lizandlulu · 08/07/2011 21:03

we have had the mother of all storms here, the sky tv and phone has gone down, the yard phone is down too but bt are coming to fix that in the next 4 hours, yet that cant come and fix ours till wednesdayHmm

cant set the alarm without a phone lineSad

yet i still have internet access! i am going to switch the sky box off and see if it resets itself, that usually fixes everything! switch it off, then on againGrin

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 08/07/2011 21:11

Crikey liz! We had a bit of thunder, a bit of rain and thats it. The storm must have just skimmed past us!

KLou111 · 08/07/2011 21:20

Melly lol sorry I confused you. Sit baby on your lap so you have their side facing you. If you hold over their shoulders under the chin with one hand (with a cloth) and one hand on their back. While baby is sitting, move top half of baby in circular movements ie like you're pushing their top half away from you, but instead of back and forth, move in a circle. Hope that makes better sense :)

Is Poppy Louise going to be hyphenated?

KLou111 · 08/07/2011 21:30

Any new bump piccies??? Just put mine on :)

OP posts:
Melly20MummyToPoppy · 09/07/2011 09:30

I thought that was what you meant klou but I wasn't sure lol! No it's not going to be hyphenated. It originally was but we decided it didn't need to be. I still have a couple of bump pics i want to put up. Nice. Just sat in bed feeding and poppy has just sneezed milk all over me and farted. She's such a classy girl :o

KLou111 · 10/07/2011 10:36

LOL Melly Just put some nursery pics up. Just got some pictures to put on the walls :)

OP posts:
Iwish · 10/07/2011 18:46

Well I tried to say hi to you all yesterday and my stupid phone wouldn't load this thread!! I was at MILs house bored while DP was putting a light up at MIL was out. Stupid phone.

klou the nursery is lovely and your bump is coming on too!! I havnt taken a bump pic since 25 weeks. Think I'll take one tomorrow when I'm 28 weeks.

melly lol at the farting and sneezing milk!! Classy little miss hehe.

Back to work tomorrow for me after my nice week off [hsad]. I'd rather stay at home and get paid lol. [hgrin]

My mum has been and bought bubba some more shoes!! At this rate he will have more than me!! He has got 3 pairs of shoes and done knitted bootees that she has bought!!

lizandlulu · 10/07/2011 21:02

evening girls, hope you have all had nice weekendsSmile

klou your nursery looks lovely, the beam in the celing really makes it nice!

iwish and melly glad you are both well.

still got no phone, andh ave since found out that thats why the sky wont work, a message came on the screen saying make sure there is an active phone line connected. aparently they cant come till wednesday to fix it!!!!!!! WEDNESDAY WITHOUT SKY TV!"!!!!!!!!! not impressed and i told them their service is shitGrin especially as they came to the yard right next door and fixed works the same night.

ANYWAY, question for you ladies who are 35 weeks plus, does any part of your bump feel numb at any time? part of my skin thats stretched to the left of my belly button feels quite numb and i wondered if any of you have felt it? i can lightly run my fingers across it and hardly feel them at all. i wonder if i have stretched so much i might have damaged or moved some nerve endings? is that even possible?

MadKatz · 11/07/2011 10:40

Morning Ladies,

Loads of movement over the weekend. Last night was the funniest - sat on the sofa and you could see my shirt moving where I was being kicked! Even DH got a good kick last night when he put his hands on my bump!!

Going to ring the 4D people today as really want to book in but don't want to know the sex, so want to make sure we won't accidentally find out if we go for a 4D.

28th wk appintment with MW on Thursday Smile. Am so looking forward to having baby here now, really want October to come.

GruffaloMama · 11/07/2011 11:18

Hi all - hope you had good weekends. That nursery is lovely klou - really beautiful and snug. Madkatz can't believe it's 28 weeks already - the last few weeks go so quickly!

Liz I have a numb patch on my thigh - I reckon to do with the SPD/sciatica. Physio wasn't worried about it and said it would come back once the pressure on the nerves eased off (after the birth if not before). It actually got better after I did the exercises she showed me. But that's a bit different to your actual bump, IYSWIM? Would check with midwife if I were you.

My tummy is so huge that I've started minor panics about getting the bugger darling out. I would put up pics but having problems hacking into my account and in denial about how big it really is. Have got the car seat down, washed and sorted this weekend. Moses basket is set up in our room. About to go and wash down the pram (liner etc already done - want to clean down the chassis and try out the buggy board). Wardrobe for DS's room is due this afternoon (two weeks late!) which will let me move all his clothes into his room and then I can start really sorting out the nursery. In full nesting mode now...

Iwish · 11/07/2011 19:29

Liz why can't you use your sky without your phone?? Ours isn't even plugged into the phone line. Glad u told them their service Is shit - someone had to Grin

madkatz my 28 week appt is on Wednesday :). Our appts seem to be around the same time! What's your due date again?
Re the scan. If you don't want to find out they wont tell/show u. My friend went 3 times and didn't have a clue.
My DP only manages to feel a kick when he puts his head on my belly. My Likkle one likes to kick daddy's head not his hand lol.

Go on gruff!! get some pics put on!!
Is nesting almost complete in the gruffalo house then? Apart from the mentioned above?

Have been back to work today after my nice week off. Urgh. Would have rather stayed at home. Didnt get to sleep till after 3:30am so was shattered. BUT to make it all better can feel my little one wriggling away as I type. Think he likes fajitas and blueberry muffins [hgrin]

lizandlulu · 11/07/2011 20:41

iwish about the sky, i dont know, the phone is fixed now but still got problems, with the sky and alarm, grrrrrrrrrr!!!!! bt said chubb have to do the wiring, chubb said bt need to do it, loads of twats if you ask meAngry

got midwife app tomorrow at 3.30, after lulu's first proper sports day! i will mention the numb area then, then got to hospital on wednesday to try and turn it, not looking forward to it one bit

Iwish · 11/07/2011 20:57

Lol Liz they are a bunch of twats. They just blame eachother to avoid sorting it out themselves.
If they can't turn baby there and then on Wednesday what will they do next? Fingers crossed they will be able to turn him/her. :)

MadKatz · 11/07/2011 21:51

Iwish my due date is 5th October, although I'm huge now so - don't if I'm right thinking this but - I think baby will come early!

lizandlulu · 12/07/2011 09:55

if the turning it doesnt work i will have a cesarianSad really really dont want to, it would just be so hard wuth looking asfter lulu all day everyday too, but if it has to be then it has to be

MadKatz · 12/07/2011 10:39

Hope it all goes ok tomorrow Liz and the turning works

4d booked for Saturday Grin

When are you due Iwish?

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 12/07/2011 14:24

Good luck liz, I really hope the turning works! Fingers crossed for you :)
RE numb areas, I had that, if I lightly touched my bump I couldn't actually feel it. It's gone now though, I'd be curious to know why it does that though.

Hey Iwish, I told you that you would see your belly move around :o it's ace isn't it? I'm so glad your mums all excited now!

Klou your nursery is gorgeous! Love the fact that bubs already has his/her own tv already :o

Ooooh you could go any time now Gruffalo! You don't know what you're having either do you? I didn't get the whole 'nesting' thing, I just got the 'can't be arsed to do anything but sit on MN all day' thing :o

Madkatz enjoy your scam on saturday, are you going to put the pics up on here so we can see?

We're getting better with the burping, liz's method seems to be the best so far. On friday night Poppy slept from 11:30pm, till 5:50am, I nearly died when I woke up and saw it was light outside! And last night she slept from 11:20pm till 5:12am :) I don't think it'll be long before she's fully sleeping through! I only realised this the other week, but I might've had to have an EMCS!!! Poppys heart rate kept going down everytime I had a contraction and they were worried that she didn't have enough oxygen, so they took some blood from her head to see how much oxygen was in her blood. If there wasn't enough then they would've had to cut me open to get her out. I wondered why a surgeon kept appearing in the room. Hope I haven't scared anyone with that, sorry if I have!

More about Simons feet, he's been to see a private doctor, referred by his GP. And he's been given these gel pad things to stick on the bottom of his feet that gives a numbing effect, it's his first day of wearing them today andhe says it's like walking on jelly :o if these don't work, then the private doctor is going to try acupuncture!

Crikey! Sorry for the long post!

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 12/07/2011 14:25

Sorry Madkatz, I meant scan, I sincerely hope you won't be scamming anybody on saturday! :o

MadKatz · 12/07/2011 15:02

Hehe Melly no I'm definitely not scamming anyone. There's definitely a baby in there (or I'd like to know where the hell this big bump's come from!) Grin

Am feeling a bit out of control re work at the mo. I've dealt with the odd colleague coming in the past few months saying 'are you coming back?' but now my post is officially being advertised on the company website as maternity cover for 12 months and I've had 4 agencies drop in to speak to the boss in the last 3 days! Does anyone know if I'm obliged to take the full 12 months? I didn't say so in my letter notifying them of my pregnancy and am worried if we can't afford for me to be off for that time that I will want to come back earlier but won't be able to because they'll have employed someone on a 12 month contract. Feel like I'm being forced into decisions I don't want to/have to make yet Confused Sad

KLou111 · 12/07/2011 16:07

Hi all,not been on for a couple of days. Had DH's parents here til yesterday morning, and was shattered last night. Feeling a bit more human now although I struggled to open my eyes this morning to let the dogs out at 8:30!!
Been glossing nursery door today, looks so much nicer now, and have just finished our dark red feature wall in the lounge. Really like it actually although we were both a bit scared to do it as it was, well, red! lol!
New wood flooring turned up today, and it has to sit for a week before DH can lay it,so can't wait til next week now :)

36 week appt Thurs here, double appt as she wants to go through labour etc, very scary. AN class tomorrow morning. DH said if it's as shit as last time, he's not going to any more. TBH, I think I will think twice!
No numbness here.

Madkatz glad you're getting your scan sorted, bet you can't wait! Re your job, I'd just have a word with your HR dept or your boss to see how flexible they are going to be.

Melly Glad you've got Poppy sorted winding and sleeping wise. Sounds like she's a good baby. Hope we get one of those!! Hope Simon's feet sort themselves out.

Iwish Sorry you're back at work now. How long left til you finish??

Gruff sounds like you're getting a lot sorted, the nesting well and truly has begun :)

Liz hope all goes well tomorrow, when will they book you in for a c-section if it doesn't work, or will they give you a bit longer?

OP posts:
GruffaloMama · 12/07/2011 18:05

Hiya. Glad you're feelingbetter after your bug, Klou. Good luck with the AN class tomorrow - hope it's good. Melly Poppy is a star! Well done you! I hope Simon's feet respond well to the gel - sounds odd but guess anything that might help must be worth a try.

Madkatz - I agree with Klou - but legally you only have to give two months notice to return to work. It's helpful, obviously, if you can give longer. When I've taken on mat cover staff i've taken them on for a 12 month fixed term contract but with a one-month notice period - that way if the permanent member of staff wanted to come back earlier there wasn't a problem with budgets etc.

Liz hope it goes well tomorrow - will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Gotta go to get ready for antenatal yoga. Don't really feel like going but it might help. Feeling really pants today. I haven't shifted that cold and it kept me awake last night. Have done bugger all today except cough. It really hurts my belly around my belly button.

Iwish · 12/07/2011 18:27

Madkatz Im due 3rd October. Only a few days between us! You will love your scan. have some chocolate and a bottle of lucozade 20 mins before the scan and it will stimulate bubba so you should get some nice movements.
Re your work you dont have to take 12 months if you dont want to. i think ill take 9 months as i dont get paid after that and we wont be able to live off DPs wage.

Kou Eeek 36 weeks!! So close! are you feeling uncomfortable yet? am feeling fat and horrid at 28 weeks lol!!

Liz I Hope the turning works then. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you

Wow Melly Poppy seems to be doing really well!! I bet my little man is a rubbish sleeper, i can just see it lol. How is she during the day. is she fairly quiet and peacefull or does she like attention?

Gruff im sorry you still feel crappy. Hope your DH has been pampering you. maybe you should go to your Yoga class then come home and have a nice warm bath with some nice scented candles and read a magazine. hopefully that should relax you and make you feel better.

I have a midwife appt tomorrow morning, think its bloods too, yuk! i have them done every 5 weeks anyway, dont want it in between lol!!

Just about to put up my 28 wek bump pic. I look HUGE!!

Iwish · 12/07/2011 18:57

Ordered this for the nursery too, it's sooo cute.

Iwish · 12/07/2011 18:58

Sorry, yet another post. Forgot to say, klou I finish work in 7 1/2 weeks. 2nd September is my last day. Feels like an age away!!

lizandlulu · 12/07/2011 20:16

evening all, iwishyou do not look huge! you look lovely, all bumpSmile

gruffalo the yoga sounds good, i wish there was somewhere like that round here to go to, but there isnt, not that there would be much point starting now!

iwish what is that you have ordered? it comes up small and i cant work out what it is?

melly glad all is going well, i am glad she is sleeping well for you, it does sound promising you lucky lucky thing.

klou as far as i know, if it doesnt work tomorrow they should give me a date there and then to have a cesarian.

chris was asking earlier what was going to happen at the hospital tomorrow, i have already explained it to him several time,s just goes to show howm uch he takes in. so i said that if it dodnt work then i would be in for a cesarian the week tarting the 25th july to which he said, 'oh well i wont be there then cause x is off at work'Shock (there is only this one bloke and chris what know about these certain things we buy so they cant both be off at the same time)
i just looked at him in shock, then said 'well you had better sort it out, why ever didnt you think???????'
as far as i know the man hasnt booked to go anywhere, hes just having the time off, so he can just bloody well not have the time off. he is the sort of person who would do that just to be awkward and to make out he is indsepensibleAngry
