Nice to hear from you Gruff, hope Florence is being a sweetie :)
Have been the told the same thing about the worrying. Always made me laugh until now that the parents wouldn't sleep until you got home etc (even though am 31!!) but I am beginning to know what they mean and bubs not even here yet!! I suppose it's come from everything that has gone wrong so far with this pregnancy ie bleeding etc.

Still nada here. Had a lovely day, been to the woods for a walk with the dogs, then to the nearby pub for a sunday roast, then a drink by the river (next to the pub), Bella decided to jump in and take her first 'swim' comical!! Now home, chillin with my bags of chocolate, well DH has a bottle of cider, so it's only fair :)

gruffalo i am not a worrier either, but exactly as you say, i cant help thinking about these things!

you know i was dead set against breastfeeding my own baby. it never appealed to me at all. i dont like my breasts being touched or played with even by dh and really didnt want to have this little person relying on me for its sole food supply...BUT with this being my last baby i am slightly regretting not at least trying it. just to stop her from rooting about for my nipple every time i feed her. it is the only thing that i feel bad about not doing for her.
i dont want to start now, i dont even know if thats possible, but i just wish i had given it a try for the first couple of days.

GruffaloMama · 07/08/2011 23:11

I know - I was obsessing worrying about tripping when carrying her down the street the other day. No reason to think that I would but hey...

It is possible (but I think difficult) to re-lactate - but if you had good reasons (as of course you did) for deciding not to, you shouldn't feel bad about it. How you feed a baby is an intensely personal decision and not one that other people should have any part in, with the possible exception of the father. If it's getting you down you should be able to talk to a counsellor - the NCT have a post-natal helpline - 0300 330 0773. You've probably already done it but have you found other ways to be close to Violet that might make you feel less bad about her rooting/mean that she's not so close to your boobs? Our HV showed us how to do baby massage with DS - I loved it and so did he. I've been trying to find time to do it with Florence but only managed it a few times so far.

KLou111 · 08/08/2011 14:28

I'd have a word with someone if you feel that strongly Liz :)

I'm planning to BF for 6 months, but have also got some formula in just in case I have any problems, or get to the end of my tether and can't get baby on.
I know it's probably risky getting it in as if it's there, I might use it, but it's better than baby not feeding and having to drive 15 mins each way to get formula lol!
It's got a BBE date of December 2012 so it'll come in handy somewhere I'm sure!! I can't get over the cost of the bloody stuff though!!

Feeling very pleased with myself. Just won a new red/black Baby Bjorn Active carrier for £42 on ebay (cheapest I've found £69.99, amazon), yet one I was watching with 4 hours to go is at £68!!! Don't get some ebayers!! If you're willing to pay that, just buy it from bloody amazon, muppets!!

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 08/08/2011 17:20

i dont feel THAT strongly about it. i think it would cause me more hassle in the long run. like once she has had it will she want it more and not want a bottle, will it make her 'root' even more than she does.

just when its the middle of the night and shes crying and trying to find my nipple, i just wonder what she would do if i put it in her mouth?

she only seems to cry when she wants a bottle, but she is still being very faddy with her bottles. she can want feeding anywhere between every 1-3 hours. i never know where i am with her.

klou thats a bargain. i dont get some ebayers too. there can be 10 of the same thing, but the ending soonest one might be cheaper than the others ending laterHmm makes no sense.

i won a mamas and papas foot muff for my luna for £7.50. bargain tooSmile

Iwish · 08/08/2011 18:15

Hi ladies.

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend.

Liz maybe if it was the milk that you wanted to give violet rather than just the act of breastfeeding you could express and feed it to her by bottle? Bargain on your footmuff too!!

klou you got a good bargain too!! Why do I never get as good bargains! Envy

gruff hope you are doing ok. I'm sure the worrying is v normal. I can imagine I'll be the same. My driving etc has already changed and I'm a terrible passenger worrying that whoever I'm with will have a crash. Spend the full journey gripping onto the side handles!

madkatz and melly. Hope you are ok

Well I went for my scan today to see if the placenta has moved and it has!!! Woohoo I'm so happy. Normal delivery here I come.
The crappy news is that my BP is too high. They kept checking me over a period of half a hour and it didn't change. Sooo I have to go back on Wednesday for another check and if it's still up I'll have go go into the hospital for monitoring :(.
Off to antenatal tonight. Should be fun lol.

KLou111 · 08/08/2011 19:54

Yey on your placenta Iwish!!!! Boo on your BP, hope it manages to drop.
Have fun at your class :)

That's good on the footmuff Liz :) Not sure how it works, or how long etc, but would you still have milk now, or does it 'dry up' pretty quick of you don't feed after birth?

OP posts:
Iwish · 08/08/2011 22:10

Yeh BP is rubbish, keeping my fingers crossed it has gone down by my next visit on Wednesday. Antenatal class went well. They are having a tour next week but I'm not going because I have to go to a different hospital to the one they are doing a tour of so I need to arrange my own tour I think. I'm totally useless at remembering things at the moment.

Can I just ask you ladies who have had babies... How many pack of maternity pads did you go through? I have currently got 2 packs and they each have 24 in. Also how long did the bleeding last?
Sorry I know thats random lol

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 08/08/2011 22:51

Hey everyone! iwish i didn't even use 20 maternity pads, you have extreme bleeding for approx 24 hours after giving birth, then it just slows down to regular period flow, just dragged out for a ridiculously long time! I only stopped bleeding last week! But everyones different, you might only bleed for a couple of weeks. Just stock up on normal sanitary pads though, i always ran out at the most awkward times possible! That's brilliant news about your placenta, you must be well chuffed! High BP = good excuse for relaxing and not getting stressed out. I know it's not a good thing but you may aswell make good of it if you see what i mean?

liz and gruffalo, i'm the same i used to be terrified of dropping poppy down the stairs, and i do worry about people crashing into the car. I had a scare earlier when i was walking over a crossing and had a sudden vision of a joyrider/car thief etc jumping the red light and driving straight into the pram :( i practically ran across the road after that! "New Baby Syndrome" could be the medical term for it?

MadKatz · 09/08/2011 06:59

Hi *Iwish, glad your placenta's moved, but crap about your BP. I'm glad you asked that question re maternity pads because I was wondering too!

Iwish · 09/08/2011 08:10

Thanks melly. Hopefully I should be ok with my 48 then lol! The bleeding freaks me out Confused but whatever will be will be I suppose. 6 weeks it will have been for you then won't it?
I would love to put my feet up and relax but have to go to work :(
Might have a little sleep on the sofa when I get home tho.
I am v pleased about my placenta. Happy I can give birth naturally.

madkatz thanks v much, I'm a happy bunny now. We will be using these lovely ladies as little fountains of knowledge lol!

Well I had the worst sleep ever last night. I didn't get to sleep till 3am ish so I'm shattered. I was starving at 1:30 so sat there eating biscuits lol. Not the happiest I've ever been today then so I hope no one annoys me as the crazy woman hormones might just kick in and I'll be a crying, blubbering mess Grin

lizandlulu · 09/08/2011 08:10

woo good new for you iwish what a relief!!!!

and i am still bleeding 19 days on. i am still using maternity pads as what i was losing was still quite jellyfied and slimey, rather than just blood and i was just sitting on top of the always pads i was using. although now i think i am just having my period as its just blood again, but using up the maternity pads i have. i originally bought 2 packs and just bought some more as i needed them.

and re the breastfeeding, its not the actual milk i want to give her, i just wanted to find out how it felt. i am stil lleaking, although slightly from one breast.
she was awake last night on and off from about half 7 to midnight, she looked in pain at one point, screaming and kicking her legs all about, then she had a poo and seemed alot better and slept from 12 to about 4.45!!! longest ever!!

i think i am going to change her milk to the cow and gate comfort milk

Iwish · 09/08/2011 11:15

Thanks Liz I am v relieved!
Is the bleeding painful like a period? Or just more of an inconvenience? Sorry I just want as much info as I can get. It's the only thing that's freaking me out up to now lol.
If you wanted to try her with breast feeding I'm sure it would be ok.
Aww bless her, maybe she had a tummy ache and felt better after her poop so gave you longer to sleep lol!

KLou111 · 09/08/2011 13:38

hi all, I've got 2 packs of pads too Iwish, wasn't sure how many to get lol. Like the others said, I guess I'll just top them up as needed, and dependant on how heavy Hmm the joy.
So overrated this pregnancy thing, AM SO FUCKED OFF RIGHT NOW!!!
Sorry for the outburst lol, I feel like I'm on the 2ww all over again!!

On a happier note, bubs' bouncy chair turned up this morning from my oldest brother, along with a newborn book by Gina Ford :)

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 09/08/2011 16:33

iwish the bleeding isnt painful, just the inconvenience seeing as you cant use tampons either. i got some more always pads today from boots, 2 for £3 cause i dont know how much longer its going to last.

when i was still in hospital, on the friday, i had hardly any bleeding at all, then it all came when i did abit too much. aparently you bleed less with e cesarian as they can swab out most of the blood so i think most of my loss is due to me healing or not as the case may be!

Iwish · 09/08/2011 18:01

Oh klou hun. U sound so fed up. I hope bubba doesn't keep you waiting too much longer.
Which bouncy chair did you go for?

Liz phew it's not painful, not that it's going to be anywhere near the pain of birth or c-section lol. How are you doing today?

I'm fed up. Why is it that when you try to be good with money It goes tits up??!! Car has decided it needs a new exhaust!! This will be the second one in 4 years Angry

lizandlulu · 09/08/2011 19:06

hiya iwish i have been out today with chris, lulu and violet to melton market, its got loads of animals and stalls and things. nice to look round but sooo busy!!!

chris has gone racing again tonight so its just us girls yet again. hes pissed me off by going, i have told him that in a few days time i am going out somewhere in the evening and let him try and juggle these 2 on his own, see how he likes it.

i bought some of the cow and gate comfort milk for the baby, i gave her a bottle of it at about 3 which she had most of, then brought back up again.

she had 2 massive poohs when she was kicking about on her changing mat, so hopefully that has cleared her out for the night. i have given her her usual milk in the last bottle and shes fast on now. hopefully will stay that way till i have at least got lulu in bed

Iwish · 09/08/2011 20:40

Bet you enjoyed it at the Market Liz was it the first proper outing with the whole family?
Oooh yeh go out and leave him to it, wonder how many phone calls you would get lol. Grin
Looks like she likes the normal milk! Unless you try her with it again.

Wish we had a tv in the bedroom, would love to go to bed right now and just relax.

lizandlulu · 09/08/2011 21:20

no iwish we have been out quite abit really.

god my scar is sore tonight, the part that was infected is really really tender. the midwife rang yest with the results of the swab she took from it, and apart from it having moist spores or something like that, it wasnt too bad. but its sore tonight.

a pal has just been who works on a tip and hes got me 8 packs of boots newborn nappiesShock all was in a cardbord box taped upHmm and all in new sealed packs.

will last me the whole time till she needs the bigger size i reconSmile

KLou111 · 09/08/2011 21:39

Bloody hell Liz what a find!! Why would anyone throw them away lol!
Glad you enjoyed the market :) Sorry you've been left on your own again lol. Your defo want to go out on your own with some friends though :)

Iwish shit about the car :( everything always happens at once!!
Hope you get a bit of relaxing time in. Have a nice bath with a book :)

Really enjoying this Gina Ford book my brother bought. Can see how some people can think she tries to make baby a bit of a robot though, with her routines, but if it works, it would be fab!!

got this bouncer matches the nursery, although prob won't be staying in there! but it is at the moment. His/her room very full now lol!

Just bought some of that magic blackout blind stuff for bubs' nursery and our room. Great stuff, one of our tenants used to have it in their bedroom, was fab :) Not bloody cheap though for what it is!! Was tempted to just use black bin bags lol!

Got our final AN class in the morning, here was me 2 weeks ago hoping we wouldn't make it, hey ho!

Waves at Melly, Gruff and Madkatz

Waves back to KLou

well done on your find Liz

I know what you mean about money Iwish am always trying to be careful but still always struggling. Putting a load of old stuff on ebay again over the next couple of nights to try and raise a bit. On the plus side, have only spent about £60 on the nursery and it looks fab. Will put some pics up when I've finished the curtains Grin

Iwish · 10/08/2011 10:07

Sorry for the me me me post but I'm scared. Went for a check up this morning and my bp is still high and baby's heart rate is too fast so I'm being sent to the hospital to be monitored. I hope my little man is ok and will be staying in there for a good few more weeks. Can't drive to the hospital myself as my exhaust has fallen off so waiting for DP to come home and take me.

Melly20MummyToPoppy · 10/08/2011 11:40

Lol liz now thats what you call a bargain :o How strange that someone would just throw them away Hmm. So apart from all the soreness, how is it healing?

Iwish I hope everything will be ok, just try not get yourself too stressed out about it. Probably easier said than done. But good luck, we're thinking of you x

Wow madkatz, £60? That's brilliant! Can't wait to see it, I love nurserys :) how are you and bump anyway?

klou thats a lovely bouncer! Very posh looking but it's a good price isn't it? What day are you due?

Simons cousin is due today. And OMG can't believe i forgot to tell you all! Simon has disowned his dad and banned him from ever seeing poppy ever again! It's a bit of a long story but i'll cut it down as much as i can. Simons mum is kicking his dad out, his dad leant us 1500 for the deposit on our house, paid back about 500 so far. He's convinced himself we owe him 2000!! The only reason he hasn't left yet is because he wants his money off us. Simon has vowed that he's going to have 1000 by friday (god only knows how, we're skint!) and the locks will be changed on simons mums house and he will have to leave! Phew, sorry for the long post!

MadKatz · 10/08/2011 14:18

Good Luck Iwish at the hospital

Bump and I are fine thanks Melly, only 5 1/2 weeks left at work now. Am really feeling tired in the evenings now and can't wait to finish, although also trying to sort out some work-from-home ideas (so ideally I don't have to go back Grin )
