Hello mmmm nice new thread. Dh away on business so on my own but he has taken pans out for me so will be able to cook as still can't lift.
Been a bit naughty and have been looking at some baby things. Thinking of reading to Christopher so he will recognise the sound of our voices and rhyme of the book. dh does super voices for Winnie the pooh.

Has anyone thought about who they want at the birth and in the days afterwards? I don't like hospitals and know I won't be at my best so don't want visitors then.

Folicacid · 29/06/2011 11:47

Good day here today, had a fab time at yoga last night, didn't push self at all, although I see the post I had written afterwards didn't make it on here, damn phone. I can't remember what I was posting about...

Anyway, funny thing was a new woman started at yoga and I started to wonder if she was Ziggi, I didn't think it could be Pam as she said she had had a completely trouble free pregnancy with no health issues. I'll be looking for you two round every corner... Wink

Pam I think I'd be up for meeting up, in that I know I'll be initially terrified that we'll all hate each other or we'll have nothing to say in RL but know deep down it will be fine and be nice to meet new people due at same time. I can tell I'm going to be worrier about making 'mummy friends' ( bleurgh even hate that phrase).

Monitor wise, Im was going to go for the BT 150 just cause it's on special on amazon and it's got good reviews.

PamSco · 29/06/2011 12:13

Lol Folic not me - I'm starting a term at Nadine's yoga next monday, missed this Mon due to amnio.

cookie that's a lovely idea I was going to start an indoctrination programme playing Dolly Parton and saying "good baby" in a soothing manner then playing his music well the Radiohead and saying "yackamacka yukky". Not that we are competitive lol.

MRI scan went ok, though Babs didn't like it, lots of kicking, hope it was just the noise it didn't like.

chipmonkey · 29/06/2011 12:34

We always introduce the baby with his name as a fait accompli. I remember when SIL and I were both pg, MIL saying with a sickly smile "If either of you has a little girl, please call her MILname!"
Now she already has a dd called after herself and a dgd partly called after herself ( half of a double-barrell name) so you would think she would be happy with that, wouldn't you? And FIL wanted every one of our sons to be called after him! I dug my heels in!

Caliphora · 29/06/2011 12:45

cookie My mum is coming over 4 days before I'm due, and staying two weeks. Other than that I'm limiting visitors (which will be low anyway as we don't gave any family or close friends around here) to half hour stints in the afternoon for the first two weeks.

As for trouble with pil - I thought I'd go scot free, but nope. FiL is being a grumpy old man and refusing to plan Christmas with us, even if we've offered to drive the 300 miles with a two month old baby. He's adamant that he can't take holiday for 24th-26th, and I'm more than a bit annoyed that he's being so resistant. He's also umming and aahing whether he wants to come after the birth, and I had DP in tears the other night because he's so uncooperative. Sprout is his first grand child, you'd think he'd be more excited, considering.

Anyone else having the full waterworks? I can't stop bawling every 5 minutes. Poor Sprout is getting a proper bounce around with my sobbing all the time!

PMA: tomorrow is IKEA sale day, DP and I have the day off together, and it's payday! Yay!

chipmonkey · 29/06/2011 13:09

Cali, I am crying over nothing all the time. I know I have probably arrived in work with suspiciously red eyes after listening to something on the radio, which doesn't even have to be anything sad!

Folicacid · 29/06/2011 13:14

Oooh yes IKEA asle. They are selling a HENSVIK cot down to £56.99 if anyone is looking, I saw it in a family preview sale.

Pam I've had Nadine and Lee, Nadine is very meditative so depends what you like. Sometimes I struggle with mediatation, all the more reason to persevere I know I know. It's about more than the yoga anyways. We should have a secret signal so when we meet fellow mumsnet Nov 2011ers we can verify... Baggsy not showing you my nipple though- too sore still. Grin

Cali I'm crying much less. Weird but true. I'm normally a total softie but have been feeling really hard hearted recently about things on telly and whatnot that I'd normally be crying over.

H007 · 29/06/2011 14:12

I find myself struggleling not to cry at random stuff... I couldn't even give you a category of what makes me cry it could be anything from watching One Born Every Minute to Bananas in the supermarket.

Caliphora · 29/06/2011 14:25

Sometimes I just get this sense of sadness, I don't know why, but it feels like I'm missing someone or something.
Hormones, for sure.

My mum messaged me to tell me she's found my dads christening gown, and given it to my grandmother to repair for Sprout.
That really set me off!

kate393 · 29/06/2011 15:29

Hi all,
Not much to report, just thought i'd get on new thread!
Poppy, nightmare re MIL, think you do right though taking time to choose. We havent decided on a name yet but when we do I wont be telling anyone. Think people feel the need to air their opinions when youre pregnant but if babys here and youre like 'he/she's called x' then its done and maybe people are more likely to keep any negative comments to themselves.
Made mistake of re-looking at my last scan measurement graphs last night when watching tv and noticed femur length was below average, although still within the 'ok' limits (MW had said all was totally fine at scan etc)...made HUGE mistake of googling it and scared myself to death!!!! Sad Bloody idiot!!!

neverinamillionyears · 29/06/2011 16:42

Hey all. Hope everyone is enjoying these drier days and the bit of sunshine that peeks through now and again. Well thats how it is in the south.

My family have been great it's been a while since a grandchild and although my parents were happy they weren't exactly gushing when I told them the news all those weeks ago. My Mum I think has had time to mull it over and realises now that I'm her only daughter and the youngest, she has started to gush a bit. She is away and has emailed me quite a bit. At the age of 66 that's quite a feat for her (not technical at all).

Mil is lovely although I've realised not to bother talking to her about birth and BF etc etc. She said that its very rare that women have a problem in bf. I said well I'm not going to get all upset if I can't. I know how to quieten people quickly. It's kinda my job to lay the law down. lol.

Brother has just visited and wants to buy the cotbed, he found a beautiful sleigh one but it's just too big for a box room. Nevermind I'm sure he'll come up with something, he first looked in Harrods. Mmmm not exactly a great range...........I told him Mothercare would be better. OH sister is trying for a baby and it hasn't happened yet, so she isn't that interested in us at the minute. It's a shame, I do hope she falls soon. Well that's my family, sorry loooong boring post.

I'm only 18+5 so way behind a lot of you, not felt anything yet so it's lovely to hear all your movements (Mmm sounds disgusting). Have scan next week at 19+5 and hope to find out colour. OH has a DD already so little blue would be great but I don't mind. Think when they measure they will get a shock, OH is 6'4 and I'm 5'7 not a hope in hell it'll be small. As I've always said though as long as it has a head the size of a ping pong ball that inflates after birth I'll be happy Shock

neverinamillionyears · 29/06/2011 16:56

Any scan reports yet?

cookie9 · 29/06/2011 17:42

Quite excited can actuall see belly move when baby kicking me!

Pamsco had to laugh at the dolly Parton v radiohead story

Dawnywoo · 29/06/2011 17:52

Hello lovely ladies

Can I join please? Been lurking a bit but now feeling brave as I had my 20 week scan today and all is well. I'm team yellow by the way.

Sorry to hear some of you having an emotional time. Big hugs. I'm doing ok overall. Trying to sell my business before baba comes and also moving house in August so lots going on.

Lovely shiny new Midwife led wing opened at my chosen hospital last week and i'm hoping to have a water birth there. Yay!

PMA - Very much looking forward to getting to know you all and hoping that the 'second half' goes well for all of us!

cep · 29/06/2011 17:56

Evening ladies. I have forgotten everything i've just read. bloomin heck.

i'm finding myself welling up over things i see on telly at the moment, not loads but what i do react to are silly things.

chip had to lol at the idea of a boys all with the same name.

poppy sorry your mum has been funny with you.

cali sorry your fil is being an arse, i'd just make plans without them if you can, then tell them they're too late if they ever make their mind up.

We told people ds's name after he was born, before then we always just said we like these names and mentioned a few, so noone knew until after.

We had visitors at the hospital cause i was there for a few days, hoping to get help with bfing, but didn't happen. When we finally got hold of my parents to let them know. (we actually managed to get hold of my mil in greece before my parents. ) they travelled up later that day and everyone who visited only stayed for a little while. Then my mum came and stayed with us for a few days afterwards. I think this time my mum is coming up a few days before edd, to help with ds when i go into labour, and she'll probably stay for a few days afterwards.

chip (i think) i hadn't thought of seeing a specialist before hand, i've been working on them for the last couple of years and they seem to stay out for longer than they did now, there's also a litle a latch assist thing that an suck them out if i still have problems. I also picked up a little card with several numbers to call if you're having problems. I'm determined to keep at it this time.

never glad your mum is getting excited now.

cookie i had tha in the bath the other night is so cool, i balanced a book on my belly last night and was so funny to watch it wobble. (the book not the belly.)

sorry if i've missed anyone, hope you're all ok.

sunshinehugs · 29/06/2011 19:30

Hey everyone! Marking my spot on the new thread! Congrats alicat, welcome dawn. Felt my first kick today (I think!?) at 18+3 very excited, and my 20 week scan is coming up on 12th July. Feel like I am quite far behind most of you but love hearing what is coming up x

My sister just announced she is pregnant with her second child! Due 14th Feb so we will have little ones so close in age! Shame she lives in Swansea and I'm in Lincolnshire :(. Sorry to hear you OH's sister is having trouble concieving never, I have a good friend who has been trying for 5 years and her first IVF attempt failed last month, really difficult.

Hope you are all having a good evening!

juststarting · 29/06/2011 19:54
