Its all gone a bit quiet

I hope you are ok meme?

DenyEverything · 03/08/2011 11:14

Hello all
can I join in? Am about same as you biscuits and due on 30th march. Am forking out for scan on Sat as had virtually no symptoms initially. Now of course I feel like a sack of s* but can't cancel scan as too excited about it.
meme glad you got to see a heartbeat too, although must be mixed feelings about sac.

allhailtheaubergine · 03/08/2011 11:42

What we need is some Michael Bolton to get this party started.

I am packing to go on me holls tomorrow. And by 'packing' I mean 'shouting at my children to stop changing outfits seven times a day' and pausing periodically to eat some fudge or vomit into a strategically placed bucket.

Hello Deny. Welcome to the Vomitorium. It says on the door that we Brooking No Argument, but personally I feel Brooked to death.

DenyEverything · 03/08/2011 11:47

ah, that's better. Thanks Aub. Sorry to hear your holiday preparation is being interrupted by revisiting your stomach contents several times an hour. I'm almost there I think. Not helped by having to pass work kitchen on way to toilet (average number of pees per hour = 7) and someone is cooking smoked haddock chowder.

Purplebuns · 03/08/2011 12:03

Deny Congratulations! Smoked haddock chowder Envy sick at the thought, although I have been fancying Mussels am I allowed them?

Aubs that sounds like the sort of packing I would do if Dd was bigger, however this is also how I am doing housework with DH.

DenyEverything · 03/08/2011 12:09

thanks purple. think the main issue with mussels is possibility of Hepatitis A with undercooked seafood. Frankly I think if you're hardcore enough to fancy mussels you should eat them purely because you must have a constitution of steel - respect.

biscuits I used babybond for last scan at 50 squids not too expensive either. They're near Shrewsbury which I know is W midlands but may not be too far from you? Also it looked like it was based on a farm which interestingly I quite liked Confused

Purplebuns · 03/08/2011 12:14

Hepatitis A
So if I microwave them for a bit longer then? Wink

It would be funny if I do get on with them since I can't eat so many simple things! Last week though the only meal I enjoyed was a Salmon salad.

allhailtheaubergine · 03/08/2011 13:05

It is so strange what you fancy.

I can eat almost nothing, no matter how bland or inoffensive, no matter how familiar or comforting - no toast, no mashed potato, no plain biscuits, no weak orange squash... but I have managed to eat a slice of mozzarella and pesto pizza, and a bag of fudge. Sometimes I go hours and hours without even keeping water down... and then keep down a tumbler of fresh orange juice.

Eet meks noh senze.

My lovely neighbour came round yesterday with a dish of some sort of rice soupy thing that pregnant women in Japan eat (neighbour is Japanese). It was so sweet and thoughtful of her. I managed half a teaspoon. 3yo son adored it though. It had egg in it. BLEURRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. (I usually love eggs but they have become the most vile and offensive thing ever).

Biscuitsandtea · 03/08/2011 22:21

Evening all,

Quickie as on phone in back end of nowhere with no signal. Just to say hi to Deny thanks for the scan advice, I might see if they have a branch my way. Good luck with your scan - How many weeks will you be?

Hope everyone else is ok, will catch up on Fri when I'm back with the actual Internet and a keyboard Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 09:13

Where are you all?

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 05/08/2011 09:25

Hi, may I join? I have been lurking on the conception thread but didn't quite feel like I belonged. I got my BFP on Sunday - hurray! Gosh, it's less than a week ago and it feels like ages. This will be my second baby, but my first was stillborn at 41+3, so I am completely a touch petrified. I need some chatty people who will blether about anything and everything to keep my mind off scary things!

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 09:30

Hi Too. Congratulations on your BFP and sorry to hear of your previous loss. I only got my BFP a week and a bit ago - think I must be about 6 and a bit weeks along now so still incredibly early days. I have a DS (almost 3) but before him had a mc at 10 weeks so am very quietly bricking it a bit about the early stages. But the ladies here are very good for distracting me from mentalling about everything (well, at least a bit Smile).

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 05/08/2011 09:44

Si, I know the bricking it feeling only too well! Am averaging about 3 trips to the toilet an hour to check for spotting. However, in the spirit of this thread I will just have to Brook No Argument and embrace the positivity - this pregnancy will be entirely fine and uneventful and birth will be totally pain-free!

According to my LMP, I'm 6+6, but I got 2 BFNs before my BFP, so I think I may be closer to 6 weeks than 7. Roll on my 8 week scan (embracing positivity, because have asked MW to refer me to a different hospital and consultant and I don't yet know if this consultant will let me have an 8 week scan!)!

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 09:50

Oooh fingers crossed you get an 8 week scan. I have my booking in appt at 8 weeks and doubt they'll refer me for an early scan because we had DS after the mc. But can't hurt to ask. It's a different mw and hospital than I had for my mc and pg with DS because we've moved house so will just ask and see what they say. If they say no I might think about getting a private one done. I would really like to be able to tough it out until 12 weeks but it just seems like an AGE away! Anyway, by telling myself that I'll ask the mw first then that stops me doing anything for another fortnight. Then we'll see how we're going.

I know what you mean about the toilet trips though - pregnant people should get some kind of toilet roll allowance from the government!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 05/08/2011 10:08

Toilet roll allowance plus maternity clothes allowance! I did a bit of Brooking yesterday and ordered some new maternity clothes and then gibbered in terror at my temerity from the Topshop sale. Sales are all very well and good, but summer dresses are not actually going to get me very far with a March due date. So I foresee much more spending to come!

Imps7 · 05/08/2011 10:11

Hello, just wanted to pop in as I have an urge to sing a Michael Ball ballad, but don't think the other As Yet Not Pee Stick Endorsed Pregnant People will appreciate it, but I know that you will...

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 10:19

Hello Imps love the song choice. Clearly a sign of your upduffedness Smile

Too I know what you mean about the maternity clothes thing. I have all mine tucked away in the loft and daren't get them down but was idly looking on eBay the other day and found a maternity jumper that I liked and accidentally bought it! It arrived this morning and I quickly folded it up and snaffled it away in my jumper box hoping that DH fate wasn't watching Confused

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 05/08/2011 10:37

Aaargh, now have Michael Ball in my head!

hmmm hmm hmmm

Much better!

Purplebuns · 05/08/2011 11:25

Coffee smells?

Hello everyone! Sorry for your losses, it makes everything so much harder! I wasn't able to have an early scan even though I have had two losses in a row, as I haven't had any problems so far, gits.
So, I went private and it has soothed me a lot to see and hear that lovely heart beat and at least I have pics if it does go tits up, which it won't!
I am counting down to 10 weeks as that is when I lost my furthest along baby like you Biscuits :( 9 more days and I will be there!
Anyway, buying maternity wear is good, I wore some M jeans the other day and can't wait until I can wear them all the time as I am so uncomfortable!
I hope everything is going well still for everyone :)

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 11:40
Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 11:46

Deny - I've just googled Baby Bond and they have a branch near me but the prices on the internet are £99 for an early scan. How did you get it so cheap?

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 05/08/2011 11:48

Have just Googled private scans near me and the 2 companies I have found so far are charging £80 and £90 for their early scans. One company says it won't do it until 10 weeks, though. I shall just have to Brook No Argument from the consultant and beg demand an 8 week scan.

9 days until 10 weeks, Purple! Envy

I begged DH to invent a time machine and go forward 9 months to tell me what happens, and he refused because it was too much bother. What sort of crappy reason is that?! If he'd said he wasn't a scientist and didn't know where to start I would have accepted it. Git. (decides git is new favourite word)

DenyEverything · 05/08/2011 11:51

I'm an idiot biscuits, I've just double checked and the one I'm going to is called babyvision, near shrewsbury. Don't think they have any other branches. It was 50 in 2009 when I had it the first time, its now 75 so a bit cheaper than babybond. Am off there tomorrow evening, will be 6/40 by dates so am about the same as you.

aubs that description of miso-type soup with egg in it is enough to have made me boak prior to kind neighbour handing it over.

I've got new person at work sitting in with me all morning so haven't been able to dose myself with Rich Tea every 2.5minutes. Managed to limit myself to 2 wees rather than my usual 16 (not in the room, you understand, it doesn't give a very good first impression of this place)

DenyEverything · 05/08/2011 11:53

by the way, hi to too and congratulations on BFP. Would have thought brooking no argument with consultant is your best bet given your previous history.

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 11:59

Found a company in Nottingham called Pro Scan who do an early scan for £75 but am determined to hang on until 8 weeks if I possibly can. Whilst googling I found a comment from someone on a website somewhere where they had got a private scan at their local hospital for a lot less money than the 'private' companies so am going to hope we get to our appt at 8 weeks (obv brooking no argument along the way) and then ask the mw if she can recommend anyone or if the hospital will do one? There is a CARE clinic in Derby so I wonder if they would sell you just a scan?

Deny good luck with your scan tomorrow.

Purple we're ticking those days off with you :)
