Ladies, our previous thread was getting full so here is a lovely new shiny home for us all.

I've put some comfy cushions around and plenty of pregnancy safe snacks and drinks. The Segway park is in the corner over there next to the stack of glittery vom buckets (plenty of extra buckets too for all the newbies).

In the corner over here you'll find our library of leaflets including sections on early pregnancy private scan clinics, pushchairs and car seats.

Hope you all like it very much :)

Oh Meme - how frustrating. I agree with Scarlet though - is there a friend or anyone who could go last minute? Would seem such a shame to waste it at this late hour. Or if its appropriate for your sister / niece to cough up for dropping you in it at the last minute!

Angry on your behalf

meme, ring around, I'd jump at the chance to do somethign like that, even if it wasn't normally my thing. Hope you find someone to go, who'll contribute a bit at least, and make that niece of yours pay the difference. You CAN'T let someone down the day before, it's just not fair, especially for a treat they've waited so long for. Badly brought up I say Wink (don't take offence at that meme, i'm just fuming on your behalf, I'd never do that, like it or not, I'd go!)

meconium, fabulous about the heartbeat. How wonderful. I wish I'd got DH to nick the doppler from work like he did last time now!!!

Still scan, tomorrow... at last. I'm nervous. No idea if the nuchal fold bit is booked or not, but I don't really care, not like I had it last time.

Too, good you have a date and it's not too far away. At least you know either way then. And a decent chance everything is just fine. We'll all Brook very, very hard for you of course. And it's such a shame you have to go through all this anyway, to echo biscuits

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 19:19

Good luck tomorrow Dream - I'm a-brooking for you xxx

Get on here as quick as and let us know how you get on xx

MeconiumHappens · 05/10/2011 19:40

have a great scan tomorrow xx

Wants3 · 05/10/2011 19:44

All the best for scans and positive results for everyone in the coming weeks!

scarletfingernail · 05/10/2011 19:46

dream I am very very excited for you and wishing you a lovely scan.

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 20:06

Have we got other scans this week too - or is it the scanathon on the 14th?

OP posts:
ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 05/10/2011 21:00

Too I'm glad you've got a date to work towards now. I hope you manage to stay as positive as possible, we're all No Brooking for you.

Dream best of luck for your scan tomorrow!

Biscuits I know it doesn't count as another scan, but I have my midwife booking in appt on fri this week. I'm also scheduled to meet an independent mw on the same day, so I'm really hoping both appts go well! All ahead of the scanathon next week!

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 21:05

Oooh good luck with your mw appts on fri - especially interested to hear how the independent one goes? You'll have to tell us all about it Smile

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 05/10/2011 21:27

ooh, yeah, want to hear about the independent mw!!! Very exciting.

musicalmrs · 05/10/2011 21:51

Good luck for the scan dream - will be thinking of you! Will be checking from my phone in between rousing choruses of Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata from my students...

Indepedent midwife sounds interesting! I've not thought of any of these things. Hmm...! Feeling rather underprepared.

meme - hope you've got something sorted. How rotten to be stuck in that situation.

Too, so glad they've sorted your appointments out already. Fingers crossed the time goes quickly for you.

Wishing it was the weekend already. I'm sleeping very badly at the moment - waking up every hour or so, and taking ages to get back to sleep. I don't envy those of you with young DCs! I have some lavender pillow spray somewhere, which I shall try tonight...

fishcakefoxtrot · 05/10/2011 22:03

Well, I had my scan this morning and there was an actual baby in there! Wiggling around and everything! It was such a relief to see the heartbeat- I stared at the ceiling until the sonographer found it and sounded positive, I was so nervous!

I met a midwife and the consultant afterwards, both of whom were lovely. I am going to see the consultant again at 19/20 weeks after the anomaly scan and then start regular growth scans from 31 weeks, providing everything remains normal until then. He said that it was more likely that I would have high blood pressure/ IUGR again, but it wasn't definite and as it didn't set in until relatively late, chances are if it did happen again it would follow the same pattern, which is a relief. He has put me on a low dose of aspirin, which apparently often helps.

We talked about section vs VBAC and both the midwife and the consultant said it should be fine to have another section, which is a relief, too. So, all round a good appointment.

I decided to have the CUBS test in the end, so I have that to wait for now.

Good luck tomorrow, Dream, I hope your appointment goes well.

And Meme, I hope you find a way to get to London with some good company.

Duke, congratulations!

Hugs to Too, I will carry on brooking no argument for you. I'm glad your amnio isn't too far away.

fishcakefoxtrot · 05/10/2011 22:05

Scream, a friend had a home birth with an independent midwife last year and she said it was great. The IM did all her antenatal and postnatal care and it sounded so thorough and personalised. I hope the one you meet is equally confidence-inspiring.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 06/10/2011 08:36

Fishcake I'm so glad your scan went well! That's great news! Excuse me for being clueless but what is the CUBS test? I'm obviously still No Brooking that you'll get good results! Even though I'm not sure what it is...

I'm glad your friend had such a positive experience with her IM, that's really encouraging! The one I'm meeting tom I've spoken to on the phone several times, and she seems lovely and calm and knowledgeable. I'm really hopeful about meeting her! I'm afraid I'm far too much of a wuss with pain to ever consider a homebirth though, this is definitely a planned hospital birth right from the start!

Musical I'm sorry to hear you're not sleeping well. I'm having exactly the same problem at the moment (partly linked to insanely itchy skin which started a few days ago - fun!) but I'm clinging to the hope that all of these symptoms are temporary. My nausea has decreased hugely, so now I'm hopeful that the migraines and itchy skin won't necessarily wait until 12 weeks to vanish either. I'll be No Brooking for your sleeplessness to clear off ASAP!

Dream I'll be thinking of you (and lurking on MN on my phone) all day until you get back to us about your scan. Good luck!!

Biscuitsandtea · 06/10/2011 08:56

Great scan news Fishcake and glad it went well with the cons and mw. Also no idea what the CUBS test is but brooking for a good result.

Can't believe you've already had your scan - I'm still in my pjs and supposed to be taking DS swimming in 25 mins.... Errrrrr......

Sorry for those not sleeping well and with itchy skin - I think itchy skin is quite a common thing in pg but not sure what can be done? There is a thread on it on the pg board I think?

Hello everyone! Great news Fishy!
Hello Duke did you pop on awhile ago? Congratulations on the vomming please choose which colour sparkly bucket you would like :)
Dream can't wait to hear about your scan. If it needs updating here is the stats thread.
All these babies, it is getting very exciting!

I had my physio appt. yesterday (they had a cancellation)and the exercises seem to be helping and I have a very attractive tubi grip to wear. So, feeling a bit better, whether I am going to go back to work... Not sure, I will try it but I am very much enjoying being off. + Need to see if the exercises can stop the pain starting after two hours of activity.
I have also started to think of getting a double as DD isn't a great walker yet and I think I am going to have a bad back after birth too thanks to what my friend have been saying. + DH fancies a Donkey Hmm

I am also feeling proper movement and some kicks now so that is really exciting!

DD is with the childminder today so I am putting my feet up, watching home&health crap and going to have an uninterrupted shower by myself soon. Wonderful!

Is it bad that I am really fancying the left over pizza from our takeaway from lastnight? If any of you can tell me I won't get food poisoning I will eat it.

I also feel really sad about Steve Jobs, I have had to stop reading about as I almost started blubbing :(

scarletfingernail · 06/10/2011 11:27

Purple Pleased your physio is going well. You don't need to decide about going back to work yet though do you? Just wait and see how you're feeling when the sick note runs out.

Fantastic about your scan Fishcake

I'm also really suffering at night with lack of sleep. I was up for 4 wees last night Shock and I'd hardly drank anything all evening. It's really starting to get me down. DS has yet another cold and cough and has been waking up crying in the night for the last 3 nights. DH has mostly been seeing to him and I end up feeling guilty as I could go really as I'm only laying there awake anyway. But I'm just too exhausted to move.

I wish I'd asked dream what time her scan is, could do without being on tenterhooks and lurking all day.

Purplebuns · 06/10/2011 11:35

Hi Scarlet I don't have to decide until the 27th so a while. Sorry your feeling like rubbish, now I am further along I don't need to get up as much, sometimes (very rarely) I don't at all, but only twice last night so hopefully it will get better for you? You are right to get DH to see DS, your growing a whole human being and need to rest. Are you able to 'become one with the sofa' today?

I am going to be lurking all day I think!

scarletfingernail · 06/10/2011 12:17

Yes I've become one with the sofa already today. I managed to get myself showered and dressed. Poor DS is coughing and spluttering and has insisted on staying in his pj's today so I'm letting him. We're snuggled up watching Balamory and I'm hoping to get him up to bed soon so I can have a proper rest myself.

Feel very embarrassed asking this but does anyone else watch The Only Way Is Essex? Blush It's my guilty pleasure.

Wants3 · 06/10/2011 12:27

I had my doctors app today! Came away feeling positive and with forms to fill in and my first bounty pack! All starting to feel more real! I need to phone the midwife but just got answer machine so was able to leave a text message!apparently the first appointment will be at home.

dreamfeeder · 06/10/2011 12:28

Scanned. Twins. Both bang on dates and looking healthy. I'm very excited. And worried. I will have 3 under 19 months.

Great scan news fishcake.

Hello everyone else. Walkind dd to sleep in rain so back later.

scarletfingernail · 06/10/2011 12:32

dream

Shock I know you're not going to believe this, but I typed out the below earlier and then deleted it as I didn't want to look stupid.

I reckon dream is going to come back and say it's twins. I read that breastfeeding while ttc increases the chance, the level of sickness she's had plus the strong BFPs right from the off.

I really, really wish I'd left it for you to read now after all. I'm so excited for you, how special will that be.

dreamfeeder · 06/10/2011 13:19

Thanks scarlet I was busy apologizing for not being able to drink anything due to major vomming this morning when she said 'there's your babies' . Babies, plural, I was so shocked! Have a pic of each and both together. Really lovely. I was hoping for musical to have twins, not me!!!! Not that I'm not delighted.

Baby still asleep in the rain. I'm cold and wet. Hurry up!@

scarletfingernail · 06/10/2011 13:28

I have a friend who's eldest DD was exactly 18 months old when the younger twins arrived (a boy and girl) and they really are delightful together. You said you wanted at least 3 and now you're getting 2 for 1 which means 1 less vomming pregnancy to go through.

I hardly dare ask if you can fit 3 rear facing car seats in your car?
Wink

When will you be able to find out if they're identical or non-identical? Could the sonographer see today?
