Hi - gotta be really quick (it seems like that a lot lately!)

Iwish sometimes there are people who can snip tongue ties privately. I don't know your area but if you post on the Breast and Bottlefeeding thread there might be someone who knows your local area and whether there's anyone there that could help. A friend looked into that locally here and it wasn't very expensive as it's such a short procedure.

DS liked preschool - his second day today. DD doing great - very smiley and happy. Need to weigh her soon. Took them both to work yesterday - lots of cooing etc...

Liz you're doing well to have lost the weight - won't be long until you get rid of the last half-stone. I'm about the same. But then I need to lose the other two stone I should have lost before I got preg!!! Wink

p.s. happy to still be Gruff - just accidentally outed myself in real life on one of the other boards Grin

Iwish · 23/09/2011 09:52

gruff I rang a private place and they said it was over £1000!!! Robbing gits lol.
I have received an appt through and he is having it done on 04/10/11. Not too long to wait I suppose.

madkatz I can't believe yiu have lost weight!! I put on about 3 1/2 stone I think. You look v slim and all bump on the pics you put on.

liz sounds like she is a fab weight. And I think you are mad wanting to be at the next sale at that time let alone the usual 5am omes!!

We can go home today!! Grin can't wait.

WombOnTheBroom · 23/09/2011 09:59

Bloody hell - £1k!!! That's obscene. 4 Oct isn't too bad, but still will feel like ages when you're struggling with feeding. Have you seen a lactation consultant at the hospital to try to help you out until then - there might be things they can suggest to make it easier to feed until Joshua is able to suck better. Or maybe try your local NCT for a BFing Counsellor?

Iwish · 23/09/2011 10:13

Expensive isn't it! I have been seeing Tongue tie experts and bf experts and we have come to the conclusion that I will express and cup feed or bottle feed until he has had the op. I will still be trying to get him on the breast too. The hospital have lent me a breast pump too which is fab.

Can't believe I have been in this flippin hospital 7 days now. Feels like forever too.

WombOnTheBroom · 23/09/2011 10:22

Very expensive - I don't know the exact costs for my friend here but it was about the same a dentist appointment, IYSWIM? She wouldn't have thought £1K was reasonable!

There are some lovely people on the Breast and Bottlefeeding board who will have had experience of dealing with early tongue tie if you want a bit of support.

lizandlulu · 23/09/2011 13:32

iwish i am so glad that you have a date, i still dont think its right you have to wait that long, but better than waiting for weeks. how long is it? 2 weeks?

gruff glad your ds is liking preschool. how are you liking time with just you and the baby? how long does he go for? my lulu loves shcool, she gets to do so much different stuff she otherwise wouldnt do and loves playing with her friends, she needs the stimulation.

i have just bought one of these www.bundlebean.com/?tx=9N486575A47848242&st=Completed&amt=29.99&cc=GBP&cm=&item_number=

i dont need it just yet as shes still in pram, but they look fab and have paid with my paypal money so though i ought to get one whilei remember! they look ace
i saw it in gurgle magazine from mothercare, there is a doulbe page spread about mums and das who have invented things and there is some really good ideas in there!

Iwish · 23/09/2011 15:38

Thanks gruff might have a nosey on there for some tips. Are you bf?

liz it Is a week on Tuesday, it's sad that for something that involves a baby feeding that it's not done sooner, like at the hospital at point of birth.
What is that you have bought? Sorry to maybe ask a stupid question but what does it do?

WombOnTheBroom · 23/09/2011 15:51

Yeah, dd is BF. Apart from a blocked duct about 6 days in we've been v lucky. She feeds less often than ds did at the same age but sleeps even better too. I've used the BF board a lot as you often pick up tips and ideas from other mums and not many of the mums I know locally fed for v long.

lizandlulu · 23/09/2011 18:10

iwish its just a buggy snuggle kind of thing, fits on all pushchairs and just looks coolGrin

when do yuo think you will be coming home?

Iwish · 23/09/2011 18:21

You have done well with the bf then gruff I'll have to look at the bf board.

I think we can go home tonight liz. He has just had some bloods done so just waiting for the results then we can go home if all is ok.

How often do your LOs feed? Joshua has been hungry every 1 1/2 hours today! Not liking the thought of that tonight....

KLou111 · 23/09/2011 20:56

Glad you're going home iwish been a long time coming, enjoy your firstp night. Re the tongue tie, glad you now have s date, just hang on there. It's so quick I'd be tempted to do it myself if we had to wait a long time.
Hopefully you won't be up many times tonight, he'll settle down soon esp when he's had his tongue done vie he'll ne fuller for longer.

Glad all ok with you gruff :)

Can't open link on phone Liz will have a look tomorrow on comp.

All ok here, think Euan having a growth spurt as been really grizzley all day, he's not slept and just gone down so fingers crossed that's him for a while.
Hv been in today and Euan has put on 15oz in 10 days!! Is now 10lb 13.5oz. Nursery nurse coming next week Liz I found it odd, but all she's doing I suppose is weighing him. :)

iwish violet wanted feeding every 2 hours for the forst couple of weeks. exhausting but wont last for long, once they gt the hang of sucking and breathing and just living in the world, they soon settle down. violet now lasts anything from 2 and a half to 4 hours, longer sometimes at night. once he starts to feed more it wont be so often, heres hoping anyway!!Smile

MadKatz · 24/09/2011 08:23

Morning Ladies,

LO had hiccups last night, very funny feeling.

Hope you're 1st night at home was alright Iwish

KLou111 · 24/09/2011 11:29

madkatz it is funny isn't it. Euan had them all the time and still does now he's here lol.

iwish how was your first night?

OP posts:
Iwish · 24/09/2011 15:03

Hey all.

Yeh our first night went ok. He was fed at 12:00 then about 1:30, 3:15 ish, 5:45 and 8:45. Is that about normal?

madkatz Joshua had them a few times a day near the end.

Ooh liz I hope he calms down a bit with the feeding, would be nice to get it to 3 hours.

How did Euan get on last night?

Midwife just been and all is ok. She took a look at my stitches and said they are looking good. They are v sore tho!

lizandlulu · 24/09/2011 15:14

iwish that all sounds normal to me, good boy!!!!

on our first night i looked at chris when we both woke in the morning and said 'well thank god for that, we kept her alive!' it really did feel that weird.

i have just cut my thumb with a knifeSad its only timy but quite deep!

Iwish · 25/09/2011 12:15

Had a v pukey baby last night. He went through 4 outfits because he kept being sick on them Confused.

Hows your thumb liz? bet it bloody hurt even if it is a little one.

Going to bath little man in a few mins.

KLou111 · 25/09/2011 12:55

AHHHHHHH that's lovely Iwish :) he'll be up a few times for a couple of weeks I would have thought, but you did one week in hospital lol.
I sat on my widgey pillow for 2 weeks cos of the pain!

Euan still grizzley, won't stop fidgeting, being sick (cos he keeps fidgeting) and wants to be held all the time. Poor little man got that much attention while we were back in the midlands, I think he is feeling a little neglected!! I've got him in one arm while i write this, we're face to face, such a cutie :)
Thank god he's sleeping at night though! Prob cos he's so awake all day!

Hope your thumb ok Liz, your keeping the baby alive comment made me smile! I said to Rob this morning i still can't believe we have a baby lol.

Any niggles yet madkatz?

MadKatz · 25/09/2011 16:04

Just feeling very heavy and starting to get a bit of back ache. But these feelings are constant - not contraction-like - so I'm assuming its LO just dropping further down. Really want it all to start now!

Went to see Al Murray last night, very funny. DH was hoping me laughing so much would bring labour on but it didn't. But we have tickets for Lee Evans at the O2 on Thursday night (if I make it!) so maybe more giggles there might do it. DH would be thrilled if I went into labour down there - he's a londoner, has planned all the hospital routes etc in case anything happens Grin

lizandlulu · 25/09/2011 18:46

madkatz that would be a good birth storyGrin

klou hows euan today, still grizzly? fri and sat violet was awake loads too, to the point of only having a couple of half hour naps and going to sleep for the night at 10.30 on fri, but last night she still wouldnt settle down still 12.20. we have been out nearly all day today tho nad shes slept for most of it, all the being awake has tired her out! shes awake now so going to try to keep her awake till 11ish, then she can go to sleep.

friday tho after she had been awake nearly all day on and off, and going to bed at 10.30, she still woke more than normal. 1.30, 3.30.6.30 then i had to wake her at 8 to go toschool.

it keep worrying me about how i am going to get her to go to bed at 7 like kids do.

Iwish · 25/09/2011 21:24

klou it worried me when he was sick, I kept thinking the poor thing would starve.
I have a widgey pillow - why didn't I think of that!!? (lightbulb moment courtesy of klou)
Your little man loves cuddles with mummy by the sounds of it.

Hehe madkatz imagine going into labour while watching that! Keep your bag with you lol.

Joshua seemed to enjoy his bath, he cried when we took him out, bless him.

KLou111 · 25/09/2011 21:32

Liz I am finding the Gina Ford Contented Little Baby book fabulous for sleep routines :) Hope you get a bit more sleep tonight.

Just trying to get Euan back onto it as it was disrupted this last week, and he's getting there.
Still been grizzley, not sure what's wrong with him tbh, he never is upset for no reason, and we were getting a bit worried.
I held him til he finally went to sleep, got him upstairs, put him in his sleeping bag and I sodding woke him up, so held him again and he was off. That was about 8.

Hate him being upset, makes me feel so helpless :(

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 25/09/2011 21:44

klou bless him, i wonder what coukd be upsetting him? onve you have been throught the usual things, hungry/hot/cold/nappy there sint much else you can do. i hope he cheers up soon.
i find gina ford too strict for me, i know i want to get her to sleep earlier in the evenings, but dont want to be too rigid in the day as to the point i cant go out. it will come naturally (i hope)! i can cope on the sleep i am getting, around 6-7 hours a night so cant really complain.
iwish try not to worry about him being sick, he wont starve. if mine have ever been sick, sometimes they need feeding sooner than expected, but he will let you know what he wants.
violet seems to have calmed down with the sick, apart from 1 day last week she hasnt really half as sicky as she was. joshua might do the same in a few weeks

KLou111 · 25/09/2011 22:04

I know what you mean liz about the day thing being quite strict, but we're not following it word for word in the day, just as long as he sleeps for the max amount of total hours in the day she suggests, it seems to work :) I do feed him when she says though.

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 26/09/2011 13:47

so does he go to bed early evning evry night? how many hours does she say let them sleep for?

i could do with violet moving her sleeping pattern back 4 hours! last night she went to sleep for the night at 12 woke at 3.30, 6.30 and 8 but every time, had bottle and back to sleep straight away (a plus i suppose) and was asleep till 12. could do with her going to sleep earlier in the evening and waking earlier
