SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 29/09/2011 15:13

I want to know why every baby is ginormous compared to Poppy. She was weighed last wednesday, 11lbs 11oz Hmm and she's 15 weeks tomorrow! Other babies there that were the same age were 15/16/17lbs!! HVs weren't worried so i'm not, just want to know why!

Oh btw iwish Poppys cord came off at 6 days old. I found it in her armpit :o
RE the wind, apparantly walking up and down stairs is meant to be quite good for it. This is what simons brother does with his LO as he doesn't want to 'hit' him!

Iwish · 29/09/2011 15:45

If your hv isn't worried melly I suppose you don't need to be ether. I heard girls are usually smaller and lighter than boys too, might just be an old wives tale tho lol. Grin at finding her cord in her arm pit!! I hope joshuas comes off soon, it's bugging me being there now haha.

klou I might have to try that if mellys up and down the stairs doesn't work hehe. Did Euan have a lot of trapped wind? Joshua seems to cry and pull his legs up to his tummy. I'm guessing that's wind anyway.

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 29/09/2011 15:55

I bet it stinks too doesn't it iwish? Poppys stank, like rotting flesh/shit. It was totally rank.

WombOnTheBroom · 29/09/2011 15:56

Sounds like wind to me, iwish. the MW might be able to show you how to massage Joshua's tummy to shift it if melly's idea doesn't work. And DD's cord bled for about two days before it came off and two days after. Not loads but enough to notice.

Melly DD isn't a fair comparison as she was 10lb2oz to start with... but she's gained weight more slowly than DS did at this stage. V cute puppies.

DD is great - looks gorgeous today (I'm allowed to be biased, right?) in a little broderie anglaise romper someone bought for her. DS is poorly again though - stomach bug - we were both up at 4am stripping his bed and bathing him. Poor little mite. And he's off his food - most unlike him. Hopefully he'll be better for tomorrow so he can go to pre-school. He loves it there and would be gutted to miss it.

madkatz - I'm away this weekend - hope by the time I get back there's an announcement from you!!!

Liz did you manage to get Toys R Us to refund you on the crib set? I finally sorted out some bits in DD's room so she can have her daytime naps in there. She'll be in with us for a bit longer at night but it was good to get the nursery more sorted. She's into 3-6 months clothes now so I've sorted out loads for the loft/selling and have got all the new things in her wardrobe. Very satisfying!

Waves at Klou!!!

KLou111 · 29/09/2011 17:16

iwish a few things I do are hold him dangling under the arms (mw told me that one) or hold him sitting on your lap under the arms facing you and gently move in a circle, or sitting sideways on your lap holding under his chin and back, moving in a circle. If all that fails, I do the normal over the shoulder patting the back thing :)

KLou111 · 29/09/2011 17:20

melly I think the avg weight gain is 6oz per week, I can't remember Poppys birth weight but is that what she's gaining?
Totally agree with the stinky belly button!! Bloody awful, stank the whole of upstairs out!!

OP posts:
SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 29/09/2011 17:45

She was 7lb 12oz, so a 4lb gain in 15 weeks. Someone else can do the maths, i'm terrible with numbers :o

KLou111 · 29/09/2011 18:40

If say took her 3 weeks to put back on her birth weight, is just over 5oz per week :)

Iwish · 29/09/2011 18:56

Thanks gruff I'm glad you have said about your DD's cord, I was a little worried something was wrong. I was going to ask the midwife when she came today but she hasn't turned up! And yeh you are allowed to be biased, I think Joshua is gorgeous!

melly it doesn't smell actually, well not yet anyway lol.

klou I have tried the dangling him holding him underneath his arms but it doesn't work. Will try sitting him on my knee and moving in a circle.

My house looks like a bomb site! We have that many cards and presents for Joshua it's unbelievable lol. Ooh must also remember to upload a picture of him!

lizandlulu · 29/09/2011 22:23

yes iwish we need to see him!!!Grin i am glad you are getting on well, hope the cord clears up soon.

gruff i havent been yet, its my job tomorrow, going shopping to lincon at the same time, just me and babs and got to back for 3.25 to get lulu from school, everything has to be done on a tight schedule!

melly poppy is probably just going to be a dainty thing, lulu was liek poppy, she was 8 lb at birth but didnt put much weight on and was always on the skinny side, whereas violet weighs now at 10 weeks 12lb9 (last week anyway) lulu didnt weigh that till she was 16 weeks nearly. they are all different and as long as they are feeding well theres no problem.

i was syaing to a friend outside school today how violets legs were really chubby and had folds in them that i actually ahve to peel back and dry between after her bath, a lady said 'ahh shes a baby, they are ment to be chubby'. its just so odd seeing a normal baby tho when lulu was never like that.

well shes gone to bed now, we are slowly slowly bringing the time forward as ses staying awake longer. yippeeeee!!!!

lizandlulu · 29/09/2011 22:25

oh and we are looking at booking a short hol to benidorm last week of october and have tried milton tablets to sterilise to see if she will have the bottles after being in that as they smell slightly of it and wanted to do a trial run before we go. but hse had one earlier and didnt seem to notice the difference!!! yey i am so glad, we can now stay in a hotel rather than apartmentSmile

KLou111 · 29/09/2011 22:41

That's fab Liz hopefully she'll start sleeping more to when you need her to :)
Fingers crossed with the bottles.

We've booked tenerife for a week the 22 Nov, can't bloody wait!!! We've booked an apartment for the first time ever, half board for the first time too as normally all inc but no point if I'm not drinking, or drinking much fizzy stuff, and we'll be back to the room earlier. Trying to find a cheapo buggy, found one in argos which I may get. Bought the little man lots of holiday stuff including some baby banz sunglasses, wicked!!!

Morning Ladies,

Well I survived shopping in London for 4 hours and Lee Evans last night - absolutely hilarious - and arrived back at 3am this morning! Knackered now! So will definitely be having a quiet day at home today.

Going to start pineapple today and try and find a hot curry takeaway for tonight. Along with the raspberry leaf, hoping this will convince LO to put in an appearance soon!!! Grin Grin Grin

KLou111 · 30/09/2011 10:10

Good old hard sex from behind madkatz worked for us :)
Glad you had a fab time, lee Evans is so funny x

MadKatz · 30/09/2011 13:49

Klou just need to persuade DH! It's been a while Confused x

lizandlulu · 30/09/2011 17:41

klou is sex your answer for everything???Grin dirty filthy pair!! only kiddingGrin

madkatz did you get owt good shopping?

i went to toys r us today and they exchanged the crib set for a bumper, although decided to get a cute pink one with mousy things on it, so cute, so going to also return the cot bed duvet i have and uplighter tooHmm i wish i had waited to see what sex we got before buying anything like that, its not like she needed it straight away, i just cant help myslef!

klou have you looked in the paper for a cheap buggy, or try a car boot? last time we went there was quite a few, people are always getting rid. there was a petite star zia for £40, i had to practically sit on my hands to not buy itGrin

apaprtments are better then hotels when you have a new baby, you have abit of space to move around in dont you. the only thing about them is that in benidorm you either have to have an apartment with no food/board or entertainment/bar/lobby. but in a hotel we will be stuck for space for washing.sterilising bottles.

violets been abit restless since we got back, shes alseep now but wouldnt be put down for a while

KLou111 · 30/09/2011 20:00

ha ha Liz! Do I really sound that bad!! Lol. Glad you got to swap the bumper. I know what you mean about waiting for things, I got so much white stuff before Euan was here like sleepsuits etc, but TBH he looks so god damn cute in them, I've not bought any different ones, but once he's out of 0-3 will prob get coloured ones.
Have you sorted Violets passport? We sent Euan's Monday. Last time I renewed mine it was back in a week!

Got his photos done at paspic.co.uk where you can take your own picture and they make it into a passport photo, which is great as it took about 25 attempts!!
Can you not go half board and get an apartment?
Will have a look on preloved or ebay for a buggy, we don't get a local paper, and you can forget trying to get to a car boot around here lol!

klou yeh it's lovely all the gifts and cards people send. I'm going to have some thank you cards made I think. liz had some lovely ones made so I'm thinking of having them done too :)
Omg you sex crazed lady lol! Me and dp now havnt dtd for about 20 weeks Shock. He is starting to get a bit more in the mood now I'm not all fat and pregnant.

liz I think you have the perfect excuse to go shopping and buy more lol. You can have a few different sets...
Yey for holidays too, bet you can't wait to get it booked.

madkatz hope the curry, tea, sex and pineapple work. Also try lots of walking and bouncing on birth ball if u have one.

Stupid Internet is v slow today so still not uploading pics.
Joshua had a whingy night again last night. He just wanted cuddles and didn't want to be put down from 4:45am till 7:10am. I gave him a dummy which worked for a bit but then it fell out Hmm. He's been asleep most of today because we have been out walking etc and he has just woken up now, eyes wide open sat in his little swing.

KLou111 · 30/09/2011 22:16

I had some made too, did them through Vista print online :) they were birth announcements, and wrote on the back thanking peeps. The ones Liz had done were beautiful :) so cute

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 30/09/2011 23:09

yes klou i have got her passport back, took dead on 2 weeks.

i have put her in her own cot and she is now in there cryingSad just a slow whinge tho, not screaming. she was asleep when i put her in there which didnt help. i keep going in to her but she is wide eyed and showing no signs of sleep. she had a longer than normal sleep from 5.30 till about 6.45 but i let her sleep cause i thought the heat would have wiped her out.

hmm will let you knwo tomorrow how the nights gone on

KLou111 · 01/10/2011 11:31

How did you get on Liz?
Have got Euan in our lounge in nothing but his nappy, coolest place in the house and still roasting!
Got some friends coming for the weekend, picked a good one for it!!
Have s good one all x

Iwish · 01/10/2011 18:01

Well nothing has worked to get joshuas wind up so we have taken a nice walk to the shops and bought some infacol. It appears to have helped settle him (or it might just be a coincidence). We are now sat in the back garden, DP is sorting the garden out, Joshua is asleep in the pram and I am sat on a chair watching lol.

How did yoi get on last night liz?

Hope you are having a nice weekend with friends klou

Hope you are in labour madkatz lol.

Waves to melly and gruff

Spoke too soon, he is awake and crying again! No idea what's wrong with the poor thing. Have just picked him up and am cuddling him and he's going to sleep. Suggestions?

Iwish · 01/10/2011 18:02

He sounds v snotty too

lizandlulu · 01/10/2011 22:51

i dont really know iwish might be wind that the infacol is bringing up, might be the heat unsettling him, violet has been unsettled too since its been hot and doesnt want putting down, he might just like cuddles off his mummySmile

well last night wasnt too bad, she cried for about am hour, i kept checking her and everytime i went it she stopped crying, so there wasnt anything wrong with her, just casue she was in her cot. mum and dad have had her this evening from 3.30 till 9. i have been to a wedding with lulu (no chris but thats a whole other moan!) so give her a bottle and put her in her cot, she whinged a couple of times so i put her musical thumper on and shes gone off to sleep!! result!!

last night she was asleep for 12 and awake 2.30 and 5.30Hmm hope she sleeps longer tonight, mummy is slightly tired!

can i ask your advice on a holiday? the family we were going with, he has spent most of his money on a new lorry so now cant afford to go in a nice hotelAngry so spent about 3 hours last night on the computer trying to find a 3 star half board place for 1 star prices!! needless to say i didnt find anything, but we did come across a private apartment on www.villarentals.com. its £276 for 4 nights, self catering but thats the price for all of us, seems to good to be true. plus flights and transfers which have to be booked seperatly. the loaction is perfect and has private pool for apartment block people only. i am just very wary of booking it as i have never booked with this website before. what do you think??
