congrats star wow that is quick!! glad to hear it went well

yukana totally makes sense wanting it to be an occasion for you and your dp, hopefully he does get to be there somehow

MrsStevo · 30/07/2011 17:51

Just popping in super-quickly as I've dashed home for an hour!

HUGE congratulations to winter, Hersetta, astar and ladygonegaga - fantastic news that your little ones have arrived safe and sound! Hope you are enjoying motherhood - I am finding it totally exhausting but the most wonderful experience of my life.

We are still in hospital but the girls are doing fabulously. They are piling on the weight (altho not quite back to birth weight yet) and are both starting to get the hang of breastfeeding. We're not allowed home until they have gained more weight and have thoroughly got the hang of feeding as, at the moment, they are still reliant on their feeding /NG tubes for most feeds. It is very difficult to breastfeed babies that are asleep though so not sure how long we're going to be in!!!

They are just the most gorgeous little girls in the world. I couldn't be more besotted with them. I feel incredibly blessed to have healthy little girls after all we've been through. I think being in special care - where there are lots of VERY poorly babies - has made me even more appreciative of how lucky we really are.

Oooh - I've uploaded some pics of my girlywoos for you to see.

GOOD LUCK to the rest of you - hope all your births go super-well. I will be checking in now and again whenever I pop home / come home with the girls. x x x

One word mrss GORGEOUS! So so so pleased for you all and glad the girls are doing do well. Wrong wording but I feel very proud if you of what you have all give through throughout your pregnancy. It's been tough for you but you have 2 little beauties there and you should be very proud of yourself and of your little girls. Massive hugs to all your family. X x x x

MrsStevo they are beautiful. Love the photo of them having a snuggle together. They will 'wake up' in time.... but I know what you mean about trying to feed a baby that just sleeps, impossible! A friend of mine had twins born at 35 weeks (they are now 20 months old) and they were in for about 3 weeks.

Congratulations astar, what a quick labour and a gorgeous name.

Great to hear that all is well Hersetta. I'd forgotten about the cannula... yes, that was worse than the local anaesthetic before the spinal but it all fades into insignificance once baby arrives doesn't it?

Yukana, probably worth ringing I would say, better to be safe and don't worry that you are bothering them, it's their job. Also, your DP really shouldn't lose his job for taking one day off for the birth of his baby surely?! That would be grounds for unfair dismissal I would have thought! Such a shame if he misses it, I hope you manage to convince him to ask.

Leilandri · 30/07/2011 20:25

Congrats aStar beautiful name. Glad everything went so well for you.

Beautiful piccies MrsS congrats again, good to know that everything is going well after all you've all been through xx

jspark123 · 30/07/2011 21:07

Congrats to all those new arrivals, we have quite a few now! Lovely pics MrsS.

I am now 39 weeks, drinking the Raspberry leaf tea in the vain hope it might kick start something Hmm
Feet are really fat now, and LO feels lower at times, struggled when I went for a walk yesterday, every step he was pressing on my bladder! Thankfully I am not doing the whole waking in the night for a wee ritual.

Rehune did you have any embarrassments then Smile

Selina sorry you are feeling fed up, just think that by the time August is through and we are all still popping, you will have become well accustomed to your little one and giving us lots of encouragement!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone x

Rehune · 30/07/2011 21:25

Hey Star Congratulations! and Beautiful pics MrsS just gorgeous.

jspark Not. A. Thing. I have just got back home. Even went to the cinema. Nada. White dress FAIL.

MrsVidic · 30/07/2011 21:59

MrsS your girls are beautiful!

Does anyone else feel like giving up? I mean I have been obsessed with trying to get the baby out by due date (doing all the old wives tales) and now I sort have given up. I'm finding it hard to imageon her here- feels like she'll never come! Sad

majormoo · 31/07/2011 08:18

Congrats astar. Lovely name.
never, firwala it is chaotic having three but I have to say ds2 just fitted it and because by number three you are so used to newborns,I found that stage pretty easy. does go by very rapidly though.not sure now he is two and a half how pleased he will be at losing his baby of the family status but we will find out soon!

ohanotherone · 31/07/2011 08:38

Well I feel less like I'm going into Labour than 2 weeks ago, what's that about???? Probably because my DH took this week off not next week. Roll on next wednesday, the big D-Day!!!!

ohanotherone · 31/07/2011 08:39

Congratulations Astar 1.5 hours sounds wonderful! Grin

KLou111 · 31/07/2011 10:08

God I am so bored of this now! 38+4 but getting impatient beyond belief! Everyone keeps saying enjoy it, as your life will never be the same again blah blah but I've been getting used to it for 38 fecking weeks!!! Currently jumping on Dh every morning, raspberry leaf tablets being taken, etc but nothing yet. Bottom of belly still hurting since yesterday so not happy about that and mw never rang with growth scan appt and off for the weekend argh!

konatsu · 31/07/2011 10:21

Congratulations Astar and welcome to Claudia! 1.5 hour? fantastic! Smile

I?ll probably go for ELCS if nothing happens before the due date? I hate needles but at the same time I want to be present at the birth of my son and my DH too so epidural/spinal will be the only choice.

I?m enjoying the last few days of my bump. Today Sunday lunch on the river with few friends and tomorrow, I?ll start the countdown?.
Have a lovely Sunday!

Firawla · 31/07/2011 10:35

awwww mrsS beautiful pics i love the one of them snuggling together, how beautiful

aStarInStrangeways · 31/07/2011 10:56

Lovely pics MrsS :)

Thanks for all the congratulations. I was reading my notes last night and they've recorded my labour as 55 minutes Shock which is even more impressive. Anyway, we're home now and she's definitely got the hang of breastfeeding Grin

Yukana do call if you haven't already - any concerns at this stage should be taken seriously.

KLou111 · 31/07/2011 14:17

Well just text my mum about this pain and she rang me straight away and said you're not in labour are you? Friggin shit the hell out of me!!!! Told her it was in constant pain and hurt everytime I move rather than intermittantly. Anyway, told her what I'd been doing and she said keep an eye on things as it may be the baby's head moving into position eeeek! But she said make sure they get me in for scan ASAP, she said it was daft that I hadn't been contacted yet. Friend here doing some work for us just said cross your legs til I've gone lol! :)

OP posts:
Firawla · 31/07/2011 14:58

wow 55 mins!! did you just have to have the gel and that got things going enough then or was that with the drip?

aStarInStrangeways · 31/07/2011 15:06

No, I had two lots of gel that gave me mild, irregular cramps all night; then they broke my waters which did nothing; then they put me on the drip and hey presto, 5cm in 5 minutes.

It was fucking crazy, but so much more positive than DS's birth.

Firawla · 31/07/2011 15:51

oh i see, 5cm in 5min is really crazy!!! but it sounds like it was not too bad though, i hope mine will be quite quick like yours, i am hoping for it just to need the gel so it can be more like a normal labour incase that hurts less, but we will see...
how was it with the diabetes did they have to monitor your dd or anything or are you home now?

aStarInStrangeways · 31/07/2011 17:47

They did the two blood sugar measurements on her and they were both fine, so no concerns there. With me, they didn't measure my bs in labour at all, altho probably didn't have time Grin but because my sugars were quite well controlled anyway, they did say beforehand that they probably wouldn't need to do that.

So we're both home now :) Hopefully yours will be a bit less mental than mine, but still quick. How have your sugars been?

Firawla · 31/07/2011 18:01

now that im on insulin @ night my sugars have been fine, but without it the fasting ones were really high. i was told will have to check blood sugar hourly during labour, but mayb as urs was under 1 hour is why they didnt even have a chance to check!
thats really good your dd's was all fine though, i hope thats the same for me. dont really want to have to be kept in for ages

LadyGoneGaga · 31/07/2011 19:00

Hi Firawla. They didn't check my sugars in labour either. But I was diet controlled. They may be more strict if on insulin. Seemed like the midwives were quite keen to ignore the consultants Grin.

Congratulations, Astar. Glad it all went well. I thought mine was fast at 3h45!

bettyboo83 · 31/07/2011 19:50

Congratulations everyone! Gorgeous pics MrsS! Nothing happening here, absoloutely nada Hmm Time to get bouncing on the gym ball, and DP... Wink

MrsVidic · 31/07/2011 19:54
