Hello :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Phew! Hi guys. Is so panicked when I saw thread was full and no bread crumbs to follow. Great scan news!
I told my mum about pg. She was really pleased and excited and about 10 mins later she said" tell me again what you just told me!" I don't think she quite believed me. She will be flying home today with a big grin on her face.
Smile

jaggythistle · 15/10/2011 09:56

Mine's written down as 19 weeks scream so I guess they do them early here?

By the end of my last pg I was wearing slip on shoes and velcro ones. [[http://www.sportsdirect.com/dunlop-flash-lth-vel-sn11-245002 these actually but red not green]. I looked so stylish....

I couldn't get my safety boots done up for work. Slip on safety shoes do not look cool. I saved them so I can wear them again though Grin

jaggythistle · 15/10/2011 09:57

these actually but red not green

Biscuitsandtea · 15/10/2011 09:59

Oooh that all sounds quite exciting pomme and I'm sure with 2 kiddiwinkles it would be easier being nearer to family. We moved earlier this year (although we were hoping we would have been pregnant then!) but that wasn't a great distance, just to a better schools area.

Bartlet hope you're feeling better soon and the what-d'ya-ma-call-it drug does some good. if it doesn't work do you think they could try you on something else? I know Dream said one drug hardly worked last time but they gave her a different one this time with better results?

Wants3 · 15/10/2011 09:59

My scan info says 2 nd scan between 19 and 22 weeks I think so they allow quite a big window.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/10/2011 10:01

Hmmm I remember socks etc being a real pain in the backside to get on. But I must have managed all the way to end - don't know how! Am hoping if I can have taught DS how to put his own socks on by then he might be able to help me out Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 15/10/2011 10:30

Grin at Biscuit's DS being taught to put on Biscuit's socks right after learning to put on his own! Great plan!

Thanks for the reassurance on the scan date everyone. To be honest I kind of like the fact that it's just before Christmas, so as long as it's within the normal window of time I don't mind waiting an extra week.

Jaggy I quite like those sneakers! Especially in red! Currently I spent every non-working minute in either my black or red converse sneakers, which look pretty similar. Although actually, I'm about as far from stylish as you can get so I guess the fact that I wear sneakers even when I'm not pg isn't really a recommendation... Confused

Okay I've wallowed in bed for far too long this morning (making up for a week of getting up by 6 and getting home after 9!) Gotta get my butt in gear and over to collect my friend from the station. Sooooooooo excited about telling her, and I might buy some maternity clothes too! Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 15/10/2011 10:31

"spend"

jaggythistle · 15/10/2011 11:20

another converse fan here. i only have 4 pairs... so far. maybe i can find some velcro ones. Grin

i wore the dunlop ones out so i need something...

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 15/10/2011 13:43

I got DH to help with the lady garden, using Veet, last time. Ahem. I was proud that I managed to carry on shaving my legs myself, but given that I already have a painful pelvis (stupid SPD!) at 16 weeks this time around I may be much less mobile by the end. Is anyone else developing aches and pains already? I have already had to give up high heels Sad and my pelvis still aches, grr.

My 20 week scan is on 14 Nov, so I'll be 20+4. I've got my first growth scan booked for 8 Dec and my next consultant appt on the same day, but I'm hoping that changes. There has to be some reason behind my abnormal blood tests (assuming it isn't Down's) and I want them to find out what it is asap.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/10/2011 14:26

Oh dear Too sorry to hear your SPD is playing up already Sad. Is there anything they can do for it?

I have my 30 week scan just before you on 11 Nov, and I'll be 20+3 I think. I have my first consultant appt that day too, but not really sure what to expect from that (am scared it will be a bit of an anti climax Confused)

I should maybe know this already, but why is it that the growth scans are necessary? (apologies if you've told me this already Blush). Obviously we're all brooking for good news from Monday but you're right, they do need to work out those blood test results don't they. Hopefully they will have a plan of action after Monday. xx

Hope you're getting through the weekend ok after your busy time at work xx

Biscuitsandtea · 15/10/2011 16:42

I am soooo tired of potty training :(

That's all.

jaggythistle · 15/10/2011 16:50

I am sooooo not looking forward to it! How old is your DS again - I think he's a year ish older than mine if I remember right? Just 3 recently?

Just decided to stick my news on Facebook. My Mum has phoned the entire world and i have been in touch with my closer friends. It is boring at work this evening, so it will be entertaining to see when my work friends log on Grin

It will also save me telling them next week at work - bonus! I got a bit flustered and Blush last time I'm sure.

Purplebuns · 15/10/2011 16:59

Too I have had back pain and SPD, I am two weeks in to a month being signed off and I honestly don't know how I will cope going back. I do feel down sometimes that it has happened so early, and I am usually so active and when I end up being in pain after something minor it is rubbish.

Biscuits You have your good days and bad days, after several days of getting on the potty and no accidents, DD went for days having accidents again it is so frustrating! Luckily today has been good. I definitely know how you feel though! :)

I have three pairs of converse, but I wore uggs last winter and my feet have got too wide. [hangry] [hsad]

I will be 21+6 at my 20 week scan do you think this is too late? Probably too late now to do anything, anyway.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/10/2011 16:59

Yes, he's just 3. I've been putting it off for ages because I was dreading it so much, hoping that he would just wake up one day and say 'Mummy, I'm done with nappies - let's go for pants!' but no joy so far, so we thought we'd see how we got on this weekend. To be fair he's not doing too bad, it's just boring and stressful and dull, and everytime he squeaks I have to run and see if he's done a wee! I think he's getting worse as the afternoon goes on too as he is tired (also decided he's done with naps this week Sad).

Still, maybe we'll be there by Christmas (not sure which one though Smile). at least DH is here to help with the mopping up / cheering and applauding as appropriate!

Biscuitsandtea · 15/10/2011 17:03

Purple sorry you're in such pain too Sad.

How old is your dd? I think she's younger than my ds? Although I'm well past the stage of worrying about how old he is with it now! Hope she gets the hang of it soon though, well actually I hope they both do. I might do a bit of brooking about it I think!

jaggythistle · 15/10/2011 17:11

DS will be about 2.8 when this baby is due, was seriously thinking of just putting it off till after then unless he decides to buy his own pants Grin...

My Mum was all "you were trained by 2.4 and your brother by 18 months" recently I attempted to politely ignore :)

Hope you ladies with SPD are taking it as easy as you can!

pommedechocolat · 15/10/2011 17:15

Dd will be 23 months by the time the new one comes and I was hoping for her to be potty trained, in a big bed and not using a bottle for bed time milk by then... Too ambitious? :)

Purplebuns · 15/10/2011 17:22

She will be 2.5 next month which is scary! I have quite a bit of peer pressure from friends, on who's DD has been trained since 15 months and the other really working hard on it with her almost 18 mo.
My friend currently training, is taking her DD to the potty all the time which is not something I want to do, I am just encouraging DD when she uses the potty and reminding occasionally. I just don't want it to be a big stressful thing and I have read too much about young babies being trained and then regressing really badly later on or having bladder weaknesses!

It will happen in its own time, can still be demoralising when it feels we have had a backward step and my currently training friend obviously disagrees with my method which is annoying! She actually took my DDs nappy off just as I was about to leave and plonked her on the potty and did loads of praising when I had already said no, which I thought was a bit rude... (Oh and DD didn't wee just like I knew she wouldn't) I use nappies when I go to a friends house and don't want to faff around when Dd starts going 'I want the toylutt' when I know full well she wants to play!

Sorry bit of a rant there!

And my back is so much more manageable at home, shame I have to mostly sit on my ever expanding arse. Sigh.

Purplebuns · 15/10/2011 17:24

Pomme I am only now considering putting DD in a bed as she has just started to not piss around at bedtime. I would pick one thing out of your list, I would pick bottles as they can be bad for your teeth, and easier to do now than later whereas I think the others should be easier later IYKWIM.

Purplebuns · 15/10/2011 17:26

Also with Potty training it is hard to be consistent as Dd is with childminder who certainly can't be taking her to the bloody potty every ten minutes! I thin this leads to slower progress a little.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/10/2011 17:41

Jaggy I get that from my mum too, except depending on the day I was trained by 12 months / 18 months / birth and overnight too! I so can't be doing with her going on about it but I think she's starting get the idea now that I'm not listening! Blush.

I think I'm lucky that a lot of my nct friends are at the same stage with their boys too so don't feel too bad.

This is our first 'concerted' effort at TTPT (see what i did there!). We've had nappy free time before, but if we ever add pants in it all goes wrong so today is the first time we've stayed in and given pants a good go.

I'm kind of hoping he'll get one more good one today - don't want to end on a load of accidents.

Cor blimey guv'nor he has just this minute wee'd in the potty Smile. Evens the balance up a little....

jaggythistle · 15/10/2011 17:54

Go Biscuits DS!

If you have DS with a napy off for more than about 10 minutes 2 seconds you get wee everywhere, so i am fairly convinced he's not ready yet.

He normally jumps up and runs to the bath after his nappy comes off but occasionally takes a detour round the house in the buff which makes me a bit nervous.

He clambered into the shower in the en-suite recently, to play with the shampoo bottles I think. He'd probably been out of his nappy about 5 minutes. He did a little wee while crouching down and then seemed to go "ooh a yellow puddle!" cos he started splashing in it with his hands Blush Cue him getting hosed down in the shower and escorted off for his bath!

Dont ya just love em. Weeing on the Sky box wins though Grin

I have got 'The No Cry Potty Training Solution" book, so obviously it will all go swimmingly when I can be arsed DS is ready.

dreamfeeder · 15/10/2011 17:58

Hello,

bartlet, I'm on the same tablets as you- prochloperazine (or buccastem or stematil- WHY do they use all the different names all the time!?!)- I found them FAR better than cyclizine which didn't work for me at all last time, I hope they work for you too. If its any help (and I doubt it) I have been far worse than last time, and it has stopped suddenly for 3 days in a row now! i'm going for hoping your pattern is totally different to last time too.

The anomaly scan just has to be between 18 and 22 weeks, so no panic anyone!

Wonderful scan news meconium, great you get a second one too. Very, very Envy at everyone else being able to have nuchal translucency whatsit scanning except me. Boo for being in a rubbish maternity care trust, BOO!!!

Dreading potty training. definitely not doing it before twins are born with DD less than 18 months and WHEN will I get time to be keeping on taking her with 2 babies keeping me on my toes... I feel she'll be about 4... Wink purple, I'd have been so miffed if my friend did that with the nappy/potty when I didn't want to. I'm glad she didn't wee!!!!! My DD did a big wee on grandpa's landing carpet on the way to the bath yesterday... Hope your back settles down a little purple with not working, and hope you don't end up signed on again Hmm Be surprised if you were.

Had a look at a Ford Galaxy and a Fors S-max today. Oh. My. Goodness. I will need parking sensors. Front and back. It felt like I was in a mini bus. And I still not sure we'd get 3 seats in the back of an s-max...We only had DD's to put in.

Still staying with my dad for the kitchen floor palavar to continue. Most lovely to have a healthy hot meal put in front of me every night after my faff with bedtime with DD ESPECIALLY now I can eat it these last 3 days!! My dad says I'm eating for at least 5... (Technically I could claim to be eating for 4, but as I'm only feeding DD once a day, better stick to 3)

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 15/10/2011 18:31

Purple, you have all my sympathy at being signed off already. Mine is not that bad - just nagging pain in my pubic bone plus occasional sciatica-like shooting pains down my buttocks/legs when I get up. I have noticed that the pubic pain gets much worse during long meetings where I have been sitting leaning forward with my elbows on the desk (my favourite bump-hiding position!). I need a physio appt but have been putting it off until after next week. Last time I didn't get pain until about 30 weeks, but by the end turning over in bed was agonisingly painful and it lasted for about 6 weeks post-partum. Birth did not help, mind you - I was so shell-shocked that I didn't say a word about SPD to the MWs and wound up giving birth on my back with a MW holding one leg each, which I later discovered to be about the worst position someone with SPD can be in for birth.

Biscuits, the growth scans were a precaution because of previous stillbirth - they don't know exactly what went wrong, but they wanted to keep an eye on the baby's growth this time, because DD was on the 10th centile for weight but her head circumference was on the 95th, so they thought perhaps she had started off bigger but had lost weight. I think she was just a long thin baby, exactly like my little brother and youngest sister were. Also, if Bean turns out to be OK after the amnio, then the abnormal blood tests could show something strange in my placenta, so they would want to do growth scans in case of that, too. Sigh. Why can I not have a nice calm uncomplicated pregnancy?

On the potty training front, I am currently experimenting with a carpet cleaning product from Pets At Home for removing dog pee from a white fluffy rug. The dogwalker has been turning up later and later and dog couldn't hold it any longer on Wed and Thurs, grr. Naturally he chose the middle of the rug and not the crappy cheapo carpet to pee on, and Vanish carpet cleaner was useless. So I have bought this stain remover which claims to use natural enzymes to eat the pee - I have to leave it to dry naturally, so I'll report back if it works. I imagine it would work the same on baby pee, should anyone need to use it.

I know someone who potty trained their baby from birth, holding her over a potty almost from day 1! It worked in that she was potty trained very early, but I still don't think I'll be trying it. It sounds like far too much hassle.

Dream, glad to hear you are starting to be able to eat again! Yay!
