Oh, and Deny - Not an idiot - it's Baby Brain! :)

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 12:14

And no doubt the fact that you forgot it was baby brain was in fact more evidence of baby brain at work!

Purplebuns · 05/08/2011 12:16

My scan was £70 and that was the cheapest in my area, the private hospital wanted £160! I had mine at 7+4 and they usually said they wouldn't do it before 8 weeks on their website however, when I spoke to them they were a bit more flexible.

Dumbledore I can't believe it myself, although 9 days is ages, when you are taking it one day at a time, with neuroses galore Wink How many days for you Biscuits?

I have been totally off tea and coffee, yet we were given some Maxwell House Cappucino sachets and I actually managed nearly a whole cup, I usually wouldn't touch these things with a 10ft bargepole! I still fancy Mussells, I may buy some today as it is so compelling...

Anyone want to add their details to the stats thread?

DenyEverything · 05/08/2011 12:21

Thanks biscuits. I am hereby blaming my general dimwitted demeanour on hormones. Hooray!

purple am willing the time to fly until you're beyond 10 weeks, will be a relief I'm sure.

Always difficult to know who to tell at these early stages isn't it? especially for those of us who've had pregnancy losses in the past. My Dad saw some alcohol-free beer in my shopping the other day so I had to tell him (says a lot about me that any other excuse would be unbelievable Blush) and it was as though I was 14 rather than 36 the look he gave me.

DenyEverything · 05/08/2011 12:24

have added stats purp thanks.

mussels and Maxwell House, now there's a combination.

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 12:24

Oh gosh about a million days until I am 10 weeks Purple! 26 in fact - gah!

However, 8 weeks is my milestone which is 12 days away with my booking in appt the day after so 13 days away (for those who were struggling to work out what the day after day 12 would be.... Smile

Sorry to hear you've gone off coffee and tea Purple. Weird how it works isn't it. When pg with DS I went right off spicy food etc. Am trying to have spicy things as often as I can now in case it happens again :)

I imagine it would be rather a good thing if I went off biscuits and perhaps cake Hmm

Biscuitsandtea · 05/08/2011 12:29

Argh Denyknow what you mean about the Pap don't preach thing although in my case it was Mama don't preach Blush.

My mum was looking at pics of DS on my phone and came across a pic I had taken of my bfp to send to DH who was away!! That was why I had to tell her - no way I would have otherwise. And I had been really careful to delete the photo off the computer and everything like that because we have this Apple TV thing where you get a screensaver of random photos from your photo library, so is mostly made up of nice family photos and then the odd thing I've sold on ebay or something. Imagine if you had people round and there's a picture of a positive pg test crawling up the tv screen........ Blush

I still feel really embarrassed that she knows so soon and that if I am only 6 weeks pg then I must have been having sex just a matter of weeks ago :(

Purplebuns · 05/08/2011 12:51

My pil know and a couple of friends and DH know.

Deny My dad could hardly talk to me about my pregnancy until I was about 25 weeks as he really struggled to come to terms with his baby girl, having a baby! Obviously he now adores DD and I think he likes her even more than me now. :o

Biscuits 8 weeks was one of my milestones as MC rates are greatly reduced apparently, not very comforting for when you have a loss later than this though! Seeing the heartbeat was fab as the risk is something like 3-5% then, which are odds even I can enjoy! I hope the days pass quickly for you and us all :)

I can eat hardly anything unless it happens to be laden with fat! Most vegetables are too rich and I did have some chip shop curry sauce last night. However I was aware of that, this morning.

And hilarious about them knowing you have had sex, I know the feeling but I am not too bothered, I am fairly relaxed about these things for some reason! Hmm

DenyEverything · 05/08/2011 13:22

Smile at your Dad not being able to contemplate you being pregnant purp. My folks came over to look after our dog when I went into hospital to have DC1 and when I got back the place was like a new pin and they announced, "please don't ever do this again, we can't cope with the worry".

Hilarious for the pregnancy test to come up in full colour on your telly biscuits. If I know my parents, they would just studiously ignore it, looking everywhere but the 42" screen!

Have spent a good proportion of my day at work deciding on the curry order for tonight. I've virtually practised saying it I'm so desperate for a good curry. Am a bit worried that when I answer the phone at work I will blurt out "1 chana masala, 2 boiled rice, 1 tarka dhal and a chicken madras" in a high-pitched squeal.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 05/08/2011 16:25

Grin at the curry order, Deny! Have already slipped in my good intentions and decided to get a chipper for dinner. Strangely enough, though, I have gone off biscuits and cake and chocolate, Biscuits (although not you, clearly! ), which also happened the last time. It didn't last long - by the 3rd trimester I was practically living on chocolate. Blush I actually gave DH the last 2 biscuits in the packet instead of saying it was one for me and for the baby.

Purple, I have added myself to the stats list, but my EDD is a guess because my last cycle before conceiving was 56 days Hmm and I found out I was pregnant on CD 42 or 43 this time, so I'm not really sure what the EDD will be.

Oooh, are we adding a bit of classic Madonna to the power ballads now?

mememummy · 05/08/2011 23:38

Some sick some spotting a naughty 3year old =very tired me holiday in two weeks and I am officially 8weeks today! Had my bloods done and bought maternity clothes as well today I think I'm nesting

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 06/08/2011 21:16

It's ok! Don't panic! call back the search parties I'm home from the wilds of scotland safe a sound. I know you all just missed me terribly :o

Anyway, hurrah and welcome to the lovely new people. It is super great to see such a total lack of any brooking of arguements what so ever. Keep up the good work. Hurrah!

Glad to see I am not the only one to have bought early maternity clothes, though I already wear my jeans all the time as they are soo comfy and I can't stand anything else round my waist.

I cooked a baked potato in the oven today for the first time in years! Gosh, it was amazing with some tuna and cheese though...wow...just reliving that moment :)

Hope you are feeling better today meme. Where is everyone?

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 06/08/2011 21:21

Just done my stats and noticed I am the only one on there expecting DC1. Surely I am not the only person here on their first?

I suddenly feel like the new kid at school when everyone else knows what they are doing...

Biscuitsandtea · 06/08/2011 21:30

Welcome back Hiding Smile. Sounds like you had a great time. Hope the vomming didn't interfere.

I noticed that everyone on the stats seemed to be on no 2 - what are the odds. However I certainly wouldn't put myself I'n the 'knows what they're doing' category! If anything DS has taught me that I most definitely don't know what I'm doing! Confused.

Hope everyone else is ok. How's Aubers doing? Hopefully not too Envy(sick not envious).

Imps7 · 07/08/2011 09:07

Oooh Hiding I am attempting to create my first child, so I will be with you shortly to feel lost and panicked and not have the slightest idea what to do keep you company. This month damned well will be my month and I am not brooking the slightest argument.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/08/2011 09:12

Just remembered that Denyeverything had her scan yesterday. Hope everything went ok?

LoveInAColdChamberOfSecrets · 07/08/2011 09:37

Morning all! Hope we're all enjoying a nice relaxing weekend? Hiding - I'm also on #1 so we can not know what we're doing together. Off to do stats after this. Scan yesterday, all looking good and only one in there which I had been starting to worry about as I'm getting huge already! Can't get into most of my clothes Blush. I think it might be because am quite small so any bloating/water retention/swelling uterus doesn't have much space to exist unless it bulges out and makes me look about four months pregnant. Doctor freaked me out by looking at me and DH (who is about twice my size) and smirking "well, if it's his size you'll be in trouble, won't you?" As DH weighed 12lb when he was born I failed to find this encouraging.

DenyEverything · 07/08/2011 11:09

Morning all!
imps and hiding, although I'm expecting DC2, I'm still pretty clueless about most things parent-related.
Scan went well. Foetus was brooking no argument and kept hiding so it entailed a fanjo-scan but all worth it to see the little fella.
Hope everyone "well", and by that I mean managing to keep small amounts of bland food down.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/08/2011 11:11

Glad the scan was good Deny :)

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 07/08/2011 14:03

Hello people! Glad to hear scans went well, Love and Deny. No scan news for me yet because MW hasn't come back with an appt, grr!

Am officially 7+1 today! Have developed some lovely new symptoms - constant nausea but no actual vomming. Also, a very unhappy digestive tract. When does the nice hair start? I am moulting like a dog!

Love, my MW said that in her experience women don't tend to have babies that are too big for them - I am 5'2" and DH is 5'11", and DD weighed 6lb15oz. She was long but thin. So you should be okay!

LoveInAColdClimate · 07/08/2011 18:13

Thanks, Dumbledore. I also have the 24 hour a day nausea but no actual vomming, and also have an unhappy digestive tract Blush. In which, er, direction is yours unhappy? I am so constipated, the doctor during my scan pointed out my poo-filled bowel on the scan to DH which was lovely of her. A friend had terrible diarrhoea for most of her first trimester though which sounds even worse. Am hoping it sorts itself out soon for both of us...

Also really hope you're right about baby size, thanks for reassurance!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 07/08/2011 18:36

Aargh, MN went offline and I lost my post!

Love, my unhappiness is the opposite of yours. Blush I hope it sorts itself out soon too! I keep getting crampy feelings and then I panic.

mememummy · 08/08/2011 00:15

Tool don't be fooled my size I was a size 8 5ft 2 dh 5ft 6 and our dd1 was 9.9lb and 58 cm long....

DenyEverything · 08/08/2011 09:59

How is everyone this morning?
Love I do love the idea of your bowel contents being pointed out on a screen for your DH to have a look at. Lovely. Please leave your dignity at the door.
Dumbledore sorry to hear about bowel woes. I think one way or another the first trimester is about spending more time in the toilet than you ever thought possible.
I am feeling even worse than usual today after toddler up most of the night.

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 08/08/2011 10:16

Morning all.

Phew Love I'm glad I am not the only one. Come and join us soon Imps!

Glad to hear of all the fab scan news :)

I have to agree that I really don't remember anyone telling me quite how much of an event going to the toilet would become once I was pregnant. I am, however, developing this rather unrealistic idea that as soon as I hit 12 weeks all my horrid symptoms will magically disappear and I will morph into an image of blooming motherhood complete with flowing white dress and knowing smile. I suspect I am going to be somewhat disapointed Hmm

Booking in appointment with midwife today. I somehow managed to cut my thumb while completing the form thing and have got blood all over it. Not sure that this is going to create quite the impression of calm and wholesome homelife I was aiming for.
