astar congratulations and a lovely name too, are you having a middle name? Just nosy interested :)
mrsv I had massive pains under my bump yesterday - felt sort of like period pain but more pins and needly, iyswim? Was walking round town and kept having to stop in my tracks. No runs, but loose, and no show either, although I'm sure I heard not everyone gets one. Crazy braxton hicks all day yesterday and today too, and she wont stop moving at all, really active. Am just so bloody ready for her to come now - 37+4 now. Hopefully all the plans I've made this week for having my mates/mum/stepmum to come see me will make her get started!
yukana hope you're getting somewhere with making a decision about what you'll do re a section. Your DP has got to ask for the day off, it would be ridiculous for them not to allow it, even if they make him take a days holiday. Tell him to stop being so selfish (sorry, but I think it really is)- you're the one giving birth!
Good luck to everyone else if anythings happening! :)

KLou111 · 31/07/2011 20:36

Well, got through the day, and STILL have a constant stabbing pain on bikini line that I've had since yesterday afternoon (left side), and it's doing my sodding head in. Hurts more every time I move. Bloody BH been on and off regularly all day too.
Will call MW re my scan first thing, and ask her about it all as I had a small show on Tuesday morning too.

Jenni and MrsV glad it not just me getting this pain!!!!

klou I think it's just a bad fecking joke by mother nature. No, you can't just have a day of pain while you're in labour, I'm going to make you really fecking uncomfortable for two weeks beforehand and make you question every bloody twinge and niggle too.
I've just got a v shaped pillow. Omfg, why didn't I get one of these 3 months ago?!

SelinaDoula · 31/07/2011 22:50

Now my DP is 3 hours away and I'm at home with my birthing pool, maybe it will all kick of now!

Rehune · 31/07/2011 23:55

Why does everyone call you to check if you have gone into labour? My due date is actually today (1st August) but have been fending off calls all week. It's crazy but I feel like apologising! (Can't spell)

MrsVidic · 01/08/2011 07:06

I'm getting tired of waking up and realising I'm not in labour! Nothing further on the pains - mean while I can't stop eating !

JenniL1977 · 01/08/2011 07:14

Oooh, MrsV that's a good sign!
I keep having dreams that my bump's just disappeared entirely. What's that about?
Rehune put your phone on silent. Like you'd answer the phone if you were in labour! I'm already getting those calls and texts and I've got 16 days to my EDD yet - I can see this getting very boring, very soon. "Have you had her yet?" - yep, 3 weeks ago actually, I'm just keeping it secret because I think it's funny.
My SIL phoned me last night and airily told me that it could be another month yet. Yep, thanks for that. :)

littlemisslozza · 01/08/2011 07:48

Selina that would just be sod's law!
Klou hope you get your scan today and that the pain either turns to labour or goes.

Totally sympathise with those of you going overdue, I went 11 days over with DS1 (he ended up being a September baby rather than August) and got so fed up of people asking if he'd been born and telling me to enjoy my last few days of rest. Yes, life as you know it does totally change and there is always something to do but that does not help you when you are overdue, hormonal and impatient! Agree Jenni that you are hardly going to keep it a secret once baby arrives....! Just try to think that it's nice people are interested, there is less overt excitement (except from grandparents and a few close friends) when it's your second or third in my experience.

7 days until I meet my baby! This time next week we'll be arriving at the hospital for my ELCS. Busy week ahead though first with DS2's birthday and lots to get ready for while I'm in hospital.

KLou111 · 01/08/2011 10:14

Just quickly checking in. Have my scan at 11.30 and they're going to check me over cos of this pain too. Not too bad today but they said would rather check me over.

Firawla · 01/08/2011 10:42

good luck for your scan klou
i am going in today i think i am supposed to be having a sweep, urghh. i hate sweeps! but they better do it otherwise i will feel like i've wasted my time going to drop dcs off at mils before going in for the appointment, as thats further away than the hosp. hope they can atleast manage to reach the cervix if they do it, unlike with ds1!
had some cramping period pain kinda things last night, which seems like a good sign atleast maybe he is starting to get ready to think of coming out, so hopefully that will make things bit easier for fri
good luck everyone else having any pains hopefully the babies will all be on their way before too long

daisysair · 01/08/2011 10:42

Popping in to see you all (been awol just getting through DIY and pregnancy)

Congrats to the 5 (?) that have given birth, love the photos mrs S

The heat's not fab for the final few weeks is it? (am just over 38 weeks today, but my mum and gran predicted that the baby will arrive today (DH's bday) we'll see-head's down, braxton hicks are regular, feel sick, sore boobs, puffy feet, constipated with piles too-so glamorous and yet so exciting!! Have got the go ahead for birthing unit which is fab. Just made a hair appt for after Drs appt on Thursday-in the hope that making plans will make baby come lol.

Just off outside to hang out the final batch of baby stuff that needed washing (extra muslins, nappy wraps, cot sheets etc)

CappuccinoCarrie · 01/08/2011 10:49

Congrats star (sorry slightly belated, been reading but not had time to post!)
Can't believe its August today...the countdown is now in days not weeks, 17 for me! I've had a few BH but sometimes I think the 'tight' feeling is just baby having a jolly good stretch, but its run out of room so it feels like a BH!
DH thinks the baby is coming on Friday, no particular reason to think that. ILs arrive tomorrow for a few days of helping out/mowing the lawn/building the cot etc (DH still can't use his broken arm so we need the help!). I've got my pregnancy massage booked for wednesday so I don't want to go into labour before that, would be such a shame to miss it! And my best friend and birth partner is on holiday this week so I really don't want to go into labour just yet!
Has anyone set up a thread on post-natal yet? Just don't want to lose those that have given birth but I'd feel like a fraud doing it when I'm still on the other side Grin

ohanotherone · 01/08/2011 10:59

Hi everyone, due date in two days time, some friends just turned up saw the Moses basket through the window and thought I'd had her overnight Grin. Still no signs though.

neverlookback · 01/08/2011 13:30

has anyone any experience of delivering with group strep B, did you have to be on a drip throughout or just for 10min every 4 hours?
ive just had results back that i have got it so i will have to have IV antibiotics whilst in labour for at least 4 hours before, and if they dont get enough in me before i deliver (this is my 3rd) then the baby may have to be canula'd and given 24-48 hrs worth of anti biotics, im gutted, i did the test to put my mind at rest didnt think id come back posative,
so it rules out water birth and poss even being able to be in the bath, both of which are what have got me through my last two labours. But least i know and they will observe baby much more incase the baby starts to react.
Im going to go to doctors tomorrow and see if they will also do a test!

WinterLover · 01/08/2011 13:54

Hello ladies - I know im technically 'off' this thread now but I need your help!

I believe this was covered a while ago - Ive got a 1st degree tear, the stitch has disolved now but there seems to be a whole Hmm im guessing its still healing as it hurts like hell at times. Now I do remember tricks and tips on helping tears to heal.... so any ideas?

MrsVidic · 01/08/2011 14:13

Never- I too have fast labours and gsb. I have been told I can have a water birth, hth.

neverlookback · 01/08/2011 15:15

thanks mrsV will you be having the iv antibiotics? i tihnk its because they leave the cannula in so they can give you more doses and its not supposed to get wet? i think im getting all worried and i dont need to, but my hormones are starting to get the better of me in the last few days!
im v emotional about everything.!!
winter dissolve a couple of tablespoons of salt in a bath and sit in for 10 min, whitch hazel is supposed to be good too. let it get air as much as poss, which is quite hard after having a baby!!!!

MrsVidic · 01/08/2011 15:37

They said it would be fine as long as I kept my hand out of the pool. Yeah having the anti biotics Smile

KTisPG · 01/08/2011 16:39

Had a good appointment with the consultant midwife today and she is fully supportive of me having a homebirth (Horrah) so all systems go now. Head is 4/5 engaged which is odd as I thought it was only normally first babies that engage early Hmm.

Need to have a growth scan on Friday as measurements seem to indicate that baby's growth has slowed. I'm sure this is down to the inaccuracies of the measurements though so not worrried.

Baby is posterior at the moment so need to encourage it to turn before the birth. Just ordered a new bigger birthing ball so hoping that will help.

Winter you can get valley cushions too to sit on for painful stitches (no real tips on quick healing, sorry).

LadyGoneGaga · 01/08/2011 16:46

Winter I have a second degree tear and they told me to soak in the bath twice a day (I dissolve 10 drops of lavender oil in a little milk to help disperse and add that too). And then let air dry and air get to it as much as poss. And change pads regularly. Mine are still agony too. The muscle stitches are healing well but the skin ones have come undone Sad. Not sure whether it will come together on its own or not. The midwife is coming back out on weds so will ask then.

KLou111 · 01/08/2011 16:53

Hi all. Well, growth scan went very well. Bubs' head that far down though, they couldn't get it to move to measure it, so just checked the fluid, heart, and belly size. Am measuring slightly above average and they reckon bubs will be around 8lbs, how accurate it is, we'll have to see.
The pain they reckon was the head moving down.

Seriously had enough now and this tenant needs evicting!! Got DH to 'bang me hard from behind' this morning (sorry if TMI) LMAO, and nada so far. He's gone out shooting with a friend this afternoon, he was a bit Hmm about going just in case, so I made him go, just in case lol!!! I said if it's gonna happen, it's bound to happen when you're not here, so GO and it'll happen, still........nada :(

Last night I asked DH to cut baby out of me. Couldnt get to sleep. Due today and had 40 week appt with GP. My regular GP is on holiday and the younger one is very quick. Like too quick. didnt really check anything but said just be patient and (I am starting to hate this) enjoy the next few days. F off! I cant enjoy them because I am a heffalump.

Have slept all day. No sign of baba. Trying not to be a Momtobezilla!

Rehune · 01/08/2011 16:58

KLou Have sent DH out for a strawberry milkshake. It's so hot. I was planning on getting him to donate some baby inducing sperm when he gets home. He made this, now he has to get it out.

MIL came round yday and was actually lovely. I feel like a reptile for trashing her here. But then again....sorry am being terrible and moany but fed up!

MrsVidic · 01/08/2011 17:10

Do it over the birthing ball- that's what worked 4 me last time! I am going to try again tonight too! Been getting painful bh's today so hopefully something may happen soon.

KLou111 · 01/08/2011 17:15

This waiting is so shit isn't it???
I've been told to look out for 'period pains' but TBH, I've never had them, so don't know what I'm meant to be looking out for!! All I can think of is it like when you really really need a poo and your get a crampy feeling???
