hello all

congrats pam great news

cali you just made me cry

drama filled night here ....i woke up at 1am night before last with crippling stomach pains every 20 mins or so. Thought it was something i'd eaten so tried to sleep some. By 11am werent going away so called mw who said go to drs. Booked on call appt for 3 (they were supposed to call me) they didnt Shock, phoned local hospital in a tizz and they were brilliant (not least as ive only been in the area 6 days and am completely unregistered) ....much prodding, poking, testing and scanning later we discovered baby is fine, mommy has a UTI but nothing antibiotics, painkillers and rest wont fix ....

tbh, given the last few weeks am not entirely surprised my body has rebelled ....but am SO relieved its me and not LO. DH has said 'bed, sofa and maybe pottering in garden for whole weekend' Grin

Missyraines · 01/07/2011 10:29

Hello all, thought I'd post in our new thread so it's eaier for me to find! I've been lurking so am up to speed on most things. We have our 20 week scan on Tuesday and won't be finding which camp we're in.
I think I've felt junior move. Like little electric shocks. I've been a bad Mummy and bought a fetal doppler from ebay. Heard HB really clearly. Trying not to over use it. Used it 4 time and I only got it on Sat! Just peace of mind really as I do worry.

Sorry to hear of the dramas ali and LK Look after yourselves.

Caliphora · 01/07/2011 12:58

alicat10 I cried when we couldn't decide whether to go to Tesco or not last night.

It just made me question if we could be good parents and responsible adults, you know...

Hope the car dealer gets a boot for selling you a rubbish car!

alicat10 · 01/07/2011 13:08

Crisis over. Turns out little fingers had put an interior light right at the back so not only did the lovely AA man get us started but found the problem so we don't have to trek across town - hurrah

LK sorry you've had a scare - try and focus on R&R this weekend, I don't think I'd still be standing if I'd done everything you have over the last couple of weeks!

alicat10 · 01/07/2011 13:14

Cali thank you, you made me smile and realise that I haven't completely lost the plot!

jamama · 01/07/2011 13:14

hello ladies - in my tradition of alternating infrequent flippant vs. misery-soaked posts, today am being a bit of a misery.
Have been having a bit of ligament pain inside left hip for the last couple of weeks, mainly put it down to bad sleeping positions, but this week it has migrated towards the groin. Thoughts of ending up on crutches abounding, off I went to bumps & babies class last night, there was strongly advised to see a chiropractor (although I'm not sure I hold with semi-med people as confirmed skeptic). To cut long story short, somehow ended up sobbing in GP's office this morning and have been referred to antenatal physio; promptly came into work, continuing to sob en route and into office. A series of kindly emails from BFF has only led to more sobbing and total inability to do anything with my 'urgent' list except make it soggy. Just feeling like I am making a very bad job of this pregnancy lark, and unsure how I will go on for another four and a half months.
Do I just write today off as a bad one and go home, or attempt to soldier on?
In meantime, welcome to newer ladies and glad to hear lots of good scan news (in my other news, last week's scan was fine, all structures correct and baby measuring small by their dates, i.e. fine by what I believe to be the correct dates; chose not to find out sex).

jamama · 01/07/2011 13:16

sorry also missed LK's news in haste to be a miserable awld cow, hope that the drugs kick in soon and that you're able to rest up for next few days.

alicat10 · 01/07/2011 13:16

Hee hee just realised I only have 21.5 days left at work! Grin

Folicacid · 01/07/2011 13:53

just posting quickly to say jamama go home- without a doubt. You're not doing any work nor yourself any good. Murray vs Nadal at 4, what more reason do you need? Wink

Staceroo · 01/07/2011 14:04

Wow ali jealous of 21.5 days... goes to work out how long she has left 18 Weeks for me!!! (less one weeks holiday in between!) sorry it's been a crappy day, but glad your getting home OK.

Oh and I like the jungle one with the elephant best!

IK milk enjoy your prescribed time of rest and recouperation!

Poppy I may be wrong, (and probably am) and i'm sure you've checked this out, but is it ok to fly at 29 weeks? O thought the airlines won't let you after 28? Though the holiday does sound fantastic! We have the first week in sept off as our anniversary, but thought we'd be too late to fly by then!?

Pam hip hip hooray for the results! Must be a weight off your mind!

H007 will await good news on mortgage etc... and possibly think we should consider imposing a ban on your mumsnetting until that coursework is done! I'm sure we're a distraction!

Kate i get a wierd feeling that I've put down to the baby moving, whcih i guess could be discribed as vibrating - ish???

I've struggled the last few days with a real pain in my right rib, whcih at first DH said sounded like I'd bruised my rib, but definitely haven't bashed it at all. I was wondering if it could be baby pushing up on my ribs as it comes and goes. What do you think? Anyone had similar feeling or know what it feels like when baby is pushing on ribs??

PMA! Friday!!! And get to dress up posh for a day at the Polo tomorrow with the girls! woo!

cookie9 · 01/07/2011 14:08

Hugs jamama. Go home and rest. I have been hopeless at pregnancy. Thought I would have lots of energy and be working hard and cooking lots of home cooked meals in the evenings once in second trimester. Reality is signed off work, taking codeine and apart from mum's cooking in the freezer it's sandwiches etc. No use beating yourself up over things. You and baby need some rest.

cep · 01/07/2011 15:39

afternoon ladies. hope you're all ok.

Jamama definately go home and rest.

h007 sorry house a college are being so difficult at the moment, hopefully it'll all sort itself out quickly and in the best way.

alicat sorry about the car but glad you found out why.

I have 64 days left that's based on 16 weeks left minus the mondays i don't work. Although am thinking i might cancel a weeks leave i have in sept and add it to the leave i have before baby's due. Am i the only one only having 2 weeks off before baby due??

oh also had mad dash to midwife as hadn't felt baby move in 24 hours, so hb heard thankfully, and while there she gave me a reminder tour of the mw led unit so that saves me another visit.

Jamama this is one of my absolute best buys! It's like a bean bag so is great for supporting bump and your top knee when you're in bed to keep hips and pelvis in alignment to help with pain in that area. Also the best feeding cushion as you can mould it around you and make it diff heights to suit the size of your boobs!

On the chiro front my friend who SPD loved her sessions with her chiropractor (she went to one who specialised in ante and post natal work) anbd said they made a huge difference to her pain and mobility so might be worth a try if it worsens.

alicat10 · 01/07/2011 15:50

Steceroo do you write notes? - I just can't remember who's done what but you seem very good as keeping on tops of everyone's ups and downs!

cookie9 · 01/07/2011 17:16

Just bought first things for Christopher after temptation too much in mother care sale. Got the Santa suit so hopefully we can send out some Christmas cards with it and the snow suit.

Folicacid · 01/07/2011 17:18

Alicat I vote for jungle next set. Gorgeous.

alicat10 · 01/07/2011 18:14

jungle it is then - my try and sneak a shopping trip tomorrow - with DH out til who knows when he'll owe me one! Plus I need to try and find DD some more green clothes as she is insisting on only wearing her favourite colour and they are fights I don't really have the energy for.

I love shopping for my kids as much as I hate shopping for me!

also going to get DS's stuff out of the loft to see if there's anything we need more of... this'll be the 4th baby to wear some of this stuff as I I've been lending it around so some might be worse for wear. Despite DS being a spring baby we should be ok with seasons as he wasn't in newborn sizes for months!

Staceroo · 01/07/2011 18:35

ali I dont take notes, but I do have a cheat! My work laptop has this software where you can take a little picture of just a part of the screen in a second, so I do that and line them all up at the top of my screen!

cep glad panic is over and you got a sneak listen to the hb! Still haven't heard our baby's hb! Hopefully will at next mw appointment next saturday!

cookie can't wait to buy little snow suits! Gonna be so fun having a little baby in the middle of winter, getting it all wrapped up nice and cosy!

Just home from work and parked in front of the tennis! Dominoes on the way! Yay!

Folicacid · 01/07/2011 19:01

Watching the tennis then out to a party tonight. Can't be bothered tbh although know it will be good the thought of getting showered and ready and feeling like a frump just doesn't appeal.

Folicacid · 01/07/2011 19:06

Infact I do t even know if it is going to be good as don't know many people and will be sober. Hmmmm even less appealing.

Staceroo · 01/07/2011 20:49

Folic I'm thinking the same about tomorrow, but can only think it's a good thing to get dressed up and make yourself feel pretty for the night! And, we 100% have an excuse to leave early if were not enjoying ourselves! x

Poppet45 · 01/07/2011 21:00

Gaah today's just not a good day is it.

lk: So sorry to hear about your UTI, ouch! If it's any consolation, those tummy pains were probably contractions, as UTIs can bring on early ones, so you've just had a dress rehearsal for five months time!
Alicat: that sounds like such a mare. I hate it when trains are cancelled or buses evaporate and me and DS are left stranded. It's annoying as an adult but you get such a sense of dread when you have a confused small person wondering when they're going to get home for their tea!
Staceroo: the rib pain could be to do with them slowly being prised open by jnr? I remember that was pretty grim. Could be worse, a friend's wee one was breech and she still has one rib that sticks out far more than the other... the one that had a wee head wedged behind.

To complete our evening of misery, we're waiting on a call about DS from NHS24, he's had a gippy tummy all week, but as we've not had it and he's not been puking plus has generally been his happy self, AND he's cutting the evil four back teeth we've put it down to that. Put it's not getting better, I know from bitter memory it can take up to 10 days for the squits to stop when they're ickle, but every nappy is vile, we're running out of bland food ideas to give him yet it's doing no good anyway, and now his bum is so sore every poo is accompanied by full hysterical howls of misery. Last time he was ick like this I'd just up the boob feeds and cut out solids (an advantage over bottle, which tends to make small tums worse so you're actually told to cut out, the disadvantage being even if you do eat vast amounts of cake it's hard work) but I know I'm producing hardly anything at all, and just feel so helpless. Just want the poor wee sausage to feel better.

alicat10 · 01/07/2011 21:19

Oh Poppet what a nightmare - DS had 3 horrendous ones between 12 an 16 months (the third of which I got when pregnant with DD) and it was so hard - I found metanium and fresh air the best things for the sore bum but struggled to find stuff for him to eat - went right back to baby veg purees but only very little amounts - he didn't get especially hungry though

Poppet45 · 01/07/2011 21:30

Thanks. I think we'll scale back to veg purees tomorrow too. NHS24 called back told us to totally concentrate on fluids, i know this, I know this, but with my lame pregnancy brain today i was focussing far too much on food so feeling really guilty. He's drunk hardly anything, and it was a battle to get him to take even 20 mls of rehydration fluid tonight. He hates dioralyte but we'll just have to battle with a syringe tomorrow and otherwise just keep tempting him to drink. Hate, hate hate tummy bugs more than any other baby illness we've had to deal with ... so far Sad
