hello all -

have been too emotional/hormonal to post for last few days, and catching up is impossible! so many posts !

congrats to those with babes in arms - georgina, am so happy for you and please dont apologise to anyone for head being in pieces...er, my head was in pieces for MONTHS after Archie arrived and turned me from plain old me into Mama (sharpest damn learning curve of my life!) Just takes a while to assimilate it all and get used to massive changes etc.

am trying to avoid friday 13th, and think i'll make it -no real sign of activity yet but am pretty busy trying to organise total refurb and massive extension project of my house, which helps take my mind off it.

a pal of mine just had her first, a baby girl called Sophia after a 3day marathon in hosp [gasp!] poor thing. they took her in to induce at 42 weeks and apparently took that long... she sounds pretty chirpy tho, considering, and am really looking forward to popping myself so i can drive down (she lives a coupla hours away) and hear all about it.

so im off to take my rollercoaster-ing hormones to bed, but sending you all happy loving vibes and hoping you are all well and stuff.

come on babies! out you come now!

iris66 · 11/01/2006 23:05

Hiya peeps - just got in & couldn't resist a quick peek to see the news. Had a fab night but everyone slightly puddled now (oh sweet memories!!) so thought we'd come away.

Georgie - welcome home!!!!!!! Thanks for posting your beautiful pictures - Libby is just gorgeous and Mollie looks as pleased as punch with her little sis - you must be soooo proud!!! (pauses to wipe a little tear whilst grinnning inanely) Can't wait to join you but this LO's in no rush at all (not even engaged yet!)

Mak - CONGRATULATIONS!!! - hope you're resting and enjoying your lovely daughter to the full!
Naimh is a lovely name (my DD has an irish name too). Look forward to hearing how it all went & seeing the piccies!!

We're getting some really good weights here now aren't we!

Rachey/Lisa - hope you're both ok - can't wait to hear from you too

Must go & find some sleep now as I'm utterly knackered. Wishing a restful night & productive morning to all that need them xx

LOOMER · 11/01/2006 23:08

Congratulations Mak! And welcome to the world, Niamh... We were wondering what had become of you - in the hospital for three days afterwards? Doesn't sound like fun... you just concentrate on getting some rest now!

Georgie! Well done for posting, photos and all - Liberty looks like a gorgeous little chubster, and so pleased that DD1 is besotted. Can't even begin to imagine what seven hours of breastfeeding is like... and am amazed at your labour!! I know we none of us want it to drag on forever, but dilating that quickly cannot be fun. Hope the soreness eases up soon - did you have an episiotomy? Lots of arnica, eh?

Anyone else noticed that we haven't heard anything from Hunkermunker since yesterday lunchtime?!?.... hmmmm....

Tickle · 12/01/2006 02:39

off to hosp -wish me luck

lyra41 · 12/01/2006 03:07

Good luck Tickle!
I've started contracting again, nothing unmanageable, but enough to wake me up and cause me to think that "things" are on the move again. contrs all died down again at about 10pm and i went to bed and to sleep, but they've been keeping me awake for the past hour, so i've got up, woken dh and called my mum. hope it's not yet another false alarm!

dh wants to start vacuuming the rugs, and i must admid i'd quite like to sweep the kitchen in between contrs, there's nothing quite like nesting at the last minute!

the dog and cat also seem to think that i'm in labour, the cat came and got in bed with me (unheard of usually), purring away and "kneading" the bedclothes with her claws, and generally being most uncharacteristically friendly and loving. the dog just came and sat near me in a comforting way.

will keep you posted if i can.

Chuffed · 12/01/2006 03:33

Congrats Georgie and Mak will have a look at piccys when I get a moment.
Good luck Tickle and lyra sounds like you are on your way too.
Take care everybody!

lyra41 · 12/01/2006 05:59

thick and fast now, about 2 mins apart. midwife on way. kids in bed.

lyra41 · 12/01/2006 07:31

kids off to school now. labour has slowed now, but i think that's because the kids were getting up. i'll have another bath soon and that should get things going again.

iris66 · 12/01/2006 07:34

keeping everything crossed for you Lyra!! [smile}

iris66 · 12/01/2006 08:19

Lyra - thinking of you...... hope everything's progressing quickly (but clamly) for you - and for Tickle - OOOH Hospital ! - GOOD LUCK!!!! Can't wait to hear your news!!

Sweetkitty - the update's starting to fill up isn't it!!! (don't forget spangles - 7 Jan (Rosa?))

Loomer - sounds like things are on the move for you too now!! I seem to have a "keep clear" sign in my bowels too but I my LO isn't staying down so don't think much is happening here. There are a fair few we've not heard of in a while isn't there (and I don't think I've ever seen sarah (due 1Jan)?!)

Chuffed - nice to see you're still around - how's it going? (can't believe Brook is over 3 weeks old already!!)

NotAcow - bet you're pleased you have a distraction aren't you seems like everyone's likely to be on the postnaltal thread for weeks before we get there!! (11 days to go!!)

iris66 · 12/01/2006 08:21

clamly?!?! calmly, IN A CALM FASHION !!! YKWIM

iris66 · 12/01/2006 08:31

Calm, however, is not how I feel this morning with all this excitement!!

I really wish we knew how the others got on too - Maman, Rachy, Lisa ????

sweetkitty · 12/01/2006 08:40

Morning all firstly no news here, thought things might have been kicking off about midnight last night but was erm just my stomach clearing out!!

Lyra - hope those contractions have picked up again and aren't on/off.

notacow - I'm trying to avoid Friday the 13th too but at this rate I'll have no worries.

Iris - glad you had a good night out. Have I completely missed Spangles announcement????

Tickle - best of luck for the hospital.

Hope everyone else who hasn't posted for a while is doing well.

I know what I did now I was waiting for Spangles to announce the name as I think Rosa was a name her DS had given the baby. Stats are filling up nicely now wonder if I'll get to update it today

OP posts:
iris66 · 12/01/2006 08:47

Sweetkitty - spangles' post was on 8th jan at 1.05pm but we didn't hear that she was in labour which may be why it didn't click. i only spotted it 'cos I was looking to see who we'd not heard from in a while . Our number are getting fewer by the day!!

iris66 · 12/01/2006 08:50

Reckon you'll be able to add at least 1 more by the end of today

iris66 · 12/01/2006 08:51

if not 2!!! come on girls... PUUUUUUUSH!!!!

sweetkitty · 12/01/2006 09:01

I remember now (these hormones!!!) but was waiting for the official announcement before updating the thread.

So what we at - 4 GIRLS 1 BOY so far! Need some more boys to even things up.

I do hope we have some more by the end of the day c'mon babies!!!!!!

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 12/01/2006 09:03

I'm waiting for our double buggy to arrive today do you think I'll have 2 babies to fill it????

(live in hope, live in hope)

OP posts:
LOOMER · 12/01/2006 09:06

Oh Tickle - I know you probably won't see this now, but we will be thinking of you today, and hoping to hear some good news soon!

Lyra - how exciting! Sounds like you've beaten all threat of induction now... hope your peaceful homebirth is well under way, thinking of you lots too.

Sweetkitty - I notice that Lisa isn't on the stats list? But I guess there's not much point in you posting another list until we've had an update anyhow... Anyhow, hope you're having a more peaceful morning with DD. I am in total admiration of all you mum's who have little ones running about the place - I really can't imagine how you cope!
