Rach69 · 08/01/2006 11:53

Hope so Georgie! Sorry you're feeling so fed up - we all know exactly how you feel (especially with the sick ). I will cry if my cervix is solid tomorrow. Policies (as ever - damn lottery postcode) will vary depending on the hosptial - ours is a 41 week appointment with date for induction after 10-11 days overdue (luckily a weekend for me so should get till the MOnday 16th - 12 days.) I'd ask your doctor, they should know that at least.

Hmm sex.. (look away now if of delicate disposition...) we can only do one position now. (I'd kill him on top and spoons is just impossible for some reason!) Only all fours left now! (watch out for heartburn )

Keep smiling...

sweetkitty · 08/01/2006 12:38

pmsl at this thread maybe we should rename it "smelling of clary sage and thinking of ways to actually have sex"

With the SPD/SI pain and everything else I'm like Rach only one position left to do it in. Luckily being on all fours is one of the only comfy positions left and I spend quite a bit of time watching TV in this position too.

In a way it's comforting to know we are all in the same position, fed up and desperate for our babies to come out.

I HAVE POPPED
I have had a beautiful little girl at 8.12 am yesterday and I was soooo convinced it was going to be our third boy!
We havent got a name for her yet although DS1 aged 5 yrs, has christened her Rosa (coz girls like roses) untill we decide on a name. It was quite a quick birth... 6 hours 1st stage and then 2 mins to push her out! I am so glad its over and no stitches, even better. Our family is complete.. 2 boys and a girl.. we are delighted and I am so glad not to have heartburn any more.
Rachey... I really thought you would beat me to it Coz you were due before me .. today is actually my due date.
I Will keep popping in to see who is next.

Rach69 · 08/01/2006 13:41

Congratulations Spangles! How lovely to have 2 boys and then a girl - just like me . Great to hear you had a good birth experience and on your edd too . Think my babe will come out with a beard... Would love to see a pic pretty please?

It is really lovely to hear about all the babies coming, gives me hope that there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel, thank god for scans, I feel like i've got a box of frogs inside me.

PMSL at you watching TV Kitty (at first I thought you meant during... ) I can just imagine dp starting to think about Frank Lampard or someone else inappropriate at a vital moment

I'm glad we have each other too!

NotAcow · 08/01/2006 14:04

hello all -

have been shy to post on this thread as have felt a bit of a selfish moo for not remembering who's who and what anyones said so far - you all seem to know each other so well! -

have been butting my nose in on various other threads tho and think i am finally starting to notice some names popping up more often than others....

have actually been reading this thread, even if not posting, and it has indeed been a comfort to know i am not only one sitting round like a disabled whale waiting waiting waiting.

congrats to those who are popping/have popped. soooo jealous

will prob be the last... jeez, all this whinging bores ME, let alone anyone else - soz!

BBWBabeLisa · 08/01/2006 14:35

Morning all,

Congratulations spangles!!!! So exciting! And I think Rosa is a lovely name. My wee one's going to be have the middle name Rose coz both my mum and grandma are Rose.

M2OAB - You're so right to go with ebay for the pushchair. Soon as I found out I was pg I went to mothercare and picked out the travel system I wanted, then came straight home and put a saved search on ebay for it. It would have cost me approx £300 with all the accessories (cosytoes, raincover etc) but after a few weeks one came up locally on ebay (so no p&p worries) and we got it for £150, hardly used. Was well chuffed.

Georgina - I feel your pain! I too had chinese last night - Bean Curd Szechuan Style with all the other bits (fried rice and lardy veggie spring rolls), and paid for it in heartburn most of the night!

Notacow - Hello! A wee tip for remembering what people have said and replying to them is to have a notepad window open as you read thru. I do that, and when I read someones post and think I wanna say something I stick my reply in notepad then just copy and paste it all into the message when I'm done catching up with all the posts. HTH.

How you all can even contemplate sex in any position baffles me. I couldn't get on all fours if my life depended on it, and at my current weight of almost 23 stone I wouldn't risk DHs health by trying to get on top! Thank goodness I don't have to worry about going overdue otherwise I'm sure I'd be trying to find a way to do it too.

2 days to go til induction!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

lyra41 · 08/01/2006 15:14

Hi all

spangles
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!! SO GLAD IT ALL WENT WELL, and i agree, Rosa is a lovely name, quite unusual and very pretty.

not too bad today for some reason. i have the house to myself, dd and ds have gone out to watch Sale Sharks in a rugby match with some friends who'd planned it so dh and me could have some time with the baby - yeh right! dh has gone to get a telly for the bedroom so i can laze in my pit and watch telly too.

Georgie

the best positon i find is spoons, luckily dh seems to be able to oblige whenever i ask and if we concentrate it's all over in 2 minutes!! not exactly eroticism unlimited, but hey, that can wait for a few weeks or so! not that it's having any impact so far.

iris
i'm hoping ot see the acupuncture therapist early next week, but i don't even hold out much hope for that, i think i'll be pg for ever. i have also got a homeopathic pg and birth kit from a friend, so i need to look up all the remedies and what they do, specifically if there's one that says, "will start labour and persuade a reluctant baby to enter the world"!

notacow
don't be shy, we're a friendly bunch and always glad of more company. and don't be afraid to moan and groan, that's what we're here for, it makes us feel better to know we're not alone.

lyra41 · 08/01/2006 15:30

yey - going for induction acupuncture on tues at 11am, maybe that will work. altho the acup therapist said that she's made arrangements with 2 other mums recently for the same and both went into labour spontaneously before they could get to the apptmt, so hopefully just the sound of her voice will be enough!

Jaysfirst · 08/01/2006 15:31

Hi all!!!!!!

tought i would pop back and say i have posted my birth announcment. Thanks to all the well wishers after DH posted a quick mess letting everyone know about the birth of Harriette.

Havnt had much time to catch up on all the threads, but wanted to congratulate those whose bubs have already arrived and to re asurre those still waiting that it really wont be long, it will happen eventually, so hang in there!!!

Take care all, i am off to give her some more boob followed by a bath!!!

sweetkitty · 08/01/2006 15:38

Spangles - many congratulations a little girl! will save updating my "scoreboard" until you decide on a name for her, officially baby no 3! although we don't know about Mak and Maman yet.

Lyra - pmsl at your 2 mins if you concentrate! That's what it's like isn't it? It's hardly the most erotic thing in the world is it. DP keeps asking when we can try the "oral" route. Not that desperate yet.

Lisa - you don't need to worry about bringing it on, your all sorted for Tuesday you lucky thing. I had Chinese last night too, vegetable satay and fried rice. Have just been polishing off the Xmas choccies as well.

Notacow - welcome don't be shy you should see what I'm posting on here, pregnancy and childbirth throws any shreds of dignity and embarrassment out the window. Please feel free to moan this is the thread to do it. We are all feeling the same way.

Well had an impromptu visit from the MW this afternoon, she's lovely but she goes off call tomorrow morning so has asked for a nights sleep tonight. Baby has spun round, not up to down but side to side and I have feet digging into my ribs. Still 4/5's palpable as well but that's normal in a second birth. She reckons I won't get to next weekend. Heartbeats strong and she's quite happy in there though. More clary sage and sex if I can face it tonight!!

OP posts:
iris66 · 08/01/2006 15:39

NotaCow - keep posting!!! you're due same day as me (after everyone else ) you don't need to know what we've been chatting about before - just enjoy whinging with us now!

Huge Congrats Spangles!! I'm hoping for a similar timeframe for labour (though realisticly I know it could be so much longer!!) Won't be long and we'll all be on the post natal thread!!

Rach/SK - I thought it was whilst watching TV too lol! The heartburn precludes all fours for me. Good job DH has a strong back & I've no SPD Made suggestive noises this morning about needing his prostaglandin tonight & his (un)enthusiastic response was "best put it in the diary then" !!!! Clearly he's forgotten the limitations of afterwards - git!!!! Managed to get him to rub my feet last night though but he complained his fingers & thumbs hurt after about a minute (FGS! - rolling eyes emoticon!) In his favour though he's just cooked a lovely roast beef dinner & I had a large glass of gorgeous red wine (La Cantera Crianza 1998 from Laithwaites - if anyone likes heavy fruity reds) so am in v V good, and decidedly chilled, mood now. Planning hot mince pies & cream for when it all goes down but may have to nap first to let it all settle!

iris66 · 08/01/2006 15:44

Lyra - brilliant news about the acupuncture!! - and will bear the 2 mins concentration in mind tonight!

sweetkitty · 08/01/2006 16:05

lol at the watching TV suggestion!

I've taken to watching TV or just getting down on all fours as it's quite comfy usually it's DD who jumps on me playing horses!

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 08/01/2006 16:07

Spangles, congratulations!

DH has decided 9/1/6 is a cool birthdate because it reads the same upside down as right-side-up. I don't feel in any way imminent though - am obviously too comfy for my babies

Might try the old shiminey hoo tonight though

Sorry everyone's still waiting - will have to check the stats thread - are the majority of us due later in the month (I know some are overdue - and I really feel for you - DS was 10 days late!)?

Rach69 · 08/01/2006 16:29

Lyra - the acupuncture sounds great! Can you be a first-timer? And where do they stick the needles?

iris66 · 08/01/2006 17:01

SK - PMSL - was just about to write - "you lucky girl" as misread DD for DH playing "horseys" oh - dear - clearly one glass of wine was one too many for me!!

GeorginaP · 08/01/2006 17:09

CONGRATULATIONS SPANGLES. Brilliant news. Now if I copuld only get onto the damn yahoo site I'd be sorted.

Notacow - come and join in the fun. We're a cool crowd. Any and all whinging, crying, laughing and general merriment is considered a must for this thread

Have done sweet fanny adams today. Small walk on Wimbledon Common, coffee, sit on sofa to read new book and then 2 hour nap. DH cooking me roast chicken and all the trimmings. Am feeling ever so slightly happy .

BH much more bearable today. Just v weird sensation of something waiting to pop whenever I have a wee. Although it can't be my waters as m'wife said cervix shut tight on Fri....bugger it, have given up trying to second guess my body.

Thanks for the tips on positions . Will have to make sure DH has appropriate number of glasses of wine tonight and then tell him it's his damn duty .

He got me into this mess, he can get me out of it

Oh and he's also started to complain that he's a MN Widower

lyra41 · 08/01/2006 17:32

Rach

i think it will depend on the acup therapist whether they would want to induce you on a first appointment or not, some would, some wouldn't. i would do a search for a registered therapist in your area on the www, if i were you, or go for a recommendation if you know anyone who's used acup therapy in the past.

it's not foolproof tho, and is another of these "will only set you off if you're ready" type things. will keep you posted anyway.

lyra41 · 08/01/2006 17:33

georgie

I have cat-ed you the yahoo address and my password, so hopefully you'll be able to access the photos that way.

anyone else need this?

sweetkitty · 08/01/2006 17:35

DP has decided I'm obsessed with checking on here every hour is anyone else has gone into labour.

OP posts:
iris66 · 08/01/2006 17:39

It's clearly contagious! DH's fave saying (well, one of the less derogatory ones!) is "you on that thing again!!"

Mum2OneAndBump · 08/01/2006 17:45

Hello again all,

Before i write a post can i have it Lyra as i can not view any of the pics on the yahoo site, so desperate to see them? TIA

MrsDoolittle · 08/01/2006 18:05

I'm glued too and I've got 6 weeks to go yet!!!

Good luck Ladies. I can't wait for the relief of carrying this bump. I remember ebing so thrilled because I could bend down without heartburn last time.

Congratulations Spangles. This is a magical time.

hunkermunker · 08/01/2006 18:47

Have just realised that I know just when this baby will be born...Friday 13th! Knowing me...
