congrats to lyra and all the other mums in Jan that have already popped! So nice to see that the Yahoo site is serving its purpose, i will post some pics of my bubs, Harriette on there. I do have a site, www.peanutmonkey.co.uk if anyone wants to have a nosey round there ( just copy and paste the addy , i am useless at links!!!)
Harri is now 11 days old but is growing at an enormous rate, already 10 ozs above her birth weight!! shes such a porker!

My thoughts go out to all you that are waiting, it will come round eventually, and when it does you wont have time to blink! Good luck and keep your spirits up.

Higs to everyone J and Harri xxxx

Mumto1, hugs to you chick, i got your email ( finally got round to checking them) i will respond i promise.
Try not to stress about 'him indoors' not pulling his weight, just make sure he knows you feel down abiut it. Its not worth worrying yourself or getting uptight about it.
Hope you feel better soon, try and get some rest and or sleep, when is your due date? are you near it? fingers crossed if you are, and lots of positive labour vibes to you xxx

Mak · 14/01/2006 12:49

Hi Ladies
Sorry I haven't posted - it just really whacked me being in the hospital for 4 days, have only just caught up with myself.
I really need to have a good read of all of these posts - there are so many.
CONGRATULATIONS to all who have popped. Well done Loomer - very impressed with your birth.
Well my labour was not what I expected AT ALL! As you know waters broke at 6.05 Saturday morning (god, a week ago ) went into hospital at 8 ish. when they examined me I was still only 2cm (had been since Thurs), so they moved me up to a maternity ward to let labour progress. So there was me, DH and my TENS machine, by lunch I was in agonising pain and TENS wasn't doing much for me. I began to panic because of my previous CS scar, and was worried that all was not well. So they took me downstairs and once I had some G&A I was fine. Labour was slow to progress it took until about 4 O'clock for me to get to 3-4 cm by which time I had asked for an epidural. FANTASTIC stuff. So it was one intervention after another. Baby was back to back and wasn't descending, contractions really never became regular, and her heartbeat was fluctuating. They gave me syntocin later that evening and I managed to get to 8 cm by about 10 O'clock. They said I could have another 4 hours of labour . In the meantime they had to do scalp tests on the baby to measure acid levels in her blood to amke sure she wasn't actually more distressed than the monitor was showing. They did that twice. Gave me more syntocin. Then just as I was falling to sleep the room filled with people, put my legs in stirrups and said 'push'. I didn't know where I was!!!!!
Then after three pushes took me to theatre for a forceps delivery (or poss CS).
When we got there I told the Dr that the baby was coming out NOW!
And she did - quite easily after all that.
She was born at 5.34 am weighing 8Ibs 9ozs. She had to be taken to the baby unit to have antibiotics for several reasons, and we had to stay in hospital until Wed.
It all sounds pretty awful but actually it was quite chilled, the staff were bloody brilliant and although it wasn't how I had envisaged, it was still a super experience and we have a beautiful daughter to cherish.
Sorry about the long post - but so much happened (infact I've skipped a few details). Right I must read what everybody else is up to.

hunkermunker · 14/01/2006 12:51

Just off out, so haven't got time to read thread - just wanted to tell SK I was still here and look likely to be for the foreseeable - this baby's very comfy, I think!

NotAcow · 14/01/2006 13:16

hello all -

brace yourselves (or just breeze past, whichever takes your fancy!) for a ridiculously long and rambling post...

Iris, happy to hear you are happier now. KWYM about classic male emotional ineptitude... sometimes have to spell things out in very simple terms to my dp, but bless him, he does try when he gets it. hope your dinner is yummy anyway.

actually the poor thing ( my dp) is off to his first sons 6th b'day party today (to which our sons, his brothers FGS, are not invited [scowl]). It will be lovely to see him, but a huge row is anticipated at some point with his mum who refuses to see that it is her behaviour, not ss's, that is a problem at the mo... [sigh, and try to accept things will hopefully improve in time emoticon, for ss's sake]
sorry to hear your consultant apt was such a disapointment, but like you say, at least theres no concerns. and at least you know you'll def have LO by a certain date! tick tock eh? all this waiting is such a killer...

Eshay - thanks for support on the nanny front. i did try the getting her out the house more route, but it wasnt enough, so i (very nicely) told her today that i dont need a nanny afterall and she's off to the train station to return from whence she came in about an hour!! hurrah! and no bad feeling coz i lied and told her it wasnt anything she'd done. no need to be mean, is there? My mum (the MW) is here for a fortnight from today anyway, so i really dont need her anyway. Stand by for posts from me moaning about my mum doing my head in now!

all we need now, is for the baby to be born! clary sage? pineapple? curry? sex? raspberry leaf tea? pah! none of it is working!! ive even been bouncing on the ball now and then, but Archie and Max think its a game and take it off me before long, giggling maniacally. too cute to say no!

SK - know what you mean about the jordan boobs. its the best thing about having babies IMO (apart from the baby of course!) i'm usually a AA, or an A on a good day sort of girl, so i will be lamenting the final departure of my lovely round bosom when i finish BF'ing this time .

think ive decided to have coil fitted asap to prevent getting pg again, so this really is v likely to be my last, which is what i want. just want to sit back and watch them all grow now (satisfied and happy emoticon).

Georgie - v jealous of you feeding LO. happy to hear youre happy tho, if a little lonely - think theres enough of you to get post natal thread going now, dont you? we can all join in as and when...

HM and SK - u in labour yet? it really wont be long now... thats what i keep telling myself anyway!!

Lyra - dont know if ive said it yet or not, but CONGRATS. sorry birth wasnt quite as smooth as hoped (havent found other thread yet, but if you didnt want to put us off with the story on here, it cant have been easy, so symaphies for that) but well done you on producing happy healthy baby and without stitches and all that...

where is this yahoo site everyone keeps on about? would love to see some faces to the names...

Mak - wow! what a story. well done and CONGRATS on your fantastic new arrival, even if she did give you some trouble on the way out...

must be off now, and stop boring eveyone. ds's 1 and 2 are jumping all over me and making it kind of hard to type...

xxxx's and happy vibes to all and sundry

iris66 · 14/01/2006 13:39

Afternoon ladies!

Mak - Hi!! good to see you back on line. Niamh didn't want to come out by the sound of things did she ?!- too comfy I'm really pleased that your experience was so positive overall though. Are you going to post some piccies on the yahoo site? We'd love to see her (and you!)

Jaysfirst - I can't get to see your pics for some reason Harri sounds like she's doing really well and you're obviously enjoying every minute! Can't wait to join you in 9 days time!! (thanks for the compliment about the top btw am even more like a torpedo now - not even stripes can hide it !

Mum2One - it's obviously one of those "row" times isn't it we've all been at it!! Men really don't appreciate how uncomfortable/frustrating these last few weeks/days are - all we can do is tell them & hope it gets through!! Hope you manage to get some rest (and support) today

I finished my tax return!!!! YAY! And without tears this time!! online submission done and everything (oh the relief!!!!)

Think the Rasp leaf tabs are kicking in as v uncomfortable BHs have started up again. LO still not showing any signs of moving southwards though so nothing to get excited about (unfortunately). 9 days to go - ho hum (I so wish I wasn't one of the last ones on the list - even with an induction booked!)
Off to find food. Hope you're all busy doing fabby things

iris66 · 14/01/2006 14:02

NotACow - sorry not ignoring you - wrote my post in phases & not really paying attention!!

Bet you are so relieved now that your nanny has gone (and how handy that your mum is a MW!!!!)

The yahoo site is here you have to register & get a yahoo e-mail address (but you don't have to actually use it. Look forward to seeing your pictures too!!

Mak · 14/01/2006 14:17

Have posted some photos eventually. Funny, can't find any of me. My mum will be arriving soon - I know she's got some on her camera. Will post those later.

Mum2OneAndBump · 14/01/2006 14:21

Lyra - Your little boy is gorgeous, he looks very content

Mak - Love your photos your little girl is also gorgeous & what a proud big sis

I have added some pics to the site, i could only add ones i have saved on my laptop so i will get some more later & try & add them of me now at 39+ weeks but ds is on there and baby scan etc. x

sweetkitty · 14/01/2006 14:28

Many congrataulations Mak we were worried about where you had got to. Your labour doesn't sound teh best but it's the end result that counts isn't it? Have you got a name for your DD yet?

HM - I'm still here too off out for a walk although probably get to the end of the street then the SPD will kick in and I'll have to head back. Also got clary sage bath planned, curry and who knows?

OP posts:
Mak · 14/01/2006 16:55

Sweetkitty - DD is Niamh (pronounced Nieve), so she'll go through life being asked how to pronounce and spell it, being a teacher you would think I would choose something that you can 'sound out' wouldn't you? It was DH's choice actually and he got very emotional over it, so how could I resist? Katie is loving being a big sister and is very proud. Hope your walk went Ok - good luck with clary sage etc.
M2OAB - your DS is soo cute!

Mum2OneAndBump · 14/01/2006 17:46

Evening all,

Mak - Ds looks very cute but can be a right cheeky little monkey, hes such a character now though.

Well i have been to morrisons shopping, added 2 pineapples to my trolley (there has to be some hope)

I have been doing my house work & washing changeing beds & all the boring stuff really, i so feel like my life is on hold waiting for this baby, i was not like this with ds but i seem to be worrying about going out, in case i go into labour, like waters breaking etc, maybe its because its second baby and they say they can come quicker? Maybe i am just stir crazy lol

So everyone has been a bit quiet? wondering how SK & hunker are getting on??

I am going to try & eat some pineapple no doubt i am going to get heart burn but i seem to get it anyway, always relying on my rennies!!!

I will pop back later to see for any updates

sweetkitty · 14/01/2006 18:28

Mak - once you had said Niamh I remembered, I know what you mean about spelling but my DD is Abbie and you should see the spellings we get for that. Still a lovely choice though. Will check out the pics in a minute.

M2OAB - know how you are feeling about second babies and playing this waiting game.

Notacow - glad you feel better about getting shot of the nanny don't think I would have liked her under my feet, although someone to do the cleaning and ironing would be nice right now.

Iris - good to see you too

Well have been for a walk and had clary sage bath and a nice shower, curry is on it's way and have instructed DP he has to do his duty this evening. Just had my Dad phone up to ask if theres any news yet as it's my due date? grrr I know it's nice of him to think of me but it's still annoying when people keep asking me if I'm still pregnant! Never had to endure this with DD.

One of my best mates is due on Monday and is feeling the same as most of us on here, she was 2 weeks over last time was induced and hated it, she so hopes to go naturally this time but her SPD is really bad that she may consider an induction very soon. Mine is bad but I can still get around.

OP posts:
MrsDoolittle · 14/01/2006 18:36

Well I am (hopefully) going to have a Rhuaridh!!
Do you know how that goes?

Good luck ladies!!

Tickle · 14/01/2006 19:11

Tickles story mark 1.:
down at the hospital at 4am on the 12th, and babies pulse is falling during contractions, so concern re where the umbilical cord is. Faxed pulse trace to mainland, whereafter Sea King helicopter arrives(!) and takes us to an enormously up-to-date hospital; from bed to bed takes 30 minutes.
Birth slow with numerous stabs at the little boys temple still sitting in the womb to assess his blood oxygen levels.
When he finally arrives, Tamsins womb keeps filling with blood, so spinal anaesthetic to remove remains of placenta!(2l. blood lost.)
Stayed the day in hospital and left the following (today) where Tamsin slept in a special cabin on the ferry, for just such occasions.
I went home to take care of the family, and T is staying a few days at the local hospital (quite pale).
Tamsin asked me to give all an update, and as my primary goal here in life is to satisfy my wife, I write and write.
yours DH.

sweetkitty · 14/01/2006 19:31

Thanks Mr Tickle, please pass on my best wishes to Tickle and I hope she is recovering well. Sounds like she had a hard time of it bless her.

Congratulations to you both and thanks for letting us know.

I was just thinking about her as I was doing an update. Do we have a name for your little man yet?

OP posts:
Eshay · 14/01/2006 19:34

Hi all,

I have known about the possibility of having a C-section all along as I had an emergency one last time so they don't really want me to walk around with too much pressure on the scar for too long. We agreed to a date at 41 weeks so I would have some time to have the baby naturally but not too long. So no surprises there. i really wouldn't mind too much. I am sure recovery from a planned Caesar is much quicker than from an emergency one after 32 hours of labour like last time. Still, since the MW said that baby is fully engaged and in a good position it all just might happen naturally - I have until the 27th. I am going to ask the MW for a sweep on Thursday and buy a pineapple tomorrow. We had curry tonight but since we eat spicy food all the time that's not going to shock my body into any action for sure.

All these rows happening at the moment. I guess everyone is truly fed up, eh? We're still okay but I never drive with DH in the car anyway. He always comments on how I drive and that makes me stubborn. I would have waited at the amber light too, SK, especially after a comment

Mak, thanks for posting your birth sotry. Too bad it didn't happen as you would have liked but it's great that you feel okay about it. Once the interventions start, things can just keep going like that. Great that you could tell the doc the baby was coming NOW and that she did! - after an epidural and all those other drugs.

NotaCow, LOL at expected posts about your mum doing your head in. At least then it's your mum and not the hired help. She'll be much more understanding and you'll be able to forget and forgive much easier afterwards

Huge congrats to Iris on finishing her tax return! A job well done at a time like this!

Thanks so much for posting, Tickles' husband! It sure sounds like quite a dramatic adventure. Helicopters are probably quite cool but not at a moment like that. I hope Tickle is doing better now and glad she is at the local hospital now so you can go and visit more easily. Bring back mum to help out!

Have a good night all xxx

Mum2OneAndBump · 14/01/2006 19:35

MrsDoolittle - Rory?!

I don't know how to say this, but I'm still f**king pregnant!!!! Feel like a total fraud!

Haven't had time to read all the posts and mad that I've missed all the excitement - massive massive congratulations to Georgie, Mak, Maman, Loomer and Lyra so happy for you, lovely names, can't wait to have a chance to read all the details and see the pics

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts (Lisa, I hope you have had Lola by now!) I'm going to CAT Iris (because you post loads and you're due a bit later in the month - sorry to mention it!) with my mobile number - hopefully if she texts me her number I can let you know when this little man appears (walking and talking at this rate!).

In a nutshell (a coconut shell... ) I saw my consultant on Monday and my bp was way up, protein in urine, swelling etc, v sudden (but I was feeling v stressed) and he thought with symptoms of pre-eclampsia at 5 days over I should go in asap to be induced. Had very tearful wobbles but went in thinking it was for the best for baby. Had 6 (YES 6!!!) doses of prostin from Monday to Friday - absolutely nothing! both antenatal ward and labour ward heaving full, women popping all over the place (really fed up of listening to other women in labour! , me? nothing... actually my bishops score (favourability for induction) did go up from 4 to 6 but no further (basically, central cervix, soft, 1-2 cm) if I could get to a score of 7 (2-3 cm dilated) they could break my waters and possibly shift him with a drip (don't really want that either but better than a section). Bp up and down and protein remaining (not surprising considering stress and heat of hospital) but saw consultant yesterday and he said I shouldn't have more than 6mg prostin without a break so today they let me out at lunchtime after some monitoring to return at 9am tomorrow to start again! Of course, now I'm 11 days over so running out of time - seems like the past week has been a total waste of time! Really I just needed daily monitoring me - however, it's a bit late now.

I must have a cervix of steel to not respond to 6 pessaries! This baby ain't ready! The consultant said he wouldn't even consider a c-section unless another course failed (or the baby gets distressed) as I have had 3 successful vaginal deliveries - so I guess that gives me till next Wednesday

Really good vibes to all - I hope next time I post I have better news! Must get those PJs washed - have had sex once since I got home (maybe squeeze another session in - god have I missed dp!) had chilli for lunch (and guinness) and dp now gone for a vindaloo! drastic measures now... This time I'm really not coming home without a baby!

Rach69 · 14/01/2006 19:44

Mr Tickle - crossed that post - massive congratulations to you all - what a drama - hope everything is ok now.

iris66 · 14/01/2006 20:52

Hey Rachey!!! long time no see!!!!
You poor thing what a week you've had! I always thought boys were supposed to come early !? ( a friend reckons they can't wait to get out then spend the rest of their lives trying to get back in!! - clearly a load of balls!!) No wonder you're p$$$$d off! No problem re posting for you (think I've finally found my calling ). Will look out for your CAT & text you when I've got it. Hope you have a bit of nice chilled time over the weekend!

Congratulations to Tickle and Tickle's DH!!!! but what a nightmare there too! Thanks for posting and please send Tickle loads of love and hugs for a speedy recovery.

Hope Lisa's had an easier time and that we hear from her soon...

am now going CAT hunting x

hunkermunker · 14/01/2006 20:56

Just read Mr Tickle's post (that makes him sound like a round orange man with long arms!) - what a superb chap you sound! Huge congratulations to you all - hope Tickle's feeling 100% again very soon.

Rachey - oh, you poor thing - what a time you've had! Really hope that this baby is here soon as anything - you must be very comfy (for the baby, I understand all about not being comfy yourself!).

I'm still here (obv!) - had some strong BHs this morning but nothing since - when I had the BHs I thought "Oh, crap, this isn't even labour and it hurts too much!" I've turned into a total wuss since I had DS!
