Hello :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
musicalmrs · 28/10/2011 09:31

Scarlet, missed your post earlier - how annoying! I'l be honest, I've normally only had wonderful customer service from Amazon - usually sending out a replacement before asking for the old one to be sent back- so find it a bit strange that they're not willing to process your refund yet :S

Same here with regard to half term Biscuits (week off for me - yay! - can't believe it's almost over though!), so I'll stay prepared throughout the weekend, before I get round to scoffing all the lollies myself!

I'll definitely mention it to the midwife Biscuits - it's too early for PE for me, but doesn't hurt to be aware and vigilent. I'm only 11w+3 - seems to be going so slowly at the moment, but I'm sure once I'm back at school and preparing for Christmas concerts it'll all fly past! Plus scan on the 7th Nov that I'm really looking forward to.

Biscuitsandtea · 28/10/2011 09:33

Oh Musical only just over a week until your scan now :)

And my 20 weeker is 2 weeks today - how can the 7th seem so close when the 11th seems so far Confused

scarletfingernail · 28/10/2011 09:52

I've never had to return anything before musical so I was unsure what the refund policy would be. Tbh I expected to have to send it back first, but now you've said that I'm all Angry again, but really haven't got the time or energy to go through another phone call. As long as I don't have any problems returning it in the post office or getting the new one tomorrow, I don't really mind too much having to wait until next week for the refund.

Your 12 week scan seems to be coming round quite quickly. My 20 weeker is 5 weeks today.

Getting myself and DS ready now for one of his little friend's birthday party. Typical how it's on the day I wake up with a headache. I really shouldn't have got out of bed this morning, my mood is foul. I've even told DH he can move out after the baby's been born for no reason other him snoozing the alarm 3 times. What a bitch, luckily he know this and that I don't mean it.

Biscuitsandtea · 28/10/2011 09:57

Awww Scarlet

Make sure you drink plenty to get rid of that headache - hope the party is somewhere nice and easy like a soft play where you can sit and have a nice drink and observe proceedings xxx

pommedechocolat · 28/10/2011 10:03

Biscuits - the eleventh will be here before you know it, promise. I think you'll be discovering you have an anterior placenta myself .

I have been a bit super weepy over the last week. Being preggers and everything in our lives around DH's dream and where we need to live not mixing so well with the hormones it would seem.

DD having noticeably less tantrums and eating like a trooper though so she's being very helpful!

Biscuitsandtea · 28/10/2011 10:11

Thanks Pomme :)

Glad your DD is being helpful - they normally pick these times to be more trying :). Not surprised your feeling it though with all this thing of moving etc. You'll get there though - we're all here with you :)

Have I missed something about your DH's dream?

pommedechocolat · 28/10/2011 10:15

dream = job. Unlikely to be a typo and more a brain malfunction. How odd. Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 28/10/2011 10:20

Oh I wouldn't put it past my iphone to autocorrect 'job' to 'dream'!

That does make more sense though.

Will your family be able to help much with the move etc?

We had packers come when we moved and I think for a fee you can get unpackers too - might be worth looking into if it's near the arrival time for your bean? The packers were super fast too - they did our entire 4 bed house in like 3/4 of a day and I just made my tea. I literally didn't do a THING!

Will your DH get a relocation allowance? Can't remember if it is his employer wanting him to move? That could really help towards the costs of having the packing etc done for you?

pommedechocolat · 28/10/2011 10:31

He is likely to be made redundant over Xmas. Not all firmed up yet though. The job we want him to get (which is progressing well) would be near our families so they would help us which would be great. Can't confirm anything yet though as don't want to risk the redundancy payout which we need to finance the move really... It's the uncertainty that's hard I think.

That's good news on the packers - think that would definitely help. How much were yours? We have a 4 bed too and one day watching someone else pack would be amazing!!

Biscuitsandtea · 28/10/2011 10:46

Oooh so it could all work out well then if you end up near families? Even if it is hard work to get there.

Can't remember how much our movers were - think they were quite pricey as we were living with the in-laws between houses (4 loooooong months) so we wanted a company that could do storage too which narrowed our options. From memory we were looking at £600-700 I think for each move (obviously we technically had 2 moves as we went into and out of storage). Must have been slightly cheaper coming out of storage as they didn't unpack it.

pommedechocolat · 28/10/2011 10:58

4 months with pils?! You are a saint! £700 is better than I thought actually. I know, it could turn out so well which in turn makes it all a bit harder in a way!

Biscuitsandtea · 28/10/2011 11:13
BartletForAmerica · 28/10/2011 12:39

Hello, sorry I've not been around much. I've been going to bed as soon as DS is in bed, but I am now on prochlorperazine AND cyclizine so I am managing to eat a bit more.

When we move again (planning on moving next year sometime), we will definitely get packers to do everything. I have been trying to encourage DH in decluttering - with variable effect - hoping that it will make it easier to keep the house tidy as well as easier to pack.

Sorry, I can't write more now. I think I might drink some tea and have a nap while DS naps! (Yes, living the wild life here!)

Biscuitsandtea · 28/10/2011 12:42

Aw Bartlet - good to hear from you - hope those drugs are doing something. Have a good nap xx

dreamfeeder · 28/10/2011 12:55

pomme, the firms which quoted us varied. The more expenisve ones had more comprehensive insurance- eg, if they broke anything while packing it, it would be replaced with similar or same if poss new, and if they scratched wallpaper etc in the actual move a decorator to fix it all included. For our 4 bedroom Victorian end of terrace (so quite spacious, and we had a lot of junk!) it was £250 for the more expensive company, plus £50 each to dismantle and reassemble the big wardrobes for the move. We went with the less insured cowboys. We asked what would happen if they scratch the walls and they scratched their heads and said 'hmmm, we've never had a problem before, we're careful, but we'd paint it- we'll have a go at a bit of DIY!'. As they'd moved our friends well 7 weeks before we went with them, but if I hadn't had a first hand recommendation (and I watched them do it- I spent 7 hours cleaning in their new house with them the day I turned 39 weeks pregnant!) I think i'd have been tempted by the other lot. Unpacking we didn't get quotes for. So our move cost £400 all in including packing which they did with 3 men in 6.5 hours!!!! I didn't even pack clothes. They lift drawers out full and put them back as they were. They hang all your wardrobe clothes on racks and you jst lift them back in. It's magic. My dad paid around £600 or 700 for a pack/move/unpack deal. Do it!!! I agree though, I hate uncertainty. Very unsettling. That's why I could never do DH's job!!!!!!

DD slept from when I got her to sleep (long haul, 9pm...) ALL NIGHT in her own cot. Grin Grin Grin. I feel like a different person. By 12pm I had taken her to the playground in the next village, put away a load of laundry, put a load in the machine and got it on the racks, put the slow cooker on and viewed a people carrier for sale in teh village. Now I'm sitting down with a hot choc and the inevitable crisps and having a break. And I haven't even been sick, it's wonderful!!! I'm functioning again Smile. She does still have the baby squits though- 7 episodes yesterday, and 1 so far today, but I think I smell another when I checked her in her cot. AND she's got DH's cold/ man-flu (he was genuinely shivery and achey, says he's been iller than most of his patients!), I'll kill him for infecting her!!! Wink

My tops from Serephine maternity arrived yesterday and I love them too. So I am very cheerful.

biscuits, my money's on an anterior placenta too, bet you, bet you, bet you!!!! It's just like me, I was getting twitchy for almost no movement at all by 20 weeks, anterior placenta with DD. 11th is just around the corner. I've got to wait til 1st Dec now for my 20 week scan.

musical, how I wish I could play something or sing... Nice to have a talent. 11+3 seems to have flown by to me, I'm sure you were like 6 weeks a minute ago.

dreamfeeder · 28/10/2011 12:57

Hi Bartlet, big sympathy for the vomming. I was only sick twice yesterday and not yet today at 15 weeks, maybe there's hope?! I know there wasn't last time... Hang in there, we'll all Brook No Argument this dies down way, WAY before the 30 week mark this time. xx

DizzyKipper · 28/10/2011 16:39

Shock scarlet that's terrible! I'm completely Angry for you as well. Are they at least going to reimburse you the P&P - why should you have any additional costs having to pay out to ship the item back when they made such a cockup? Angry

Thankyou for the trick or treating reminder biscuits, I'd not even thought about it - better nip to the shops when out with the dog. Will also be doing my best not to eat it all Grin

musical snap, I'm also scanning on the 7th Smile

It's good to hear DD is doing so much better dream, and that this also means you're functioning again as well!

mememummy · 28/10/2011 16:40

20 week scan today baby has a huge but normal head and short legs lol currently residing in the breech position and wouldn't comply with measurement so get another scan in three weeks :D still vomming daily but off pills now. shrimp is keeping me up all night with constant kicking so have been put on permanent nights at work which helps with sickness!! Been given an oyster pushchair which I pick up on sat so excited :D

Also thinking of moving next year never even thought of packaging firms but will def invest in one! I can't see who posted ATM cuz I'm on my phone but I'll check back later xxx

scarletfingernail · 28/10/2011 16:59

That's wonderful meme.

dream what a relief that DD seems to be much better and fantastic that she slept through last night.

Bartlet sorry to hear you're still feeling rough Sad

Dizzy I will be fully reimbursed for the P&P for the one I receieved today. I've also not had to pay to return it. They e-mailed me a pre-paid postage sticker for the return so I can't criticise them for that. I have paid for guaranteed delivery for tomorrow morning though for the new one, just because I don't want to wait any longer. I can't be bothered arguing for them to pay for that as it's probably in some tiny small print somewhere that they won't. The return was straightforward enough, all sorted. Just hope that the new one works and the refund gets processed without problem. Still Shock though that the one they sent was used when I was expecting a new one. I'm interested to know whether Scream's has arrived yet and that hers is ok...

musicalmrs · 28/10/2011 19:00

scarlet, sorry to fuel your annoyance further! To be honest, my good returns experience has all been a while ago - it might be that they don't have the same policies anymore. They were also when the products had been brought directly through Amazon, not when another seller was involved...

Biscuits, dream and Scarlet - it still seems like ageeeeess away for me, although I know it'll fly by when the working week starts again.

dream, I'm sure you have a talent! Soon it'll be one for juggling multiple young'uns and staying sane ;) I enjoy being a musician, but the downside is that it isn't a 9-5 - I have late rehearsals (til 10pm some nights in London), early practices, and I seem to always be up writing or arranging music for deadlines - tonight being a case in point! Luckily I love it, or I'd go mad... Sounds like things are improving for both DD and yourself - hurrah! So glad :)

Dizzy, a scanning partner, excellent! What time's yours? I think mine's 8.40am - the first one of the day!

Bartlet, glad you're managing to eat more.

That's wonderful news meme - shame baby wouldn't comply, but yay for an extra scan!

When we moved a few months ago, we went for removal people who didn't do the packing, but would dismantle furniture for us. They were also the cheapest, but did a wonderful job - was very impressed! If we have to move next May, we'll be using them again.

Think I may have to kill block the FB friend who is constantly posting about herself and her baby (she's a little further along than me) - arrrrgghhh!

dreamfeeder · 28/10/2011 19:24

and musical, does the FB friend have the 'birthwatch' thing on her status so it constantly rams down your throat how big it's grown, or whether the baby has eyelashes now etc etc?? That does my head in!!!

scarlet, I had a similar return to you through amazon for a Smart Trike I bought for DD for her birthday.

rubbish, DD wailing, not asleep, back up for another marathon put-down effort...

musicalmrs · 28/10/2011 19:36

No dream, not that one - though I have ignored friends on there for that in the past!

This time it's constant actual status updates. The one today is about "her and baby" being such-and-such. Argh! Drives me just a little mad. I'm happy for her, but it's just a bit relentless. Time for an ignore!

As an aside, I installed a pregnancy app on my phone - just because I realised I frequented the website lots. It 'alerts' me every week to how far along I am! Fun, but it's not as if I need reminding...

dreamfeeder · 28/10/2011 20:04

I win!!! She's asleep in her cot though I had to sit on the floor going 'shush shush shush' as required til she dropped off

oooh which app is that musical?! I'm keen! i haven't even found the mn app I've been told exists for my phone... (I've got an HTC).

Her and her baby that's not even born yet?! That's way too much! Of course it's blooming going with her... I have made sure there is no reference to the fact I'm pg anywhere on fb.

jaggythistle · 28/10/2011 20:53

me too dream. i told people after the scan, but don't post about it. not sure what I'd say- Puked again last night, yay! Grin

fingers crossed DD has a good night.

went to visit a new baby today, i enjoyed a wee cuddle but DS was not impressed. i suppose a tiny person feeding and sleeping isn't that exciting.
he does love 'Topsy and Tim - the new baby though' it was v cheap on Amazon. have had to read it every day so far and he likes it as an extra bedtime story.

have recently discovered he does an impression of a baby crying (complete with pouty lip) which makes me giggle. he has also started declaring all foods to be 'denicious!', normally before he's actually tasted them though. no idea where he's picked that one up from!

musicalmrs · 28/10/2011 21:23

Dream - Yay, she's asleep! Glad you won! And, madness isn't it! There's no references to the fact I'm pg anywhere on there, and I won't be making reference to it at all. Jaggy, I've told people, and I have talked about it via Facebook chat - but I agree. My status updates would be "Is shattered, again!", "Has an achey stomach", "Is STILL hungry", "Wishes she was in bed" etc etc. Besides the fact it would upset the people I know who are TTC... it would just be incredibly annoying for everyone else!

The app I've got - mine's an Android too - is the BabyCenter My Pregnancy Today one. Bits of it are naff, but the updates on how big it should be, what stage etc are quite good! I didn't know the MN app was available for Android? I shall have to go hunt it out....

Jaggy - Denicious food? How sweet! He sounds delightful :) Does he claim something's 'denicious' and then hate it at any point? :P
