WuzzAndBuddy · 04/07/2011 19:58

Yeah Ziggi! Joining the blue team! Seems to be a popular choice at the moment!?
Sorry to hear you're missing out on sleep, there's nothing worse is there!? I'm awful without sleep, unless its a newborn waking me up and then I seem to turn into superwoman! Grin
Not sure if that'll be the case this time round though, not with DS waking up early aswell.
Completely agree with the maternity clothes disaster aswell, there's just nothing nice at all is there!?
I've got a couple of pairs of skinny jeans and a handful of vest tops and light summery tops that I'm living in, very basic stuff as I just can't find anything I like!

Cali, hope tonights shift isn't too stressful. Just think of it as 'another one down' xx

Moosey, I'm loving owls at the moment, I'm hoping to find some nice garden-y themed stuff so I can buy lots of owls aswell! I love this one and these
Love these wall stickers but they're a bit too girly for a boys room aren't they!? Grin

Folic, thats a really lovely colour! I think with white/light furniture it would look really lovely.

We used cellular blankets at first, til DS was the right weight for sleeping bags and then swapped to those til DS was about 18months.
Ours were from Mothercare, can't remember how much they were but they're still in great condition 4yrs later and we won't be buying anymore for this boy.

NeverInAMill, hope things are better tonight? You ok?

alicat10 · 04/07/2011 20:20

Just a quick one as on phone with legs in air to say - has anyone else swollen up? Legs and feet really bad (pitting odeama or whatever it's called is plasticine legs) and I've been sat down at work all day

Folicacid · 04/07/2011 20:28

Wuzz I absolutely love that tree and owls. Love.

sunshinehugs · 04/07/2011 20:34

Hey there, wuzz - love those owl wall stickers, they are a bit girly though what a shame! moosey the sea theme is amazing! I've booked marked it for DP when he finally gets back from his golfing holiday :) don't fancy getting the water line right though :(

NeverInAMill hope you are OK.

Regarding maternity wear, got some white linen trousers from New Look - they aren't maternity but have an elasticated top and are perfect. Also got this from Wallis which is gorgeous!

Have a great evening and hope everyone sleeps well x

sunshinehugs · 04/07/2011 20:51

Oh and Tesco are selling tommee tipee stuff half price including sterilisers and electric breast pumps! Unfortunately the breast pumps are out of stock but got myself a steriliser.

alicat sorry to hear about the swelling, hope its just a one off for you! I get heavy legs from sitting still at my desk and have to have a walk around, but no swelling..yet!

Katiebeau · 04/07/2011 20:57

alicat I swelled up like a hotair balloon last week and the week before due to 1) sitting in meeting all day and 2)flying and going somewhere stupidly hot for work! It took 3 nights for all the fluid to finally go. Also I did the most massive wee the last morning, my DD actually asked me to stop weeing it went on so long!

DH is away this week for 4 whole days!! It all started really well tonight.

DD was like a chimney sweep when I collected her from nursery today, she had thrown herself into the raised bed in the garden! Bath time was full of belly laughs, Penny first big bathtime fart! Then she said "It was you Mummy".Grin Then she had her first bathtime poo. A big wee in the bedroom too, 3 inches from the potty.

M&S speckled eggs are too yummy....

A huge welcome to the new ladies. Enjoy the chatter here.

neverinamil I hope you're OK

MooseyMoo · 04/07/2011 21:00

Folic I got my blankets from Mothercare too. It was on bogof and I got a fleece and cellular blanket. Looks like it is on special again. I got the moses/crib size.

Oooh Wuzz LOVE that owl tree. Sadly yes, bit too girly. I was looking at this one but decided the other stickers would take up more room on the wall.

Found this one but just realised it's a measuring height sticker - grrr.

Can you tell I have far too much time on my hands to surf internet Grin

Poppet45 · 04/07/2011 21:24

Argh.... just typed a huge message, then MN made me log in again and I lost it.
Humph, I'll just have to cobble together what I can remember.
Never sucky to hear about problems at home, hope they get resolved soon. Edinburgh lot I don't think dates are set in stone so twojacks whichever of those weekends isn't the Perth NCT thing just let us know.
Owls loving them!!!
Pamsco either of my boys could pitch a good fit after too long shopping in John Lewis but only one would waste time playing on stairs at any establishment that had a bar. Hmmm beer, wine, gin, whisky.... oh I miss a tipple, between being pregnant and breastfeeding I don't think I've been this teetotal since I was 14!
Folic we got cheap cellular blankets at an NCT sale, everyone buys them so there's always heaps to pick up for not much.
Bluetink and um condoms generally DH was a huge fan of these horrid things, as he's a very cautious neurotic type. I'll admit they save some mess but I can't bear the hiatus at key moments or the rubbery smell. DD is only 20 weeks away because we had to hide ours in a drawer to stop our truly deranged cat from chewing on the foil packets Shock and DS used to run around the room with them once he discovered their lovely bright shinyness too. Blush About as far from a Walton, wholesome image of childhood as you can get.

neverinamillionyears · 04/07/2011 21:37

Thanks guys. I'm ok, things haven't changed. He is out on the piss with work colleagues so am trying to get off to sleep soon.

Lovely ideas for rooms. I'm rubbish at anything creative so need all the ideas you have!

Ooooh Kate that swelling sounds awful.

knockedupagain · 04/07/2011 22:04

never I hope you manage to get things sorted one way or another. We're worrying about you!

folic I love the colour, but seem to be the only person who does think it's a little dark for a nursery. You could always paint one or two of the walls a lighter colour and leave the rest as it is. It would indeed be great for a nautical theme.

Edinburgh lot. How about we plump for Sunday July 31st? Am I right in thinking that this is a date we could all do? I'm easy as to when, but it does seem that weekends are easier for some, and the Saturday is out for twojacks. What time suits? Cake time seems mid afternoon to me, or perhaps for elevenses if that suits more folks. Or should be plump for lunch with cake for dessert as it's quite far for some? Again I'm easy - one advantage to my being single is not having to consider partner plans! And teenagers can safely be left to tantrum at home alone should they desire to!
As to where, obviously central will be easiest for those arriving by train. Suggestions?

Perhaps we should have a London meet up too? I happen to be there feeding my best friend's cat between August 3rd and 7th if everybody doesn't happen to be away on holiday then. What do people think?

Staceroo · 04/07/2011 22:31

Gonna try and make this breif...

Scan day today! And against all odds, and against everyones hunches in the family! We are TEAM PINK!!! Am so super excited! Bought a cute little set of babygrows etc from tescos on my lunch break with little butterflies on!

Baby was very well behaved apparently, moved exactly were she (can't get used to saying that!) was meant to! Everything where it should be and working as it should. no mention of measurements though, so presumed 'normal'.

Welcome lkane and oneslice, Welcome back knockedup and moosey had noticed you'd both been quiet!

Bump I love hungry catapillar, was my fav book as a kid! I've been thinking of reading to baby, but currently reading sense & sensibility, not realy appropriate for baby! Is anyone else reading, and if so, what are you reading?

Pam agree completely about the smoking, and so cali well done on quitting snoking, should be v proud of yourself!

Finally Blue re condoms, not a fan myself, but did see some JLS branded ones in boots the other day! Way to encourage teenage girls into buying them! Can't see the boys loving them though!

Caliphora · 04/07/2011 23:12

Shift over - much better today. When my boss asked me how I was, I said "Rubbish, but I'd rather get paid for sitting around feeling sick than not. I think he got the message.

I'm loving the wallstickers, peeps! I'm getting the Woodland friends one from Dotty Hippo, for sure!

goldmaple · 05/07/2011 00:57

Welcome to all the new Nov Mums-to-be! I have read everything but can't remember who said what etc... (I blame bubba:) )

Had a couple of worrying days when bubba (or bubbette now) decided not to move at all (been feeling her for weeks) but GP wasn't concerned and said I didn't have to monitor movements until 28 or 30 weeks... not reassurring since it was more like 'we can't do anything anyways' But then yesterday she was really wiggly adn along with random kicks i could also feel her roll over.

folic and knockedup I too love the color but find it dark for a nursery (unless it is a huge room) but love the idea of keeping one wall darker and lightening up the others, same color different shade (that way you could have furniture of any color).

staceroo yay team pink! I keep looking at little hair bow clips and hats in case bubba has little/no hair (but with my killer heart burn she should!!)

blue would love for you to have a BFPas soon as you are ready! Enjoy that wine/pate/cheese while you can!

Ali no swelling here but had insomnia for the first time last night:( I hope this isn't the start of being uncomfy again.

As for not going back on birth control cali (i think) have you ever tried the FAM method (I hate birth control too - its not great for us) and I've used FAM for a year before TTC and I know its not for everyone (esp if you have irregular periods) but 'Taking Control Of Your Fertility' explains it really well and I never had any false alarms or worrying when my period was late (because of temps etc...). I was shocked that I'd never heard of it before (I was 25) and its not to be confused with the unreliable 'timing-method'

Going on vacation in 3 weeks and I only go back to one of my jobs after. Torn because it will mean I work a lot less but a lot less money so...

Hope everyone feels great tomorrow!

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 05/07/2011 06:50

Morning all,

edinburgh folks, July 31st would be fine for me, I'll fit in with whatever everyone else wants to do, we'll come down on the train, but I used to do a lot of work in Edinburgh so should be able to find wherever we decide to meet :)

Good scan news, always welcome, glad you are getting on better at work Cali, will be the weekend soon :) On the subject of birth control am thinking about the coil, as would hope that in about three years we could start trying for another one and the depo injection took ages to work it's way out of my system :( Am working on DH as regards getting the snip after that, although he's not so keen, can't think why?!!?

Am off to Duxford Air Show with DH this weekend, so avidly watching the weather now, fingers crossed it doesnt rain this weekend, boiling hot is rubbish too but rain just makes him grumpy as his photos dont come out the way they should! Not sure how the bump is going to enjoy the noise, could be interesting!!

Have a good day all :)

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 05/07/2011 06:54

btw, I bookmarked this site at the beginning and go back every couple of weeks to see what is going on inside, it's quite fascinating :)

www.msichicago.org/whats-here/exhibits/you/the-exhibit/your-beginning/make-room-for-baby/interactive/

Ziggimajiggi · 05/07/2011 08:04

Folic I really like that colour...but it's your house and your baby. If you think it might be too dark then maybe it is for you?

Thanks Wuzz, I always thought it was a boy :) Got a bit more sleep last night. Hopefully I'll be in sleep credit some day soon!

Edinburgh Merry Up 31st is perfect for me...shall we do elevenses?

Anyway, PMA for today is yoga tonight and then a big old sleep I hope! Just praying I don't actually fall asleep in the relaxation bit!

Hope y'all have a good day
xx
Ziggi

Caliphora · 05/07/2011 08:18

goldmaple I've got pcos, and have maybe 3 periods/year totally at random. I've tried charting etc and it was all useless - it's hard taking control over your fertility when there's nothing to take control over! ;)

I might just bear up with condoms for as long as possible and then start trying again when we get bored. As I said, Sprout took about a year of wilful trying, but 6 years of no protection.
I'm sure no 2 won't be easier.

Missyraines · 05/07/2011 08:24

staceroo congrats on team pink Were you always going to find out the team? We have ours at 1400 today and deffinatly do not want to find out.
Quick question, I asked my Mum to come today to get her more involved (since Dad is no longer with us) will she be allowed in the room? I know they don't like it too crowded.

As for nursery ideas I'm in a dilema for cots. I don't know if I love this www.mothercare.com/Stokke-Sleepi-Package-Natural/dp/B002HHHEXU?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_17&nodeId=44362031&sr=1-17&qid=1309850405&pf_rd_r=1FT87HP84ZMV7N435CRA&pf_rd_m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=44362031&pf_rd_p=231490867&pf_rd_s=related-tab-3-5
or not. I love the fact we can wheel it from our room to the nursery in the early days and it expands as the child grows. I like the fact it starts small so they won't feel lost.
Half of me likes the fact it's different and half of me thinks I should stick to a tradional rectangle cot. Oh and I also get 10% discount at Mothercare through work so that makes it slightly more attractive.
As for themes I like an animal theme as that's so wide and unisex.

cookie9 · 05/07/2011 08:29

Missyraines it should be fine as I had mum and mil at ours. They may be asked to be quiet during the scan but should be allowed in. I think they have more of an issue if young children in the room. Good luck

PamSco · 05/07/2011 08:37

31st and elevenses is good for me. I have hypnobirthing in the afternoon @ 2pm so will need to shoot off.

I went to yoga last night so much more chattier, there was a visit from a previous yogee - gorgeous wee girl. Just gorgeous.

PamSco · 05/07/2011 08:52

If anyone is in the Edinburgh area this weekend. Sorry for spamming to those elsewhere.

I've added an even to the local board for the festival www.edinburghraftrace.com/festival.html

But I thought I'd point out that the Pregnancy and Parents Centre will be having an open day with a Nearly New Sale - it's just by the canal.

Cheers,
Pam

Poppet45 · 05/07/2011 09:15

edinburgh lot elevensies on the 31st works for me. I can escape for some freedom while DH has DS then puts him down for a nap. Yippee!
Goldmaple thanks for reassuring me. Bunny is going through a quiet phase the last day or so (I think some kicks but only little ones) and I'm trying not to fret after her recent much more bouncy activity. PMA, PMA, PMA.
Pamsco oooooh I think me and the boys might take a trip to that festival. I have a hair appt in the morning but we could try and make it after DS's nap. I need some teeny tiny babygrows in something other than blue.
Actually can anyone help me find DD's first outfit. I really want just a plain bright yellow babygrow - no chicks, flowers, butterflies, no pastels, just nice bright cheerful yellow, but am having a mare finding one. Anyone have any ideas?

Folicacid · 05/07/2011 10:28

Elevenses suits me as I'm normally up and about early these days due to not being tipsy the night before. what bout jacks coming from Perth though?

Caliphora · 05/07/2011 10:34

I knew having an easy first trimester meant more trouble towards the end!

Woke up from a fretting, hot night of minimum sleep with excruciating pain in tummy, feels like a UTI - have doctor's appointment in half an hour. Have a slight fever too, but probably won't register with the drs as I've got a basal temp of 36.3. 37.0 is a fever for me, but not for the GP.
Sprout is kicking about though, so not too worried yet.

Folicacid · 05/07/2011 10:38

Sorry clicked too soon. missy I think that stoke is really expensive but if you can afford it and think you would get use out of it all the way to using them as chairs then could work out. A big plus would be not having to buy a separate crib or Moses basket for beside your bed. Does seem eyewateringly dear to me though but if you fancy it get it!
