Meme - 7wks due 22 march 2012 dc%232

Add em on xx

Scan mon can't wait and petrified at the same time! DD is convinced it's twins lol xx

CalypsoFramboise · 31/07/2011 08:13

Fabulous news about all the scans! Makes me very joyful :)

Good luck meme tomorrow, hope your DH came back / stopped giving you the mess-about

Aubers I had a low-lying placenta at 9wks, 13wks, 21wk scans but had moved by the 36wk scan and was able to have an uneventful (relatively!) home-birth. IIRC there's a wait and see, and usually everything rights itself approach here (with my midwives at least) so I don't think you'll get a final idea until perhaps later in the pg?

here Don't think I spend a single second not thinking very un-positive thoughts about the progress of this pg, still not a single symptom, no weight gain, no cravings, nothing at all. So some empathy! I keep charting (steadily high temp) and testing (yay BFP yesterday!) but I think I'm kidding myself I'll notice if something isn't right somewhere...

pomme :o @ bottom-trumping, a-less-then-ideal pg symptom

Drinks-wise, last time around I completely went off tea/coffee too and found drinking just a mug of boiled water (at tea-drinking temp) was actually a good placebo :)

Biscuitsandtea · 31/07/2011 09:33

Here and Calypso I'm not so very far behind you two. Think I would be due 28 March but am currently only 5+4 which seems further behind than my due date? Anyway, not enough symptoms for my liking here either. DH doesn't think we should have an early scan Sad. No point pushing it now I don't think so will wait until I am perhaps 7 weeks and then start applying pressure.

Hope everyone else is ok this morning Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 31/07/2011 09:34

Oh and good luck tomorrow Meme Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 31/07/2011 09:38

Incidentally just for research purposes how would I fund a place to do s private scan? We live in the East Midlands and just had a google but nothing obvious... Are there any national chains or anything? Thanks

Biscuitsandtea · 31/07/2011 09:39

FIND a place not fund it - I'm not a secret millionaire Smile

allhailtheaubergine · 31/07/2011 10:24

Well hummmmmmm.

I'm just back from the hospital. Apparently I have a blood clot underneath my low lying placenta and they have told me not to travel. I tried to understand why exactly I shouldn't fly, and it seems to be more to do with a general ban on anyone pregnant flying under 3 months (which I think is a nonsense) and also because if I did bleed I would not be a handy 10 minutes down the road from my local hospital. But, the thing is, I'm not bleeding and I haven't had any bleed at all. If hadn't had that early scan I wouldn't even know about it. But I did, so I do...

Oh I really don't know what to do for the best. It seems a bit overcautious to cancel a holiday based on this.

I wish I had thought to ask if there was a specific risk re blood clot and flying.

Oh, and she said I should be taking extra folic acid which made me feel guilty because with all the vomming I often don't manage it.

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 31/07/2011 12:10

Wow! Thanks for all the drinks suggestions, I will have to have some kind of testing session :)

that really is a tricky one aubers. I haven't heard anything at all about not flyingin early pregnancy as a general rule, and as I am getting on a plane in about 4 hours I have had a pretty good look.

The medical peeps are always going to be over cautious because that is there job. Could you call them back and ask exactly what and how much of a risk they feel it is? This will help you to make an informed decision about whether the risk is something you are happy to take. You may feel you are happy to except a small amount of risk whereas they might feel it is their duty to advise you not to, in the end it is your choice. Also is it a long or short flight, this would make a big differance for me, starting to bleed on a flight lasting a couple of hours I could maybe live with whereas the same on a 10 hour flight would be rather more truamatic.

Not sure if I am being any help here. I guess you are the only one who can decide.

Aubers - I have a blood clotting disorder and even when not pg am quite careful about flying. This pg I will probably avoid flying but with dd when I was 11 weeks gone some close friends were getting married in Greece and dh was best man. I spoke to lots of doctors who told me that the risk was minimum as I was on meds and could further be minimised (flight socks, moving about etc). They wouldn't say there was no risk but said it was small and ultimately up to me. I went and all was fine.

This time no real reason to fly so will avoid. If I had a reason again though I think I would.

Did they tell you anything re meds and blood clots? Baby aspirin, heparin etc??

mememummy · 31/07/2011 21:51

I am flying at 10 weeks I flew this time and I need sun and anti emetic visiting has kicked in big time the past two days San in morn so nervous x

mememummy · 31/07/2011 21:51

Vomiting

CalypsoFramboise · 01/08/2011 07:06

good luck meme, hope you get the result you want!

aubers flying; when I had a low-lying placenta, I was advised to cancel a trip but that was due to working on a VERY remote Greek island where the nearest proper medical facilities were a helicopter ride away, nothing was mentioned about any issues related to the flight to Greece itself...

biscuit due date is fertility-friend's guesstimate related to my date of ovulation and the week-count is related to my 31 day cycle length so unsuprising it might not tally with your dates! its all guess work until the dating scan and then babies are never born on time anyway :)

private scan just googled private baby ultrasound, I'm in London and I'm having one for £75, if none around where you are, can you pop to London?

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 07:16

Good luck today Meme

Calypso I know what you mean about the dates. I've not put too much thought into mine, just LMP and cycle length 28 days. As you say they look at it at the scan and then they pop out when they're good and ready anyway. DS came 3 weeks early (which on reflection I was quite pleased about as 3 weeks less of being a whale and even though technically he was prem by one day he was 'cooked' iyswim - he was just ready). I had only packed my hospital bag the day before...... Blush

Morning to everyone else.

allhailtheaubergine · 01/08/2011 07:38

Thanks for your thoughts on this chaps.

Yes, I think the issue is if I did start to bleed I would be on a 10 hr flight instead of 10 mins down the road from the hospital. It's not the fact of being in an aeroplane, although it is slightly the fact that I am supposed to be resting and taking it easy and travelling 4000 miles with 2 small children does not fit their definition of resting. But they haven't given me any medication because I am NOT bleeding and so far have not had any bleeding at all.

But then, they are very very cautious as a matter of course over here. They have a general policy of advising not to make any trips away from home whatsoever within the first three months of any pregnancy. They are very keen to prescribe bed rest at the slightest provocation. This is a country where married women often do not work and everyone (except me!) has servants to do the housework and look after the kids. Pregnant women have drivers so they don't have to drive. It's a different culture.

I am a very laid back traveller, I won't be stressed, I am quite capable of asking a nice young man to lift my cases off the carousel, and the children are not toddlers to lug about. I think that given that I am not and have not been bleeding, I shall go and take it easy.

Me me me me me me me. Did I mention me?

Sorry to hear about the vomming Meme.

How is everyone else?

mememummy · 01/08/2011 08:35

I would love a housekeeper Blush nerves er yes I think it's just the one but I can only wear leggings now nothing fits so wouldn't be surprised if ther was more will update int about an hour

LoveInAColdChamberOfSecrets · 01/08/2011 09:33

Aubers - that sounds sensible. Do you think you'll be able to get plenty of rest while you're away, as well?

Good luck, meme!

I feel so sick all I want to do is lie down. But I have this pesky job that keeps getting in the way. Scan booked for Saturday. I was having kittens earlier as my friend's baby, with whom I play a lot, had suspected Slapped Cheek Syndrome. I am booked in for blood tests as a precaution, but he is now much better so hoping was a misdiagnosis anyway...

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 09:43
pommedechocolat · 01/08/2011 10:03

Update meme update! IS it two (or more??)????

I am feeling MORE nauseous at the mo but less shattered and grumpy.

Had first half of booking in with midwife and then she's coming here on sat to do big questionnaire form.

Purplebuns · 01/08/2011 11:05

Maybe meme is reeling in shock from there being FOUR in there? Wink
I would love a cleaner! I am feeling too sick atm to do much about it, however I definitely need to before this afternoon!

I am 8 weeks now and I really feel I have passed a milestone!I am also counting down the days until my 12 week scan now. (31)
I am worrying about going to work tomorrow after 10 days of holiday, I have to run around a lot and I think I am going to be so exhausted.
I might do a stats thread...

Purplebuns · 01/08/2011 11:14

Stats thread I hope you like it I made it up a bit, I added my county as I am very nosy and want to know were you are!

allhailtheaubergine · 01/08/2011 12:57

Well, while I am fiddling with the details - blood clots and vomiting and scans and the like - my husband has just phoned to tell me he has bought an 8 seater car. He is a 'big picture' sort of chap. Apparently we'll need the extra space, what with a whole new tiny little snuffly baby in the family, and me only driving a piddly wee 7-seater 4x4.

It's a jolly good job I love him an enormous amount!

mememummy · 01/08/2011 13:32

Just one heartbeating bean and another empty sac doctor says the sac will either come out or disperse either way there gonna leave it my one bean is due 17th march :) x

allhailtheaubergine · 01/08/2011 14:10

Hooray for a happy heartbeating bean! And I hope you are feeling okay about the empty sac. x

Biscuitsandtea · 01/08/2011 16:09

Meme so glad you got to see a heartbeat at the scan. You must be quite pleased? Hope you're feeling OK about the other sac xx

pommedechocolat · 01/08/2011 18:32

thirding the above - congrats on the bean and hope you're okay about the empty sac. xx
