Hi Tickle - your mum had to go. Looks like we all need to get together to send you & Lyra lots of big contraction vibes today

sweetkitty · 11/01/2006 09:01

Morning all as always nothing to report here poor DP has a big presentation at work today so was hoping to get out of it but alas DD2 not playing ball.

Tickle/Lyra - your shows sound really promising at least the signs are there.

Lyra - I would go for some acupuncture why not?

Tickle - sorry to hear about your mum going, when will she be able to make it back after babe is here? No one has phoned me in about 3 days think they are deliberately staying away!!

Iris - enjoy your little soirie tonight.

Feeling completely exhausted today DD1 is being a little madam today she keeps doing things that require me to get up and see to her so I never feel like I'm sitting down for more than 5 mins. I know she's only 17 mo and is only a baby. The weather is horrible here too so don't even feel like going for a walk.

Sorry moan over hope all the girls that have had their babies are doing well. C'mon want some announcements!

Tickle
just checked how many days it is since your show started - sat - and now we're on weds. doesn't give me a lot of hope! still, as everyone says, he's definitely on the way, he can't stay in there for ever!
sorry your lo couldn't come in time for your mum to see him, but hopefully that means she'll be back in the not too distant future?

SK
sympathy coming your way with another baby to care for when you need all the tlc in the world atm. at least in keeping you active, she should ensure that labour starts as soon as poss.

Eshay · 11/01/2006 10:23

Good morning all,

Well, nothing to report here either. I had another bad night's sleep and so did DH. Poor guy was so fed up that he went to work at 5am! We're both a little bit ill. No fever or anything, but just a sore throat and blocked nose and general aching all over. I sure hope it goes away soon as it's not really the ideal way to start labour. I am so thankful that Thomas goes to nursery 4 days a week so I have plenty of time to sit and feel sorry for myself. My thoughts are with you, SK. I am always so happy when the weekend is over and the nursery opens its doors again. And I always have a lot of help from DH.

I'm hoping to go for a walk later today but I am just feeling much too lethargic. All I want to do is lie on the sofa and snooze but then I worry about how that will affect my sleep tonight - a bit of a viscious circle.

How are people going for stretchmarks? LAst time they only appeared after I had gone overdue. I was so pissed off! I'm not sure I have gained any new ones yet but the old ones are definitely more visible. No linea negra this time for me. I quite liked having one last time, such a pregnancy thing to have.

hotmama · 11/01/2006 13:07

We've had a birth in the Feb thread - so you will get a new member in your post-natal group. I'll let her post the details!

Eshay · 11/01/2006 13:29

Oh wow! That is exciting. I bet the lady in question wasn't expecting to pop this soon! We're not even halfway in January! Hope everything is all right and thanks for letting us know, hotmama.

Mum2OneAndBump · 11/01/2006 13:35

Afternoon ladies,

Tickle/lyra - your shows sound like things could start up in the next couple of days, got my fingers crossed for you both

Sweetkitty - Hope your feeling ok this afternoon, i had a abd day yesterday but felt a bit better last night, i know what you mean about not being able to sit down for 5 mins ds is the same, hes actually 3.4 years but still has me running about after him & is even more bossier now, kids huh?
It must be hard for you with a 17mth old do you have her all day everyday? ds goes to nursery now 5 mornings a week so that is very very nice, he had the day off yesterday as was very ill but has purked up this morning so i toke him to nursery, hes just tired.

Well me & dp toke the plunge last night & had a bit of bedroom action to see if that would start anything (actually can not really call it "action" as such but dp understands lol
Also been eating pineapple but nothing seems to be happening, had some very bad pains in my lower stomach this morning that toke my breath away when i was driving ds to nursery & i thought oh this is it, but they stoped as usual! I was gutted to say the least!

Oh well a week tomorrow, i don't mind waiting if i really really have to, the sooner the better but i really don't want to go overdue that is a drag, but we will see.

I am going to try & rest this afternoon been busy all morning but will be back later to see if theres any updates.......

Oh & someone from the Feb thread has given birth i totally them and i am jealous i must go & see who it was.

xxxx

sweetkitty · 11/01/2006 13:56

hi all MW just been, all's well with me and the baby she's just stubborn. She was telling me about another one of her homebirth ladies who had her baby at 37 weeks last night, first timer and a 4 hour labour that was me last time.

Feeling a bit better this afternoon thanks, yes M2OAB I have DD all day every day and usually it's great but she has just discovered how to open the cabinet where the DVD/Sky boxes are and I'm constantly having to tell her off or get up and distract her. Nearly time for her nap so I'll get a lie down too.

Eshay - hope you are feeling better soon. I know I shouldn't say this but I don't have any stretchmarks sorry. Although this one is a lot bigger than DD1 so who knows if I go overdue, don't think I can stretch anymore. I do have a little linea nigra too quite proud of it.

Tickle - any news?

Hiya

Gosh its compulsive viewing on this thread!

just got back from hosp, had to wait for ages, then got monitored, contractions coming regularly, but prob just BH. baby fine, everything else fine, but have to see consultant re. induction on fri . apparently tho he's a very flexible and reasonable guy and will be led by what i want, so hopefully won't induce me without very good reason.

iris
how did your monitoring go?

keep wondering about Rach, hope she's ok and has her lovely boy in her arms at last.

sweetkitty · 11/01/2006 17:21

Hi Lyra glad everythings OK good news about the consultant what are you going to do go for the induction? My thoughts are leave it the weekend and see what happens? Fingers crossed you will go before then though.

I'm feeling a bit lonely in here today after all the posting everyone else has gone off to have babies

Managed to have a lovely little sleep this afternoon and have just made DD (or me ) some fairy cakes!

OP posts:
lyra41 · 11/01/2006 17:37

SK
I don't want to be induced unless it's really nec. ie. if baby's in distress, coz it means i won't be able to have a home birth. so i'm hoping he will come by himself. currently having contractions 10 mins apart, but not very strong or long, so hoping they'll hot up as the evening passes.
glad you had a good rest this pm, make the most of them!

sweetkitty · 11/01/2006 17:42

Yea I'm the same Lyra but MW said it is very unlikely I will need to be induced.

It does sound good if you are having regular contractions though even if they are not that strong, keep active and hopefully they will pick up.

I'll be logging on first thing in the morning to see if you've popped.

Hi all. Meant to post earlier but fell asleep for 2 hours. out in an hour & not eatemn yet so have to be a quickie (!)

CTG went well but BP borderline so they got a doc up to see me (causing last BP to go through the roof - funny ol' thing!!) Luckily he said all ok & didn't think it was pre eclampsia as no protein in wee etc but I have to go back for another round next wed. Hot footed it straight to my homeopath & got some nice strong remedies to kick me off if induction looks really likely (sepia (10m) & pulsatilla (1m)) but she said that if he's not ready they wont work

Lyra/Tickle - will be thinking of you & hope things pick up

Hope everyone else manages to have a decent nights rest tonight.

gotta run - DH just dished up - hugs all round - iris xx

LOOMER · 11/01/2006 18:53

Hello everybody!

No action here either. I've been having period-like aches with my BHs for the past four days - got quite excited at first, but now realised that it doesn't mean anything is about to kick off! Had lots of bits of really thick gunky discharge (comes and goes) over the past week, and am now wondering if that could be a slow show?? Have also had 'loose bowels' (as my mother would say) today, so am of course reading far too much into that too!!

Decided not to take any further action to hurry things along until after the weekend, once I've hit due date. Then it'll be Clary Sage a-go-go (doesn't sound like it's made of a difference to anyone here though)...

I also really feel like the baby is waaaay down now - can feel all kinds of little twitching movements right downstairs (sorry if TMI!)... oh please let this be a good sign .

Lyra and Tickle - really hope things move along for you both soon, I can't imagine how frustrated you must both be by now.

Sweetkitty - don't feel too lonely - there's still lots of us lurking (and looming) around playing the waiting game still...

M21AB - love your description of the bedroom 'action'! Surely a pain that takes your breath away has got to be significant?? Such a shame that they haven't continued. Mind you, I've been getting pains which shortly afterwards turn out to be trapped wind !

Well, just had an email from a friend who also had some bleeding late in her last pregnancy... apparently the docs said that they think it might have been because the cord was wrapped around the baby's neck, and she was tugging on it, and therefore pulling the placenta away. Now THAT's a reassuring thing to tell me! Think I'll just mentally block that little piece of information out!!

Ooooh, hope we hear from Rachel and/or Lisa soon...
And am I being dopey, or are we still awaiting news from Maman and Mak?

Iris - hope the birthday soiree is fun - good effort from you I think!

Mum2OneAndBump · 11/01/2006 20:27

Evening everyone,

Thought i would pop in and have a look! This is so addictive, i leave the Laptop on, on the table & keep coming back for a quick nose I am addicted, i mya as well make the most of it now as i am sure i will not have much time when baby arrives!

Had nothing much happening here, all seems quiet & no more pains, felt bit sick about 5.30pm but had a lie on the sofa for 15 mins and some water & perked up a bit!

LOOMER - I honestly thought the pains i was having in the car this morning were the start, i was shocked when they stopped, i was sitting at the traffic lights & thought oh no i can't put my foot on the acelerater cause the pain was quite bad. I made it to my mums & she toke ds into nursery for me while i sat down for a bit (she lives 2 doors down from ds's nursery)

Well i had a nice sleep this afternoon from around 2 till 4pm which has done be the world of good i am feeling tired again now though so probably have a nice hot bath & then off to bed for me, gonna be a saddo & watch BB i am addicted to that to, think its bordem

Sending you all contraction vibes for tonight.

Can not wait to hear how Rahcey & Lisa are getting on i really do hope everything is ok & they did not have to much of a bad time, hope there holding there babies now & cherishing those moments, oooh i can't wait for my baby to come

Not sure about Mak or Mama have not heard anything i don't think, must read the thread back to see as my memory is very bad right now

Take Care & i will be here tomorrow no doubt. x

lyra41 · 11/01/2006 20:29

hello girlies

well i'm contracting away here, but unsure whether or not it's just BH, as i haven't really had any so far. i've put the tens machine on anyway, figuring it won't do any harm, and it's good practice. i'm also doing my yoga breathing each time contraction comes.

really not sure if this is the start of labour. you'd think i'd know after 2 other labours, but it's still a mystery.

loomer
you're right, we're still waiting for news from Maman and Mak, i guess they're a bit too busy to post.

Mum2OneAndBump · 11/01/2006 20:36

Oh Lyra how exciting, send me some of your contraction vibes this way please

How long have you been having them? is there a pattern? How long do they last etc?

Sorry i am being nosy, i love all this its so exciting. Go & walk up and down the stairs that should help things along

Goodluck x

GeorginaP · 11/01/2006 20:48

Hi all. Just got a min to post. Will catch up with everything tomorrow when I have a bit more time.

Libby is doing well. She's a real guzzler and seems to have sucked me dry. DH is a FANTASTIC dad. And DD1 is totally besoted with DD2.

Nightmare first night home (last night). Libby decided to wake up at midnight and not go back to sleep until 7am...... she fed on and off for all that time and I really thought my nipples were going to fall off! Thank god my mum and dad are here and me and DH could go for a sleep this afternoon.

As you know my labour was v fast.... bit scary actually. Woke at 1am with bad pains every five mins. By 1.20 they were every 3 mins. Got to hospital at 1.45 and used gas and air. 6 cm by 3am and got into pool. Went from 6 to 10cm in 15 mins. 3.15, water broke and all hell let loose. Dragged me out of pool at 3.20ish as DD2 heartbeat going down..... but only after managed to poo in pool....twice .

Pushed and bellowed like a water buffalo for half an hour and then she came out. Bloody bloody painful. Feel totally battered. Sore as hell now.

Next time we are getting a dog

Will try and post pics on yahoo site.

Hope everyone else really well and that those with contractions keep going, and those that haven't get some soon....

Sorry, crappy post. But head all over the place!

Loads of love to you all.

G xx

Tickle · 11/01/2006 20:50

Hi lyra - sounds good I'm getting a few more 'draggy' pains low down too, which dh & I are taking as a good sign. Let's say it together:

"Come on out now babies ".
I think the 12th Jan has a good ring to it

DS (5) went today to the 'signing up' at our local school, where he will start after the summer in kindergarten class. He was given coloured pencils and a 'workbook' to bring home - so proud! Big sis immediately commandeered it to look out, which made him swell with pride even more.

Anyway, 'after the summer' must have been on his mind, cos he said, out of nowhere "our baby will have arrived after the summer won't it". dh & exchanged that look that says 'I bloody well hope so' and I explained that it should be in the next few days but that babies come when they are ready.

To which he replied "that's right, when they have got their clothes and nappies on and everything". Bless!

Only downer on the day was that my mum lost her suitcase at gatwick - thinks someone has taken the wrong one by mistake Just what she didn't need

Anyway, concentrating hard on those contraction vibes for everyone - good luck

Tickle · 11/01/2006 20:55

ooh cross posted with Georgie!! Well done for posting so soon - sounds like you're having a totally loved up time with your lovely family there Apart from the all-nighter it sounds like it's going really well - fab that dd1 is in love... and tell dh we all knew he was going to be a fab dad from the way he looks after you

take it easy
t

ps remember that puppy poo smells worse than baby poo!!!

sweetkitty · 11/01/2006 21:14

lyra - so excited for you hope it's quick not and by tomorrow morning you have a wee baby in your arms, good luck thinking of you tonight.

tickle - good to see you too hopefully you won't be too much longer either, I'm with you on the 12th January

Iris - hope you are having a good one tonight.

Loomer - I've just had a double dose clary sage bath and going to rub some more on bump tonight. As your a first timer your bump should drop a few days before labour as the head engages although I don't remember it from last time. I feel like my hoo haa is at my knees each day.

Georgie - great to hear from you and that Libby is doing really well. Your labour sounds good but fast is painful at least it's all over with now honey and well worth it. Can't wait to see pics of your beautiful little one.

Hope to hear from Rach, Lisa, Mak and Maman tomorrow as well as Lyra who will have a lovely homebirth tonight and Tickle and I will go into labour and have our babies tomorrow morning and be over with in time for lunch. Oh and M2OAB and Loomer could join us in having our babies on 12th January if they wish.

Thinking of you all good nights sleep to us all
