Afternoon all,

cali hope drs goes ok and they are somewhat useful! I'm sure they'll take you fever seriously if you keep on at them!

missy good luck with scan. As for us we definitely wanted to know the sex, way to impatient. And now we know, it suddenly feels so much more real, saying she and talking about our little girl!

Speaking of sex... Contraception... I think I'm gonna have to jump straight on the pill as my dh seems to have super sperm! I stopped my pill and didn't even have a regular period, fell pregnant at first possible opprtunity, so wouldn't like to play the risk game!

gold and poppet my baby girl has quiet days too, mostly at the weekend! (Go figure!) Also noticed at my scan yesterday that she was wriggling around, jumping and kicking and I couldn't feel anything, so obviously they're not big enough for us to feel every movement yet! So probably no reason to worry just yet, I figure when she's quiet, is when she's further towards the back or something?

2jacks enjoy the airshow! I think we might be going to the welsh national airshow in swansea at the weekend!

Got referred to the hosp, so now sat like a good girl in a hospital bed waiting to see the consultant. Am I the only one whose symptoms disappear as soon as I get to hospital? Always been like it, even when I had a cyst the size of a golf ball on my ovary. Writhing in pain at home, embarrassingly unable to perform for the doctors and nurses here.
Let's see what happens. At least my BP is 117 over 67. Pulse is 106 though - stressed out chilling?

I bet I'll go into labour and the contractions will magically go away when we hit labour ward.

Folicacid · 05/07/2011 14:33

Yikes cali hope hospital gies okay and you are seen very soon. Good that pains have gone even if it is embarrassing! Keep us posted. X

Katiebeau · 05/07/2011 14:39

I hope you're OK Cali and have been seen by now. I know what you mean re temperature. Mine is rarely above 36 (no thyroid issues), neither is DDs. If she hits 37 she is very fretful.

Same if you have low BP MWs just use the same "limit" re high blood pressure as for the average, they don't actually look at a numerical increase usually (which they should).

PamSco · 05/07/2011 16:38

Katie agree re BP I was told my BP was normal at 145/90 but I pulled out my home measurement graph (don't all shout saddo at once!) and my running average is 110/65 - normal my erse.

Cali hope they don't keep you too long and hope it has settled.

Stace I was amazed at the amount of belters I was taking on teh scan and I couldn't feel them - which makes me wonder if he has power tools smuggled in there for when I do feel him!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 05/07/2011 16:47

Very quick pop in to say hello! Back from hols and suffering badly from jetlag - still up at 1am eating a lettuce sandwich so now knackered.

Been trying to keep up with thread but will try to post more later, depending on my ability to stay awake.

20 week scan tomorrow morning, very nervous/excited. Had days when i feel no movement and then days when I am kicked alot. Taking DD to the scan with us, so she can see the baby for real (fingers crossed). Want to find out the colour too.

Goldmaple I LOVE TCOYF. It took us over a year to conceive DD but only 6m with this one cos we were using the charting method. I will go back to using it once baby settles into sleep routine and I can rely on waking temps.
It blows my mind that I got to 38 years and really knew nothing about my cycles/ovulation etc. This stuff should be taught at school so girls become aware of what their bodies do naturally. I intend to tell DD about it when she's old enough (not for a good while as she's not even 3 :) )

Cali hope all OK.

CazandBelle · 05/07/2011 17:03

cali hope all is ok

had midwife check today. everything fine, got to hear little heartbeat again -it was lovely and really strong, loud and regular. Xander is breech at the moment, although he seems so wriggly in there some days I'm sure he's turning himself around in all different positions constantly.

Seeing consultant on 26th July and having a scan and then I'll be seeing the midwife weekly (or twice a week if I want to) from then onwards for reassurance and checking on Xander all the time.

How is it 5pm already? The days just slip away.

TwoJackRussellsandabean · 05/07/2011 17:56

Don't worry about my getting to Edinburgh for the morning, I get up at six come rain or shine, might drive though and pour DH into the passenger seat rather than try to get him on the train though

I have the most horrendous heart burn today, although compensated for my getting excited about finally getting away for a while and the baby obviously getting an endorphin rush and kicking away like mad, given that I dont feel much movement that was so lovely :)

Stace, enjoy the show, I wonder if some of the same planes will be at yours as well as ours?

cep · 05/07/2011 17:59

evening ladies, hope you're all ok.

Yay for good scan results.

missy how did it go?

cali hope you're ok

never how are things today?

So, after a lovely afternoon with one internal, two bouts of listening to Sprout's hb and bloods sent away for new thyroxine levels I got sent home.
They gave me a co-codamol while waiting for the bloods, and it knocked us both out cold for an hour - Sprout's only just woken up after a sugary drink.

I've been told to chill out until Friday - I've got tomorrow off as my birthday but I will work Thursday - I'll just take it easy.

Now I'm going to wake DP up to make me dinner :)

MooseyMoo · 05/07/2011 19:02

Oooh, Wuzz found this gorgeous clock Grin

Cali Hope the hospital wait wasn't too long and you're feeling better now.

Congrats on all the good scan results. Good luck tomorrow MrsA and all other scanees.

Caz Good to hear you had a good mw appointment. I haven't got a mw appointment until I'm 28 weeks. Seems aaaages.

Missy That's a lovely cot but it's very expensive. If money is no issue, I would personally invest that money in a new pram/buggy and get a cheaper cotbed, but that's just my opinion Smile.

Keep on getting called by a fax machine and Consumer Survey (phoned 3 times in last 10mins). Getting more and more pissed off with each phone call. Feel sorry for the person on the other end of the line who gets my angry rant but to phone 3 times just put me over the edge.

alicat10 · 05/07/2011 19:53

Cali sorry you've had such a rough day and night. Hope you manage to rest up and have a nice birthday. My friend has PCOS and was told by her consultant that she would be at her most fertile as soon as body had recovered from birth - she conceived her 2nd quite easily with a 22 month gap.

Staceroo yay for pink and evening up the numbers a bit :)

Katiebeau I have low bp and MW is pretty good at adjusting for that - though I'm guessing that's because with previous small babies pre-eclampsia is a concern.

Caz glad you've got such a comprehensive care plan, hopefully it will keep you reassured. I'm on fortnightly appts now which I'm pleased about.

MrsA good luck for tomorrow

I'm a bit swollen again today but my pelvis isn't hurting and I can wLk normally so feeling much happier. Also bought a bear babygro today which I'll try and put a link to

NotJustKangaskhan · 05/07/2011 20:32

Cali Glad you're home - I always find it easier to rest at home than in hospitals.

I had my scan and clinic today. Scan went well, we got an extra long one as we had a student doing most of it (though only my husband and kids could see anything during that bit as we we're in a room without an extra monitor and I was tilted back to get a better view of baby). Everything came back clear and we got a lovely photo -- but because I didn't want to bother the student who was having such problems finding a few bits (baby was lying on an arm - s/he seemed most unamused by being bothered by scanning equipment) I never got around to asking the sex so we're on Team Surprise. I hope this time I get to the hear the big announcement (we were team surprise for DC3, but I never heard them say 'it's a girl' and had to check myself! We were going to ask this time because I was so bummed about no announcement last time. Oh well!).

Husband thinks he saw boy bits, though he may have said that to amuse me (I want to have one more boy to name after my grandfather whose name does not have a good female version. I'm happy with whatever we get, but I'd like one more boy before we are done having kids).

Clinic was horrid though - an extremely long wait (well over an hour) in a waiting room with all the toys taken out so my three were incredibly bored. Had to resort to bribery from the hospital shop. Then we get in there and it's a very friendly student doctor who had to be told by the nurse why I was there and what the doctor should recommend -- and the recommendation showed that no one had read my notes - they recommended the afterbirth shot I had a severe adverse reaction to and when I pointed that out she said 'Well, it could cause a reaction, but we'll recommend it anyway and you can take it up with the staff when you come in for labour. I just wanted to scream 'Seriously? You want to recommend the thing that almost killed me? When I was given it for causes that aren't a factor in this pregnancy (anaemia - my iron levels are very high this time around)?'. sigh I just smiled and nodded and said I would talk to the midwife about it (while mentally thinking I have no intention of going in to hospital during labour, so you can recommend whatever). To the student doctor's credit, he did write my concerns and the history in my antenatal notes for all to see so I can talk about it with my midwife and tell her I have no intention of having it again. Another ahh moment was my blood pressure - extremely low (like 94/40), so I came home and treated myself to salted pretzels and bought dried apricots (apparently good for levelling out low pressure) on the way.

BuffyFan · 05/07/2011 21:04

Pleased to hear about good scan news! Mine's tomorrow as well MrsA

Have to admit to being more scared than excited. It's my natural pessimism I guess, but it's almost easier to assume something will be wrong rather than hope for good news.

Am gearing up for the long wait as well, and well prepared for "working at home" for the rest of the day to go out the window.

Cali hope you're feeling a bit better?

alicat10 · 05/07/2011 21:11

Cali - are you watching the sextuplets prog? The mummy has PCOS and took clomide then conceived 6 naturally

PamSco · 05/07/2011 21:14

Good luck tomorrow MrsA and Buffy - it'll be grand.

I have itchy boobs and they are driving me CRAZY! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

MooseyMoo · 05/07/2011 21:20

Oooooh, my pacapod has arrived Grin Definately will keep me a bit more organised. Get fed up rummaging round in current bag trying to find all the bits and bobs I need.

Pamsco How are you feeling (apart from itchy!). Are the gallstones still playing up?

I know what you mean Buffy. I'm exactly the same, I worry if I expect scan to be fine then something will be wrong so I try not to think about it either way Hmm

Poppet Am on the hunt for a bright yellow babygrow for you. I like a challenge Grin. I did have one for DD but it was in a pack of three from Sainsburys and the other two were patterned.

Poppet45 · 05/07/2011 21:34

Moosey you're my hero!!! Grin

goldmaple · 05/07/2011 21:37

cali glad to hear that everything is ok with sprout. FAM def doesn't work well with PCOS/irregular periods. I have no other suggestions except one of my friends is going to try an interuterine implant which apparently doesn't release hormones Hmm and you can TTC right after taking it out (no clue how it works though)

missarch they def need to teach TCOYF in school. I had no clue about any of it either. Good luck for scan tomorrow:) and you too buffy

pamsco I'm scratching away over here like crazy!! except its mostly my belly.

Just found out my MIL has bought out a baby clothes store. But I get to go through what she has bought and return what I don't like!! So excited! Like shopping at home. This really helps us out as money is tight right now and getting a crib and change table will be expensive (let alone a moses basket or a swing)

Caliphora · 05/07/2011 21:37

I'm not watching the sextuplets programme - I'd feel sorry for DP who is finding it hard to fathom one little life depending on him!

I was always convinced we'd conceive at some point - as it happened it took us a lot less time than we thought, and without any other aid than a regime of regular sex. I knew I ovulated at least once/year, it was just making sure we didn't miss it!

Although DP's description of how it happened is "Boom - headshot - back of the net - booyah" which I guess is his way of saying "I've got super sperm and you all know it".

sigh He's 30, you know.

MooseyMoo · 05/07/2011 21:43

Cali smirk at your DP. I found it really weird when we told people that I got 'Congratulations' and DH got 'well done' Hmm.

Right back to finding a yellow babygrow. Who would of thought it would be so blimmin difficult!

alicat10 · 05/07/2011 21:50

pure white and home dye? I've had one in the past in a pack with other plain bold colours but not seen recently

MooseyMoo · 05/07/2011 21:56

Poppet What about this? with matching hat

ali I was just about to suggest that before finding the above!

alicat10 · 05/07/2011 21:57

Ooh Poppet try newfamilyshop.com - out of stock now but maybe back in in time
