Evening ladies

Had a lovely day celebrating my sons 5th birthday with a great party.

Am dreading heartburn had it quite bad last time and if I remember it started around 20 weeks so only few weeks away.

Think I have thrush now as well as being on ab's for a uti, am feeling well apart from this so can't complain.

Feel like bump has grown over night and top part feeling harder for some reason and I know baby isn't that high yet must be pure solid fat ha!

My sister has lent me her dream geni pillow so look forward to my bed tonight as getting tired of having to construct a wedge inbeteren my legs each night our quilt is all out of shape now.

Hormones have had me blowing my top or crying hysterically this week which is so not me but at least I have an excuse Blush

Hope everyone is ok x

fishandlilacs · 21/08/2011 22:19

ooh nice bag Oiesha

I got this one as a leaving present from work.

ChocaMum · 21/08/2011 22:24

I am also struggling with the left hand side sleeping, I've always slept on my right hand side since as far as I can remember so it feels really unnatural sleeping on my left. Only another 4 months to go though!

oeisha I have this bag in red.

Although it isn't cheap, the extra straps that securely clip it onto the buggy handles make life so much easier. And it has several compartments which are handy with a growing dc (snacks, drinks, toys etc.) Also I like the plain colours as most come in crazy patterns that made me feel I am trying to be a yummy mummy, help!

ChocaMum · 21/08/2011 22:28

Happy birthday for your DS bighot, I hope he had a great time at his lovely party.

BigHotMama · 21/08/2011 22:49

Thanks chocamum, he has had a ball but he doesn't want to go to bed now :-/

When u say only 4 months left doesn't sound very long at all but saying jan 2012 seems like a lifetime?

Right need to go bed as my ds needs to sleep the little party animal.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/08/2011 08:12

I'm holding out for the free changing bag that you get when you join Boots parenting club, because that's the one all the ladies at my bumps and babies group swear by and I figure they've had the experience!

Luckily I'm fine sleeping on my left, the problem is I'm still trying to sleep on my front. Still just about achievable with some padding from various pillows but for how much longer...?

I had a great weekend (though could have done w/o my sister drinking too much and having to take care of her whilst she suffered the resulting digestive pyrotechnics) but am feeling distinctly pathetic now. Combination of still being tired and just being very clingy - wish DH could have stayed with me today :(
Am so pitiful.

Plus there's no chocolate in the house. Bad thing.

falabalamb · 22/08/2011 08:45

Happy birthday to your ds Bighotmama, it's my dd's 5th birthday tomorrow and she's already bouncing off the walls, so 5 years ago today, I was really, really, overdue and VERY grumpy!!!
My Boots changing bag split at the seams after not very long, but maybe I just got a dud! I've got a really nice bag from Roots, sent over to me from friends in the States. Had it 5 years now (wow, is it really that long ago) and still looks like new. Have you seen the ones on Etsy, they are soooooooo pretty (and pricey!!!!)
We've spent the weekend camping in the rain. I've decided that camping is no fun if your normal house is a building site. I can understand the novelty if you don't normally have to collect the water from your washing machine in a bucket and pour it down the toilet etc but I think I'll be waiting until our house is done up before I go camping again!! Did I mention we were supposed to be doing the house up before trying for a third baby...oops!!

ghosteditor · 22/08/2011 09:29

Morning ladies! Nice selection of changing bags there. I don't think I've got my mummy-head on yet as I can't even start thinking about changing bags. Think I'm in denial. Has anyone joined a really good parenting club? I've taken a look at Bounty but always get annoyed that they essentially reserve the right to sell your details to all and sundry. I already get enough junk mail, thanks. It would be worth it if I could be sure of receiving really good offers, but based on my Bounty pack, it will just be adverts (not even offers) for tat I just don't want!

Had a lovely weekend here (other than dropping DH off at the airport) but a nightmare Sunday night/Monday morning. Worse than the usual Monday Grin. I woke up at 4am with crippling stomach pains - (un)fortunately I've had the same thing once before and realised it was trapped wind not anything to do with pamplemousse, otherwise I would have been freaking out. But I had twisty stomach pain near the top of my bump and then frequent spikes of intense pain. No idea what I did to cause it. Got up and walked around a bit and finally got back to sleep after an hour or so (awful when you're waiting on the next wave of pain - doesn't bode well for labour).

So, having lots an hour's sleep, I was a bit grumpy when I woke up, but that was soon overtaken by the realisation that I had really awful back pain between my shoulder blades and was nearly immobile. I managed to get onto my hands and knees and shuffle to the edge of the bed. Fortunately I have all sorts of gadgetry (foam roller, exercise balls etc) from other exercises so managed to loosen it off a bit and do some stretching. Is much better now but am going to have to go see my physio (which I've been putting off for weeks) to get a magic fix. Just hope he doesn't press on my stomach!

Gosh, in the wars today... Pity me!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/08/2011 09:47

Poor old ghost - lots of pity coming your way!

Since your Dh is away, shout if you end up completely crippled and I'll fly in with some groceries :)

I feel greatly cheered up now. Spent 45 mins on the phone to my mum doing some virtual window shopping on JoJo Maman Bebe - I love the clothes I got from there via freecycle and now I've seen a winter coat, a wool cardie and a dress I also want from there as well as maybe a denim skirt from there and a wrap dress from Next... tum ti tum...
Am going to have to get the coat, esp if it's as cold as last year, but the other stuff... DH would buy it all for me if I asked, which is why the self control needs to come from me. Must be strong.

But it was all so purty :(

Right - what can I make for supper this week? I'm trying to make a shopping list and am struggling to think what to cook - I seem to have made it all very recently.

BigHotMama · 22/08/2011 10:09

Hey falabalamb happy birthday for your dd were you ever on the August 2006 thread? It's a great age for excitement and opening presents, my d's wants everything out today we've just set up the wii and getting roped into playing table tennis and sword fighting ha not sure if smurf liked being woken up.

Re changing bags I haven't looked yet but will treat myself to a good sturdy one this time with lots of compartments for stuff.

ghost sounds like your having right time with your back get it sorted as it might get worse in later pg hope physio helps.

Woke up at 4am for no reason and couldn't get back to sleep for ages I'm not uncomfy but think the geni pillow was more of a hindrance especially when turning over as have to reconstruct position.

Having a lazy day playing with ds toys the house is a tip but I don't really care Grin

ghosteditor · 22/08/2011 10:11

Thanks Cakes! My physio has a good record of miracle cures and since I can't actually recall doing anything to my back I'm hoping it will go as quickly as it came on.

Ooh, window shopping online! There are some nice things around - I hate that you can't tell the quality with online things though. I took a quick peak at Boden but just don't think I can bring myself to spend so much money. Surely we must be coming up for a sale season sometime soon?

I made veggie moussaka on Saturday which was full of veggies and lentils and chickpeas - trying to up my protein and calcium intake! How about homemade pizza? I love a homemade pizza. Roasted butternut squash or roasted sweet potato and feta are nice on pizz Grin.

addictediam · 22/08/2011 10:20

Makes cakes I love jojo maman bebe. The wash really well...but are just SO expensive!

Right who wants cake?
The worst thing about being a cake decorator is if you don't make your own cake, you don't get one! Sad right off to make a real birthday cake, enjoy the virtual one!

shonnomanom · 22/08/2011 11:13

mmmm yumyum Me LOVES cake!! Dp doesnt have much of a sweet tooth so I usually get to eat my cakes myself. He helps with the biscuits though.

Parenting Clubs - Tesco and Boots are good NO junk mail just vouchers

JoJo - Great clothes but their wood is poor quality. MN used to (not sure if they still do) offer a 10& discount. Also, if you sign up for their catalogue you get money off vouchers throughout the year.

Change Bags - Lovely bags ladies! The bag we got with the pram didnt last the year. We got a lovely big roomy bag frim TK Maxx for a fraction of its origianl cost. The Boots bag was good, but only for suitable for 1 child. They changed the bag this year, although they have improved on the few things that needed changing they have shrunk it slightly.

Happy Birthday to all the January Thread kiddies!!

Ghost hope you get helped by your physio soon.

I too was up for a while in the middle of the night. Although it was 4am when I got back to sleep. DD woke at half2 and it took forever for me to get back to sleep. Bobby seemed to think that if mum is up then it must be party time

Hope your all well x

ghosteditor · 22/08/2011 11:18

thanks for the advice on the clubs shonno, may look into the boots one as there's not really as Tesco nearby.

Being awake in the middle of the night is really quite a lonely experience, isn't it! Though I suppose being kicked by the bump counts as company...

ParsleyLion1 · 22/08/2011 11:55

BigHotMama I know the feeling - I woke up at 4.15am, wide awake! Had to get up for real at 5.30 so didn't get back to sleep (boo hiss). OH was snoring very loudly Don't know why I couldn't get back to sleep, so am expecting a dramatic fade this afternoon.

Fryn · 22/08/2011 12:09

ghost hope your physio works wonders. And your moussaka sounds divine! DH is veggie so I may have to have a go at that (although given half a chance he'd live on pasta alone).

Glad to see i wasn't the only one up in the middle of the night! DD seems to have an inbuilt alarm to wake up at 1.50am every morning and will only go back down if she's in with us. Although she then flops and thrashes for a good hour before settling. It's driving me a little bit nuts - DH is away next week so looking forward to shoving DD on his side and actually getting some sleep!

Saw the MW yesterday and heard G2's heartbeat - DD was with me and was utterly confused but quite excited by the funny noise. As was I!

On the changing bag front, I have a Skip Hop one similar to choca's. It's great as you can fix it to the bars of the buggy, but the one I have is basically open to the elements as there's only a small magnet holding the top part of the main compartment together, and frankly by the time you have all yours and baby's stuff in there, that won't stay closed, and if it rains you're stuffed! They do ones with a big flap cover thing, so I'd go for one of those if I could choose again.

I'm currently in a Jojo dress - bought in the sale, didn't bother trying it on, looked lovely in the catalogue, and has turned out to be a sack! Couldn't be bothered to change out of it though - it's so voluminous I should manage to get a seat on the tube tonight as it makes me look about 30 weeks! Generally love their stuff apart from this item!

ghosteditor · 22/08/2011 12:58

Thanks Fryn! Let me know if you want the recipe. It's so lovely to hear the heartbeat at the MW appointment, isn't it?

Yum yum, I will take some cake! I made a huge apple crumble last night so if anyone fancies any of that there's some going spare Grin

BigHotMama · 22/08/2011 13:22

Am eating like an oversized horse today can't stop? Blush toast, yoghurt, plums, bananas, at least it's mostly healthy.

All this talk of cake just reminded me we have tons of left over birthday cake in the fridge may go have a few slices as shame to waste it Wink

Parsley I was lucky enough to get back to sleep as off work but think you may need to get extra chocolate or sugar to help you this afternoon. Can't imagine having to wake up at 5.30 what job do you do?

Oeisha · 22/08/2011 13:56

'ello guys!

After my wild spending spree lastnight (I also stuck a book in with the changing bag) my my John Lewis list is here....squee! Might treat myself after my swim to a peek through all the stuff online again...BUT NOT buy anything...no, no I wont.

So much stuff!!! Most of it practical....like a million muslin cloths, pram, cat seat etc.
Ah! ghost Not had any trapped wind yet...well, not from that end. The delights of IBS. Anyway, I hope it's settled. I hope the backpain eases too. I only have minor muscular pains - thanks to an old injury, but that's bad enough.
bighotmama I ended up with my dreamgenii across my face/chest this morning. I think it's the slightly warmer weathermaking me wriggle. Either that or I'm missing DH...(not that he usually sleeps on my face...).

Anyway, I'd better get going if I'm gonna swim and shop (food, ergh)...

Oeisha · 22/08/2011 13:56

*car seat, not cat seat, though I'm sure they'd be pleased if they got a treat...

mummyzoe2012 · 22/08/2011 17:01

fitted wardobes are getting mesured up for on friday and then ordered for babas room, so can not wait for them to be in so we can get the room looking like a nursery with a nice new carpet and nice painted walls.

had a weee bit of bleeding today, baba is fine, had a low h/b this time was 140 to 146 and still sounded like a train!

had a injection to stop my body from building up anit bodies from the babas blood if its got diff to mine, didnt hurt that much just felt a bit weired.

not long till we have our next scan 7/9/12 and find out if we are a blue or a pink baba.

We need a list of what people are having should we start a stats thread or just update on here?

BigHotMama · 22/08/2011 17:53

Glad your ok mummyzoe must be scary to have a bleed and sounds like you might be having boy then? Can't wait to hear smurfs hb.
We have new carpet set up in nursery but only problem is you can't actually see it due to boxes n bags of stuff we have accumulated since moving 2 years ago hopefully get to it at some point Blush

Oiesha lol at your pillow mishap I wish I could lie in same position all night as it's the turning over that really wakes me up as have to think about not rushing or get twinges. I hadn't got a clue how to position pillow as forgot to ask sister luckily found a diagram on google images lol.

Am constantly sitting with hand on belly going to feel a kick but still no joy yet must be well cushioned as can feel internal movement. Can't wait for that special first proper kick.

I'm craving pickled onions today anyone else having cravings?

Nanny01 · 22/08/2011 17:54

Would be fun mummyzoe to see id those sonographers were right. I'm still waiting for my nappies to arrive from Tescos. Hope you are ok I had a little bleed at 6 weeks and it really freaked me out. My dh said oh we shouldn't by anything till the baby's here as he thinks there will be better sales but he has forgotten that there is an awful lot of stuff to buy just after Christmas.

Deesus · 22/08/2011 19:58

Hi Ladies! Just had a quick catch up on the last few pages Smile

Got my 20 week scan tomorrow and we'll be finding out the sex if we can....watch this space!

GiraffeAHolic · 22/08/2011 20:11

Hi All,

Had 20 week scan on Friday, Baby was being stubborn and wouldn't move for spine measurements despite the sonographer ramming the scanny thingy into my tummy over and over again Hmm had to go for a wander (and a wee Blush) and fortunately Baby switched sides.

We saw a really clear close up of a foot which was amazing :)

We haven't decided on a pram, I can't one that I love. Dh really liked the ICandy Peach Jogger and so did I but it's just so expensive, we are going to view the ICandy Strawberry when it come out, wondering about the BabyStyle Osyter but it's not really that much cheaper.

My tummy has really popped, I feel a lot further than 21 weeks.

Oh and a heads up, I got a leaflet from Asda today and their Baby and Toddler Event starts on August 30th. Sterilisers/breast pumps/toiletries/stair gates and all sorts reduced if it's any good to anyone :)
