Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NotAcow · 08/01/2006 18:52

oh youre all so wonderful, thanks for welcoming me!

am not usually so pathetic,i promise feel a little like my heads been taken over by aliens for the last few days but know myself well enough (and this stage of pregnancy too, its the third time in 3 years after all!!) to be aware that i'm not actually having a breakdown but am just at the mercy of hormonal rollercoaster and (ever so slightly) desperate need to GIVE BLOODY BIRTH and get it over with. just like every1 else on here then!

its wierd really coz i want it out the way, but i also want to savour it as i think this is my last and i've ALWAYS wanted a lovely home birth and so im just slightly anxious that i get it this time. no real justification for anxiusoness (sp???) just being para. doubt i'll get to savour anything tho as am prone to slightly rapid labours, as have mentioned on other threads. will definately savour being at home immediately after tho and having my gorgeous other 2 boys come and coo over the baby straight away and sleep in my own bed with new baby and dp from the very first night....ahhhh, cant wait.

youre right tho iris, we'll be the last ones on the thread to do it, us and podsley and pos PPH too... guess we better get used to reading about all these lovely babies for the next few weeks b4 we finally get to post our own good news

iris66 · 08/01/2006 18:53

I've had the same worry HM - All the births in our family seem to have happened in "day of the week" order - the next should be a friday! That said, DH was a Fri 13th & he's very lucky!(after all, he's got me! )

Have you noticed how there doesn't seem to be anyone left on the Dec thread now? Looks like we've reached pole position!!

hunkermunker · 08/01/2006 18:57

Bit daunting, isn't it, Iris! Mind you, I avoided April 1st for DS by two days, so fingers crossed I'll do the same with Friday 13th!

Welcome, NotACow, to the clary sage and shagging thread

iris66 · 08/01/2006 18:58

clary sage..... >> just hope I don't get that desparate!!!

iris66 · 08/01/2006 19:03

HM - are they going to let you go over your date (re GD)or do you have an induction booked? (they booked mine for exactly 40 weeks (23rd))

Mum2OneAndBump · 08/01/2006 19:05

Welcome NotaCow i am sure you will enjoy yourself on this mad thread

Oh no not Friday the 13th ! I was bron on Friday the 13th My dad always used to tell me i was the special one cause i used to get upset about it

Well it will probably be me giving birth on the 13th knowing my luck (i have no luck)

iris66 · 08/01/2006 19:08

Mum2One - my family used to tell me I was "special" but for an entirely different reason lol
(sorry, that was sooo unpc but I couldn't help myself - the baby made me do it lol!

iris66 · 08/01/2006 19:09

must be the wine - or missing DD

Tickle · 08/01/2006 19:19

iris have you heard from dd or is she not allowed to contact home while tramping about or whatever she's doing??

No movement here - yawn - but made curry tonight (not spicy enough methinks). Not sure I can summon up the energy for all fours later tho!

Nice to see everyone so chatty - now we just want a bit of action

iris66 · 08/01/2006 19:23

Hi Tickle - she had to leave her phone so no contact at all - but should be home by 5pm tomorrow. Can't wait
Maybe your turn tonight for laborious vibes!! will keep em crossed!

GeorginaP · 08/01/2006 19:27

Tee hee. Love reading this thread.

Makes me giggle like crazy...although not too much as don't want to leak anymore than I have to .

DH watching footie and v happy as Spurs are 1-0 up.

Mumfun - can you tell me who your reflexologist was, oh and their phone number please. Would like to book a session with her too!

Ha ha, finally managed to get onto yahoo. Lisa, you look lovely, and if that's your definition of frizzy hair, you should see mine after a warm bath!! And how cute are the baby pics?

Got swollen calfs and BH tonight. Can't get comfy. Think Beany must be coming down as everytime I sit down on the sofa get BH..... or it could be trapped wind!!!!!

Oh, and I once told my mum that I thought I was dyslexic (prob age 9 or something). Her reply? 'No my love, you're just thick' Ahhh, the wonderful parenting that we got in the 1970's........

G xx

GeorginaP · 08/01/2006 19:30

And, what's the betting that those of us that are due on or around the 12th actual give birth on 13th?

There isn't a full moon that night as well is there? [grin}

Mum2OneAndBump · 08/01/2006 19:50

Still can't see the pics

Eshay · 08/01/2006 20:04

Evening one and all,

No, I have no news about popping yet. I just don't havemuch time to log on Fri-Sun as I have DS to care for. We've had a nice few days though. TOday was a bit boring with it being wet out but T still had a good time throwing all the little baby socks all over the lounge floor. I still have no huge urges to clean the whole house. I hoovered the downstairs the other day and thought that was enough for the rest of the week. I much prefer taking naps

Welcome back Georgie. I am glad you did not have you baby in the meantime and we all kept fairly quiet until you got your new computer.

I find it funny to read about various people wanting to eat a hot curry but being unable to actualy do it or feeling horrible afterwards. We eat curry all the time and I have no problems with it. I suppose the drawback of that is that no spicy food will start any contractions for me as my body is so used to it. I never eat pineapple though so I'll go and buy one next week. That might cause a stir. Please note I'm not going to do that until next week. I still don't feel too desperate so I think I am very lucky. I suppose I am feeling this weay because DS was 2 weeks overdue and I hated the wait. This time I've told myself that I will be late again so I'm not too focussed on my due date. I do understand how horrible some of you must be feeling. The last bit can be much worse than the first bit where you're constantly sick.

It's so excitig to read about waters going and shows appearing. I can't wait to hear about the arrivals of some new babies. Many congrats Spangles!

Thanks for sharing stories about wet knickers. I sometimes have a bit of that too so it's good to know I'm not alone. I have done hardly any pelvic floor exercises this time around so I'm bound to be in trouble. I think of it sometimes but I just can't be bothered, really. How lazy is that?!

Rach, you saying about your belly button aching made me think of my Thomas. He loves racing into the bathroom to see what I'm doing (can you blame him, I'm there every half hour) and he loves to pat my belly. He has now decided that my belly button is an eye!

BBWBabeLisa · 08/01/2006 20:14

My best mate, and soon to be godmother to Lola, is paranoid about Friday the 13th. As soon as she gets her new diary at work each year she goes thru to find how many there will be that year and immediately books leave so that she doesn't have to leave the house. Last year however someone had pipped her to the post and there was one Fri 13th she couldn't book off so she had to go into work. Since then (according to her) she has had an unending string of bad luck. She is now begging me to hold off pushing Lola out til Fri (might be asking a bit much from a Tuesday night induction!) as she's convinced herself that something so good happening on that day will break her run of bad luck.

No pressure then!

hunkermunker · 08/01/2006 20:28

Iris, I'm due on 14th and have my 41-week appointment on 17th - the consultant was happy to let me go that far over, but I think I'll be hauled in sharpish for induction after that.

NotAcow · 08/01/2006 20:45

ok, so have taken babelisas very practical advice and made notes as i have read this evening, so now have a stupidly long post to make. lucky you lot, eh??

iris - is clary sage really that bad? the little pot i have was given to me by the mw's at the BU i was at last time when i was about 40 wks (and waiting)and it doesnt smell bad at all... do you think they may have slipped me a placebo??

cant believe all the people saying theyre off sex... have been sooooo horny lately i have to keep sneaking off upstairs to flick the bean . will definately be getting dp to service me later (gently of course, gotta mind the SPD as think the whatever it is in the sperm which ripens you up can only be a good thing that is, if i can tear him away from the footie!! mind you, he should be happy as tottenham just lost...

georginaP - [gasp] at your mum!

iris, where is dd, and how old is she? nosey, i know

Eshay- does anyone ever remember to do pelvic floor exercises?? my mum (the mw) is always rolling her eyes at me for not doing them, but honestly, 10 times a day? im lucky if i remember to do them10 times a month! so i guess i'll go around smelling like an old bag lady b4 long . still, at least i wont smell myself coz i'll be used to it!

And with ref to the belly button - mine now sticks out so much that Max, my current youngest (18mo) has decided that its my willy!! bloody cheek

BabeLisa - BF is clearly a little unstable [joking, you know that right?] but Lola is a gorgeous name. wish i had a use for girls names... alas i am heading for a house full of stinky socks in about 15 years but wouldnt change my boys for the world. mind you, ask me that again in 15 years!

sweetkitty · 08/01/2006 21:17

wow everytime I come in here it takes me 10 minutes to catch up!!

Eshay - the story about Thomas and the toilet makes me laugh, Abbie loves getting me the loo paper and has started to try and wipe my bits and pieces for me too bless her, she loves the bump too and is always pulling my top up to cuddle and kiss my belly. Went to the loo today and there was a gingerbread man drowning in there, you just got to laugh.

Notacow - know what you mean about weak bladders and so glad it's not just me that's suffering. Was gutted the other day when I thought it was my waters going and it wasn't.

Iris - I've heard all these scare stories about clary sage but no one has told me why it is so bad? Not that it matters as it's not working here anyway. Sorry notacow but it is horrible.

Georgie - at your mum, mine phoned me today (whilst DD was napping at woke her) anyway her first words were "is anything happening?" I said yes "baby is crowning" of course nothing is happening. Think I was a bit off with her today but we don't really get on anyway. She said "I want a phonecall sharpish I'll be along in an hour!" not asking or anything I said "well no actually I want at least 2 days to recover so no visitors" she wasn't happy but has decided she's coming on Day 2 now, will try and stall her. When DD was born we were still in London so e-mailed first pics of DD to her to which she said "oh she's fat and ginger" my beautiful baby how could anything weighing 6lbs 3ozs be fat. And she's always telling me DD looks like some really ugly family member, OK going to shut up about my mother now, sorry bit of a rant.

Have just realised Friday is Friday the 13th eek! One of us is bound to pop on that day now.

Anyway away for a hot choccie with cream, some celeb BB (I know can't help myself car crash tv), a clary sage bump rub and some nookie (maybe!)

OP posts:
iris66 · 08/01/2006 21:22

Georgie - full moon is 0948 on 14th so 13th-15th is looking pretty favourable

Eshay - think you have a point about curry/pineapple not working if you're used to spicy/high roughage food. A friend of mine ate 2 whole pineapples in 1 sitting and it still did nothing!! So glad that T is back to his old self now too.

Lisa - BF is mad suggest swap of BF for more sane model to protect Lola from possible infection of said madness and reduce need for frantic leg crossing on Tuesday!

Hunkermunker - to be fair, I'm glad I'm not going to be going over 40 weeks (but I know I'll fret I don't spontaneously pop by 39 - a week tomorrow (eek!))

NotACow - re clary sage - merely a personal thing, I just can't stand the smell (I don't like lavender either) must have a v sensitive nose . DD is 17 & on a w/e outward bounds type thing camping in sleety/snowy Derbyshire in preparation (?!?!)for a month long trip to warm/humid Vietnam in the summer where she (and a load of other kids) will do charity work in remote villages.

Think I've come down off my sugar high now (knew the mince pies/cream were a bad idea after a huge dinner ) Off to have a relaxing bath. Nighty night [wink}

hotmama · 08/01/2006 21:41

I am so loving reading your posts - I am so excited for you girls - makes it seem closer for us on the Feb06 thread - I am 37 weeks today.

Just a quickie (no pun intended) what do you do with your clary sage - have a bath in it, sniff it etc?

hunkermunker · 08/01/2006 21:56

Feeling quite period-painy and uncomfortable...surely I couldn't have this baby on the day DH wanted - ie tomorrow?!

Nah, I'll still be here in a week, I know I will!

Clary sage is an essential oil - you can sniff it, use drops in the bath or use it as a massage oil (NOT neat on the skin, diluted with a carrier oil such as sweet almond).

lyra41 · 08/01/2006 22:10

hunker

sounds encouraging, hope the morning brings more news.

my lo is very active and doesn't seem to be doing the calm before the storm bit, in fact i think he's got hiccups (again!).

off to bed now, so nite nite all, and happy contracting. xx

hunkermunker · 09/01/2006 00:28

Seems to have died down again now - who knows though!

Have decided if I go into labour in the night, DH will stay with DS and my mum will come to hospital with me - she was going to be there anyway and was there when DS was born - she's fab. May mean DH misses the birth, but I'd been worrying about moving DS in the night (well, we both had) and I feel really relieved that we've decided this. DH will try to be there, obv, but think this is the best way to do it.

Chuffed · 09/01/2006 03:12

Just wanted to say Congrats Spangles and hope this means positive news HM.
Have been feeling absolutely shattered lately off to have haemoglobin and iron levels checked tomorrow.
Brook has slept from 11.30-7.30 two nights in a row so may more of that continue, he is only just 2wks old. Seems relatively laid back so far and is getting better and better at the feeding thing.

Rach69 · 09/01/2006 05:01

Morning all! Can't flipping sleep. Tried our best to drive the little fella out last night (in every position!) but he's not budged. Great to read all your posts, sounds like there's lots of rumbling! but I can't think of much new to say! Just wanted to let you know I was still here. Hosp 41 week appointment later.
