the BFing. As SK says, keep offering Lola the breast first and one day she'll realise that's where the goodies are to be had. And all that lovely sucking and cuddling all at once - oh, heaven! I once saw a video of a mum and bay who wouldn't breastfeed and they had a bath toghether. Baby was lying on mum's tum (kept warm with cups of water from the bath) and actually found his way to the breast all by himself and had a good suck! I thought I'd remeber that one as I never felt super comfortable with Thomas and it was always a struggle to keep him and my boobs and nipples lined up so he could keep drinking. Gravity... Bath thing seemed so relaxed but I haven't tried it yet so can't speak from experience. Good luck!

iris66 · 16/01/2006 13:29

Don't appear to be leaking (despite having a good bounce) but now I've got a very sore bump. It feels like a constant BH, but mainly over the top half, not gripping or periody. Will keep you posted if anything interesting happens

Sweetkitty - think the "must stay" thing is to cover their backs not going to though unless they give me a very good reason!! ( only live 1/2 hour away) - LO still wriggly too so he must be fine with things.
Have you seen the announcements thread btw? Ange8179 had a daughter!

Eshay - what a good idea about the bath (really relaxing too I bet must make a mental note of that.

Hi Lisa - home at last eh! Keep taking the painkillers - they'll help you to relax better too which will also benefit your feeding. Sounds like you're doing so well.

GeorginaP · 16/01/2006 13:55

Hi lovely ladies

Just a quickie to say hello and that I'm thinking of you all. Have got fingers crossed (would cross legs as well, but still a bit sore ).

Everything going well with me. Just remembering how different it iks to have a babe to look after as opposed to a 4 year old!

Will try and get Libby off to sleep and catch up on the thread.

G xx

Will

sweetkitty · 16/01/2006 14:04

hi Iris, really hope things start for you soon, what time are you going in to be checked over? Am so excited for you!!

I saw Ange8179 had her daughter (what a weight too ouch) am waiting on Rach's announcement then I'll update the stats, cos it's more exciting that way

Hi Georgie - glad Libby is doing well, get your rest too.

My bump is going mad today as well, keep telling her there is more room on the outside. Better get back to it DD needs nappy changing and a nap.

Just caught up on the thhread...

Congratulations Tickle. What an eventful birth. Am soooo glad that everything ok. Must have been a little scary for you.

Congratulations Lisa. What a lovely name. Glad you're back home and able to rest in your own bed. Take it easy and don't go busting any of those staples.

Rachey - good grief girl. I feel for you I really, really do. At least LO is safe and well inside you (not much comfort for you I know when all you want is for him to come out).

I hope I haven't missed saying congrats to anyone else.

We're nearly all there.....

G xx

GeorginaP · 16/01/2006 14:19

At the risk of being booted off this thread by those that are still preggers, have just started post natal thread.....

Sweetkit - how you feeling? Hope cold hasn't taken hold too badly.

iris66 · 16/01/2006 14:25

How frustrating!!! Everything seems to have calmed down now so I'm going to have a little sleep. We're probably not going to the hosp until about 7ish tonight. They're not keeping me in unless it's something major so will update you later. Sorry for getting you all (and me)excited over what is now appearing to be nothing

Still no news on Rach

sweetkitty · 16/01/2006 14:43

Don't worry about it Iris I think I'm on false alarm no 16 by now! It is so frustrating I could really do with having the baby at the beginning of the week, fav MW on call, DP within easy reach, SIL here to look after DD!

Georgie - I'm just green with envy with you starting the post natal thread, I'll be on there soon though! Cold is annoying more than anything else - runny nose and sore throat. DD has taken to wiping hers on the sofas! They are machine washable covers but am going to wait until her cold clears up before washing them. The whole house is covered in snot.
