Flip - your long weekend sounds great. And I love the fact that you don't "do" the cellar. Me neither, especially since the steps are outside and covered in very slippery moss. I keep asking DH to go down there and lug up the Bugaboo Bee so that I can decide whether I'm selling it or keeping it.

Re coats - I bought a fab ASOS maternity one on Ebay for £24. It is wool and swing shaped with lovely pleats. I have had so many compliments on it - nobody knows that it is maternity because the shape is so fashionable right now. I saw a nice maternity duffle in Topshop if anyone fancies a duffle (a la Natalie Portman). It would look great after pregnancy too.

So sorry to all those who are still suffering MS. I have escaped this time round but I'm definitely feeling the strain when I'm living life at my normal pace. It seems more tiring just to walk up hills, let alone try to do any proper exercise.

Anyone got any good healthy lunch tips? I had a phase of smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels and then a mad crush on prawns with avocado. Now I'm stumped. Maybe Veg Soup will fill the void. Whatever it is I must stop eating biscuits. My sister visited last weekend and bought 2 boxes of those M&S more chocolate than biscuits. They were on offer. Damn her!

knitterati · 26/10/2011 18:38

Haha! Santa I wouldn't worry ... By the amount of digestive biscuits I've been eating to stop myself being sick, it'd be no surprise if this baby came out looking like a biscuit!!

dorcas ouch! I had wrist probs a few years back & it was painful, so don't envy you with both wrists. Hope it starts to ease soon.

knitterati · 26/10/2011 18:39

Just realised dorcas is on another thread. Major dose of the baby brain today! Blush

ILoveMyDragon · 26/10/2011 18:43

Ohhh so excited!!! Mama has put together my old cot, also used previously by bro and sis so is about 32 yrs old but gorgeous and I'm so excited to be able to continue its usage!

As for healthy lunches I'm considering makin the mass pasta and pesto that I can drag in and eat hot or cold but I'm pretty rubbish at lunch and usually end up going to Greggs for a sausage roll!! Bit addicted to cheese toasties too when I'm out and about at work! Not too healthy but yummy!

Speakin of healthy am shootin off out for a carvery cos I'm too lazy to cook!!

NotnOtter · 26/10/2011 21:02

flip and santalucia - I laughed out lous at that!!! Me neither!! We have a whold extra fridge down there that we store the weeks milk in - if i go to the kitchen fridge and there is no milk i DO WITHOUT until someone comes home to go down there for me! Not scary just don't do it Blush but Grin

NotnOtter · 26/10/2011 21:07

got my bloods back from doctors - slightly anaemic at 9. something but my ferritin levels looked AWFUL. Shes given me some iron but only via the secretary - I had a quick google as unsure what the actual ferritin figure means and did not get too far suffice to say i slightly scared myself into quaffing iron ( which i am normally lazy about) as the low level looked sillyly low!!!

DorcasGailen · 27/10/2011 06:23

knitterati I lurk on this thread too!! Anyone on this thread suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Nice tips on the coats, I am returning to the UK on 6 weeks and dont even own a coat, I will be hitting the shops as soon as possible after the plane lands!

SantaLucia · 27/10/2011 12:01

Dorcas I had carpal tunnel with my 1st pregnancy. It was annoying but it abated pretty much immediately after the baby was born. My husband is a surgeon who deals with carpal tunnel and he recommends splints for night time use if its really painful. Not sure where you get them.....

NotnOtter - make sure you up your iron, the anemia can really make you feel crappy. I find iron tablets give me horrible indegestion and stomach ache but using Spa Tone iron supplement doesn't give any side effects and really improved my ferratin with the last pregnancy. I take it in orange juice as the vitamin C helps with absorbtion. Its totally safe for pregnancy.

Dragon - mmmmmmmmmm pesto and pasta.

DorcasGailen · 27/10/2011 15:14

Thanks SantaLucia will give that a go

MyOtherNameIsBetter · 27/10/2011 16:28

(namechanged)

We just had the 20 weeks scan and all is well Smile

DH literally yawned his way through it. Also asked at the end what had happened as he had 'zoned out'. I know the room is dark but he has no reason to be particularly tired.

On the way home he said this is more 'my thing' and that he is essentially disinterested ie: made sure I felt like shit when previously I had been smiling.

By way of background, he's not a baby person and I raised DS by myself til he was about 3 when DH started getting interested. It was a joint decision to have this baby although he maintains I wanted it more than him.

I just need a hug. Didn't even get that fron DH after scan.

ShaggingProducesResults · 27/10/2011 16:32

(((hug))) MONIB

What a twonk!

MyOtherNameIsBetter · 27/10/2011 16:48

Thanks shagging. Twonk is right. I mean FFS - how can you fail to be even mildly interested/pleased that you have created a healthy new life?

ILoveMyDragon · 27/10/2011 18:49

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}} MONIB!!! Kinda kow the slight feelin tho feelin a little more supported :( Hope it gets better xx

Reallea · 27/10/2011 19:32

Oh MONIB sorry to hear that, honestly, boys can be so insensitive sometimes. I reckon if you told him what he said has upset you he'd be mortified. My DH says stupid things like that all the time -or at least used to but I have had a right old go at him about how he just needs to be more thoughtful about some of the offhand comments he makes... I am sure your DH is still committed to having this baby it's just that some of them really do believe that all this excited prep is more us than them and that they just have to support us in it. And they genuinely can't see why we get so worked up about things sometimes. I am sure it is just that he is being rubbish and really would hate it to think you were upset about what he said.

Hope everyone else well, I am away to see inlaws during half term and we are leaving DS with them for 2 nights this weekend and getting away to a hotel-woohoo! Also I just bought a double city mini jogger which I am super pleased about- got it on eBay and will prob sell as soon as DS happy to walk more but as it's second hand it kind of feels like I'll be renting it for the period of time I'll need it for if I can sell it for not much more than I paid! Its in amazing condition although it's not the new version which will take a carrycot too so I may just carry on looking and see if a new version comes up in my area.

Still getting morning sickness too but not surprised seeing as I used to have to medicate for it. I only occasionally now get it in the day but get it pretty much every morning at about 4am when I wake up and can't get back to sleep because of it!

Chulita · 28/10/2011 07:53

myothername that's so unfeeling of him! Have a from me too, utterly rubbish, hope he gets a bit more excited about it before it's born!

reallea you can buy support brackets to clip various things onto a baby jogger, like a car seat etc, where the belly bar goes, have you looked into those? We bought brackets to clip our maxi cosi in but never used them [waste of time emoticon]

Off for our 20 week scan in an hour, have to take both dc Confused should be alright with enough packets of quavers...

ILoveMyDragon · 28/10/2011 11:41

Well i thought I was morsupported until dp totally refused to come to scan this mornin and started goin on about me bein insensitive as he didn't even want s baby. Blah blah blah. Oh well I was pretty sure I'd be doin it pretty much on my own even of he hangs around. Never mind can't be arsed to get stressed about his notorious strops he'll be fine in a few days but he won't be gettin away with it! Sorry small rant

MyOtherNameIsBetter · 28/10/2011 16:19

ILoveMyDragon - wow, he sounds worse than mine and he's calling YOU insensitive?! I hope the scan went well and he comes round soon. Why these grown men have to be the centre of attention at all times I don't know. Maybe it's baby jealousy. Do you have DC already?

CheeseandGherkins · 28/10/2011 16:29

I'll post properly later, just got home but scan went really well. Everything is all fine with the baby, only measuring about a week ahead at the moment and we're having another girl! [hgrin] So happy and actually excited now [hgrin]

SantaLucia · 28/10/2011 19:35

Isn't there a saying:

"A woman becomes a mother as soon as she gets a positive pregnancy test. A man only becomes a father when he holds the baby in his arms".

(And a lot later than that for a lot of men I reckon!)

Its not just men though - I wasn't an overly enthusiastic "mum" the first time around and was determined to be more "into it" this time but I don't feel that enthusiastic until I see the baby, and actually when it turns about 2.5 years is when I really like it Blush. Now my DD is 4 I can't get enough of her and I love older ones too.

So lovely to hear all the positive scan news though, and its great when they can tell the sex. People keep asking us if we know but, what with all the mystery surrounding fluid and fuzzy kidneys, the consultant hasn't obliged us with the sex of the baby. Must remember to ask them at my next scan - provided everything else looks ok.

Hope everyone is planning a lovely weekend. x

stuffthenonsense · 28/10/2011 20:34

hugs to those with disinterested partners...its really crappy....my ex was like that, hope it all works out for you, and i know its not the same, but WE are interested on this thread.

KittyRogue · 29/10/2011 09:33

Massive hugs to all those with disinterested partners also, like stuffthenonsense said we are interested on this thread!

20 week scan at 11!!! I also have really bad growing uterus pains >_< not the best nights sleep so I'm expecting tears today (Kitty plus lack of sleep = emotional Kitty) I'll be crying at adverts again!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!! Anyone got any plans? For me it's tidying the house and carving a pumpkin to put outside so the ickel trick or treaters!! Must also buy sweets!

ILoveMyDragon · 29/10/2011 10:30

Thanks guys I know he will he fine once baby arrives he did apologise not long after but I just ignored him for a few hours. So scan was ok but gotta go back next week as little darling wouldn't show its face but hey I'm not complaining about another scan!

No other dc for me but he has 2 that he has no contact with so ot is difficult for him but I made sure it was totally how decision when we went for it as apparently his ex stopped takin pill even tho he was adamant he didn't wait dc I ob only have his side of the story so lots of salt taken!

Anyway I have a seemingly healthy bubba growing inside of me so can't really complain about much :D hope everyone is having a good weekend I am working and am about to treat myself to a fat Bacon sandwich!

CopperLocs · 29/10/2011 11:51

Hi Ladies!
I'm now 19+5 with the little Peanut- almost halfway there!
Struggling with headaches like crazy though Sad
My Dr is reluctant to prescribe anything stronger than paracetamol which has made me anxious about having to go down that road if necessary but these headaches are so awful! Has anybody else suffered with them during pregnancy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

LilPud · 29/10/2011 13:32

Afternoon folks

Hello copperlocs I have a headache every morning - not nearly as bad as yours sound as it disappears by lunchtime but kinda feels like I'm waking up with a hangover everyday. I do find that doctors are quite useless tho, I saw one a couple of weeks ago about itching (very annoying and sleep disturbing) but if anything she just looked confused. Hope this eases for you as things progress.

Congrats to everyone on their great scans - still over a week for me and I'm getting very impatient!!

19+3

ILoveMyDragon · 29/10/2011 14:38

I am a headache sufferer was horrendous in first trimester but got better now thankfully! Have you tried 4head it is herbal and safe to use however be careful as the boots own one isn't suitable for pg. If you haven't used it before tho be warned it does tend to make your eyes water the first few times you use it!
