Ooo pinterest looks fab! trope your xmas board just made me all excited for Christmas! Smile

Had a weird day yesterday, could not stop crying! Very embarrassingly this started at work! My lovely manager came to the rescue and bundled me off to a meeting room to have a good cry, she's the only one at work who knows- so pleased I'd told her otherwise they'd have had me down as a loony!

I'm only 6+1 today and we are going shopping for maternity jeans later Shock I'm already popping out of my normal clothes?! Have a feeling I'm going to be mahoosive!!

Have also had the crazy dreams, mostly about an army of insects defending me and dp against a tarantula! Random!!

Morning all!

piggy god yes to evenings drawing in and it's so depressing! I love autumn and am even alright with most of winter (up till about late Jan, then I get bored and restless till around April when the sun comes out a bit more!) but I don't feel like we've really had summer yet so it feels a bit unfair that it's getting dark early again already :( Still, it's perfect jeans & a jumper weather which is my favourite thing in all the world, so I'm happy on that front!! Back in maternity jeans today as I have the mother of all bloat going on - and i've got horrid trapped wind Blush - eating too much methinks!

Not had any grim dreams yet, but am really not sleeping well, getting about 5 restless hours on a good night :( Can't get to sleep, can't get back to sleep if I wake up and constantly need a wee in the night (and the toilet is downstairs - it's basically the furthest room from our bedroom). Much like ghost i'm a touch emotional and prone to snapping and being a bit unreasonable... so far it's not too bad though and I can still tell i'm being OTT so can rein it in a bit and apologise!

Good luck for the 22 week MW appt today ghost - hope it all goes well! Must be lovely to be so far along!! I'm looking forward to feeling more pregnant than fat! Wink

I have a friend over later with her two boys so have a nice (if tiring!) afternoon ahead of me, then a lovely weekend with no plans and DP all to myself! Hurrah! Grin

What are the rest of you up to this weekend?

trope · 09/09/2011 10:00

peapop shudder - insects and spiders in a dream!! Ugh! i'd be itching all day if that was me!!! (mind you, number of spiders in this house right now i'm constantly twitchy and paranoid that I've got a spider on me - am pretty arachnophobic so am not enjoying this early spider season one bit!!)

The crying sounds horrid - glad your manager handled it so well!!

I also had to start wearing maternity stuff around the 6 week mark so you're not alone! I have a pair of cheapy new look jeans now (with a stretchy top, but not a massive bump band) that I practically live in! Does make keeping it a secret harder though - have had to invest in some loose long tops!

Am starting a baby board on pinterest next and possibly a buggy one and maybe a nursery one and ohgodtheregoesmyweekend!!! Wink That site is dangerously addictive!

BunMyOven · 09/09/2011 17:12

Hi everyone just quickly popping on to let you all know that I had my 20week scan today and everything was perfect with bump, who, by the way, appears to be a girl! Grin The scan was incredible although I was disappointed because DP had to miss it because of work Sad

I have a stinker of a cold so please excuse me for buggering off, my head feels like it may implode any second now . . .

foolserrand · 09/09/2011 17:56

Bun! That's amazing! Very happy that everything is perfect with little girl bump. Feel better soon!

Think I'm going to have to give in and check out pinterest on the pc rather than my phone since you are all raving about it!

PiggyMad · 09/09/2011 18:54

CONGRATULATIONS on your little GIRL!!!! Grin

Am I right in thinking you have a boy already?
I'm sure a bit of pink online shopping will make you feel a bit better Wink

PiggyMad · 09/09/2011 19:11

trope I'll be following your board - especially the buggy one!
fools, peapop and ghost glad to hear others are having random dreams!
carlita how did telling work go?

I've been very bloated and constipated the past couple of days Blush And have incredibly itchy nipples grrr
We're off viewing a house tomorrow then my mum's coming over for lunch so looking forward to a bit of baby-banter! I work Sundays so that's my weekend sorted! Anyone else got any exciting plans?

trope · 10/09/2011 12:36

Bun - WOOOOOOO! Congratulations! A girl - that's lovely! I always wanted one of each - am very jealous! Grin Hope you are feeling better from your cold - seems to be a lot going around atm! :(

fools do check out pinterest, but be warned that it's a complete time sink!!

Piggy - thanks! :) have had oodles of buggy pages bookmarked in a big folder, will be great to put it all in one nice visual location! Only problem is I can't upload my spreadsheet comparing my favourites Wink (and no, i'm not joking! I have a buggy spreadsheet and a "things we need to buy" spreadsheet, with sub-categories of "baby furniture", "baby equipment", "baby clothes" and "stuff for me"! Did I mention I'm a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge geek? Wink)

Have also had horrendous bloating and constipation - drinking gallons of water and eating shreddies all the time seems to have helped a bit, but it's still not completely right/normal yet.. No itchy nipples here, but they do feel weird - (TMI TMI TMI - you've been warned!) they used to be quite sensitive and sensual and now they are sore and lumpy (the oil gland things are starting to get prominent already) which is sad and I miss them being fun things, but i guess that's just something i'll get used to, what with my plans to breastfeed!!

Exciting about the house!! Do let us know how it goes - keeping my fingers crossed it's a good one! :)

We are off to have lunch in town shortly, buy DP some new shoes/boots and browse around the brighton lanes enjoying some autumn sunshine (cue downpour, no doubt!) Tomorrow we are blitzing the house as it's an inch deep in dust and cobwebs and a complete tip! So today is our day of fun (we try and have one fun day every weekend so DP gets a bit of a break as he works so hard during the week)..

Hope you're all having a good weekend! Grin

BunMyOven · 11/09/2011 12:15

Thanks everyone! Smile Yes Piggy, already have a little boy (2.5yo) - should make decorating interesting when it comes to them sharing a room (DS is car mad, shall pray for a tomboy! Wink)!
Feeling a little better today, really rough though, even though it's just a bad cold bug (sinusitis, swallowing razors etc) I've been back to vomiting lots - just as I was getting my appetite back Angry Can't wait to feel better so I have the energy to be adequately/mentally excited about having a daughter!!

Am slightly peeved after reading my scan notes, had the same sonographer for both 12 and 20 weeks scans. At the 12week I commented to DP that she'd been pushing quite hard with the probe and it had hurt at times, assumed it was due to my - ahem - larger belly. At the 20 week scan she applied very little pressure, I was very comfortable and the only problem she had seeing anything was when bump started wriggling around when she was looking at the chambers of the heart, wasn't a problem though and the scan was over surprisingly quickly. But, in my notes, she has put "Ultrasound view: restricted by high BMI"?! 12 week scan says "Ultrasound view: good". I've lost weight and quite a few inches of fat since my 12 week scan Confused Hmm

Ooh, don't get me started on nipples (!! Grin) - mine are (TMI) so over-sensitive it's painful. Was like it with DS too, drives me insane.

Piggy how did the house viewing go? I love viewing properties - wish I was one of those cheeky people that had the balls to go viewing properties when they have no intention of moving! Grin

Hope everyone's having a lovelier weekend than I! Grin

ghosteditor · 12/09/2011 09:36

hi ladies! Had to go bra shopping at the weekend as my existing (underwired and padded, the whole shebang) bras have been crushing my ribs for the last couple of weeks. I think my rib cage has started to expand to be honest. I didn't get measured but tried a few on - sadly the only place I could get to on Saturday (M&S) only had maternity bras for people with teeny tiny backs or enormous boobs. Have ended up with a pretty ugly non-wired bra, but feel very vulnerable without a bit of padding. And my boobs look a funny shape. Rubbish!

foolserrand · 12/09/2011 10:40

Bun, that's awful. Bloody cheek! Did you get a lovely scan photo of your daughter at least? Didn't realise your ds was same age as mine!

ghost, I got some from mothercare last time. They all seem to be no wires, padding, nothing. I tried chicken fillets last time and looked ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend it.

Right, off to supervise ds take the big dog to the vet. Hmm I have already been told I am not allowed to help.

peapop · 12/09/2011 18:29

Congratulations bun that's lovely news! Smile

Ghost i've had the misfortune of being in maternity bras from 4 weeks! My boobs grew from 32B to 34DD! I got mine from M&S (impulse buy) and dp says they look like old lady bras Sad Was looking at the Mothercare ones the other day and they look so much nicer so maybe try there. (If you join their baby club you get £5 off lingerie when you spend £30) Can recommend their sleep bras too!

Got a lovely surprise parcel off my sister today! Bio Oil and Mum to be toiletries! Just what I need at the moment too as so tired a but of pampering will def help! She seems a lot brighter now, loving giving me lots of advise thankfully so fingers crossed she's on the mend! Her dp went back to work today so she's on her own every day now but she said it all went really well today so really pleased! Smile

trope · 13/09/2011 11:23

bun that's shocking!! What a cow! It's clearly nonsense as well as there were no issues at the first scan - i'd be tempted to complain personally. (But then I am a right stroppy cow about stuff like this!) Sounds to me like she rushed the scan a bit (running behind schedule maybe?) and is trying to cover her back against any potential future comments/complaints by making up an issue with you that affected the scan perhaps? Grrr - I hate substandard medical care! It makes me go all green and hulky! ;) (you wouldn't like me when i'm angry etc...) Wink

Maternity bras - I had a look and wanted to cry :( I live in underwired, shaped bras (as many of us small chested folk do) and the thought of going without wiring/padding makes me feel most sad! For now i'm living with the double boob from my normal bras and hoping I can stick with regular bras for much of the pregnancy and only resort to the horrid maternity ones right near the end. I am probably delusional about this though, I accept...

peapop glad your sister is doing better! What a lovely thing to do sending you a surprise present like that! Grin Am very jealous!!

So I drove off to a babyshop north of brighton yesterday to go and check out the iCandy strawberry that they had for a week on the tour - unfortunately the icandy website had the dates wrong and it had already been sent back so I didn't get to see it :( However, Bentalls up in Kingston have it from the 14th so I am doing the trek up there on Thursday evening to go and see it and this time DP can come as it's open in the evening - yay! So hopefully all's well that ends well! Will let you know what it's like! In the meantime though I found a couple of youtube videos that show you what it's like - "Which" mini review and one of the baby shops from the tour made one .

I'm actually really going off it though as the shopping basket looks rubbish :(

I did get a proper go on the iCandy Peach yesterday though and really struggled to depress the buttons to release the cot/seat etc and do up/undo the harness - and that's with my hands the best they've been since I first got sick... so am a bit concerned that if my arthritis flares up post birth I could struggle to use the buggy... But that's probably true of most buggys I guess - will be going around pressing all the buttons on all the different buggys at Bentalls on thursday to try and find ones that are easier!! Am going to look like a complete loon! Wink

Oh, and i've put some links/info on my pinterest page about buggies that we are considering (rear&front facing, big shopping basket, not too big/heavy so I can take them on the bus etc, suitable for use with a car seat and have adjustable height handles.. think that's the main stuff). We're going to go and have a look at an uppababy vista one weekend soon as a baby shop near MiL stocks them (will have to be careful not to bump into anyone we know though as we're still unannounced!!) They came top in the recent Which review of travel systems so we figured they are worth a look. (Have linked to mumsnet thread with which info in it on my pinterest page as well!!)

DP is going to be in NY for about 3 weeks in November (the longest we've ever been apart) and I've been (am) really dreading it. However, I am now planning on spending that time crafting all my xmas presents! Have lots of pressy ideas on my xmas pinterest and am starting to feel quite excited about making things. Should help keep me busy! Am also planning on going to the Country Living xmas fair up in London with a friend! Is totally ponce-tastic and 99% of the stuff they sell will be out of my price range, but is fun to browse/get ideas! Don't suppose anyone else is going?

trope · 13/09/2011 11:29

oh and meant to say ShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShock at going from a 32B to 34DD - I am in CRAZY FEAR of what could happen to my breasts!!! I like being petite!! Am hoping to only go up a cup size, or two tops, (36A, to start with, am fine with B or C but D and beyond scares me!!) I think i'd look rather silly with massive norks!! Am finding this whole body changing uncontrollably thing quite weird and hard to handle - which is silly as it's perfectly natural and normal and exactly what is supposed to happen when you're pregnant... but it still bothers me - am hating feeling "fat" - hope I will feel more positive about it once it's more obviously baby bump... Hoping that once baby is moving/kicking it will feel more positive to be such a different shape / size to how I am normally!

I think it's perhaps because I only just got my body "back" from the arthritis (last decade have been sick 90% of the time) and now it's being taken away from me again...

Gah - am rambling! This is what happens when you are alone 12+ hours a day!!! (DP is working late again this week... :( )

ghosteditor · 13/09/2011 14:07

trope I'd love to hear more about the iCandy strawberry when you see it - we're sort of considering it but it's more money than I really wanted to pay.

peapop that's quite a nice bra based leap actually!

As DH put it, I've had 'a visit from the boob fairy' over the last few months, but now that the baby is taking up more room and all my organs are getting shoved upwards, my ribcage has expanded, so my cup size hasn't really gone up. I'm currently wearing a bloody awful full cup non-underwired thing which is two sizes bigger than normal on the back. On the plus side, I'm no longer getting the really unpleasant short-of-breath and sore ribs I was getting each evening in my old bras. I didn't get measured though so it's possible I've bought the wrong size I guess. I was a 34 B before and would have had no complaints about going up a few cup sizes for a while (would have been a pain when I went back to hockey though!) but the whole back size thing is making me feel like a boxy little broad backed troll person. (I'm short but quite broad you see!). Trope I'm with you on the body-craziness though - I'm not doing too badly as things go especially now that I have a proper bump, but I've put on weight in other places and it actually makes me feel unwell to catch sight of the extra flab. DH is being super-supportive and it's not making me miserable or spoiling the pregnancy - I just try to avoid overhearing my weight at the MW and try to focus on the bump and not the rest of it!

I am planning on doing a sprint triathlon in Windsor next June with another friend who is expecting in January so that will give me plenty of chance to get back into shape!

ghosteditor · 13/09/2011 14:11

oh and trope - re the struggling with putting down the pram with fiddly buttons - have you looked at the City Jogger? It really is the most amazing fold ever (take baby out of buggy, pick up buggy by handle, and buggy collapses in half immediately). Downsides are that they're not the smallest of prams and while you can get a carrycot now to make it worth it from birth, it sits on top of the normal pram bit so looks a bit clunky and is heavier. You can't fold with the carry cot, obviously, and once the baby is out of the carrycot the pram bit only faces forwards. It might be worth it for you though if you run the risk (esp with cold hands in winter!) of not being able to cope with fiddly buttons/handles. It's also much cheaper than iCandy/Bugaboo etc. It's still on my long list but might not be small and nippy enough to work for heading in to my local shops, which is what I guess I'll be doing most.

BunMyOven · 13/09/2011 23:23

Ghost! Am Shock at you doing a sprint triathlon in June!! Hardcore! Am very impressed (and Envy at your motivation) Smile

Thankfully my boob growth has stalled, for now. They expanded a cup size in a matter of days and then nothing since (nothing but pain that is).

Fools I got one nice clear scan picture that you can see facial features in (which I will post soon) and the other is a blurry mess. Paid £5 for both prints so I'm not terribly impressed by that! (was all woozy from oncoming cold and the joy of the scan that I didn't think to look at the pictures before leaving)

Peapop, how lovely to hear things are looking up for your sister and how thoughtful of her to send you that parcel! Very sweet Smile

Trope, that would sound very plausible but I arrived there half an hour early (! I live in fear of being late so am early for everything) and someone had not turned up for their appointment so they called me in early, there was no-on in the waiting room when I left and a second sonographer that was free so not sure what it was all about at all! Will speak to MW about it at my next appointment because it was, without doubt, bollocks.

Nonetheless, I'm starting to feel better (was only sick once today) and am finally able to start getting giddily excited about having a healthy baby girl jabbing away at my uterus! Grin

Am definitely sticking to underwired bras as long as possible. It really knocked my confidence with DS in soft cup bras, am a 38G-H so really need the support.

What a bummer they didn't have the Strawberry in for you to see! Though it's great that your DP can go with you to see it now, what with the height issues WRT the handle bars!
Can see why you'd have problems with the buttons to take the seat off actually, on our Cherry they can be quite stiff/sticky.

I could kiss you for bringing Pinterest into my life! Have had a proper look around at how you pin from other websites etc tonight and it's fantastic! Am definitely going to use it to figure out what to do with DS's bedroom when DD (eek!) goes in there, it's perfect for being able to see what goes with what. Loving your boards too!

~~Whoops! Started writing this post at about 9:30 but got completely side tracked by the wonders that are Pinterest and www.etsy.com Blush Best bugger off to bed! Will be back tomorrow to continue mammoth post Grin

BunMyOven · 14/09/2011 08:29

Morning! My head's feeling better but my body's still shite so the internet will be a dear friend of mine today.

Turns out I seem to have said quite enough last night so won't bore you more this morning! Grin

My pinterest page iss here for anyone that's interested.. There isn't much on it at the moment but no doubt it will be improved upon today Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 14/09/2011 09:13

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm being a bit rubbish, I lost my iphone last week so not getting on here as much as I'd like, I'm using my BlackBerry (work phone) atm but it's reaaly very awkward and won't keep any web pages open for you so hard to have a quick check! Anyway buncongratulations on finding out you have a little girl, amazing!I too would love a boy and a girl, perfect! trope I joined pinterest too, loving it, got things to make and things for the little one! Very addictive!
I too have been in maternity jeans for quite some time and live in the new look ones with the small band. I am now 'out' with everyone so not having to suck the belly bump in at work now! Work are being great about it, they're all really happy for me but sad I'll not be going back which is lovely.
Boobs! Unfortunately I have been in soft cup maternity bras for a while now, I normally wear underwired shaped bras and am still mourning the loss! My boobs are not a very good shape now and the new ones come up so high that I have to keep checking and pulling my tops up. I was hoping to stay in normal bras as long as possible but went from a 30h to a 32hh and that's it, all over as my normal bras stop at an h cup apparently Sad just really hoping they will shrink back eventually?
I have my second 12 week scan on Friday, can't wait!

BunMyOven · 14/09/2011 10:59

Grrr! I wish DS wasn't so into cars etc, there is no way I can do a gender neutral bedroom, it has to be boy-girl/blue-pink divide. Should be lots of fun though - once I manage to get over the inevitable gender stereotyping that will take over that is! Have always hated the blue/pink thing but I guess it's inevitable when they get to 2-3yo.

Got a link to your page Carlita? Great that your work are being supportive Smile
Ooh another scan on the thread! Very exciting Grin

foolserrand · 14/09/2011 17:31

Hi all! Sorry in advance for the me, me, me post but am so :( and dh is just making things worse.

I had to go into work today for a bit of training so dh took the day off work. Ds needed a hair cut so asked dh to take him. Emailed him a photo of style for security. The utter arsehole at the barber has butchered his hair. He looks like a mini Hitler. Dh showed the "barber" the photo, which would have meant a fringe trim and shortening and neatening back and sides. It was so easy. This fucking moron has taken half an inch off his lovely floppy blonde fringe. Think a wobbly edged dairylea triangle missing. There are steps everywhere and nothing is straight, even or symmetrical. I'm devastated. Can't even call up to complain because I can't talk through the tears.

That's the worst bit, I am completely over reacting. Ok, its now written down (poorly). I just need to move on. Ugh. It's going to take ages for his hair to grow back to fix this. :(

I'm done, promise, sorry for the intrusion. Will be on later to catch up with you all properly.

PiggyMad · 14/09/2011 18:28

Hi ladies!
Hope everyone is well!
bun - Can?t believe the cheek of the sonographer! I agree she is just trying to cover her own back so there are no comebacks. Bitch! Hope you?re feeling a bit better and staving away the cold! will be stalking your pinterest page!
trope can we have the link to yours too?!
Peapop ? I?m also a 32B and hope mine grow as much as yours Wink I?d love some DDs ? even if just temporarily!! How are the symptoms coming along for you?
ghost - I?m feeling flabby already Sad My thighs and bum are definitely bigger and I?m planning on getting into jogging after the baby is born. Don?t think I?ll be up to triathlon standard though ? wow!!
carlita - must be nice to not have to hide the bump and general pregnancy-ness! Are you planning on leaving work once the little one is born? Crikey ? very Envy of the ample bosom ? can I have a bit please?!
fools - that sounds awful about your ds?s hair Sad Is there any way another hairdresser might be able to fix it slightly? I bet it will grow back really quickly, though that?s not much consolation for you now.

I?m ten weeks now ? yay! It?s gone quite quickly the past few weeks and I?m starting to feel a bit better ? definitely not as tired or lethargic ? the dog is finally getting his proper walks again Blush

We told MIL at the weekend and she was super excited, which was lovely ? although we were both quite creeped out by her attempts at trying to work out the dates of conception Hmm Sidestepped that one? She also said ?well done!? several times, like we?ve passed some sort of text!

trope · 14/09/2011 23:14

ghost "visit from the boob fairy" - that's brilliant!! Grin what an awesome expression!!

I think you're very brave going for the sprint triathlon in June - is great to have a goal though - really focuses you on your body/recovering! Good luck! Grin I'm hoping to get back to squash within 4-6 weeks (assuming no c-section) as keeping fit is a really important part of managing my health problems. No idea how realistic I'm being - but figure if I aim for that, but don't beat myself up about it if it doesn't happen, then that's OK! Am a bit unsure about throwing myself around a squash court with boobs full of milk!! could get messy!

DP and I have looked at the city jogger - but we really want something parent facing, at least at first! Was gobsmacked when I saw the video showing it folding though - amazing!! Thanks for the suggestion though!! :)

Bun ooh! looking forward to seeing the scan pic! Have followed you on pinterest (and repinned some of your items - you've had loads more luck finding co-sleeper cots than me! you have the knack!!)

Is there any chance you could go for red as a colour for the kids room - red cars are the best/fastest (as everyone knows, right? red ferrari etc! Wink) and you can do nice bold butterflies in white on a red background or something like that for your girl? (Although as an ex tomboy type i'd say stick with the cars - girls can like them too! Wink)

Carlita - oh no - your iphone!!! Any idea where it has gone?? or is it gone for good do you think? what a pain :(

Do share your pinterest page with us - your dungarees/craft projects are awesome - would love to see what you've got pinned! :)

Good luck for the scan on Friday - very very exciting!! Looking forward to seeing your scan pics!! Grin

Fools it's fine to rant here - not "me me me" at all! We all do it! Is awful that they messed up your boys hair :( I'd definitely see if somewhere else can tidy it up / even it out a bit. Then go buy some beany hats - it's getting colder (only going to be 9c tomorrow when DP is due to leave for work) so you can totally get away with hats now I reckon! Fingers crossed his hair grows back super fast!

Piggy Glad you're feeling a bit better - good to know there's hopefully an end in sight to the fatigue and general feelings of crappiness! Great that your MiL was so pleased - but definitely a bit creepy that she tried to work out conception dates!! very Confused - i'm not sure I'd like MiL imagining me and DP at it for whatever the reason!!! Very very strange!!

My pinterest boards are here We haven't told many people about the pregnancy yet - hence the lack of a real name on my account - would be quite the giveaway if anyone I knew in RL found me pinning buggies and baby stuff!! I promise i'm not a hairy handed trucker pretending to be pregnant!! Wink I'll update it to Betsy soon, I promise Wink

Carlitawantsababy · 14/09/2011 23:29

Stupid BlackBerry! Great for email, utter shite for everything else! Sorry for the crap reply that follows just goes to show how crap my memory is as I cannot check back on what was written whilst replying or nip back and forth to notes as there's nothing nippy about this beast!
Yes piggy please do take some boobage, I am most annoyed by the size increases this year (randomly went up a cup size whilst ttc too)
Yes, I'm leaving work Grin when we move from London to Hastings and am going to be a mummy for a while!
Grrr I hate evil hairdressers.there is only one I trust, you'd think it'd be relatively simple really wouldn't you? No other business would get away with that sort of behaviour, make sure you complain once you're composed!
Boy/girl themed room sounds like a challenging design project!

Hi ladies,
tried following you all but pinterest isn't letting me at the mo so will have another go tomorrow. Love that your name is trope on it Grin Have found you too bun so will attempt to add tomorrow.
When do you move carlita? How exciting starting a totally new life Grin
