Congrats babydust! - great to hear the baby has grown Smile

My scan isn't for another eternity 3weeks. I'm so excited hearing all about everyone else's though. Can't believe we're hitting the half way mark, seems like 2minutes and a lifetime all wrapped into one!

Chulita · 18/10/2011 07:54

Good luck norfolk and stuff with your scans today!

Pleased your scan went well babydust :)

I've still got 2 weeks til mine but this pgcy is really dragging. I've got a dreamgenii from last time but need to remake a cover for it before I use it and although it's cut out, I just cba to sew it together. An evening's work would do it but...

CheeseandGherkins · 18/10/2011 08:35

knitterati Hope the sickness has stopped now

ILove the movements are lovely, I've been feeling much stronger movements over the past few days and it's quite reassuring

Santa Good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you and checking for updates, I really hope it goes well

NFC good luck for your scan next week. I was convinced this is a boy but dh thinks a girl, I've been thinking girl on and off lately but I'm sticking with boy, we should find out soon

Five I felt that way for a while but being around others does help to normalise things a bit

Norfolk glad your boss was ok about your pregnancy, good luck with your scan today

babydust really glad your scan went well [hsmile]

18+3

FlipFantasia · 18/10/2011 08:41

Good luck to all with scans today and over the next few days - babydust good to hear you had a good scan Smile

Knitterati & dragon with DS my scan was also at 21 weeks though I think my hospital has changed their policy now as at the 12 week scan she specifically told the receptionist to book me in at 19 weeks...so I'm not complaining about having to wait less time! It's on the 31st so bubs better not be trick or treating!

Chulita well done you for even considering making a new cover for your dream genii!

Cheese I have a black ergo but only because two friends had already bought the red and camel coloured ones (I came late to the ergo with DS as I started with the close sling).

Santa happy birthday to your DD! Am liking her cake decorating style Grin. Hope you have a lovely day celebrating and that it helps take your mind off waiting for the scan.

Norfolk glad to hear telling work went well and glad you can now embrace your bump rather than hiding it!

Wingding also thinking of you and hoping all is well with you. How long until your cardiac scan?

Big waves to all others I've not mentioned by name. I've spent most of my morning at work so far browsing gap maternity (I find their jeans really good btw - am 5'9 and they work for me, length wise, though I actually don't have massively long legs for my height...strange really as regular gap jeans don't work for me at all) so am now trying to fit in a MN catch up before everyone else gets in around 9am!

Morning everyone :)

I really need to stop posting on my phone and use the laptop so that I can mention people by name. My memory is rubbish and posting on my phone means I can't refer to everyone's posts while I write. I do read everyone's posts though!

Santa thinking of you today and hoping this afternoon brings good news and reassurance. Perhaps a cup of tea and some Versace-Inspired birthday cake would be a good start to the day? Wink Hope your DD had a great birthday.

I am doing the waking-at-4am-and-not-being-able-to-get-back-to-sleep thing. It's driving me batty!

Have a good Tuesday everyone! I'm kind of treading water this week waiting to see what Friday's redundancy meeting brings. This will be the 3rd meeting so we must be nearing a conclusion.

19+0... Woohoo!

Norfolkbumpkin · 18/10/2011 16:02

Had scan this morning and everything looks healthy which is a relief. They had 2 attempts at the scan as I hadn't drunk the required amount to lift the baby up high enough. As a result I was sent back outside to down a bottle of water and told off for thinking that my morning coffee counted as fluids. Apparently it doesn't as has dehydrating properties. Baby was not playing ball at all and was trying it's best to evade attempts to take measurements, so there was no chance of us guessing the sex anyway. All we can tell is that it has a very clear spine and thigh bones, and that it likes thrashing around!

Stuffthenonsense - hope your scan went well today too x

Treks · 18/10/2011 19:42

Hi all, glad to hear people's good news for the scans and thinking of those who have a few days to go before they have more information/certainty/good news hopefully.

Had a bit of a wake up call this morning which if anyone else has low blood pressure, they may already be aware of... Standing on a bus, not having had breakfast can lead to a near fainting episode. I realise I am stating the blinking obvious here, but I have never fainted before in my life and having the world close in around you is a really odd experience. Thankfully as I stumbled off a woman noticed I'd left my bag on board and threw it out after me so I sat at the bus stop, ate the granary bar in my bag (a bit late, I know!) and got my friend to walk me the rest of the way in.

Thankfully the Dr I called said not to worry, just eat little and often, but I really felt like I'd gone through the wringer today so left early to go home (sitting on the bus this time) and had a nap. I decided not to pop into the mat unit (it's on my way home) as I wasn't bleeding or cramping. My tummy's feeling like its working/expanding, but not cramping, if you see what I mean.

Smoothies, bananas and water will be with me at all times before 9am now!

Reallea · 18/10/2011 20:21

Ooh Treks thats scary... I keep forgetting to eat breakfast too. I realised at 1pm today that I still hadn't eaten anything. The same happened on Sunday. Anyway when DH realised today I got a big telling off and your experience is a big wake-up call. Am vowing to eat porridge in the mornings with DS from now on.

So we also had our 20 wk scan today, apparently I am 20+5 (I had got confused since they changed my dates so had stopped counting!). They were running an hour late and we had to entertain a rather grumpy DS for that time but that did mean I wasn't sitting worrying the whole time! All seemed well and I am very relieved to see a much smaller head circumference than DS had at his 20wks so i am fingers crossed that I won't have to go down the forceps route this time (especially as I had failed epidural last time so had them without pain relief). Anyway we are a bit gutted that they weren't able to tell us the sex because the sonographer was rubbish because it's legs were in the wrong position -but we reckon that means a girl and she didn't want to commit to it. Very annoyed as friends moving house next week and have offered me some pink nursery furniture if we discover we are having a girl, but now I feel weird accepting it in case it's a boy!

Santa thinking of you for tomorrow.

FlipFantasia · 18/10/2011 20:27

Norfolk good news on the scan! I hadn't realised that you needed a bit of a full bladder for the 20 week scan so thanks for adding that...

Treks god, sounds scary - breakfast every day for you now young lady! I'm a big fan of the GI diet, as I doubt I'd make it far if I skipped breakfast (low blood sugar causes me to be the most irritable person alive - poor DH has had more than his share of my low blood sugar narkiness Grin). Snacks/grazing sounds like a good idea.

Hope everyone else is doing well. My aim for tonight is to not fall asleep on the sofa, like I have for the last however many nights (god, the glamour of my pregnancy!).

FlipFantasia · 18/10/2011 20:29

reallea x posts - good news on your scan too! Sorry you couldn't find out the sex. I only found out today that it's harder to be sure about girls on scans...will be interesting to see if you do have a girl!

Reallea · 18/10/2011 21:18

Thanks Flip. Meant to say, if you're a an of gap eternity jeans which I also am (5'8 with long body, short legs and lived in gap jeans last pg), I have also been lent a pair of topshop jeans this time round and I am loving them too. The cut is called Baxter and they are skinny jeans, I really like them and only switch back to the gap ones when these are in the wash!

NFC I know what you mean aout the waking in the early hours, it's driving me crazy too. DH keeps falling asleep on the sofa at the mo and then coming to bed at like 3am... Its because i've been going to bed at 9.30 so e settles down to watch some rubbish tv but then passes out...He has now been told he has to go to the spare room if he does that again because I'm over being woken up yet again and then not being able to go back to sleep for 2-3 hours.

stuffthenonsense · 19/10/2011 05:17

Hi, scan went well, 4 limbs, 4 heart chambers# brain looks normal. Baby's length is 31cm. DH didnt want to know the gender so we dont know but i think i might have liked tio find out.from a waiting point of view, i arrived on time and was still checking in when i was called....but then i am with a new scheme locally and my own personal midwife was there at my GPs surgery for the scan.....no lengthy hospital visits for me. Yippee.
Yes its 5am, and i have been awake for over an hour..it is so frustrating as DD4 has just this last week decided that sleeping through the night is a good thing and so i have 5months of last pregnancy sleeplessnes+16months of baby keeping me up at night to catch up on. Im glad all the other scans went well yesterday and hope everyone still waiting has a positive experience too. Just wondering, has anyone set upa FB group page for us yet? I love keeping up to date with mums i met on here with DD4, its lovely to watch each others babies growing.

SantaLucia · 19/10/2011 09:29

Raella - I'm loving the Baxter jeans too. Really comfy.

Great news on all the scans! So exciting. Has anyone had a total shock re: the gender??? I was told at my last 20 week scan that it didn't matter whether the bladder is full or not so who knows what is right?

Still keeping everything crossed for this afternoon. Lets hope there is a lot more fluid for baby Santa! I've been feeling stronger movements from the baby but I'm trying not to get my hopes up in case its bad news. The frustrating thing is that everything else with the baby was ok - limbs, heart, head, low risk of SB and DS. I just need the little one to be swallowing and peeing lots of fluid.

At least the sun is shining! Can't remember who asked me where I am in Scotland but the answer is Glasgow.

Hope everyone has a good day.

20+2

ShaggingProducesResults · 19/10/2011 10:05

Santa I will be thinking of you this afternoon and hoping that everything is fine.

Stuff I don't think there is a FB group yet (unless I've missed it....). Do you want to set one up for us?

CheeseandGherkins · 19/10/2011 13:21

Norfolk glad your scan went well. I'm surprised that you had to drink more water though, I've never had to at 20 weeks as the baby is out of the pelvis and quite a bump by then!

Treks my bp is often low and I can feel quite dizzy and start to black out as I stand up and have to stop and sometimes lean over to feel normal again. What's your bp usually at? Must have been scary for you.

Reallea glad your scan went well

Flip you don't need a full bladder, never heard of any place asking for that before. It's only on early scans as the baby is in the pelvis still and the bladder being full pushes the womb up. I didn't even have a full bladder at 12 weeks and all was fine.

stuff another good scan :) I have some people from old ante natel on fb but never had a group before.

santa fingers crossed for this afternoon, I really hope it goes well.

NotFromConcentrate · 19/10/2011 14:47

Santa it was me who asked where you are, and also me who posted yesterday about your scan because i thought yesterday was Wednesday Blush

I'm just outside Glasgow, so not a million miles away! Thinking of you this afternoon, and hoping all goes well and you get some good news! The sun is shining this afternoon, I'm hoping that is a good sign ;) Fingers crossed for big deep pools around the baby x

SantaLucia · 19/10/2011 18:44

Evening all. Had my follow up scan this afternoon. Its kind of good news, I think Confused.

The consultant who did the scan said that the fluid had not reduced at all (which was a big relief because a reduction in fluid would mean a baby in decline). She said that it measured as a normal amount of fluid but that it didn't look normal because it was in big pockets rather than being all around. She said she could see the kidneys and the bladder, we watched the bladder fill up and empty again. But she said it seemed not quite right somehow - the bladder seemed a bit small, the image of the kidneys was slightly fuzzy around the edges (although this could be nothing). So....... she called in a Professor to have a look. He thought the fluid was ok - just oddly dispersed and thought there might be more fluid that they can't see properly with the scan. He checked the bladder and said it was a bit smaller than they might expect. He checked the kidneys etc. They went off to discuss it while we waited in a little room.

Consultant came in and said, "we can't find anything wrong but there are soft markers of something not be quite 100% right". Apparently it could all turn out to be normal. Its just one of those strange cases where things look a bit unusual but may not be. I am very confused, but also reassured that at least the baby is growing well and that everything is ok and they can't find anything definitely wrong.

We have another detailed scan now in 2 weeks and they are going to adopt a "watch and wait" approach. I guess this is a good sign - after all nobody really knows the health of their baby until it is born and is growing steadily etc. But I am certainly taking nothing for granted.

Sorry for long post - wish I could have given a simpler update!!!

CheeseandGherkins · 19/10/2011 18:55

santa that is good news for now at least, I totally understand about not taking anything for granted, it's the same for me. Take it each day at a time and each scan at a time and I hope for the best for you and your baby. I won't feel all is well until I'm holding this baby in my arms, alive.

knitterati · 19/10/2011 19:23

Glad to hear there is positive news Santa will keep my fingers crossed for your next scam in 2 weeks time. At least it means you're being monitored and have some knowledge about what may be going on rather than being completely in the dark.

knitterati · 19/10/2011 19:23

Scan, not scam obv. Damn phone.

FlipFantasia · 19/10/2011 19:35

Santa good news about the fluid and I think the fact that the bladder is filling/emptying and the kidneys are working as far as they can is something positive. Though I appreciate the mixed message must be confusing, and worrying, for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the next detailed scan shows good news.
